A portion of a letter written by Eduardo Paolozzi to Millie Sutcliffe following the death of Stuart, June 1962.
It is currently on display at the Museum of Liverpool, along with his acoustic guitar. I hadn't seen it before and so I thought it appropriate to photograph it to share. It reads:
"Dear Mrs Sutcliffe,
I have written before, but my intuition tells me you may not have received the letter particullarly [sic] since I had no reply — I am returning to London 107 Dovehouse Street on July 5th after two weeks on this island [Mallorca] with my children.
Stuart was a very good boy and worked very hard but was always plagued by ill health. When I first arrived in Hamburg he was still playing with the Rock & Roll band [The Beatles] until the early hours, and seemed to be unsteady then. This form of life would be a terrific strain of the strongest —"

The Manuscript of Monte Cassino.
This artwork is displayed in front of the steps leading to St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral and are by Leither Eduardo Paolozzi, who is forever known as an icon of Scottish and British art. He is also considered one of the most important Britons of Italian descent.
The sculptures are known colloquially as “The Foot” and “The Hand,” the work is a series of three sculptures featuring disembodied body parts. Symbolism is present in all three elements, featuring geometric shapes that seem to break the body parts up. “The Manuscript” is said to symbolise the horror and destruction of war, while I can appreciate them, I don't think my mind is abstract enough to fully understand them.

Transporting you back to London at the height of the Swinging Sixties, this book provides vital context for two of the biggest and boldest names in 'Pop' fashion: Mary Quant, alleged mother of the miniskirt, and Terence Conran, the entrepreneur behind the new wave of 'lifestyle' stores. Friends, associates and allies in design, Quant and Conran stood at the head of an informal but influential bohemian group who steered the rudder of style during the Pop era. 'The Chelsea Set' resist definition; there was no comprehensive members list. Conran/Quant: Swinging London – A Lifestyle Revolution explores the contributions of designers and artists from Laura and Bernard Ashley to Eduardo Paolozzi, Nigen Henderson and Alexander Plunket Greene, all of whom were essential generators of Sixties Style.
