Continuation to ecto-cancer: Actually, a cure is a good idea but it would be like vitamins: you have to take it all the time whatever connect with ghosts and the ectoplasmic pollution you have. Ghosts themselves are the source of radiation, even Danny and Vlad in their ghost form (can't say for sure about their human form). The strong dose of cure should be taken if you already has an ecto-cancer or in high risk (Valerie because her equipment is full of ghost energy and partically made from ectoplasm, Jack and Maddie, Casper High students after ghost infection — normal viruses and bacterial infections inflect to human health for the whole life — ghost infection? especially).

I guess this cure would not only save Jack and Maddie' reputation and freedom but their health as well. Just look how careless their with ectoplasm: Jack can drink or eat by an accident. They must already have cancer.

Also: Poor Vlad. After little research of halfas' ectoaura he will be officially not allowed for reproduction (with people) cause of high mutagenic risk.

Vlad: Daniel, you see, we can reproduce only with each other. We need each other. Daniel, wait, don't go, i was joking--!

DP x DC ramble: Types of power

Now, in this particular fandom, there’s a tendency to make an OP Danny

That’s a neutral statement, a lot of people just happen to like and post OP Danny

For the most part, not my taste but it can be fun in some contexts, but overpowered Danny isn’t my default

Now, Danny is physically strong. His abilities are combat focused and he can hold his own in a fight. He probably has a little less physical strength than you’d think since he uses gravity nullification to lift heavy things, but it’s impressive regardless. He has a goodly variety of offensive and defensive abilities that make him formidable is a fight

But the strongest characters in DC aren’t necessarily strong in that way

Superman is physically very strong, incredibly powerful, but he’s still nowhere near the level of the actual strongest characters, because their power is a very different type

Like I’m talking reality manipulation, omniscience, abilities that involve power over people’s very souls (and a ghost is a human soul) and where they end up. Psychopomps and some much more. I’m talking about beings that can mold the flesh of humans to remove something like a cancer and repair damage with barely a thought

And they’re mainly held in check by rules, mostly just being polite, sometimes Divine laws

This is a type of power Danny is not equipped to handle

It’s a very different game than Danny is playing. He can physically throw down, he might have an army if it’s Ghost King AU, but this is “can kill you with a literal snap and the snap is just for dramatic effect” territory

Danny is playing high school American football, these characters are playing Professional soccer aka what every other country calls football

It’s a very different game, and if he’s trying to play with them, he’s going to struggle

And that’s fine, he can still be OP and not be playing on the same field as Lucifer, or the Spectre, or various demon lords and so on, because it’s a different kind of power

But just arbitrarily saying he’s more powerful really undersells why they are powerful. Being able to punch good is not the same as a character that can just send him to the afterlife. Someone being able to reshape Danny’s body at their will isn’t going to be concerned about his ecto blasts

A Tuna is a big fish, but the ocean is VAST and DEEP

All this to say you’d have to drastically alter Danny’s actual power set to make him able to compete, otherwise you’re just de-powering the actual strongest characters, which is less impressive since it missed the point of WHY they were strong

Just because you can solve a sheet of math problems doesn’t mean you’re going to be able to ace a three page essay on the poetry of Keats

This has been my thoughts on the matter, be sure to grab a souvenir from the gift shop

Also just going to sneak this in:

Danny should probably be more concerned about magic users

Magic clearly can affect him, just look at the Freak Show incident from season one, that’s not even getting into the reality gauntlet. Now add in the fact that there’s a variety of magic items/artifacts in DC and a slew other of magic uses and occultists that can summon and bind ghosts, spirits, and demons to do their bidding

Danny is firmly in the category of beings that magic specifically deals with, he should probably be a bit more concerned about magic users

How would Sam + Tucker + Jazz feel about Ancient Vlad wanting to literally destroy their parents?… Would that be a deal-breaker for them, like it is for Danny?… Would they refuse to become Halfas + join Vlad, if it means their families and other innocent people will die? ☠️☠️☠️

I mean, I'm sure that they would, but the thing is that if we go with Vlad having engineered the Ecto-Herpies & he's already given it to them. And if I'm right that it was more of a cancer than actual acne, then that means that you can't really cure it, just send it into remission. Which means that it could always come back later.

And, I theorize that Sam & Tucker being possessed by Undergrowth & Duul Aman's scepter might've just taken them outta remission. Thus, it's sort of already been done.

In such a situation, then there's no real stopping it. It's already done & is only a matter of when, not if.

The Prodigal Son

Hey so this is for @nastyburger and their Dannyverse AU.  Just so you know, it’s an AU that may not make sense without checking them out

Danny B. Fenton snorted, ashen grey smoke erupting from his nose as Dani landed behind him. For the first time in years, he was at Fenton Works for christmas, home of now world famous ghost hunters Maddie and Jack Fenton, as well as their elder child, Jazzy. It was once his home too. He knocked on the door. He didn’t know why, since he was expected. He supposed he just hoped it was Jazzy who opened the door. He was afraid to phase in. His parents might not buy that they “just didn’t hear him come in” when he was the most anticipated part of the holiday. 

After a few seconds of silent waiting, Dani turned to her brother, silently asking if he really wanted to go through with this. And B wasn’t entirely sure he was. But, he’d promised Jazzy he would make an effort. The Fentons were old by now; it was why the elder child had returned home. The door creaked open, violet eyes glancing out before it was thrown open to reveal Madeline Fenton, hunched over with hair more grey than red, her hands rough and boney. Danny’s smile was still half formed when she latched onto him with a hug. Maybe it was his Core that had always caused him so much trouble, but she was cold to the touch. Most humans were. Silently, Maddie waved him and Danielle in. As soon as they crossed the threshold, Danny felt the house take aim at them, reacting to their shared ecto-signature. Danny had once removed its ability to sense him and Dani, but Jack had yelled at him when he’d realized. Danny had pointed out that it could’ve been Jazzy, but the Fenton patriarch had rebuffed that by pointing out Jazzy followed instructions. 

Soon, Jack approached from the tree, a somewhat strained smile on his face as he said, “‘Ello Daneil. It’s good to see you. Same t’ ya Elle.”

Danny nodded, “Hi Ja- Dad. and uh, yeah. Glad to see you both as well. Merry christmas.”

“If yer more comfortable callin’ me Jack, call me Sparrow for all I care. Haven’t been yer father in years,” Jack said gruffly. Danny noticed it sounded more irate than sad. More bitter than apologetic. 

The halfa siblings each raised an eyebrow and held up some bags (Elle had food, B the gifts), to which a younger, less bitter voice rang out from behind, “Food on the counter, presents are hidden in the guestroom.”

Danny hugged Jazzy much tighter than his mother had done to him. He’d been meaning to call her for ages, bur grading and hunting had been eating up his time. Despite not being back here in ages, he didn’t need to ask where the guestroom was, given that there was only one option. When he got up there, he snorted. The bright blue walls still had the fades that came from his posters; it was the same desk, so on and so forth. He wasn’t sure how to feel about it. 

“They didn’t touch it for years, ya know. They were hoping you’d,” Jazzy said with a pause, “come home.”

The redhead ran his hand through his hair and laughed horsley, “Considering how I left? Why don’t I quite believe it was a bilateral decision?”

Jazzy pursed her lips, not having a response to that. There had been a lot of yelling that night. Ancients, it had been Christmas Even then too. For the longest time, the most that Jazzy, Sam or Tucker had heard was that Danny Phantom was more and more active than had been normal. That his fire had been tinted blue. It had been a terse few weeks, and everyone was frightened out of their minds trying to figure out where Fenton was staying. When they found out Vlad had taken him and promised to hide him… It had been a difficult time. Loathe as the Phantom was to admit it, Plasmius had supported his human half in a way no one else could, and Danny was in his debt. 

Looking around the room some, Danny said, “I need to think about some stuff. You mind?”

Silently, Jazzy nodded and left the room, closing the door behind her. Danny looked around some more, and eventually found something he hadn’t seen in years. A picture of him with Sam and Tucker at eighteen, with the imprint of Dani in a nearly invisible red spot that almost no one else would see. If Danny had to hazard a guess, he was 19 here, and it was one of the last times he was happy at home. He sighed as he pocketed the picture and walked out. There was nothing more for him in that room, bar whatever present Jazzy had gotten him, he supposed. 

“Look who decided to join ‘is family afta all,'' snorted the old man from the living room. Danni glared at Jack, who snorted. 

Spitefully, Danny glared at his father and blew a smoke ring with his ghost sense. He knew it was childish, but Jack had been nothing but rude the entire time. To his surprise, it was his mother who glared at him with… a contempt usually reserved for Phantom... . Jack, for his part, almost seemed apologetic, before the mask was back on and he scowled. Both Jazzy and Danni rolled their eyes at their brother. 

Sensing the tension bubbling beneath the surface that threatened to lash out, Jazzy turned to Danielle, and asked, “So. Elle? What’ve you been doing lately? Last I saw on instagram you were in, Madrid, right?”

Danni nodded, “Yep. Met a cute girl or two, which was nice. But Spain isn’t for me; not a fan of their food compared to Italian. Actually I spent the last few weeks of my europe trip in Milan. But I guess I forgot to post it…” she shrugged. 

“Ooh, Milan. You have got to tell me all about it,” Jazzy said with a smile before she glanced at the falling snow. 

Danny tried to listen, really. But Danni had already told him about her time in Milan (and the girls she met there in some form.) He felt himself zoning out, before his father jostled his shoulder and led him down to the lab. Danny wasn’t sure what he expected, but the lab was still the best kept part of the house bar hi- bar the guest room. His father had to take an automatic chair to carry him down. The radioactive green of the portal still illuminated the basement, but there was now a glass container that Danny could tell was lined with ectoplasm to prevent phasing. Smart. The eldest fenton offered a beer, which the son silently turned down. But soon Jack had sat the two of them down, like when Danny was a kid. Then, Jack had called them their ‘boys talks,’ but now it was clear what this was. Two broken men, trying to fix themselves by fixing the other. 

“Now, you were always a bit oblivious on your best day. Which this most certainly isn’t. Suppose that’s my fault a bit. But, in case you hadn’t noticed. Your mother hasn’t said a word all day. Why do you think that is?”

Danny knew immediately, “Throat cancer. Jazzy told me a few weeks ago, when I was in Canada with Vlad… I tried calling, but…” 

Jack snorted, whether he believed his son or not being unclear, “Right. Ya know, when you were a tyke, I wanted you t’ meet Vladdie,” a snort, “more than anything in the world. But now? I wish I’d never met ‘im myself. Would’ve saved my family. Would’ve saved him, come to think. Regardless. I want you to tell ‘er. Before she goes. So she knows who you really are.”

The room went cold, as Danny knew exactly what Jack meant, and he tried to force the hurt down in a level tone, before asking, “You knew? For how long?”

“Knew you had powers immediately. Saw you fall through your floor, but you were too comatose from the accident to remember. Didn’t know you were Phantom for a while, but when Vlad won his first term- unanimous votes my ass- I realized somethings about him. Things were cemented when I saw you beat him into transforming back to human. If somethin like that could happen from Vlad’s accident…” he gestured to Danny.

Danny stood, eyes burning with tears and ectoplasm as he snarled, “You knew. You had to know I wasn’t some druggie. And you still let mom send me to rehab? You still wasted weeks of my life. You tore me from my friends. You still sided with Mom in almost every fight. How dare you ask for me to give her my secret now? You don’t care. You just want your guilt off your chest and think I can do that.”

“I’m the reason it was rehab and not the dissection table. Maddie was on to you, you know. By timing alone, and the devices going off. But I lied to my own wife, your mother, for months. I regret what I had to do, but not what I did. I saved my son.”

That gave Danny pause. He wanted to believe it. But years of being alienated from his family made him wary. Part of him screamed that if Jack was being honest with him, he wouldn’t have let Danny risk life and limb with minimal intervention. He wouldn't have shot at him. But the boy that wanted to be a family again ached at the possibility opening up. At being his parents’ son again. 

“Fine. I’ll do it. But after this? I don’t want to hear from you again, You’ll see me at the service, but after that, I’m gone.”

As he walked up the stairs, Jack sighed. Tears streamed down from the old man’s face. It was better Danny was angry at him, than the dying woman who’d nearly convinced him to experiment on his own son when they’d realized what happened. Jack didn’t see the incidents with Danny’s powers, it had been Maddie. And Jack had sent his son to rehab while he tried to talk his wife from the edge. He’d saved Danny, and all it cost him?

 His son.

Fun (scary) fact: Amity park's citizens will die of cancer, furthermore, at 'young' age (30-50's years) because ectoplasmic pollution (small particles or ectoplasm itself) in the air or in items ghost had possessed is a radiation. Human somatical cells mutate faster than they should. It also affects on their reproduction: the number of born-mutants will increase, problems with fertility as well. (Of course, halfas are immune, they don't care about poor people (Vlad got ecto acne before he developed this immune))

It could be an alternative subject for Danny's bioproject (s1 ep3). Ah, Sam, your little ghost boy could scared your classmates to death but you suggest to research gorilla's behaviour.

(I've just realised 80% asks for you was mine: ghost king au with pompous pep marriage, DP as anime?, omega/malewife Vlad, soulmates, contact infection au and etc. (but not Vlad's bites-detectors) I guess I talk too much :( )

That's very plausible! Maybe the worst thing about it is that it takes 10 years for all the cancer signs to show up, then another 10-15 years to figure out what's causing it. If the Fentons haven't moved out of Amity Park by then, they'll have to when angry mobs start showing up on their doorstep. Maybe things get bad enough that the GIW gets involved. The federal government comes under fire for allowing private citizens to pollute an entire town, intentionally or not, and Jack and Maddie are faced with the difficult choice of ending up working for the GIW (why let all that good research go to waste?) or going to jail for a long, long time.

And then Vlad steps in, perhaps after 20 years of living in recluse following the events of Phantom Planet. He's barely aged. He offers to help the Fentons out of their jam and redeem himself in the eyes of the world by developing a cure for the ecto-cancer he's been working on* (a derivative of the cure for ecto-acne that he received during the events of Masters of All Time), for which he needs their help.

The cure works, and the Fentons are allowed to continue their research under the supervision of Vlad Masters/Plasmius, who went from most hated man in the world to its beloved hero... and of course Danny is disgusted with this turn of events. (But at the same time he's also kind of glad to see Vlad again. The old fruit loop seems to have calmed down a lot in the past 20 years, and he did help his parents out of a terrible mess, basically restoring the Fenton family name... Maybe it's time to forgive and forget.)

* I like to think that after Vlad got out of the hospital in the early 80s, he stole the ghost portal plans from Jack, perhaps trying to find out exactly what was causing these strange new abilities he had. In the process, he ended up rebuilding the portal and correcting for all the flaws—such as leaking ecto-contaminants. (Maybe that was his role when working with Jack and Maddie: always better at improving upon ideas rather than coming up with new ones.)

Ancient Vlad is willing to spare Sam + Tucker + Jazz (by trying to turn them into Halfas), if it makes Danny happy… He refuses to spare Danny’s ghost-hunting parents though… How would Danny honestly feel about this? 👻

Honestly? I feel like that'd be the crux of their issues.

The fact that he wouldn't be willing to spare Jack & Maddie.

Though, I feel as though this Vlad, if someone were to be able to reason with him, would be willing to let the children live. After all, no one is evil by default. And children are the most impressionable. Therefore, they can be taught.

I also believe that Sam & Tucker would both be willing to go through with it. Jazz? Mmm... I don't think she'd be against it, but she wouldn't leap at the chance like Sam & Tucker would.

And, honestly? I feel like Sam might agree with some of Vlad's points. Think about it, she's goth & an animal rights activist & an environmentalist.

She probably doesn't have a lot of faith in humanity either. Obviously more than Vlad, but definitely much less than Jazz. And, I think that Vlad would clock this. I could see him talking to her & kinda using her own biases against humanity against her.

This could cause some interesting character conflict between her & Danny.

Though, I think she'd still have her own biases against Vlad, but at the same time, he'd sounded debate his way around them.

She's "eat the rich?" Both her & her grandmother are rich, money doesn't automatically make one evil, it's what one does with it that matters.

She's vegan & anti-meat & animal products seeing the ranching & dairy industries as abusive? He encourages her to visit any one of his many dairy farms to see if she sees even one unhappy cow & if she does, Vlad will handle the perpetrator personally by firing them. (I suggest that Vlad's family owned a dairy farm & he was always taught to raise the cows with kindness & has done so ever since.)

While not an animal rights activist himself, this Vlad, I think, would be very anti unnecessary animal abuse. This is due to his life before becoming a Halfa.

If we go the route of Vlad turning Sam, Tucker, & Jazz into Halfas, that could be what replaces the Masters of All Time episode, I believe it was?

In it, he'll have created the Ecto-Herpies entirely intentionally with the specific purpose of acclimating them more to ectoplasm. (Canonically, it's the Ecto-Acne as I tend to see the Ecto-Acne as more of a cancerous thing as it came back years later much like cancer can.) Which, they'd already be very acclimated to ectoplasm anyway, but this would make things easier.

See, Vlad just so happened to be lucky enough to have an Albanian ancestor (which, Lugats are an Albanian vampires) & if not for that & his Strigoi ancestor, he would've become exactly what his murderer wanted. (Seriously, go check out my Legacy 1 post. I go into deep detail. All relevant bloodlines apply.)

But, Sam & Tucker might not have the same luck as him. Jazz might as Danny survived, but even that isn't guaranteed.

So, you could call it hedging his bets.

DP - Broken Future AU

I have a confession to make.

One of my favorite pairings is DanxOlder!PlantSam. Like, I imagine that there is an alternate timeline where Danny didn’t manage to beat Undergrowth & died. In my thoughts, Sam eventually immunized to Undergrowth’s control & destroyed him by taking all of his power for herself & becoming a Halfa herself. However, the only reason it worked is because Vlad had infected her with ecto-acne, which I feel would act in a similar way to cancer, meaning once you’ve gotten it then even if you’re in remission, you can get it again. I've heard it be compared to ecto-herpies. Getting taken over by Undergrowth just restarted the process. Anyway, by then, like, half the human race has been used as fertilizer for Undergrowth’s plants.

In cases where defeating Pariah Dark causes Danny to become the next Ghost King, Undergrowth killing Danny transfers the crown to him & then Sam destroying Undergrowth gives it to her. Now, she's in-line to become Ghost Queen. She becomes the Queen of Thorns & has named herself Nightshade. When placed on her head, the crown & ring changes to take on the appearance of blood blossom wreaths, the crown having a dark, shadowy aura. Blood blossoms, from the perspective of ghosts, would be pretty threatening.

She takes Danny’s place as a protector of Earth even though she’s scorned by the rest of humanity for what she’d participated in, though against her will.

She turns 24 & Clockwork, like, fuses Dan’s broken timeline with her broken timeline, then sorta dumps Dan in the new product, sealing him to it.

Anybody who existed in both timelines sort of merge. So, the 2 Vlads merge & the product has memories from both timelines. Also, because Dan is half-Plasmius, he also gets the memories of the Vlad from Sam's timeline.

Sam ends up being the only one able to go toe-to-toe with Dan because of her unique ability to control blood blossoms & create weapons with them. Her preferred choice is to turn them into either a blood blossom whip or thorn rapier.

When they meet each other, it causes a lot of drama.

It’s friends-to-enemies-to-lovers & the idea is that he fights her for years, trying to destroy this new timeline like he destroyed his old one, but extended contact with his old friend & crush slowly brings out the parts of him that used to be Danny.

Or, who knows, maybe the parts of Dan that were Plasmius leads to him developing an obsession (not a ghost Obsession, just a regular human obsession) with her?

I see it becoming spicy, sexy, & maybe a little creepy. This is my guilty pleasure ship & I know that it’s wrong, but I can’t help it! Sue me!

I know that DanxSam is called both Evil Goth & Amethyst Blood, but DanxPlant!Sam has only Blood Blossoms for reference & that gets confusing. So, I feel like there needs to be a different name for the ship. Like, Evil Rose or Blood Rose.
