first major day of christmas baking. the houses are hot chocolate bombs, the trees, snowflakes and bunnies have a no-bake peanut butter bar filling inside, the bark has craisins and dehydrated marshmallows, the spoons are solid chocolate and the balls are leftover caramel from the caramel dipped pretzels that I will also be dipping in chocolate later today

the shapes are all painted and dusted with edible mica powders and the bark is holographic on the underside but I don’t have pics of that yet because I was doing this for 13 hours straight yesterday and I wanted to go to bed

#amazing how much easier chocolate tempering is when your thermometer is functional #today's to-do is dipping said pretzels licorice chocolate mint cookies and whatever my sister brings over to dip #also made potato chip cookies which are super yummy and easy so here's a recipe in the tags for you guys to try out #melt 1 bag chocolate chips 1 bag butterscotch chips and 1 cup peanut butter together in a microwave safe bowl #(you don't have to be precise with the peanut butter I just use two big scoops so I don't have to wash a measuring cup) #crush regular ridged potato chips and mix them in with all the melted stuff #scoop into mini muffin papers and chill and you're done time to eat them #my desserts

#I’m fine #idk it’s weird but I love the texture for some reason. It’s slimy with a lot of variations in consistency like wet seeds and pulp #I eat foods more for the texture than the taste but in the sense that I like more textures than the average person #I will eat anything once just to try it; and I will probably like it enough to eat it again (within reason… nothing unsafe) #I have to restrain myself in the presence of corn starch packing peanuts #because every fiber of my being is telling me to eat the whole bag like they’re cheese puffs (for the texture) #And packing peanuts aren’t cheap! #As a kid I’ve eaten brown paper napkins in the movie theater when my popcorn ran out because I wanted something to chew on #And I like to chew muffin wrappers like they’re gum to suck the flavor out of them #I also like dry oatmeal… powdery and hard with a bit of a “thud” when you bite into it #OH! And when I was nine I tried one of my dog’s rawhides because it looked and smelled so good when he was chewing it #Unfortunately it was too hard for my human jaws and baby teeth :( #I’ve also eaten a pupperoni dog treat just to try it… that was genuinely kind of a nasty texture #I was expecting it to be like beef jerky; but it did not chew or taste like beef jerky at all #Too much air in it… like dry spongy cardboard that flakes apart into fibrous chunks in your mouth #bleh
