The books Hive and Rogue, by A.J. Betts tell the story of Hayley, a young beekeeper girl who finds a drip in the ceiling, which leads to her discovering mystery, and eventually the truth of her Dystopian world.

I rate this one 5/5 personally!

Barbie Movie, Little Women and Fatphobia (Video Essay)

Hello Little Women Fans

I turned the Little Women and Fatphobia episode into a video essay and talked a bit about Barbie too (and the skinny model). I hope you guys like this one. Do freel free to share it as the message is really important to us all!

Some of the criticism towards the 2019 Little Women, is the fact that a lot of the promotion of the film included several fatphobic comments from Gerwig regarding Friedrich's character. Obviously this is not ethical or morally correct. There is a problem within Little Women researh, because there are Alcott's scholars who dismiss Friedrich as a love interst for Jo because of fatphobia. Based on her diaries Louisa May Alcott seemed to have liked more stout and stacked men, and she even critices the looks of the skinny men who inspired Laurie's character. So the statements from Gerwig and these scholars are in contradict with Alcott herself. Another character in Little Women who is plus size is Meg, but in the films Meg has always been played by a conventionally skinny actress. In the last Little Women Book "Jo's Boys" Jo has actually gained some weight. Family quite cruely makes fun of it. Louisa May Alcott also suffered from body dystrophia. She became ill after her service in the Civil War and she was treated with mercury. The mercury treatment caused some major damage in her body and created mood swings, increased her weight and hightened up testosterone levels in her body making her look more masculine than she was and causing her constant pains. When her fans saw her they went away dissappointed because she wasn't pretty. In Little Women, there is an idea that love beautffies a person. Jo and Friedrich are beautified by their love, in each others eyes.

Myotonin-Protein Kinase (DMPK) Introduction

Myotonin-protein kinase (MT-PK) also known as myotonic dystrophy protein kinase (MDPK) or dystrophia myotonica protein kinase (DMPK) is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the DMPK gene. The dmpk gene product is a Ser/Thr protein kinase homologous to the MRCK p21-activated kinases and Rho kinase family. Data obtained by using antibodies that detect specific isoforms of DMPK indicate that the most abundant isoform of DMPK is an 80-kDa protein expressed almost exclusively in smooth, skeletal, and cardiac muscles.[9] This kinase exists both as a membrane-associated and as a soluble form in human left ventricular samples. The different C termini of DMPK that arise from alternative splicing determine its localization to the endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, or cytosol in transfected COS-1 cells. Among the substrates for DMPK proposed by in vitro studies are phospholemman, the dihydropyridine receptor, and the myosin phosphatase targeting subunit. However, an in vivo demonstration of the phosphorylation of these substrates by DMPK remains to be established, and a link between these substrates and the clinical manifestations of myotonic dystrophy (DM) is unclear. Myotonin-protein kinase is a serine-threonine kinase that is closely related to other kinases that interact with members of the Rho family of small GTPases. Substrates for this enzyme include myogenin, the beta-subunit of the L-type calcium channels, and phospholemman. Although the specific function of this protein is unknown, it appears to play an important role in muscle, heart, and brain cells. This protein may be involved in communication within cells. It also appears to regulate the production and function of important structures inside muscle cells by interacting with other proteins. For example, myotonic dystrophy protein kinase has been shown to turn off (inhibit) part of a muscle protein called myosin phosphatase. Myosin phosphatase is an enzyme that plays a role in muscle tensing (contraction) and relaxation.

Mouse Myotonin-Protein Kinase (DMPK) ELISA Kit Test method

This kit uses sandwich ELISA to detect the concentration of  Myotonin-Protein Kinase (DMPK) The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Myotonin-Protein Kinase (DMPK). Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to Myotonin-Protein Kinase (DMPK). Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain of DMPK, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm ± 10nm. The concentration of Myotonin-Protein Kinase (DMPK) in the samples is then determined by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.

Klippel-Feil Syndrome aka congenital dystrophia brevicollis aka cervical vertebral fusion syndrome is when 2 or more bones in the neck fuse together during development, leading to a short and broad neck with limited movement. Unlike Klippel-Trénaunay(-Weber) Syndrome, KFS does NOT involve hyperplasia. Most commonly associated with mutations in the GDF6, GDF3, and MEOX1 genes. C2-C3 fusion is often autosominal dominant in inheritance, while C5-C6 fusion is often autosomal recessive. Life expectancy in <50 years due to associated heart defects. Treatment is therapy and surgery for the anatomical abnormalities. First described in 1885 by Maurice Klippel and Andre Feil.

Hi, anon! I think it would largely depend on Sebastian's circumstances. In hell, if the shape they wore no longer suited the gender identity (or absence of gender) with which they identified at a given moment, the demon could simply change form as they saw fit. Problem solved! The real difficulties might arise during a contract on Earth, especially if Sebastian's master insisted he maintain a single, consistent appearance. I imagine that young Sebas struggled to understand what human concepts of "gender" and the binary even meant at first. And depending on how long the contract lasted, it's entirely possible that the demon would experience frustration and dysphoria from not being able to adjust their body to best reflect their inner self. However, they might view that pain as one of the temporary sacrifices they had to make in order to reap the benefits of their master's soul farther down the road. But the demon is probably relieved that he isn't trapped in a physical body 24/7 like we mortals are!

i watched a youtube video of an interview with aimee lee wood, the actress who plays aimee, and she talked about filming the opening scene of sex ed topless whilst dealing with body dystrophia disorder. the fact that she boldly and bravely did that in spite of fear, anxiety, and presumably 100 other negative emotions is so amazing. she did it because she knew impressionable girls would be watching the show and seeing themselves in her character, engaging in sexual activity and not being shamed and not having “perfect” bodies. she said she wanted to tell the story as honestly and well as she could, and the environment was really safe during those scenes. her strength makes me feel as if i can carry through my struggles with ED recovery, and if you guys are dealing with any of these issues, i hope you feel seen and that aimee’s bravery will help you as well. if you’re not, which is FANTASTIC, i hope u learned something really neat because i had no idea. maybe i’m just late LOL
