The Dutch public really went "fuck you, we're sick of the way your neoliberal free market economics have ruined our country for the past decade" and voted for the racism party instead

I needed a new research rabbit hole to fall down to and it's become klederdracht (Dutch traditional costume) so now I've put some books in the library on hold and I've fallen in love with the concept of oorijzers and I'm having a great time

januari

Apparently they're organizing demonstrations in Amsterdam and Utrecht about the election results and I'm seeing some extremely stupid takes online. No, protesting because you don't want to see the biggest party, which got 25% of the votes, ruling the country is not antidemocratic. It's not election denialism, it's sending a message from the other 75% of voters to the party they've voted for that they're against forming a coalition with that party. It's not antidemocratic because democracy doesn't just start and end in the voting booth - this is an essential part of the democratic process.

Dutch media was full of zionist narratives already of course, but so far it seemed like nothing in comparison to Germany.
but ever since the protest against "Israeli" president Herzog's presence at the opening of the holocaust museum, and the TERRIBLE media coverage about this, it's been REALLY going downhill in terms of shit the news wants to blow out of proportion.
almost all politicians, including ones that formerly voted as one of the few in favour of pro-Palestinian policy proposals, are going along with the sensationalist fake news by Dutch zionist lobby group CIDI (similar to AIPAC in the US).
it's been really depressing seeing media coverage become more and more one-sided zionist crap and seeing the leader of the rightwing party (they pretty much all are, but yk) VVD called for hard repression and for pulling pro-Palestinian people from their beds.
almost all parties, including fascist ones like FVD and JA21 with members that made antisemitic jokes and attend neo-nazi meetings, abruptly voted in favour of a motion against "antisemitism", in response to digusting misrepresentation in the news on protestors bothering a diehard zionist celebrity who supports her family members that are committing genocide in the IOF.
FUCK the CIDI, the government, every zionist out there, and fuck the Netherlands. fakest "progressive"shithole you can find.
