Finding Home- Dabi x Fem! Reader
This is my submission for Day 6 Places of @konoblog-simps server collab
Warning: Angst, Lots of Fluff, Soft Dabi
WC:2k
Leaving everything behind was the best decision he’d ever made. He was finally free, especially after emptying the bank account his father had for him. Nothing was holding him back. The few days after the big fight the anger was still there. It didn’t come to any physical blow but felt as if there had been. There was no looking back now, he will no longer be the unwanted son. He could change his name, his personality, and his whole story. He could be the person he truly wanted to be.
His first destination was the small city of Takayama in the Gifu Prefecture. The city always held a special appeal to him since it was known for the olden style of Japanese Culture. Something he’d always been interested in since a young boy. He stayed at the Hida Takayama Hostel for a few days. On the last night, he decided to stay at the Takayama Ouan with its breathtaking view of the city. It was here where the two of you met. Both of you spent your time talking about your future dreams and plans, and just enjoyed one another’s company.
The next morning he was planning on moving to a small picturesque town in the southern islands of Japan. ‘It was the perfect beginning to his new life.’ he told you. You decided to join him before continuing your next adventure. Here, the two of you spent two days watching the perfect sunsets the beach was named after. Most people didn’t pay any attention to you both assuming you were lovers lost in the moment.
You two exchanged numbers, in case your paths were fated to cross again. He left for Singapore, and you to South Korea. The few days spent with you left a wonderful impression on Dabi. The following days since Japan Dabi couldn’t stop thinking of you. The way your face lit up when talking about something you were passionate about, or the way you giggled when you were excited. It was those honest and earnest emotions from you he truly enjoyed. The memories helped him on the long and tedious train ride from Singapore through Malaysia. He got off a few times to get food or walk around.
Every stop he thought of calling or texting but restrained himself from doing so. He didn’t want to seem needy or clingy. A week later, when he was staying at a little hostel in Kluang in Malaysia, sipping on the most delectable cup of coffee when his phone chimed from you. You had sent greetings and wished him well. You had traveled through Russian and sent pictures of yourself at the Kremlin. How happy you looked in your picture. He wished he would’ve just joined you at that moment. He sent back well wishes and shared that he was currently enjoying a cup of coffee, with the promise to be the first one to text next time.
As the world trek continued for him, he found himself wandering through China trying all the delicacies he had heard about as he traveled. He spent a few days looking at the pandas, walked along the Silk Road, and saw the Terracotta Army before making his way through Mongolia, and taking in the breathtaking scenery of the grasslands. From Mongolia, he headed to Russia.
When he arrived at the Kremlin in Moscow, he stood exactly where you did, and snapped an identical picture to yours. He texted it to you as soon as he took it. He wore a small smile. You had texted him you were enjoying the beautiful colors of the Grecian seas, and how delectable the food was. He promised to visit Greece as soon as he could but had wanted to visit Mumbai, India first. You smiled knowing that you weren’t truly on this trek alone.
A few weeks had passed after the last text. You decided to text him to check on him. You found out he had been to see Mumbai, and sat on the famous Konkan coast. He also went to Jaipur to try Rajasthani cuisine and the street food in New Delhi. From there he went to Greece to learn and see the architecture of Athens, see the beautiful city of Santorini and see the first university in Greece.
He currently was in Lyon, France, while you were staying in Paris. He had plans to come to Paris in a couple of days. You made plans with him to meet in three days in Paris at a little restaurant called La Maison Rose in Montmartre. You were excited to see him, to say the least. You spent that morning going through all of the clothes you packed only to choose basic black slacks and a black shirt.
When you arrived you saw Dabi sitting at a table he definitely stood out against the Pink building. Your breath caught in your throat looking at him. When he looked up he saw you smiling. You knew that most people stared at him most of the time, and he did a good job ignoring them most of the time. However, with you, he seemed to fidget under your gaze. You weren’t sure if it was because you made him uncomfortable or if he was just like that.
“Hello, Y/N.” He greeted you with a kiss on each cheek. You felt electricity run through your body.
“Hello, how have you been? How is your trip going?” You asked with excitement. The two of you shared the highs and lows of your adventures, the pictures, and every ridiculous story you could. When the day got later you and Dabi grabbed dinner and wine. The feel of the city may have gotten to you, or perhaps it was the alcohol. You took Dabi back to your room and participated in evening affairs, as two lovers would do. This continued for another week. Waking up in his arms, enjoying the Parisian life with tourist flair, and getting to know another human through scandalous endeavors, and philosophical discussions post-coitus were the highlight of your time together.
You two had not discussed what would happen afterward, but deciding to part ways was a mutual agreement. You traveled south to Portugal and Spain, and he went north to the UK, Scotland, and Ireland. Another month had passed before you two had contact. For you, it wasn’t the most wonderful of occasions, but the positive pregnancy test you held in your hand deemed the matter important enough. You hoped he would be some sort of knight in shining armor, but you didn’t put a lot of faith in it. When you reached his voicemail all hope deflated, and you abruptly ended your trip and headed home.
Two more weeks had passed, and while you were still debating on the fate of your unborn child, you wondered what Dabi was up to. After his time in Morocco, he had traveled to Johannesburg, Durban, and then Cape Town in South Africa. When he was finally able to charge his phone properly for more than an hour, he heard your voicemail. His first thought was to call back since it had been two weeks since you had left the voicemail. You didn’t leave any clues or hints to the importance of your message, but you knew he’d call when he could.
It was early when you received his phone call you were in the middle of getting ready to work. You picked it up assuming it was your mother asking you to run an errand after work for her, or your boss asking you to work another double shift today. When your eyes looked at the name on the screen, your heart stopped for a brief second. You grew more and more nervous as you brought the phone to your ear. Without thinking, you pressed the green button.
“Hello.” Dabi’s voice said on the other line. “Hello? Y/N? Can you hear me?” His voice melts your insides. You thought back to the week you spent in Paris together tangled up in one another not caring about anything else.
“Hello?” You finally said into the phone.
“Hey, I am sorry about not calling you back sooner. I haven’t been able to charge my phone properly for some time. How are you doing? How’s your trek going?” His voice seemed light and carefree with a hint of exhaustion.
“Yeah. I am good. I have been back home for about 6 weeks.” You told him as nonchalantly as you could.
“Is something wrong? Are you okay? I thought you had another two weeks left?” His voice was gentle and full of surprise.
“Actually, I have something to tell you. The reason I ended my trip so abruptly was that I found out I was pregnant.” You felt nauseated from telling him. On the other line, you heard some shouting.
“Sorry, Y/N. I have got to go, but I will call you again as soon as I can.” Dabi rushed to say before hanging up the phone. The news hit him like a ton of bricks. He couldn’t remember exactly where you said you were from. He hoped he could find you on any social media site and figure it out from there. After an hour of searching, he figured out you lived in a small town in California. He immediately booked a flight to the closest Airport and hoped that would be enough.
Three days later without any phone calls or news from Dabi, you gave up. You figured that if he really cared, he would’ve called, or at least text you. You were in the middle of your day off when you heard the doorbell ring. Your mother was home for the day and you let her answer the door. From your room, you heard a deep voice speaking with your mother, but you couldn’t make out the words.
“I am very sorry ma’am, I was hoping to find Y/N here, but it seems I have the wrong house. Have a pleasant day.” Dabi spoke and turned around to leave. You rushed down the stairs and saw him.
“Dabi!” You cried out. He lifted his head at the sound of your voice. You tore down the stairs and straight into his arms. You hugged him as hard as you possibly could. You were astonished to see him standing before you, you started to cry. He wrapped his arms around you and buried his face in your hair. He stood and let you cry. Your mom walked away to let you two have a moment. After some time, you seemed to have calmed down. Dabi got down on one knee and proposed to you. You happily agreed.
In the months following, Dabi found a full-time job and rented an apartment for the two of you and the baby. You had a small wedding with your family present. A couple of years after the baby was born and you felt more stable, you planned a vacation for the three of you. You wanted to surprise Dabi and try to reconnect him with his family. After many phone calls to his parents when he wasn’t home. The three of you made your trip back to Japan. You thought back to where it all began on that serendipitous meeting. When you arrived at the airport you were met with open arms from Dabi’s family. You learned about his life growing up and his real name, which you promised to call him only when he was in real trouble.
In a quiet moment alone, Dabi took you aside, kissed you passionately, and thanked you for bringing him home to his family. A few days later, his mother and father thanked you as well. They loved seeing him as a loving husband, and doting parent, but most importantly you brought him back to them. Now their family was whole again.

• 28th Māori Battalion
The 28th (Māori) Battalion, more commonly known as the Māori Battalion, was an infantry battalion of the New Zealand Army that served during the Second World War.
The 28th (Māori) Battalion had its origins before the start of the Second World War. In mid-1939, as war in Europe began to be seen as inevitable, Sir Āpirana Ngata started to discuss proposals for the formation of a military unit made up of Māori volunteers similar to the Māori Pioneer Battalion that had served during the First World War. This proposal was furthered by two Māori MPs, Eruera Tirikatene and Paraire Paikea, and from this support within the Māori community for the idea began to grow as it was seen as an opportunity for Māori to participate as citizens of the British Empire. At first the New Zealand government was hesitant, but on October 4th, the decision was announced that the proposal would be accepted and that the battalion would be raised in addition to the nine battalions and support units that had already been formed into three brigades of the 2nd New Zealand Division. Nevertheless, it was decided that the battalion's key positions, including its officers, non-commissioned officers (NCOs) and signallers, would initially be filled largely by New Zealanders of European descent. This decision was met with some consternation, so assurances were made that over time suitable Māori candidates would take over these positions. In this regard, it was decided that the battalion's first commanding officer would be a regular officer, Major George Dittmer later promoted to lieutenant colonel in January 1940 and that his second-in-command would be a Reserve officer, Lieutenant Colonel George Bertrand, a part-Māori who would take up the position with the rank of major.
Almost immediately effort was focused upon selecting and identifying the officers and NCOs. To this end volunteers were called for among units that had already formed as part of the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force (2NZEF) and from new recruits. At the end of November, 146 trainees reported to the Army School at Trentham, where even serving officers and NCOs were required to prove their suitability for positions in the new battalion. Concurrently, recruiting of men to fill the other ranks positions began in early October and within three weeks nearly 900 men had enlisted. The process was carried out by recruiting officers who worked closely with tribal authorities, and the recruits were restricted to single men aged between 21 and 35, although later married men were allowed to join, but only if they did not have more than two children, of similar ages. On January 26th, 1940 the battalion came together for the first time, marking its official raising at the Palmerston North Show Grounds. Upon formation it was decided that the battalion would be organised upon tribal lines. The unit consisted of a headquarters company and four rifle companies, designated 'A' through 'D': 'A' Company (Kamupene ā – Ngā Kiri Kapia – the Gumdiggers) was recruited from the Northland to Auckland ; 'B' Company (Kamupene B – Ngā Ruku Kapa – Penny Divers) from Rotorua, the Bay of Plenty and Thames–Coromandel; 'C' Company (Kamupene C – Ngā kaupoi – The Cowboys) from the East Coast from Gisborne to East Cape and 'D' Company (Ngāti Walkabout) from Waikato, Maniapoto, Hawkes Bay, Wellington and the South Island, as well as some Pacific Islands and the Chatham and Stewart Islands.
February saw the issuing of equipment and the commencement of training; punctuated by medical inspections and dental treatment as well as ceremonial duties. A lack of previous experience in technical trades also hampered the battalion's training, as the unit was short of men who were able to serve in roles such as clerks, drivers and signallers – most personnel were drawn from mainly rural backgrounds. Consequently, candidates for these roles had to be trained from scratch. The organisation of the battalion was finally completed in March, when the men were allocated to their respective companies, and on March 13th, 1940 the 28th (Māori) Battalion was declared on active service. After 14 days leave, the battalion conducted a five-week concentration period before embarking on May 1th, 1940. The battalion's strength at this time was 39 officers and 642 other ranks. Sailing upon the Aquitania via Fremantle and Cape Town, the battalion arrived at Gourock, Scotland, after six weeks at sea. Initially they had been destined to join the rest of the 2nd New Zealand Division in the Middle East, but due to concerns about a possible invasion of the United Kingdom by the German Wehrmacht, the decision was made to divert the division's second echelon, a brigade-sized force that included the 28th (Māori) Battalion, to Britain to help bolster the island's defences. In late June or early July 1940 the 28th (Māori) Battalion was attached to a mixed brigade under Brigadier Harold Barrowclough. During this time they manned defences in the south of England and undertook further training. The battalion suffered from a lack of equipment, largely due to the priority given to re-equip British units following the losses suffered by the British Expeditionary Force in France, and consequently training was largely focused upon anti-gas procedures and route marching. On July 6th they were inspected by King George VI and he was said to have been impressed by the "smartness of the close order and arms drill of the Māori Battalion" and "by the fine physique, keenness and determined demeanour" of the men.
Shortly afterwards the Mixed Brigade began quick deployment and defensive manoeuvres in earnest, as fears of invasion grew. In between exercises, further training was undertaken and the battalion also worked to improve fixed defences throughout July, August and into September. In September, a divisional review was undertaken and amidst massive German air raids upon London, the New Zealanders were declared to be ready for front-line service in the event of a German landing. Warning orders for deployment to Egypt were cancelled and the New Zealanders were placed under command of XII Corps, taking up defensive positions in the Folkestone–Dover region. In October, the Māori Battalion was attached to "Milforce", under Dittmer's command, along with a squadron of tanks, a squadron of cavalry and a medium machine gun company. Later in the month, the battalion received the order to begin preparing for redeployment to Egypt and an advance party was dispatched in mid-December. On January 7th, 1941 the rest of the battalion left for the Middle East. After sailing via Freetown, Cape Town and Durban, the Athlone Castle sailed up the east coast of Africa and entered the Suez Canal, arriving at Tewfik harbour on March 3rd, 1941. In the afternoon the battalion entrained and two days later they arrived in the desert, where they were met by motor transport which carried them to camp Garawi, about 20 miles (32 km) from Cairo. At this point they were met by about 300 reinforcements which were used to replace men who had been laid down with influenza and to bring the battalion up to a higher establishment. Shortly afterwards they were moved to Alexandria, where they embarked on the Cameronia, bound for Greece.
On April 6th the German invasion of Greece and Yugoslavia began. In order to help defend Greece, a composite force of three divisions of Australian, British and New Zealand troops were to be deployed, and were grouped together under the title of 'W' Force. However, by the time the invasion began only two of the three divisions had arrived, and the New Zealanders were consequently spread thin, holding a position to the north of Katerini, where they were tasked to defend the strategic Olympus Pass to the south. During this time, the 28th (Māori) Battalion was attached to the 5th Infantry Brigade, which was later grouped with other Australian and New Zealand units to form the Anzac Corps. Vastly outnumbered, within two days the situation for the Allies was not good as the Germans had broken through the defences along the Bulgarian border and the Yugoslav resistance had collapsed. As the situation worsened, orders came down from brigade headquarters that the passes would be held "to the last man and last round".
On April 9th, the fall of Salonika precipitated the order for the battalion to withdraw from their positions at Katerini south to Olympus. As events unfolded elsewhere, the battalion remained in position, digging in and constructing defences until April 12th when they were ordered to withdraw behind the Mavroneri Gorge and reposition themselves on the western aspect. At this time the 5th Infantry Brigade's orders were changed from a holding action to a delay and withdrawal. It was in the Petra Pass, alongside the 22nd Battalion, that the 28th Battalion fought its first engagement of the war. In preparation for the coming attack, the Māori built their position, running out barbed and concertina wire and digging in while German bombers droned overhead. As German forces were halted at Platamon by the 21st Battalion, thrusts towards Larisa once again put the battalion's position in doubt and they were again ordered to withdraw. In the end the Māori remained in position until April 17th. Throughout the previous two days the battalion worked hard to repel repeated attempts by elements of the German 2nd Infantry Regiment to infiltrate their lines, before they finally received the order to fall back. Withdrawing over difficult terrain towards the pass, the manoeuvre continued into the night as the Germans continued to harass their rearguard units. The move was carried out with considerable urgency because the intention was to blow a bridge up just after the battalion had withdrawn across it in order to delay the German advance. In the end the battalion only just made it. After meeting motor transport, the battalion moved back to Ay Dhimitrios, which they began to prepare to defend in order to help seal off the exit of the Olympus pass. The withdrawal continued, though, and on April 19th the Māori Battalion was called upon to conduct a delaying action as the rest of the 5th Infantry Brigade pulled back through Larisa towards Lamia, 80 miles (130 km) south. Here they took up position in a marsh and as they made preparations for its defence, on April 22nd, in Athens, the decision was made that the units of the British Commonwealth forces would be withdrawn from the country.
Over the course of the next two days, the battalion withdrew towards Athens, where they arrived in the early morning on April 24th. They continued on to the beach at Porto Rafti, destroying their vehicles and other equipment as they went. In the confusion of orders and counter orders, the battalion's carrier and mortar platoons had gotten separated from the rest of the unit. By 9:00 pm on April 24th when the final move to the beach commenced they still had not arrived. Of the various groups that had become detached from the battalion, some were able to make their own way to the embarkation beaches, but a number of them were ultimately captured. The battalion's casualties in Greece were 10 killed or died of wounds, six wounded, 83 captured, 11 wounded and captured. After being evacuated from Greece, the Māori Battalion embarked upon the landing ship, infantry HMS Glengyle and was taken to Crete where they formed part of the island's hastily formed garrison. On May 20th, 1941, the Germans launched the opening stages of their campaign with large-scale glider and parachute drops of troops from Maleme to Canea. The landings were focused around the airfield and no troops landed in the area being held by the Māori, nevertheless, a small force of glider troops were found to be occupying a house on the beach about 0.5 miles (0.80 km) from them. A platoon was dispatched to attack them and after a brief fire-fight in which two New Zealanders were wounded and eight Germans were killed, the 10 remaining men in the house surrendered. The main German attack was focused upon the 22nd Battalion which was defending the airfield. Hard pressed, late in the day the 22nd requested reinforcements and the 5th Infantry Brigade commander, Brigadier J. Hargest, sent one company from the 23rd and one from the 28th. The task was given to 'B' Company and, as the company commander only knew the direct route, they had a night approach march of over 8 miles (13 km) to cover. During the march they came in contact with a platoon-sized force of Germans which briefly held up the company before reinforcements could arrive.
The German force surrendered, but in doing so one of their number threw a grenade at the New Zealanders, wounding two men. In response the Māori fixed bayonets and carried out the first bayonet charge by a New Zealand force during the war, killing 24. A short while later they killed another eight in a separate engagement. Continuing on towards the 22nd Battalion, they bumped into a number of small pockets of Germans before eventually linking up with the 22nd Battalion's headquarters where they were told to return to their own lines as the decision had been made to withdraw. Eleven hours later the company reported back to the 28th Battalion's lines. Over the course of the next ten days the battalion was involved in a series of engagements as they fought to defend the island, with the most notable probably being the bayonet charge that they undertook with the Australian 2/7th Battalion at 42nd Street on May 27th, in which 280 Germans were killed, with the Māori accounting for 100. However, it soon became clear that the garrison on Crete would need to be evacuated and on 28 May the bulk of Creforce began to disengage the Germans and begin the retreat towards Sfakia. The 5th Infantry Brigade took turns with two Australian battalions and the commandos of Layforce to carry out a rearguard action to guard the pass through which the troops had to traverse in order to escape. On May 30th, the final order was received, although due to shipping losses it was not possible to evacuate everyone. In order to maintain fairness, each battalion was allotted a certain number of men who would have to remain and defend the embarkation beaches to allow the others to get away. The 28th Battalion was allocated 230 men to embark, while six officers and 144 men would have to stay behind. A large number of men volunteered to remain, and at midnight the remainder headed down to the beach and were taken off on a landing ship two hours later. The battalion suffered 243 casualties during the brief defence of the island, including 74 men killed and 102 men wounded.
After their escape from Crete, the 28th (Māori) Battalion was evacuated to Egypt where they were re-issued with summer uniforms and began to receive reinforcements. In June they carried out a ceremonial parade for King George VI and the Queen, and the commander of the 2nd New Zealand Division, Lieutenant General Bernard Freyberg. Throughout July, the battalion undertook desert familiarisation training before moving to Kabrit where they concentrated with the rest of the 5th Infantry Brigade for a three-week combined operations exercise. Later, in August, they moved to a position 20 miles (32 km) west of El Alamein, known as the "Kaponga Box" where throughout September and into October they undertook the unfamiliar task of road construction. In October, the brigade received orders to link up with the rest of the division in preparation for their commitment to the battle along the frontier. Their first task was to capture the seaside town of Sollum, which was taken on 23 November from its Italian garrison with only a few casualties. Follow-up artillery inflicted 18 killed and 33 wounded. Two hundred and forty-seven Italian prisoners were taken. Following this, the 5th Infantry Brigade was placed under the command of the 4th Indian Division and the 28th Battalion took up positions near Bardia. Three days later the battalion attacked a column of tanks and motorised infantry before ambushing a column at Menastir on 3 December. Later, notable actions were undertaken at Gazala and at Sidi Magreb where over 1,000 Italians prisoners were captured. Following this, the battalion was deployed to Syria before returning to Egypt in June 1942. Now officially under the command of a Māori for the first time Lieutenant Colonel Eruera Love.the Māori took part in the 2nd New Zealand Division's breakout from Minqar Qaim, undertaking a successful bayonet charge. At this time, the battalion's skills with the bayonet earned them a reputation as "scalp hunters" among German commanders, including Rommel. In September and October the battalion took part in important actions as part of the offensive in the Munassib Depression and at Miteiriya Ridge during the Second Battle of El Alamein. In November the battalion supported the final breakthrough by Allied forces that decided the outcome of the battle. Nevertheless, the battalion remained in the fighting and in March 1943, at Medenine it undertook a defensive role before switching to the offensive at Point 209 in the Tebaga Gap, where it was responsible for almost completely destroying a German panzer grenadier battalion. Two weeks later, on the night April 20th, 1943, the battalion took part in the 5th Infantry Brigade's attack on the Tunisian village of Takrouna. The village was situated atop a steep slope, and the attack stalled due to heavy concentrations of indirect fire and landmines, which wounded a number of men. The battalion returned to Egypt with the 5th Infantry Brigade in late-May and underwent a period of refit and retraining, during which the bulk of the original unit was given three months leave and returned to New Zealand.
Having taken no part in the Allied invasion of Sicily in July August, the 2nd New Zealand Division was committed to battle again in late 1943 as part of Eighth Army during the Italian Campaign. The Māori Battalion subsequently arrived in Italy on October 22nd, landing at Taranto. 5th Infantry Brigade undertook a period of training in close-country tactics, remaining in camp at Taranto until 18 November when it was ordered to move north 250 miles (400 km) to join the Eighth Army. The 2nd New Zealand Division had moved into the front line in November in order to relieve the 8th Indian Division and would take part in the advance across the Sangro planned for the end of the month. The brigade subsequently occupied positions around Atessa, with the Māori Battalion in brigade reserve, occupying a series of low hills which formed the Sangro river valley. During December the 2nd New Zealand Division took part in the Moro River Campaign. By this time the attacking battalions had exploited forward towards the Winter Line and the Māori Battalion moved forward by truck on December 1st, crossing the Sangro. Heavy congestion on the road delayed the battalion's movements, and although scheduled to assault towards Elici, they arrived to find the 23rd Battalion and the Division Cavalry had already completed the task. The Māori were again ordered into reserve, occupying positions 1 mile (1.6 km) east of Castelfrentano. As part of the Fifth Army's advance up the Liri valley, the Māori Battalion's next major engagement came in early 1944 when they took part in the fighting around Monte Cassino. The position at Cassino was dominated by an historic Benedictine monastery. Throughout January the Allies continued their advance, but as they were checked by the German positions at Cassino the advance stalled. They met very stiff resistance, and although they managed to reach the railway station they were unable to wrest control of it from its defenders. Lacking armoured support, which had failed to arrive, they fought through the morning and into the afternoon, but when their position was assaulted by two German tanks they were forced to withdraw. In March they were again involved in fighting around Cassino, however, it was not until May that the position was eventually captured, by which time the New Zealanders had been withdrawn from the line, and transferred back to the Eighth Army.
In April 1945 the battalion returned to the front line to take part in the final stages of the war. On April 1th, the battalion entered the line near Granarolo along with the rest of the 5th Infantry Brigade and for the next month they were involved in five main battles along the Senio, Santerno, Sillaro, Gaiana and Idice rivers as the Allies pursued the Germans back towards Trieste. It was in Trieste that the Māori Battalion's war came to an end. Their involvement in the final stages of the fighting in Italy had cost them 25 killed and 117 wounded, while losses for the entire Italian campaign were 230 men killed, and 887 wounded. On May 2nd, 1945 news was received that all German forces west of the Isonzo River had surrendered. While this did not officially end the fighting in Italy, it was all but over. Five days later, on the night of May 7th, the battalion received the news that Germany had surrendered unconditionally to the Allies, and that the war in Europe was over. Nevertheless, tensions remained high and concerns about the intentions of Yugoslavia regarding the disputed province of Istria meant that the 28th (Māori) Battalion remained on high alert. This continued until early June when an agreement was reached and Yugoslavia withdrew its troops east of the Isonzo River. Following this the routine of the battalion became more settled. Afterwards, preparations began for the battalion's return to New Zealand. The war with Japan continued however, and at the time it was believed that the Māori would take part in further operations in the Pacific. New Zealand policy at the time was that long serving men were to be repatriated and their places taken by men with less time in service. In this regard, commencing in late May, drafts of men departed in the order of their arrival at the battalion. On 15 August 1945 news was received of Japan's unconditional surrender, ending plans for the battalion to take part in further combat in the Pacific. In September it was decided that as part of the departure of New Zealand troops from the theatre, memorial services would be held at the locations of the division's major battles. The last batch of long service men had departed shortly after the battalion's arrival at Lake Trasimene.
Throughout the course of the war, 3,600 men served in the battalion. Of these, 649 were killed or died of wounds while another 1,712 were wounded. Another 29 died as a result of service following discharge, while two were killed by accident during training in New Zealand. The Māori Battalion's service against the Germans in North Africa earned them a distinguished reputation. Such was the respect that Allied commanders had for the Māori Battalion that they were frequently used as a spearhead unit. Bernard Freyberg, the General Officer Commanding of the 2NZEF, commented, "No infantry had a more distinguished record, or saw more fighting, or, alas, had such heavy casualties, as the Maori Battalion." The battalion's reputation was also acknowledged by their opponents. Some sources state that the Afrika Korps commander, Erwin Rommel remarked,"Give me the Maori Battalion and I will conquer the world".

IN MEMORY OF MY MOTHER (10.05.1915 – 03.06.1992)
She was a retiring sort of person who preferred to stay at home. Yet she was always interested in people, and nothing pleased her more than being in the company of those she cared about and was interested in. What struck most who knew her was that she was a true listener. Some said this of her: that when you were in her company it was as if you were the only person in the world that mattered.
Tumblr media
Elfrida Mary (Moore) Walker was born on 10 May 1915 in Bloemfontein, and once the nursing home pronounced the baby and her mother fit to leave, they journeyed home by ox wagon, traveling for two full days, outspanning overnight on the banks of the Modder River.
Tumblr media
My mother and I in the mid 70s.
Her parents were British immigrants who had sailed to South Africa only five years earlier. Randal Moore, a sheep farmer and a Scot, had been farming in southern England when he met his wife, Elizabeth Visger (Visscher), daughter of a medical doctor whose father and grandfather were Dutch American immigrants to Britain. My mother was the youngest of five children. Betty, Colin and Helena were British born, but Maurice had been born on their South African farm, Oubrakfontein, three years before my mother’s birth.

My mother’s parents, Elizabeth nee Visger (Visscher) and Randal Moore.
A farm some miles north of the dorpie Dealesville, about 45 miles west of Bloemfontein on the road to Kimberley, Oubrakfontein is where my mother spent the first ten years of her life. She always spoke of Dealesville and Oubrakfontein, right to the very end – and those names, and the images they conjured up in me, were as familiar to me as were my own life’s names and images.
Her reminiscing always included the pepper tree. It stood towards the rear of the house, and appeared to have functions associated with the kitchen. My mother spoke of various items that would be hung from its inner branches in a makeshift gauze and wooden cooler box, such provisions gaining benefit from the shade and breeze. The rear side of the house, facing south and away from the sun, brought relief to the family, their British constitutions unacclimatized to the hot Highveld summers, and a deep veranda with inelegant recliners often featured in her recollections.
Tumblr media
The family at Oubrakfontein. Betty, the oldest, had already left for boarding school in England.
Indoor life centered around a handsome marble fireplace, and a piano. The house was softened and cheered by treasured furnishings and heirlooms shipped from England. My mother talked of evenings filled with singing, as the family gathered round their cherished piano, my grandmother playing.
In the early years, before my mother’s birth, relatives had visited from England. After their return, in a letter to another relative, there was the remark, “They live too close to the earth. And Betty is acquiring a Colonial accent.” So Betty, having attended St Michaels School in Bloemfontein till then, was sent away to boarding school in England, and Colin to St Andrews in Grahamstown. During Betty’s schooling, World War I broke out, and she did not return for many years. My mother was five years old when she first met her sister.

Education was difficult for the younger three, Dealesville being too far away for daily travel. So a live-in governess was employed. Her name was Miss Paton. Her nephew was to become one of South Africa’s most celebrated authors, Alan Paton, of Cry The Beloved Country fame. My mother told me of their endless efforts to find a way to be outside rather than in Miss Paton’s classes.
She told me about their clambering up the wild olive trees on the ridge, to look across the salt pans that went on to the horizon; about their swimming in the small river pools after rains, where once she nearly drowned; about her horse who’d wait, when she had fallen off, so that she could mount again. She talked about the sheep pens, dry stone walled, where she took refuge after quarrels with her brother; and her sorrow on the day her brother ‘killed’ her doll and she, in lonely grief and ignorance, believed that it was dead, and buried it.

Life was not easy on the farm. Droughts and locust swarms depleted grazing and, although sheep are tough and hardy animals, my grandfather had learnt his trade in the soft and fertile pastures of southern England. The harsh and dry conditions of the western Free State took their toll. Finally it became necessary for my grandmother to live in Dealesville with the children, so that she could supplement their income by dressmaking, and the children could attend the school. In 1925, ten years after my mother’s birth, they concluded a deal to lease out the farm.
After 15 years at Oubrakfontein, they packed up their life on the farm, and left.

My grandmother had returned to England for a spell. During her stay an aunt had fallen ill and she remained to nurse her, only returning a year later. An inheritance enabled her to fund my mother’s high school years as a boarder at St. Mary’s, Kloof, near Durban.
I do believe this was a Godsend for my mother. She spoke wearily and with little enthusiasm of her Sezela years. It was a hard thing for an eleven year old girl to lose her mother for a year, while her older sister was preoccupied with the courting of her future husband. Directly after school she trained as a nurse at Durban’s Addington Hospital.
Her nursing years number amongst her happiest times. Her mother’s family produced several in the medical profession. Her grandfather was a doctor as was her great grandfather. Her mother, while not a trained nurse, learnt alongside her own father in his surgery annexed to their home. Betty trained as a nurse on her return to South Africa, and their mother’s brother was a doctor in England. So it was a natural vocation for her to fall into, and she thrived.

My father, Graeme Walker, at the time my mother met him.
After a spell of nursing at the Harrismith Hospital in the Free State, she moved to the Piet Retief Hospital during which time World War II broke out. This resulted in a move to the Transvaal, to the Middelburg Military Hospital where, in due course, she met my father. After his return from North Africa in 1941, they had a hasty wedding on the Berea in Durban, then both took up military positions, she at the Wynberg Military Hospital in Cape Town, and he at Sonderwater in the Transvaal. They lived apart for the first two years of their marriage.

My sister, Helen, was born late in the war and at five years old there was a relocation to Bloemfontein.  Once they had bought and moved into a spacious suburban home on the northern outskirts, John and I were born, less than a year and a half apart.

All five together for the last time, in the mid sixties, a year or so after their mother died. From left to right, Betty, Colin, Helena, Maurice, and my mother, at Helena’s home in Sezela, Natal South Coast.
For me there will always be one real home in my life, and that home was the one I grew up in, and my mother was central to that home, and she remains central to my memory of it. I have hosts of memories of her, too many to begin sharing, during the first two and a half decades of my life while that home was still our family home. Instead I’ll pay three tributes to her:
She had a sense of humour that is memorable. Somewhat subtle, often quirky, always gracious, she never minded at all if she became the object of the joke. And her good heartedness, her consideration, and her kindness would never permit offense to others.
She loved foot tapping music. It was in her blood. Her mother and her sister, Betty, were classical pianists. But my mother was a syncopation player. Both her brothers played in a dance band, one the guitar and banjo, the other the concertina and, during the breaks, my mother would fill in on the piano. Her sister, Helena, was known for her ear for vocal harmony, and would simply take up the harmony line on anything. So we grew up with music in our ears. We all took lessons, and someone was always at the piano, practising. But when my mother went to the piano, and lifted the lid, and sat down, there was a particularly good feeling in the house; and invariably it would start with her old favourite: Happy days are here again.
Tumblr media
My parents on a day out in the Free State countryside.
Over the years, long after giving up nursing as a career, she used her skills to alleviate family suffering: she nursed her father until he died, then her mother some years later, and then her sister, Betty, enabling them to live in dignity at home until the end. During my father’s several serious illnesses, she was always there with that same untiring commitment – to nurse and to alleviate suffering. It was one of those extraordinary blessings we had as a family. I have never felt in safer hands as I felt in my mother’s care when I was sick.
*****
The last eight years of my mother’s life were in Maritzburg. She had been suffering from several conditions and her health was declining, but the move enabled Helen and me to see both her and my father more regularly. Family gatherings with my brother down from Joburg were not infrequent, and my sister was a stalwart in her final years.
In the winter of 1991 my father was struck by a speeding car outside their flat and suffered serious injuries, but he made sufficient progress in his recovery to enable them together, towards the end of that year, to enjoy their 50th wedding anniversary, in the company of a large crowd of relatives on both sides of the family.
Tumblr media
During her final years in Maritzburg. From left to right, my sister Helen with daughter Liz, Helena with son Elliott, my mother and me (front).
Just less than seven months later, very early one morning in mid winter, my mother left us.
*****
My father lived another three years after she had gone.
Betty lived for many years in Northern Rhodesia (Zambia). Colin lived for many years in Kenya. Both returned late in life. Maurice always lived in Durban. Helena married in Sezela and never left the Natal south coast, and was the last of them to die. Not one of them ever left Africa.
*****
In the fourth year after the passing of my mother I had a serendipitous opportunity to visit Oubrakfontein for the first time. I booked a night in the Olien Hotel in Dealesville, where my mother and other family members had stayed over 60 years before, having traveled there for the purpose of concluding the final sale of the farm, ten years after they had left.
It was a blustery afternoon in early summer, a dry forlorn wind blowing from the west. Thin grey clouds moved in steady trails across the sky, the dry veld grass hunched and knotted, the distant windmills chopping endlessly.
Tumblr media
I stood in the yard of the farm. Assaulted with insensitive outer renovations, the house stood sad and squat, its character quite changed. I went inside and found the living room. I had a sense I knew it from my mother’s words. Abandoned for many years, almost derelict in parts, I sensed it held an element of its former character. I ran my finger along the mantelpiece above the fireplace and, from beneath the dust, the marble came up smooth, unharmed. I stood a while. It was there the piano had stood. In my mind I heard the tinkle of soft notes, the chorus of young voices. The walls were thick, uneven. I stood beside the doorway to the back, the sides worn from countless shoulders brushing past, and I could almost hear their voices, sense their ghosts, returned.
Outside, I wandered to the pepper tree, gnarled and ancient, its inner branches reaching out, resigned and empty. I walked to the ridge where the olive trees grew, and saw the salt pans that went on to the horizon. I found the sheep pens, veld grass long established where the sheep had stood, their dry stone walls still standing nearly eighty years after my mother touched them. And I touched them too. And there I sensed the comfort of the sheep, the softness of their wool, the warmth, the scent of lanolin.
Tumblr media
A bleak and windswept day, not without a touch of sadness, and yet I felt a profound connection to the place. An empathy of coming home. A sacred reverence and respect for souls long gone, yet remaining, forever rooted in this place.
Perhaps my last thought on that day, a thought that lingers still, was this: where in this lonely place, left so long abandoned and forgotten, lies a perished broken doll, forever in its shallow grave.

It all started with one taxi!
Growing up in the family business of scholar transportation, all William Mokgethi dreamt of was to become an independent and respectable taxi owner. After 15 years of experience in this familiar sector, William decided to establish Montsamaisa Bosigo Transport in 2013, initially ferrying commuters and school children.
“I started my business with just one taxi and a dream to increase my fleet. To realise this dream, I decided to join the Black Umbrellas programme as I knew I needed more business support, resources and a clear strategy to reach my goals.” says William.
Since joining the programme, Montsamaisa Bosigo Transport started to redefine its service offerings. Today, the company is a 100% shuttle and courier service that offers safe, easy and accessible transportation with valid PRDP’s drivers to the public, private and government organisations, scholars and transportation of goods. To ensure that this new clientele is satisfied, the company has now employed seven permanent staff.
The Black Umbrellas’ Mooinooi incubator started to utilise Montsamaisa Bosigo Transport shuttle services in 2017 and later moved to servicing two other incubators in the Gauteng Province. In this same year, the company took home the Best Black Umbrellas Ambassador award.
When asked about his biggest achievement thus far, William beamed with pride as he explained “We offered our services in Rustenburg, Mooi Nooi, Pretoria and Johannesburg so when we were contacted by a Durban based company, Lanxess, who found us on Blackpages, we were truly inspired to dream beyond Gauteng and the North West. Nevertheless to say, we were awarded the contract in October 2018”.
Blackpages is an online enterprise and supplier development portal connecting big business to smaller black enterprises to transform procurement in South Africa. In addition, meaningful development assistance is provided to Blackpages members via online learning, mentoring and financing platforms.
Our Mooi Nooi incubator is proud to have Montsamaisa Bosigo Transport as a graduate client. It is inspiring to be part of the success of a business that is client centric and constantly working towards growing.

Best Places for Surfing in Africa
Africa is endowed with a long coastline stretch that borders three oceans and several seas.
Along the thousands of kilometers long stretch are found some of the most spectacular surfing destinations in the world.
We have compiled a list of the ten most famous surfing spots in Africa. So, here we go, surfs up bro!
10. Busua Ghana
Busua is considered Ghana’s surfing Capital. With a gentle right-hand point break characterized by hollow beach break, Busua is a great place for newbie surfers and those who just have little skills to advance.
Just an hour’s drive west of Takoradi, Busua is an ‘endless summer’ destination for those who have made it their surfing destination.
Here you can easily interact with very hospitable Ghanaian locals – both surfers and traders, and from all walks of life, as you enjoy a great summer surfing experience.
9. Skeleton Bay, Namibia
For experienced surfers who dare have a challenging adventure, Skeleton Bay is the typical destination. Roaring currents, cold-shouldered waters, and fiercely competing waves makes this a scary place for newbies and those not skilled enough.
The barren crust-yellow sand beaches ensures that current flow is unhindered, yet, a relentless foresight for those who would like to witness a land falling into a distant horizon while enjoying their surf.
The plenty of shipwreck skeletons (from which Skeleton Coast/Bay derive their names) can be a reminder that this place is not for the faint-hearted.
This is a must-tour place for surfers who want to experience the dryland folds of Namibian beaches. Surfing season rests between May and September.
8. Ponta Do Ouro, Mozambique
Ponta Do Ouro (“Point of Gold” in English) Ponta Do Ouro is one of the best surfing sports on the East Coast of Africa.
This is one of the prime spots in the Southern Africa tourists’ circuit. It is one of the best holiday destinations along the south-east coast of Africa.
This right-hand point break that provides almost a kilometer ride, comes with a big surprise – the company of bottlenose dolphins. Here you are assured of a good company of them, especially during the Southern Hemisphere’s winter season.
Besides surfing, scuba diving can also be carried out within the same range, which makes this one of the best spots in Mozambique for both surfers and divers.
7. Durban, South Africa
With both left and right breaks, New Pier is the most popular surfing destination in Durban. Renouned for being the Africa’s surfing capital, Durban boasts of world-class infracture that makes tourists from Western capitals feel at home.
For those who are just beginning, tolerant waves are found down south at a place called Vetch’s Pier. Vetch’s Pier is the front side of the world’s famous Ushaka Marine World.
Those experienced enough can get further north of Gold Mile to encounter places like Dairy Beach, North Beach, and Beach of Plenty.
Surfing experience in South Africa is one of a kind. It is part of a full tour package where you can enjoy Africa Safaris as you witness some of the world’s best kept game secrets.
The biggest benefit of Durban is that it has plenty of surfing spots that offers all-year-round experience. For those who would love surfing in warm waters, Durban is the place to go.
6. Anakao, Madagascar
Madagascar is Africa’s largest island. As such, it has a long coast with beautiful beaches. Anakao is the most famous surfing spot on this island. Among the breaks, Flameballs has the reputation of scaling a height of up to 8 feet.
However, Anakao can be a challenge for newcomers. Those not experienced enough should move to Jelly Babies. This left-handed break is more tolerant compared to the right-handed Flameballs.
Both Flameballs and  Jelly Babies are found on the South-Western part of Madagascar – just south of Toliara.
5. Robertsport, Liberia
On the West African coast, Robertsport is one of the best surfing spots. This is a unique place found in Liberia just about 3-hours drive to the North-West of Monrovia, Liberia’s capital city.
The famous Kwepunha Retreat awaits those who would like to board or enjoy a breathtaking West African cuisine.
Among the most famous breaks in Robertsport, Fisherman’s break and Cotton are the most well-known. Cotton is famous for its long, mostly hollow waves which are ideal for tube-riding.  Fisherman’s break is reputed for being the most loved by long-boarders.
Apart from Cotton and Fisherman’s breaks, there is Shipwreck hideout for those who want to gain a different kind of experience.
Robertsport experiences south wrap swells that, at their best, can rise up to 6 meters and provide a guaranteed surfing length of 200 meters.
Robertsport provides the best surfing season between April and August.
4. Taghazout, Morocco
With fantastic right-hands, Killer Point is the most beloved surfing point north of Africa. It is also the best of this restive village of Taghazout, Morocco. Other nearby spots include Boilers and Anchor Point.
Boiler point which derives its name from the shipwreck’s boiler found within the vicinity is one of the most thrilling yet extremely challenging surfing spots in North Africa.
It is one of the most loved spots for surfing photographers in the world. This is due to the challenging encounters that push surfers to make some of the most spectacular maneuvers.
Anchor Point is famed for its consistent waves at all tides and clean lines. The waves can stream over a length of 300m to 500m and reach a height of between 3ft and 15ft.
Due to its proximity to Southern Europe, Morocco is a loved surfing destination for tourists on a short season trip.
The best surfing season is during winter which spreads from September to April. During this time, bigger swells are pushed to the vicinity by the North Atlantic storms.
3. Praia Do Tofo, Mozambique
On the southern end of Tofo’s eastward beach rests the famous Tofinho Point. Tofinho Point is a right-hand reef break that is just about 15 miles east of Inhambane.
Warm waters, consistent waves, and stunningly beautiful reefs make Tofinho Point one of the most unique surfing spots, not only in Mozambique but also in the world.
The best surfing season at this warm spot is between June and August. It is also a season that coincides with the Whale migration.
2. N’Gor Island, Senegal
N’Gor Right remains the most famous and unrivaled break along the coast of West Africa. It sets the theme of “The Endless Summer” one of the most iconic movies of the 1960s.
N’Gor Right is found on the N’Gor Island which rests not far off Cape-Vert Peninsula, and just within the vicinity of Dakar, the Capital City of Senegal.
Apart from N’Gor, Amaldives is another great place for surfing. It is located at the end of Cape-Vert Peninsula, just a few meters from Dakar.
The best surfing season ranges between November and March – for those who want to experience a daring adventure of surfing on formidable waves. However, September and August are ideal for newbies as the waves are much calmer and more dependable.
1. Jeffrey’s Bay, South Africa
South Africa is home to another great surfing place – Jeffrey’s Bay. Jeffrey’s Bay rests in the Eastern Cape province – another historically renowned province of South Africa.
Supertube is its most loved break in Jeffrey’s Bay. This 4-8 foot right-hander is one of the few places in Africa that hosts a World Surf League event – the J-Bay Open.
J-Bay, as is fondly known by locals, rests on iconic East Coast beaches of South Africa just about 50km south of the famous Port Elizabeth. It is commonly referred to as “surfing Mecca of Africa” due to the constant patronage it receives due to its fanatic surfers.
Other than Supertube, there are a host of other breaks, including Kitchen Window and Albatross.
The best surfing season rests between June and September.

Spotlight Series: Julie Domingo
From a background in Tech and sales, Julie Domingo made the transition to the cannabis industry by taking on the role of General Manager at Aura Dispensary in Vancouver. She was integral to building out the brand and the retailer's reputation as a premier dispensary in Western Canada. Since then, she has gone on to found Calaxy Academy - a cannabis business training service that helps entrepreneurs launch their cannabis brands. She is also a mentor and a facilitator at CannaReps Retail Professional Training program for cannabis retail workers.
In our inaugural print publication (shipping in July!) we highlight Julie's accomplishments along with nineteen other women making waves across the North American cannabis industry. Before July 1st, you can pre-order the magazine here and save 30% off the cover price.
How did you get involved in the cannabis industry?
For more than half my life, I have enjoyed cannabis as it helped me connect authentically with others in a fun way. When using cannabis, it provided me an opportunity for introspection and creativity, therefore creating deep and meaningful relationships. While I was developing my professional career in technology sales and training, I was known to geek-out on technological innovations and no one could guess that I was a cannabis user from the outside. When I moved from Alberta to Vancouver 3 years ago, I was sought out by a medical dispensary to lead the team, integrate technology systems and take it to the next level. As I researched and helped patients in the medical dispensary, my perspective opened to understanding the healing properties of cannabis and passion grew exponentially. I received so much intrinsic value by adding comfort and compassion to people that were using cannabis therapeutically. As a result of my passion and hard work, the medical dispensary won Lift Awards 3 years consecutively (for Aura Cannabis). Recently, I developed neuropathic pain and it incited me to diver deeper into my cannabis research. Frustrated by the inconsistent and sometimes conflicting information available, I enrolled into the CannaReps training program and received an abundance of information that provided expert level product knowledge and safe consumption guidelines for all product types. I was so inspired by the CannaReps training program that I joined forces with them to expand their reach and educate as many cannabis industry workers as possible.
Tell us a little bit about your product or service
CannaReps is Canada’s first community-founded cannabis training and mentorship program. Our goal is to develop compassionate, knowledgeable, and ethically responsible cannabis professionals who understand the needs of cannabis users. Our evidence-based curriculum is developed to improve public health and to raise the standards of the cannabis industry. We are the only interactive training program in Canada, using personal coaching and ongoing peer support to build real skills for the real world.   Experience sells more responsibly.
What time does your day typically start and what does a normal day look like to you?
My Apple Watch vibrates and wakes me up at 6:45am to initiate my routine that includes a yoga and meditation practice, a delicious smoothie and a walk with my dog. I exchange jokes with my husband as we commute downtown and arrive at the CannaReps office that consists of a majority of high performing women. If I am not running meetings to establish collaborative partnerships, I develop course material, or run workshops for our students. A day doesn't go by without me using my microscope and geeking out on cannabis.
What is your vision for your company going forward?
To build a community of knowledgeable, compassionate, ethical and successful professionals in the cannabis industry by providing accessible and experiential education to our students. Soon people from all over the world will come to CannaReps to learn and experience cannabis.
Tell us about some of the challenges you face working in the cannabis industry
I thought working in the technology industry moved fast, but the cannabis industry moves even faster and is more dynamic. There are always new research findings, new innovative products or extraction processes, changing regulations, and overall uncertainty in the cannabis industry. I also see an interesting mix of grassroots influencers and 'corporate' individuals coming together (or sometimes clashing). Overall, I feel that the cannabis industry is very collaborative and a special time where anyone, regardless of sex, race, age, or illness can create positive change in our world. As the industry moves fast and changes come on a regular basis, you need to be flexible and adapt quickly.
What is one thing you wish everyone knew about cannabis?
The euphoric high is not as extreme as someone may think, and when used cautiously and safely, it can provide an intimate experience that changes your life and opens your perspective in a positive way.
What is one thing you wish everyone knew about your product or service?
The hands-on learning experience can develop your skills unlike any other educational setting, and the connections you make within our community become deeply meaningful. We are one of the only training companies in Canada that truly appreciates cannabis on a connoisseur level and we teach our students to share the same passion.
What is your favorite way to consume cannabis?
I enjoy rolling and smoking a joint most of the time as it's a great way to share cannabis. I seek the 'White' lineage strains like White Widow, White Russian, White Rhino, but also enjoy giggle inducing strains like Durban Poison and relaxing Afghani based Indicas.  As innovation extraction processes are developed, I am getting into High Terpene Full Spectrum Extracts, as long as they are free of residual solvents. Concentrates is great for instant relief as I can consume it indoors discreetly with no fire or smoke. Using an electronically heated dab rig is the way to go, but a vape pen is great for being on the go.
Do you think cannabis legalization will change the world for the better? Why?
Absolutely. Cannabis use creates an opportunity for people to connect and bond and establish a sense of community when I feel these days people are more disconnected in our fast paced society. The therapeutic benefits provides comfort and ease for those dealing with illness, pain, or stress. On an emotional level, cannabis use can lower our internal barriers and we become more expressive connect into our true self. With cannabis legalization, the negative stigma will diminish (over time) and offer people an educated choice of what they want to experience personally.
What advice would you offer to another woman who is looking to get into the industry?
Look at people that inspire you, hold yourself up to that same standard, and execute on your idea. Your execution is a reflection of you, not your ideas or aspirations. The cannabis industry is very supportive, especially between women and we truly help each other out. This is another reason why I love this industry. Reach out to me if you ever need help or a boost.
