One thing I love about Fig's school arc is that it counters a lot of the utopic teen ideas about how high school and being a teenager "should" work. Teachers trust your abilities enough to let you do whatever you want? Swaps classes mid-way through the semester in JUNIOR YEAR, pretty much ensuring that she won't be able to get the full benefits of any of the classes she is taking/has taken. Parents/Guardians that don't prioritize or even really care about academics? If no one cares she has very little reason to actually try, let alone learn good study habits or try to plan for the future.

Get to pursue your passion and live your dream life as a rockstar? That's a full-time job hun, people build their entire lives around something you're trying to squeeze between night classes and solving mysteries. I hope you aren't feeling too tired, you need to write that album we already paid you for. Idk, I just think it's fun to see all the ways having no rules or supervision can be just as detrimental to a child as having too many.

The amount of especially gay men I've seen talk about how happy they are to finally get to have gay romances w character like Wyll and Gale who have these extremely romantic and tooth-achingly sweet romances more than makes up for any surface level of representation we often get from a lot of explicitly xyz character imo

Like you can very obviously have a Hallmark™ romance for any character regardless of orientation, but there is a tendency to only give those to straight romances, in addition to making it like "9 straight characters and 2 gay ones" where the gays ones have less effort and content to them. So I honestly prefer this option where it's just an ambiguous mess until they figure out how to be less weird about orientation locked romances in general

#tag talk #as much as I hate to see the social cinema grow as I get new followers. we're at a good and satisfying number. and I like that #also also also. I've introduced a friend to Hannibal (tv show) and he's loving it and I'm so happy cause none of #of my other friends have been able to stomach the body horror. so it's super cool to find someone to hype over it with #another random story that I genuinely can't remember if I said already. got told by a kid in minecraft that he's smiled a lot more around me #which. huge compliment. genuine honor to make people happy and smile and laugh #people don't laugh enough. we don't smile enough. be happy or die. and I'm too powerful to die. been there. haven't done that #cry and then laugh and then punch as hard as you can. #got to visit some of my favorite residents from the nursing home I first worked at. lotta new staff but my three favorite nurses are still #which is nice.
