6/15 was Kabane's ReBirthday
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's not known when his real birthday is, hence why there's nothing on his profile in volume 1.
However, it has been decided that 6/15 would be his 'second birthday', since it's the day 'Dorotabou' died and 'Kabane' started his new life.
Aimoto first talked about it in June 2018, just a bit before 6/15, using that same wording. Now the next part is my hazy memory, but it's definitely a thing that happened before June 2018 but long after March 2017 (vol 1 release). A fan proposed 6/15 to be Kabane’s Birthday because that's when Dorotabou died. Later, Aimoto QRTed that tweet saying that's a nice idea.
Tumblr media
Even in kemoji 2021 calendar 6/15 is listed as 'The day Kabane started to walk as Kabane' instead of '[Character's] Birthday'.
And a little fun fact, but even all those years later, it's still 2016 in kemoji, mostly likely autumn or around it. So Kabane is 2002 or 2003, depending if he has just turned 13 sometime before June 2016 or if he was 13 already and is turning 14 later.

A list of creatures in this bestiary:
Okay, I thought this blog was a bit chaotic, so I attempted to create some clarity by making a "library page" with links to all the creatures I posted articles about so far. The idea is that I'll post a link to this page at the end of future posts, and also update this list with every new entry. (But keep in mind that I'm still fairly new to this site and I may be doing everything wrong as I have no idea what I'm doing.)
I also grouped some mythologies together for convenience, but clarified whenever possible.

Tumblr media
Kohachi is a special kind of detective. He works with occult and supernatural things. He recently took a job in the countryside looking to mutilated animals. While there, he takes notice of a boy the natives call Dorotabou. With his interest peaked, he starts spending more time with him and eventually takes him under his wing and has him join his detective agency. But there is more to this boy than Kohachi realises, and soon more people will take an interest in him.

Anime Spoylight - Kemono Jihen
I really enjoyed this series as I love youkai and shounen battles. A nice little mix of horror and action that was sadly overlooked by coming out the same time as Jujutsu Kaisen.
The plot follows Kohachi Inugami, a detective who specializes in the occult, arrives at a remote village in the Japanese countryside, tasked by a hostess at a local inn to investigate a string of incidents involving rotting and mutilated livestock corpses that have been appearing for seemingly no reason. While surveying, Inugami notices a peculiar young boy working in the fields. Evaded by his peers and called "Dorotabou" for his stench, the young farmhand is surprised that anybody would take an interest in him. Inugami, piqued with curiosity, enlists Dorotabou in helping him with the investigation, despite scorned looks from the villagers. Unbeknownst to Dorotabou, this investigation will reveal a strange new world to him—one of the beast-like entities known as Kemono existing in tandem with humans—along with breathing new purpose into his previously empty life.
The series is nicey animated and fun and intriguing, it has good love and mythology with interesting characters with interesting pasts and abilities. Its got some nice gentle and cute moments to balance out its darker moments and is worth watching. I feel it was a little short and stops when it really starts going so I hope there is another series.
It also has two adorable characters that need to be protected in Akira and Kon. Really want to spend more time seeing these character grow as well as seeing how the mystery and battles promised play out.

When a series of animal bodies that rot away after a single night begin appearing in a remote mountain village, Inugami, a detective from Tokyo who specializes in the occult, is called to investigate.
While working the case, he befriends a strange boy who works in the field every day instead of going to school. Shunned by his peers and nicknamed "Dorotabou" after a yokai that lives in the mud, he helps Inugami uncover the truth behind the killings - but supernatural forces are at work, and while Dorotabou is just a nickname, it might not be the only thing about the boy that isn't human.

I have some nice ground types. I’m planning on revamping my naked mole rat line at some point. It’d also be a neat idea to make a Dorotabou, I could probably merge it with an older idea for a tar mastodon. At any rate, I’m caught up with all the types Bogleech has reviewed now.

The Dorotabou from Gegege no Kitarou, a Youkai-themed manga by Shigeru Mizuki.
This concludes today’s creature posts.  Two people have requested the Chimera, so I'll try to feature that tomorrow.  I’m very busy right now, so I’ll be taking a break soon.
Addendum: This is by Shigeru Mizuki but it isn’t from the Gegege no Kitarou manga.  This and other exclusive art pages were included with Gegege no Kitarou animé D.V.D.s.  Also, the Chimera feature was postponed.
