I completely understand if you don’t feel comfortable answering this, but my mind is spiraling out of control and you’re the only person I know with the level of knowledge to where I can feel comfortable asking this without getting some form of “bla bla we live in a safe state don’t worry.”

I’m sincerely wondering if I need to be making plans to leave the country in the event of November bringing the most horrible of outcomes despite our best efforts (and yes I’m planning to vote blue in everything I can); as a AFAB in CA?

I know about project 2025. I’m terrified. Forgive my pop culture reference, but I feel like a version of Princess Zelda staring down a barrel of possible doom while everyone around me is like “nah that future you literally had a nightmare about where they made it illegal for a woman to have a bank account without a guy co-signing it and took the money from everyone who didn’t comply by a certain date isn’t even a possibility!”

I’m just confused about my life and am trying to take it day by day, and exercising every right while I still have it to prevent this outcome, but it feels weird making plans and retirement accounts and just general Setting Up Adult Life And Future Things™️……while wondering if I even have a future in this place at all and I’m just making it harder to escape if need be.

I’m sorry I’m rambling, and I guess I don’t know what I’m asking since no one has a crystal ball.

But I guess, it’s stuff like how much can the feds effect state’s policies? Is it possible for them to immediately block international travel for all women practically upon inauguration? How much time would I even have to gtfo if the worst begins?

Bc honestly this whole thing feels like the lead in to a very nasty chapter of a history book, and even though I have hope we’ll have another blue tsunami, it can be hard to try and figure things out when it feels like there’s barely any historical precedent for any of it.

Welp. Okay. First of all, I am giving you a comforting hug, I am walking with you to your favorite coffee shop, I am paying for your favorite beverage and also a baked goodie of your choice, and we are sitting down in a corner where we can talk honestly. So that's where I want you to imagine us having this conversation.

To start with, yes, I completely understand this feeling of utter, paralyzing doom, where I am trying to go about my daily life and make plans for my career and carry out daily tasks and Be Responsible while there's still just this total void beyond the end of the year, the utter impossibility of knowing if we will have dodged an absolutely massive bullet and finally be safe (since if Trump loses again he is 100% going to jail in the next four years) or, well. You know. That is a very hard way to live, when you're wondering if anything is going to matter and you can't see beyond that black cloud of fear on the horizon. It sucks you down and tells you that nothing is worth doing now in case it just gets so much worse. I am not going to tell you not to feel that. We all do. We are all scared. That in and of itself is a perfectly normal way to feel.

However, there are things you can do both now and if (I repeat, if) God absolutely forbid, the worst was to happen (again). First of all, we have already lived through a Trump presidency once. It was terrible and scary and awful and demoralizing as fuck, but we can do it again if we absolutely Goddamn fucking have to (once, again, God forbid). Second, you are currently about as safe as you could be in California. Newsom has proven himself to be smart, tough, able to run rings around Republicans, and unwilling to comply with their stupid performative-cruelty directives. He's not a saint or a magician, but you don't need that; you need a shrewd politician able to fight back, and he has proven himself willing and capable of doing that. So as long as he is governor, you're going to be more safe than not, and I'd also like to ask all the shrieking Online Leftists if, should the shit go down, they would rather live in a state with a Democratic governor who will fight Trump 2.0 every step of the way, or a Republican governor who will just roll over and obey. (But that would destroy their BOTH PARTIES ARE THE SAME talking point, so you know.)

Next of all, even if the Republicans are doing their best impression, America in 2024 isn't Germany in 1934. There are different tools, different ways to fight back, and different awarenesses/social media/visibility factors. I also need everyone to remember that just as Biden can't just sign an executive order and fix everything everywhere, Trump can't just sign an executive order and fuck everything everywhere, just like that with no more discussion ever. He tried that last time, it generally didn't work, and trust me, at least this time nobody is sleeping on the danger he poses. His candidacy in 2016 was dismissed as a long-shot joke that nobody took seriously until it was too late, and for better or worse, people aren't doing that this time. He will be sued instantly, incredibly, and repeatedly with everything his band of wannabe fascists try, and since we have had four years of Biden fixing the courts from where Trump trashed them, that does mean something. There is no scenario where even if he does issue some outrageous order against women, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, etc (which to be clear, I'm sure he would try) it would just be carried out completely, immediately, and with no feasible way to stop it. Evil is evil, but it is also stupid, clueless, determined to hurt people just for the hell of it without any regard for what is possible or which will be allowed, and there's a lot more grey area in there than just "Trump says something terrible and it's instantly done, the end."

Once again, I'm not going to say that the worst-case scenario is not possible, but I don't think it's likely, and even if that does happen, there are ways for us to survive and fight back (again). Nobody wants it and it should not have to be asked of us due to the utter collapse of the social, civic, political, and intellectual fabric of this country thanks to the TrumpCult, but once again... these people are so loud and dangerous and cruel and stupid because they are in the minority. Etc. etc. polls are garbage, but we did just have an interesting piece of empirical data from the Iowa caucuses. Trump -- in one of the whitest, most rural, most conservative, most religious, most Trump-loving states in the country -- struggled to break 50%. Almost half of a rabid Republican fully-Trumpized electorate, among the diehards sufficiently motivated to get out and caucus in extreme freezing weather, voted for someone else (Haley and DeSantis took about 20% apiece). Now, no, we don't know how that will translate to the general election, and if registered Republicans will flock back to the nominee even if it's Trump, but as almost half of Haley voters said they would vote for Biden if it was a Biden-Trump matchup in the general, there is some sense that Trump is an aberration to their otherwise ironclad party loyalty. Now, Republicans are the fucking worst and nobody should be relying on them to save us; we still need to get out and vote for Democrats with all our might. But Trump is no longer barn-burningly popular even in core Trump heartland, and it'll be interesting to see how things go in future primaries.

My point is: I know the feeling that evil is awful and unstoppable and all-powerful, and will crush our lives and our futures no matter what we do to resist it. I really, really do. But Trump is a terrible candidate, he's running literally only to keep himself out of a long, long prison sentence, and if he had crushed the Iowa caucuses regardless, we might be having a different conversation. However, we need to remember that it is possible, again (God forbid) in the worst scenario, to resist, to live, and to win. Everyone who is motivated to work for a better world will still be here. Everyone who can help you and all of us will still be here. And there are more of us than there are of them. Yes, I do understand the feeling that we need to have contingency plans in place, I do absolutely know that it could get very bad, and all that (as you say, nobody has a crystal ball). But for now, I want you to take a deep breath, try to take this day by day, and remember that this is not a crushing and inevitable future that will sweep over you and destroy you without you (or any other person of good will) having a say in the matter. You still have agency, you still have the ability to protect yourself, and you still have others who will protect you in turn. You're not alone. The bad guys want you to think that, because when you're isolated and terrorized, you're easier to pick off and/or recruit into their cult. But you're not.

The Independent Online Artist & The Engagement

may i speak plainly for a moment? nobody owes you the Engagement, and staking all of your value and success as an artist/creator on it is a recipe for misery. eggs in baskets and all that. as a Creator myself, i hope you believe me when i say that i absolutely understand the importance of getting feedback and encouragement for your work. i know what it's like to have no audience. i know how gutting it is to feel like you're chucking paintings into a void. i know the difference a supportive community makes. obviously i cannot speak for every Creator, i can only speak for myself and my own experiences, and to be entirely fair - making art is not my main income, even if i've worked on quite a few commissions over the years. people engaging with my art has been a wonderful well of inspiration AND helpful for me getting some extra cash. we post our work online for a reason! i 100% believe in the power of letting people know you love their stuff. there's many ways to do that: you can leave comments and messages; you can reblog, retweet, and share with your friends; you can like and kudos; you can commission them; you can support them monetarily through patreon/ko-fi/bandcamp and suchlike; you can buy their merchandise; you can spread the word of their work; even create fanwork. i'm certain there are many more ways to support creators you love than just this, too! there's a whole wide world beyond just Likes and Reblogs, and different people show support in different ways. now speaking as a Creator Appreciator, i once again hope you believe me when i say this - i truly love artists and creators. when i was working, a huge chunk of my paycheck would go to commissions, indie artist merchandise, and my patreon bill. i follow a lot of artists and webcomic creators on here and on twitter, and i share their work frequently (for those who don't know, i have a reblog sideblog). i think i can safely say i'm singlehandedly responsible for getting multiple of my followers into certain webcomics by sheer power of fanart and enthusiasm. i LOVE artists. i WANT to support creators of the things i love. i LIKE sharing the small indie projects i'm into. it is something i prioritize in my life because i find fullfilment in it - it is not a moral high ground. i'm only one person, though. throwing 1 (one) dollar monthly at an artist i like through way of patreon is a very achievable course of action. the problem is:

i like a lot of artists. it's not possible for me to give the same amount of support to every single one, all the time. i just do not have the time, energy, money, or the attention for it. i don't think anyone expects me to, it would be completely unreasonable! especially because - i'm not alone. i'm not the only Creator Appreciator out here! i am not personally responsible to keep every Creator afloat with my own two hands! HOWEVER, it's not reasonable to expect everyone to do what i do, either. as i've said, it's something i prioritize and put a lot of effort into. i know a lot of people put just as much effort, or more! there's people with more time and money than me out there! but i can and want to do it, and not everyone can or wants to do All This. nor should they have to! they're not responsible for keeping creators alive, either. it's not a job. enjoying things shouldn't be a chore. a webcomic creator i used to follow had to shelve the comic they were working on because it wasn't getting enough engagement, and working on it was unsustainable. a heartbreaking decision on the creator's part, for sure, and also very understandable. making webcomics is hard work, and if you're only one person you have to cover a lot of bases and do the work of multiple people, all the while your creation is free to read and enjoy. i've seen a lot of webcomics put to rest over the years for all kinds of reasons and i understand why! the creator of this comic was fairly pragmatic about it, saying That's Just How The Numbers Are, Nothing To Do About That - and at the same time being very frustrated about it. again, very understandable! the creator has every right to be frustrated about the situation. it sucks big time. i did have to unfollow them, though. it was frustrating for me, one of their patreon supporters, to constantly read threads about how lurking kills webcomics or how everyone MUST show their support to creators. it kinda sucked to have all that ire that i know wasn't directed at me all over my feed. it kinda sucked to feel like i wasn't doing enough somehow, even though their twitter followers are statistically more likely to actually be their supporters. or maybe it was directed at me, after all, for not commenting directly on their comic? was it directed at me for not supporting a higher patreon tier? was it directed at me for not telling my friends all about this comic? was it directed at me, because while i did support this comic on patreon, there were fifteen others i didn't? i'm sure the creator was just working through the awful experience of having to make this decision. still hurt, though. not getting enough support for your work is absolutely a pain point. but people demanding my support is a pain point for me, in turn. i mean, fuck, what a mess all of this is, though! being a creator is hard, being an independent creator is even harder, social media is an fickle mistress and we need to make a living!! besides, not every online creator has the same goal, either! you've got artists encompassing the whole spectrum of "Art Is My Livelihood And I Need The Visibility" to "im drawing for Fun and Relaxation :)" on the same websites, meaning that for some people these social media sites are inextricably linked to Work, and the same social media sites are places other people go to escape work? ARE YOU UNDERSTANDING THE ISSUE HERE i think both creators and fans can be quite entitled at times. we're all mere humans swirling around in the internet soup, and we want the Contents and we want the Validation. these are fine things to want, and i do think creators should let people know what the best ways to support them are! but also - do consider how you're cultivating your audience. people are, in general, not out to hurt you or slight you personally. demanding a certain type of engagement is more likely to get you less engagement overall, because people will feel less comfortable engaging on their own terms. lurkers are gonna lurk and prodding them with a broom is more likely to make them scamper away then unlurk. only ever wanting more reblogs will just leave you starving for more reblogs. yes, you can feel hurt by the lack of attention you’re given... but i also think there’s lots of love hiding in the brush. shy love, tired love, silent love, gentle love, waiting-to-pounce-when-it’s-ready love. if you create a welcoming space for it, it may come forth. who’s to say.

What I love about lumity are their communicating skills and maturity when it comes to their relationship, compared to a certain sitcom couple whose initials are both R.G., but how are Skarlows communication skills?

First, I won’t lie... IDK what R.G. mean’s. 

However, I do like this question, and thought it over a little bit. I’ve talked about how they deal with their issues before, but I think I can sort of synthesize those ideas here.

Skara and Willow don’t start off having the best communication skills. And a lot of that falls on Skara. Her issue is that she’s a romantic who always has the best of intentions for her partner... which does not always translate into understanding what she wants. I’ve mentioned before, but Skara would shower Willow in exorbitant and clearly pricey gifts, which made Willow uncomfortable because she never had a bunch of money growing up, and it made her feel like Skara was bribing Willow into liking her. In actuality, this was just Skara trying to show her love and appreciation for her girlfriend. So when Willow finally talks to her about it, Skara feels somewhat attacked because she doesn’t understand why she wouldn’t like receiving so much cool stuff. It was the two’s first real fight, and Skara left in a huff, upset and frustrated that Willow seemed hurt because Skara cared.

It wasn’t until later that she really saw it from Willow’s perspective, how it must feel to have your partner constantly giving you things you feel are more of a burden and that can sometimes be more expensive then your parents home. She apologized to Willow, admitting she should have listened to her feelings and not just done what she wanted. Willow forgave Skara, provided she took back all the most lavish gifts and promised to never get her anything over a hundred snails again, which Skara was able to agree with. 

That doesn’t mean Willow doesn’t have her own problems. Like Luz, Willow puts a lot of responsibility on her shoulders, and doesn’t like to bother people with her issues. It took her a while to admit to Skara her feelings on the gifts, but sometimes she’ll be bothered by their past or just in need of alone time and she won’t tell Skara for fear of upsetting her. But she’s not really good at hiding when she’s upset, which leads Skara to asking, and Willow denying, and Skara trying to help more, and Willow hiding more and snapping and- Willow tries to stop herself from ending up in that cycle though, eventually swearing off ever trying to hide her true feelings from Skara if she asked. And, to her credit, she does.

Skara and Willow don’t start off with perfect communication skills. They both have issues that lead to frustration. But what they do have is a genuine desire to be happy together, to fix their shortcomings and help each other be happy. When one of them screws up, they accept it, own it, and change it. Skara and Willow have fights, but its never about the same thing twice, and they always find a way in the end for them to fix the issue so that they’re both better in the end. And over the years, their communication only grows stronger with their relationship.

31. Of the characters you write for, which is your favorite? Has that choice been swayed at all by your followers/readers’ reactions to certain ones?

Hmmmm….for Euphoria, probably Ash, and for Riverdale—the first fandom I started writing fic for (mind you, I read fic for a loooooooooooonnnng time before I ever wrote any, although I wrote original fic years before that)—I would say Cheryl Blossom. In both cases, I’d mostly for the same reason—they’re both such unhinged characters in a lot of ways that you can give them the most outrageous, funny, sarcastic lines. It helps me integrate humor into my stories in a way, that, as a smut writer, I may not always feel fits for my main characters. 🙂 As for has reader response swayed those choices, I don’t think so? I definitely appreciate it though when someone tells me a line or a scene I’ve given to them made the reader laugh or that it stuck with them though! 🤗🤗🤗

34. How much of yourself and your life experiences do you put into your writing? What do you think your readers’ image of you is?

Hahaha. I’d say I definitely put a lot of my life experiences into my stories. I’ve had a lot of really crazy, varied life experience, so there’s A LOT for me to draw on with my writing. (Which I like to believe helps my stories resonate with people???? 🥺🥺) I think the closest I’ve really come to putting myself in my writing would be in my most recent fic for the Good Girls fandom where one of the minor characters JT goes on a rant about all the stupid shit that’s gonna get one of Rio’s front operations flagged for money laundering. I didn’t have to go so hard on that, but a lottttttttt of that was definitely my personal mission to civilize. 😂😂😂 As for what do I think readers’ image of me is—I know this is gonna seem like a cop out—but honestly, I’m pretty shocked to find out people think of me *at all*. My parents divorced when I was super young (but they were good about joint custody), which meant that I often wasn’t around during weekends/school breaks/summers—not to mention, my mom shipped me overseas in the summers when I was in middle school to stay with my nana & great-aunt. So, basically, people got used to me never being around to do things, so that when I **WAS** actually around, no one actually thought to invite me. Lol. Which is all to say, I don’t really expect my readers think about me all that much. 🤷🏼‍♀️ (This is also why I get so excited when people take the time to send me asks and stuff! It’s like, “Yay!!!! A person wants to talk to me!!!!”)

35. How much has writing fic changed your life?

It’s definitely helped me find community, for sure. Plus, I’ve always been someone who’s used creative writing as an outlet when I’ve been dealing with shit, and this past year especially (with all my daughter’s health stuff), I’ve needed that outlet more than ever. Fic writing is one of the few things I do purely for myself and it’s such a source of positive reinforcement. It’s truly reinvigorating for the soul. (I cannot emphasize enough the, at times, desperately needed serotonin boost those AO3 “you have a comment” emails & the comments therein have given me this past year!!!) 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Can you tell me how you felt, what your headspace was like when writing this song?

The way I felt when writing Got Me is what I’m feeling a lot of those emotions now as I move to California. It’s been self-realization, a self-analyzation. I felt at a very transitional point in my career as an artist in my life, as a young adult, that there is a lot that we carry. You have to really remind yourself, so you don’t overwhelm yourself that you have this well thought out; you got yourself, you have faith, supportive people who are down for you believe in you. You have to get to a point of self-satisfaction to understand that you will always be enough no matter what you have to go through, no matter what you have to endure. I receive a lot of negative feedback. Sometimes you receive more negative feedback than you receive positive. You have to choose not to listen in. You have to choose to not feed into their response. I’ve even taken the advice of other artists who don’t just allow the negativity. You can’t invite it in because the main people who are judging you and have so much to say, usually don’t have anything going on themselves. So it’s easy for them to be critical and heavily judgmental when it comes to what someone who’s producing has. We’ve even seen that hand-in-hand and not to say he’s necessarily a not-shit-person or doesn’t necessarily have anything going on; but still, when you have more problems to acknowledge than solutions to provide, that is very problematic. You can’t overwhelm yourself about the opinions of others. You have to get to a point of independence where not everyone’s going to like you, not everybody’s going to for you, not everybody's going to like what you got going on, not everybody’s going to be a fan. My grandmother always reminds me that there’s always going to be a team rooting for you and a team rooting against you just like in a football or basketball game. There’s always a team rooting for the player and a team rooting against the player. So you as the player in the game have to be reminded constantly everyone has their own fan base. There will be settings and situations where you like this person over that person but don’t be phased by it. Don’t let it get to you because you’re in the game; you’re doing what you need to do, and you have to make sure you keep yourself in that security.

A lot of people have said a lot of horrible things about me, and this was way before I even started doing music, so dealing with criticism hasn’t been such an issue. I had this person who was so jealous I believe it was more so in the regard of him being just insecure about a connection that I had with someone he wanted but he attacked the music! He said, “your music sucks, it’s terrible, it’s awful, I don’t know why you do it, you should stop.” All of that stuff. I said, “well at least you’re listening to it, I’m glad that you’re listening to the music.” You know you have to get to a point where you don’t internalize things, conflicts, and issues of the heart because you’re out here doing what you’ve been appointed to do. Again, it’s that choice. Are you going to choose to fight everybody who has something ignorant to say about you? Or are you going to live in a life where you are free of other people’s invalidations, opinions, and perspectives? Everybody has an opinion, but they also have a butthole and that’s what I tell people all the time. Don’t sit there and think that just because someone has something to say that it’s about you. Everyone has an opinion just like they have an asshole. You can go ahead and decide which aspect you want to hold on to but you as a person, especially as a creator, should never put yourself subject to the mercy of other people’s criticism.

Hey! From one small ship writer to another, here’s some stuff I’ve found, see if there’s anything useful in it:

- A beta turnover time of one month is absolutely ridiculous, especially when you have a buildup stash of chapters. My own beta's turnover is a weekend. I turn in the stuff I beta the next day. Very politely and gratefully and with all due respect get rid of that beta. You’re not publishing for a book deal or for a viral audience. You don’t need a beta.

- Unless someone somewhere is doing the fic's marketing for you (tiktok, discord, whatever), there’s a always a spike in kudos at the start, and a lull after that. At this point, you’re writing for an audience of stable readers returning for every new chapter this giving you hits but no new kudos. There will be another spike when the fic is finished and the ppl who only read finished fics come in (and there are many!) All of this is normal.

- If you want new readers, you’ll have to market your fic - through other social media. I personally find it more of a hassle than it’s worth, but the truth is that a single tiktok rec or supportive discord server makes a huge difference. Find where your community hangs out and be social.

- Take a good look at your fic outline and see if you know where it’s actually going and how it’ll get there. Have an estimate of how many chapters (or at least main events) you have until then. Not knowing exactly what it is you’re writing while you think you know is one hell of a writer's stumbling block. Trim a few subplots or minor events if necessary - a streamlined, but finished fic is endlessly better than a complex, but unfinished/abandoned one.

- Ask yourself which parts of that fic are written for you and which - for an audience. Are you writing something, or in a certain manner, because you think that’s “what people will like” or “how these things are done?” Screw that. Your audience is already silent - write for yourself, in the way you like and is easiest for you. Write something outrageous. Put in bad jokes. Have someone recite a haiku. Whatever floats your boat. (And you never know, maybe that’s what will get someone to come out of the woodwork and talk to you!)

- Try to find fandom and/or writing community somewhere else. A lot of authors, like me, don’t actually need “success” and “clout” for their fics, they need someone to fanscream with about their faves. (And that’s definitely not your beta)

- For future fics, because this one’s already sailed - try to stop talking in your author’s notes as if you’re a “content creator” addressing an invisible, silent, removed “consumer audience” and justifying why you did stuff they way you did, why you didn’t do it faster/better/whatever, what expectations you think they have, and generally talking as if the faceless audience is your boss and you’re reporting to them. People pick up on this and feel free not to give anything back because you use the same language those who make money off them on other platforms do. You’re more likely to get actual fandom friends by slapping a simple “hey I’m new and I made a thing, invite me to your discord!” endnote than with an entire book report on your own perceived problems with the fic.

And last by not least, if you’re rly not feeling it anymore and it’s giving you more anxiety than joy, f it and move on. After a break, the creativity will come back, I promise. Good luck in any case! 🍀

1) I can see where you're coming from. However, as I mentioned before, it's not her fault about the huge time gap thing. She has a job in renovating homes if I remember correctly which is a lot more important than having to beta work 24/7. In all honesty, it's probably more of a "me" problem since I wait so long before I ask for a new chapter, cause I'm afraid of bugging them about it too much. And even when I get a response, I still ask constantly about it. And as much as I could ask, I'm unsure if I should, cause I really do appreciate the help she's done for me so far, and I'm unsure of how to really explain it that I might be ready to start writing without her beta work, since we both have busy lives and the wait times are so big. The reason why I have her as a beta is so that she can not only help me with the occasional grammar mistake, but sometimes advice on certain scenes or proper characterization and stuff like that, if that makes any sense.

2) I don't really have a lot of marketing, since it's obviously only a fic and it's not like I'm writing a published novel or anything major like that. And I understand that after a spike it takes a huge decrease. I just wish the ones who were reading were a little bit more vocal, is all I'm saying. Like, here's the thing; Kudos are great and all, but comments are even better, since they give you communication and it shows that they really do like the work you're putting out. Like I see works that have been posted only mere days ago and they already have hundreds of comments and bookmarks and what have you. Obviously, those are only in very rare instances, but I still see it pop up once in a while.

3) If you're talking about if I promote the fic, it's sometimes. I always post a new link whenever I post a new chapter and update the fic on my tumblr blog, and I'm also on a discord server of other shippers like me who also enjoy this kinda stuff and do the same thing on there, but even still, almost little to no vocal response. They're all more interested in role-playing and oc's and stuff like that, rather than just shipping only fictional characters, and it stings sometimes cause I don't know or understand how to communicate with others with stuff like that.

4) As for the outline, I do know the basics of what I want to do. The only problem is from getting point A to point B. As for subplots, there's really only at least three, and two of them are technically already complete, so that's not really the issue. But I do agree on you with what you said with a streamlined but finished fic being better than a complex, but unfinished one.

5) Here's the thing; Most of what I write is for me, but I try to write it for an audience as well. The problem is that this is just new territory I'm technically dealing with. And mostly what I write so far is usually "how things are done" rather than "what people would like", at least that's how I feel. But yeah, short answer is that it's definitely mostly for myself, but ever since a few people showed interested in my ideas, only for those same people to now be gone (for reasons I will not disclose), well, it kinda hurts, ngl. Cause now it feels like I'm unsure if what I'm writing is even engaging enough for others to pay attention to anymore, and I can't even get that answer thanks to whatever readers I do have being silent.

6) Trying to find another community or fandom is extremely hard, because #1, hyperfocusing is a thing. It's not like I can just give up on one thing and move on to the next so quickly. Once I'm hooked in a specific fandom, I'm usually stuck there for a while until something else peaks my interest. And #2, Success or Clout is not what I'm looking for either. What you just said hit the nail on the head; I just need someone to talk with about their faves, whether that's ships or anything else. And I'm having a really hard time trying to find that specific someone so far because everyone I know is either too busy or too old to indulge in those weird habits with. They don't have as much free time as I do. And when I do find people who are into that stuff, they only seem to gravitate to what's extremely popular (Rk-Bro or The Shield for example if you look on the world wrestling entertainment tag on Ao3) they don't really seem to interested im anything that's new or different. For example, I know a friend on Discord who writes fics for the Rk-Bro tag I just mentioned, and each and every time there are friends/other members who all comment and gush about how much they love it and how thought provoking it is, how sexy it is, etc. And they're brand new fics too! Meanwhile I'm just sitting in the corner wondering how I can be a good enough writer to get such nice feedback like that. And with such a small ship I'm trying to bring into the community, that's even more difficult to pull off! It just really crushes that self-confidence, ya know.

7) As for the "content creator" thing, that's not what I'm specifically trying to be. I'm not trying to justify every single little thing (most of the time at least), and on Ao3, thanks to the Notes section they have, it's kinda difficult to avoid using such a thing in the first place, since practically everybody on the site uses those. This goes back to what I said earlier about just wanting to talk and communicate with my readers on a social level. Just friendly conversations with others, that's all I really want, not immediate success or clout.

And finally, 8) Trying to find Wrestling Discords, especially about this kinda stuff, are way too far and between, I assure you. I'm only in two seperate discord servers, and neither of them are particularly active about the stuff I mentioned earlier. Tumblr ain't working out so great, either. It sadly ain't that easy, Anon. I sure wish it was, though. ❤

But yeah, I might end up taking a bit of a break from writing, because of the reasons I mentioned above, that and honestly, I'm not sure if this whole writing thing is all it's cracked up to be. This might go for fan-art too in the future if I'm not careful. Because honestly, what's even the point of trying to enjoy all this stuff in the first place if you can't even find anybody else who vocally likes the same weird ship stuff you do? It's just... complicated.
