hello what are your thoughts on a rayllum situation a la percy and annabeth in which either or both give up a great power/opportunity to be with each other?

while I’m not really sure we’d ever see this in canon I love the idea of it

So Rayllum has had PJO / Percabeth energy to me for a long time

And I am deeply intrigued by what lengths Rayla and Callum will be willing to go to save each other, as keeping one another safe has always been one of their biggest priorities and brought out their most batshit sides. We already know what Test of Love Rayla is going to have (leaning towards next season but could also see S6) in terms of her being willing to risk the world when Callum is possessed again ("You let him live but you killed us all / You have two choices: you all die, or just the evil wretched human dies") in favour of fighting to break him free and save him. It's already been textually confirmed, symbolically, as well that she will successfully save him.

“Wow. So they look identical, but they might kill you or they might save you,” Callum said.

“Exactly. Just like me…” Rayla smiled. (Book One novelization)

This will of course play a big hand in restoring their relationship, as well as herself, to what they/she used to be. A complete inverse of her "We can't save everyone, there's too much at stake" dismissal in 4x05 that shows how jaded her time alone had made her, traumatizing her to a point nothing else she'd ever been through (almost losing her hand, losing her family, her village, etc) had pushed her to. But of course to Callum, "Rayla is a hero" and that's what makes her who she is, and it's the positive side of her self sacrificial / selfless nature (as the self sacrifice is still alive and kicking in S4 with going after Viren, being the first to give Rex a gift, etc etc as well as the self loathing). Her saving him is the perfect "wrap it up in a bow" of setup and pay off for all of it, and her arc in general from a S1-S5 type deal.

I think there's a lot of layers to Percy's choice to give up immortality in the books (not only for Annabeth, although yes, definitely for her) but also taking into account for what he asks for in its stead: for the gods to be accountable, to pay their dues, in the ways heroes and mortals too often have instead. It shows his maturity, his series long disgust at injustice and unfairness, his beloved impertinence to say what he thinks regardless of the consequences. To honour Luke and all the other fallen demigods, but also himself.

On that level TDP doesn't have quite the same set up (although we'll see about holding humans and Xadia more accountable for the deep history / the Startouch elves as gods) but if Rayla is going to risk the world to save him, then he also has to accordingly risk the world to save her. This is particularly true as Rayla's heroic nature ad deep love for Callum is emphasized in all prior seasons, as well as the latter majorly in S4. We'll have an easy time believing she'd made that kind of decision for him. With S4, it throws a little bit of a wrench into Callum's side of things, but that's all the more reason for him to do it; to reaffirm his massive, life altering, world changing love for her (she, who desperately needs to know she is loved, too, after all this time). After all on his side of things, her absence has to affect him more than shutting down and more than just being obsessed with magic; a "I lost her once, I won't lose her again" justification if he does something batshit for her would give retroactive narrative reasoning on his end, and it'd be very earned, I think (since we see how messed up he is over her absence in 4x01, even after all that time). And again, Rayla cannot only save him - she also has to mess up, to need to be bailed out - in order for her to actually learn her lesson about self worth and sacrifice and why she needs to fucking stay or at the very least, fully accept that Callum will always be coming with her.

After all, they both need the opportunity to choose each other, to save one another, and as always, I think Callum giving up the Key of Aaravos to the villains (whether the Key is just for the prison, or Aaravos' heart, or whatever) if Rayla had gotten captured and her life was on the line makes a lot of sense. Big tag about it here, & masterposts (pre s4 and post s4). So I'd say that's my big percabeth "giving something up majorly for the one you love" schtick.

Either way I can't wait for S5 to make me cry

I’m so happy you have a fake rayla theory tag bc I have an illusion rayla theory one!!! honestly a big reason why I think she’s an illusion here is bc so much of the marketing has been about them and how the separation has really affected callum (and rayla but we’ve seen so little of her). So WHY would they spoil their reunion in the trailer??? Plus the cube has a purple glow in the reunion scene which feels sus to me

So this is from weeks ago (whoops) & apologies for answering late (more thoughts on illusion Rayla theory here) but - I do think it’s worth noting how different marketing can be from the story focus. TDP does better than most and it wouldn’t surprise me if S4 has the most intentional marketing, but upon rewatching the S2 trailer in particular, I realized how much it plays up Amaya and Janai who are 1) ultimately in that season very little and 2) whose plotline for that season is only resolved in S3. 

It also speaks to smart marketing because

1) We still have no clue about where Rayla was or what she was doing, what she could’ve found out, etc.

2) All we know is that she’s come back, but we don’t know why.

3) It hints at their reunion but gives ultimately none of the reaction from either of them away. 

4) Prior to this, we thought the reunion would likely be set much later in the season (maybe only around 4x06 or 4x07) rather than within the first three or so eps. It could still be a cliffhanger for 4x04, but that’s still within the first half of the season rather than the latter half. 

5) Which is to say the S2 trailer also showed us a glimpse of what we all thought one of the Big Rayllum moments of the season was going to be in terms of hugging it out about Harrow, and we had no idea what the season had in store. I think this hint at the reunion is similar, guiding us towards the realization that the reunion isn’t even going to be their biggest or most important moment this season, and that shit is gonna be Wild

All of which boiling down to say: now we that we know they’re going to be in the same place / in each other’s general periphery for at least half the season (since by 4x05 we’re headed into Xadia and she’s there at the Great Gates with everyone else) I’m confident we’re going to get served a feast unlike anything else we’ve previously experienced, and I’m ready

bare w me guys, idk if he’s ooc or not i’m on my period and this is my only thought:

you and logan are at home, in bed and you’re seconds away from sleep when he stiffens under you.

“you’re bleeding,” he mutters, hands moving to your waist to turn you over. “think you got your period.”

you groan, apologies ready to spew out of you when he shushes you. “none of that, i’ll smack you.”

logan gets out of the bed, going to your bathroom in search of your menstrual stuff.

“which one d’ya want, kid?” you reach in the box for a pad and sit up.

“gonna shower again,” logan wants to interrupt, but you grimace answer he frowns.

“alright princess, i’ll make you some of that tea you like.” you come out of bed and stamp a kiss to his lips.

“thanks wolf boy.”

he smacks your ass as you walk into the bathroom, chuckling when you gasp and grumble under your breath.

he looks odd holding your tea cup. it looks far too small in his massive hand, but it brings a smile to his face when he catches sight of the little painting on it.

it looks just like your cottage.

logan chucks two peppermint tea bags into the cup, hand touching the kettle to see if it’s still hot from your earlier cup of tea.

“that’ll do it,” he mutters, offhandedly remembering your comment about the water not having to be 100° for herbal teas.

he remembers to twirl the honey dipper to get the ‘right’ amount of honey.

you’re out the shower when he gets back, standing in one of his white vests and braiding back your hair.

“thought that was my thing?” he asks, nudging your hip as he hands you the mug.

“sorry,” you smile feeling the braid unravel before logan’s fingers move delicately to your hair.

“your stomach cramping?” he’s gotten a lot better at braiding, one long braid coming down to the middle of your back.

you take a sip of the tea and turn to him when you feel his tie it off. “not yet, wish you had hot hands.” you giggle when he scowls and shakes his head- clearly not pleased at your teasing.

logan tugs your waist to draw you closer to the bed, “c’mon you need to rest.” you hold the cup of tea steady as you climb into bed, flicking your wrist to shut the bedroom door.

your cramps don’t hit till well after your tea has finished and logan is diligent enough to know exactly where you’re hurting and apply a little pressure.

“should be a masseuse,” you murmur, your cramps dissipating a little as he continues.

“i figure you just want me to be a jack of all trades.” the words are spoken into your hairline, a softness to them that’s reserved for you.

“my james of all trades.” logan huffs a laugh against your temple,

“get some shut eye.”

“i love you.” your breath evens out as you wait for his answer.

“i love you too, princess.”

Halloweekend was potentially your most anticipated weekend of this year. Why, you ask? Well because you were doing matching costumes with your friend Matt. Now why was a friendly Halloween costume so important to you? Well that’s because you had a not very secret crush on that friend. You had known Matt for years now and were well acquainted with the fanbase as well. You and Matt had decided to dress from his favorite show, Gravity Falls. Since Dipper was Matt’s favorite character he was going as him and you decided to do a human version of Bill Cypher. You were sitting on Matt’s floor, all of your makeup strewn about in front of a little mirror. You had already slicked your hair back, some fly aways resting down so that your hair looked a little disheveled. You had a smokey eye with some golden shimmers on your eyelids, your lips were painted black and you had made a little brick design as contour. You were nearly ready and just waiting for Matt to finish his shower. As you hummed along to the Halloween music you put on you noticed the shower faucet sound had stopped. You turned your head to see Matt walk out in most of his costume. His white shirt hugged his torso, just barely being off of the rim of his cargo shorts. Thankfully you both lived in LA which meant that it wasn’t freezing during Halloween. “Hey.” “Hey” He smiled down at you, pushing his wet hair away from his face. “Have a good shower?” Matt nodded, moving to his bed where his blue vest sat with his little blue hat. “Your makeup looks good.” You smiled, “Thanks Matt.” “Yeah of course.” The two of you stared at each other for a minute, your eyes never leaving his. You opened your mouth to say something, to say anything, but you closed your mouth again. You didn’t know what you wanted to say, maybe you should tell him how you felt. Anytime you were with him he treated you so gently, it made your heart flutter at any word. 

Suddenly a hard knock came onto Matt’s door, Chris’s voice ringing from the other side. “Are y’all almost ready? We’re ready and people are going to start showing up soon.” You giggled at Matt, who jumped at the sudden knocking. He glared over at you before pulling the vest on himself. “Yeah yeah, we’re almost ready, just give us a minute.” You laughed again before standing up, dusting your mini skirt off before buttoning your big yellow tail coat. When you looked up you saw Matt, his hand was on the door knob but his eyes were glued to you. He blinked a few times before noticing you saw him. “Sorry uh, you just look amazing.” Your cheeks warmed and you tucked some of your gelled hair behind your ear. “Thanks Matt, you look cute.” You must have been seeing things because for a moment it looked like Matt blushed. But how could that be? He’s just your friend, nothing more. Matt was quick to open the door, his hat in his hand. He held it open for you to walk through which prompted you to jog your way to the door, smiling at Matt as you walked through the door and to where Chris stood. Chris looked you up and down before nodding. “Nice costume.” You smiled, doing a little pose. “Thanks Chris. I like your costume too.” Chris was dressed as Billy Loomis with Nick matching him as Stu. Matt soon joined the two of you in the hall, his hand grazing your lower back as he stood next to you. Your body tensed at his contact before you melted into his touch, leaning against him before remembering Chris was there. You stood up and smiled between the two, “Well I’m gonna go see everyone.” Matt nodded. “Ok, sounds good.” Chris nodded before giving Matt a look and walking away. 

When you walked into the kitchen you saw Madi sitting at the island scrolling on her phone. You moved to sit by her and smiled when she looked up. She met you with the same smile before turning off her phone. “You look cute.” You smiled and shrugged, “Thanks, you do too!” She giggled as Nick walked in. He dramatically gasped as Matt and Chris entered the room as well. He walked over to you and motioned at your outfit. “You look amazing Y/N!!” You gushed, not being able to control your smile at the boy. From the corner of your eye you saw Matt smiling at you as well. 

After some small talking between the 5 of you some of your other friends began to arrive. You dabbed up various people and began to party the way most 20 year olds would. Though you weren’t the drinking type, you’d have a few sips of something but nothing to get you hammered. As you mingled with Madi and some of y’alls friends you noticed Matt staring at you more and more. It made your heart flutter knowing that he was looking at you when other people were around. You mingled around the party earning a few confused looks at your costume and many compliments before finding Matt again. He was sitting on the couch looking around before his beautiful blue eyes fell upon you for what felt like the millionth time tonight. You smiled to yourself before walking over to him and sitting down. Without a word you curled yourself next to Matt, resting your head on his chest. You felt him tense under you before relaxing, laying his arm around your shoulder. You smiled and cuddled into your friend before looking up at him. “Enjoying the party?” You spoke to him, loud enough to be heard over the general bustle of people yet still quiet. Almost as if you two were in your own little world on that couch. Matt nodded, “Yeah, it’s better now though.” You felt your cheeks warm at that before sitting up, looking him directly in the face. “That was cheesy as fuck.” You stated, smiling at him with a teasing look in your eye. Matt laughed though it was almost as if it were a flustered laugh, causing him to look away from your face. After the two of you giggled he became oddly serious, grabbing your hand. “Can I talk to you?” He nearly whispered. “Of course, what’s wrong?” You whispered back. “Let’s go to my room..” He stood then, pulling you with him by the hand. He held your hand tight as the two of you walked past all of your friends and to the back hall where his room was. He opened the door for you and you walked in, immediately going to the mirror to make sure your costume was still in one piece. After you were certain you still looked like Bill Cypher you turned to Matt who was fidgeting nervously. You smiled sympathetically before walking over to him and grabbing his hands. “Hey look at me.” His eyes shot up, locking in with yours. “Talk to me Matt.” You whispered to him. Though it didn’t strike you as strange in the moment you were nearly an inch away from Matt’s face. It was an intense stare but the kind that felt so friendly and kind and full of love. Matt smiled for a moment before looking into your eyes, he sighed and looked back down at your hands. “Promise you won’t be mad at me.” Upon his words you furrowed your brows, now worried for what he may say. “I promise Matt, I could never be mad at you. Not really.” You moved to tilt his face up so that he was looking into your eyes once more. “Y/N I like you, like a lot.” You paused, your mind not letting you accept what he just said. “What do you mean..” Matt sighed before dropping your hands and grabbing the sides of your face. Suddenly your lips collided with something soft and warm. You blinked a few times as Matt kissed you, your heart exploding into fireworks. Quickly you began to kiss back, holding onto his hand that cupped your cheek. Your hands moved to his white undershirt, clutching it in your fists as you deepened the kiss. 

Finally pulling away you looked at Matt, a smile lingering on your lips. “I like you a lot. I wanted to do this costume with you because I like you. Like more than a friend.” He admitted, looking away a bit. You giggled, wrapping your arms around his neck as his hands snaked to your hips. You pulled him closer to you, kissing him once more. “I like you too Matthew Sturniolo.”

One of the few things Dipper is disappointed by with his first trip to Gravity Falls is that he didn't get to see a whole lot of classic cryptids. Even in the shorts, the Hide Behind lives up to it's name

When the twins come back to Gravity Falls, Waddles comes with. There is a very audible sigh from Grunkle Stan

Wendy and Dipper trade hats at the beginning and end of each summer. At first it was a sentiment gift but it's become tradition

Because Dipper wears his vest so much, he feels off without it. tldr he needs some kind of jacket at most times. it's the autism

Mabel has a mood board filled with relatively good moods that she throws one of those sticky hands at. The one that the hand lands on is the mood she decides to be that day (to the best of her ability)

Because of everything Stan's done and gone through, there's at least 10 different spots in the mystery shack where money is hidden for a just in case scenario

Ford calls advanced college textbooks 'light reading' it's a lighthearted joke but to him it really is light reading

Dipper has a spare pen in his vest at all times. Just in case

Dipper’s guide is quite popular.

With both hands, he gestures to his side where Wirt stands just so out of frame, waiting for his cue. “And we have a guest for that, actually.”

They talked about it for a while, about what Wirt would be okay with on camera, if he wanted to actually appear in the episode or if Dipper should just give his name as “the librarian told me”, his involvement in the episode, all those things. And with all of it settled, Dipper scooped out the best backdrop for his intro and settled the camera down on a few books before starting.

“A new client”, Dipper says as Wirt steps forward into frame. “The new owner of our library here has found some things.”

Wirt looks about as librarian as you can be. He’s wearing dark jeans, cuffed. A white button up, with a brown argyle v-neck sweater vest pulled over it. On top of that is a tweed blazer. And to complete his little ensemble is a black bow tie around his neck. The only thing that could make him more librarian would be a pair of thick rimmed glasses, but Wirt would feel silly wearing glasses with no prescription lenses.
