[ digiweek day 7: graduation/free day/odaiba day ]
The song used for this gifset is "Rather Be" by Clean Bandit feat. Jess Glynne. It's one of my go-to Chosen & partner songs. Someday I might make an AMV using this song. I'm SO SORRY if these gifs take a while to load. Please be patient with them, they were a beast to make lol.
In any case, HAPPY ODAIBA DAY 2022! The Digimon fandom means more to me than any other fandom. I hope we can all continue to love and support each other for years to come.

@digiweek 2022 - Day 3: Humour
I will probably never grow tired of promoting the Digimon Adventure Tri Stageplay here while simultaneously trying not to spoil too much, but I will say once again: If you love Jyou Kidou, the way he himself is trying to make the (humourous) best out of suffering through his own personal study hell (and meta’ish fourth wall breaking), you will adore this one to bits. He’s the absolute MVP and Koushirou is too oblivious to realize that he’s making it worse.

DigiWeek 2022, Day 5 (Crossover)
I think one of @digiweek's examples from last year suggested a crossover of Kouichi (who, as we find out in the Frontier audio dramas, wants to go into medicine) interning under one Jyou Kido, M.D. This idea lodged itself in my brain for 365+ days and wouldn't leave, so here it is! It's Kouichi's first day and Jyou is showing him the ropes, and even though it's going to be hard work and long hours, Kouichi can't help but be excited he's made it this far, and marvel at how smart and cool his new senpai is :)
This isn't the first Adventure-Frontier crossover I've done, by the way. Maybe someday I'll make it through the whole cast!

Digiweek 2022 Day 1 - First Day (Beginning)
Since school’s starting again, I decided to draw Ami and Takumi in their school uniforms!

for @digiweek 22, day four (drama)!
my topic of today is not, in fact, decode, but rather tamers. specifically: ryou and cyberdramon. ( @digi-noir, you’ll like this post)
now, you may be asking, “simon, how is that sad?” well, since i am the chief of Thinking About Ryou And Cyberdramon And Being Sad, let me explain to you.
Fact: at the end of the Brave Tamer game, after defeating Milleniummon, Ryou gets thrown to another world. It’s confirmed within Tamers anime that Ryou is amnesiac, and likely does not remember anything from the events of before his entering the Tamers universe. Therefore, we can extrapolate that Ryou, an amnesiac, likely had struggles trying to integrate into this world he does not remember, with parents, friends, and an entire life he likely does not remember.
Fact: Cyberdramon is the result of a jogress between Milleniummon and Monodramon; said jogress turns into an egg, out of which hatches a Ketomon that becomes the Cyberdramon we know and love today. Cyberdramon canonically does not have Milleniummon or Monodramon’s memories; he is his own person. However, it can be assumed that, due to being made of Milleniummon’s data (as well as Monodramon’s), Cyberdramon likely has a similar connection with Ryou that exists between, say, Taichi and Agumon -- that is, the connection of a Chosen Child and their fated Digimon partner.
Fact: in one of the Tamers audio dramas, it’s revealed that Ryou entered the Digital World when a digital field opens up, and Cyberdramon cannot cross into the human world. It’s also implied that Ryou spent at least 8 months in the digital world with Cyberdramon, since when told the date by Ruki, Hirokazu, and Kenta, he remarks that it’d been “almost a year” since he entered the Digital World (though my memory may be off slightly). It’s also canon that Ryou and Cyberdramon have been constantly moving, as Cyberdramon feels compelled to fight other digimon. The above-mentioned audio drama confirms that Cyberdramon feels compelled to do this due to a desire to protect Ryou, which manifests as attempting to remove any threats.
Therefore, with this information in mind: we can assume that Ryou awoke in the world, amnesiac with no knowledge or familiarity with much, if anything at all. We can also assume that Cyberdramon, born in the digital world, felt a need to search for Ryou without knowing why or who he was actually searching for (as implied of what happens when a digimon does not meet their Chosen Child, by Tailmon’s account in the Odaiba Arc of Adventure). We can assume that Ryou also went to the digital world because of this connection (left over from Milleniummon and Ryou’s original home dimension). We can assume that Ryou and Cyberdramon were each other’s only consistent company for about eight months, and we know canonically that Cyberdramon was incredibly protective of Ryou, and that Ryou eventually saw things such as a possible death as no big deal (evidenced by his lack of worry regarding Knightmon possibly beheading him, within the Tamers anime). We also know that Ryou’s first introduction back to the human world was when he had to fight for his life and the lives of others due to the D-Reaper’s presence.
To summarize: Ryou gets amnesia, he and his soul-bonded dragon Cyberdramon end up meeting, Ryou goes to Digital World, full of monsters, and ends up finding home there with said dragon. Cyberdramon fights frequently because he wants to keep Ryou alive, while Ryou eventually finds nothing upsetting about the threat of death. Ryou’s first time in the human world in months is one where he has to fight for his life. When the evil is defeated, Ryou is forcibly separated from Cyberdramon, his partner by soul and also by choice at this point. In a short time, Ryou is ripped away from the one person he’s closest two, the home he’s lived in for the past months, and is expected to slot right into human society perfectly.
And that’s not even mentioning the whole deal that happens to Ryou beforehand in the games, when he’s still Adventureverse Ryou rather than Tamers Ryou (very important distinctions, I assure you). Is that not tragic?

Digiweek 2022, Day 1
(I apologize for the low quality)
These sketches are based on an AU I've been working on where the 02 kids meet their partners sometime before the series.
I'm not really proud of this one. It's been a while since I've used colored pencils. They all look way too messy (especially Miyako smh), but I wanted to do something for digiweek.

Hello, @digiweek is here again and I most definitely have ideas; ayup.  About school, and Chosen, and Tamers, and other Chosen, and Generals, and Applidrivers, and whatever the other’s call themselves.  At school, together.  High school AU. Are you ready?  No, I’m not stalling.
Day One: Prompt - Beginning.  Because sometimes we all need to learn how to start again.  Especially Haru.
“Oi, Ken.  The Computer Club kid is here again.” Takuya yellowed out unceremoniously across the football pitch.
“Kanabara, he has a name.” Ms. Fujieda shot.
“Well, what is it?” Takuya asked back, ignoring the fact the person in question was standing not five feet behind him, one hand doing a poor job of hiding the green-haired kid’s face.
“It’s, it’s” Ms. Fujidea stumbled, “it’s a very important thing for you to remember, and I’m not going to bail you out.  And to help etch this lesson into that developing brain of yours you’re going to do 10 laps right now.”
“Seriously?” Daisuke said from behind her “You’re punishing him because you forgot?”
“If you’ve got the energy to mouth off, you’ve got the energy to run; sounds like you wanna join him.” Ms, Fujieda yelled.
Taichi slunk away, doing his best to distance himself from his junior.  Yoshino Fujieda was only a few years out of high school herself, a student teacher who ended up in charge of the famously unruly football club because everyone with even an ounce of seniority refused to put up with them.
And she just happened to have a famously short fuse.  Snapping over even minor inconveniences or humiliations.  Which were extremely common given how childish the football club could be.  At first, it looked like a terrible mismatch, but they all listened to her in the end.  Mostly because she was capable of taking any one of them in a fight.
In her first week as a student teacher, she had somehow stumbled into a fight between two delinquents, who didn’t recognize her as being different from any other students.  When the blows were redirected at her, she managed to pin both of the delinquents to the ground within seconds.  A feat that was quickly tested by many students with more pride than common sense only to find themselves repeating the result.
Completely asinine in Taichi’s opinion, considering the reward for successfully assaulting a teacher would be expulsion at best.
No one knew why Yoshino was so good at hand-to-hand combat, she never said, but it had earned her the respect and fear of nearly every student.  And while she knew almost nothing about football, all of her punishments involved physical training of some sort, so in her own unique way, she was helping the club.
“Give me ten,” Ken said, jogging past the green-haired computer club member.  “I need a shower and a change of clothes.”
“Right.” The boy nodded slightly as ken ran by, his eyes searching the football pitch.
It didn’t surprise Taichi that someone had come to get Ken.  Ken was good at anything he tried, not quite like Taiki, he needed more training, but often saw better results.  The football club had a shot at regionals at best and would get slaughtered at nationals, no matter how good Ken was.  But the computer club had some unreal geniuses in it, that were apparently on the verge of some major AI stuff.
Honestly, the more Taichi heard about it all, the less he understood.  Not that he would ever stop Koushiro from speaking whenever he went on an explanation streak, it just flew over his head.
But that didn’t explain why he was here.
Taichi found himself straying towards the intruder, whose eyes were still fixed on the field.
“Haru right?” Taichi asked as he got closer. “What are you doing here?”
Haru took a step back, sizing Taichi up and down. “I, uhh, Koushiro was thinking of trying something quantum for our project, but no one can run code on a quantum computer that executes fast enough for what we want to do, so we need Ken to look it over, because -”
“He’s the only one who can read the code and know how it will execute.” Taichi finished, much to Haru’s evident shock. “I know, but why are you here?  Miyako’s know ken since middle school, Koushiro and I have been friends for even longer, and he used to be in football club before any schools even offered a computer club.”
Taichi did his best to stare Haru in the eye. “Why are you here?  Why are you always the one who comes.”
“I had a friend, who used to play football.  Watching others play reminds me of him.”
“Had? Where is he now.”
Haru’s eyes darkened. “Gone.”
Taichi nodded, he may be obtuse, but he wasn’t that obtuse.  “I see, did you and him ever play together?”
“Wha, well of course we did.”
In one smooth motion, Taichi’s right foot dragged a ball from beside him, flicking it up towards Haru, who instinctively caught the ball with his chest, allowing it to fall to his feet.
“Pretty good,” Taichi said. “You should play with us sometime.  It’s no good to be trapped inside all day working on those gizmos.”
“I couldn’t,” Haru said, “I’m not very good.”
“Neither is Takuya.”
“Say that to my face Yagami!” Takuya yelled kicking a ball at the gogglehead while running by. Taichi just laughed, sidestepping the ball with ease.
“So?” he asked, his focus never once leaving the green-haired boy in front of him.
“ahh, no it’s not my thing.” Haru demurred once again.
“But it used to be your thing, right? With your friend.  Do you really think he’d want you to stop?”
“Well, I…”
“Tell you what.  I know there’s no computer club on Thursday, and honestly, I won’t be missed here for one day.  Meet me after classes, just you and me, and I’ll give you a refresher.”  That way Haru didn’t have to feel embarrassed if he was still rusty. “and afterward I’ll take you out for ice cream.  I know the best place.  Well, my sister does, I haven’t tried enough places to know it’s the best.  It does have a nice view of the beach.”
Haru’s face turned red, and he struggled to meet Taichi’s eyes “Just the two of us?”
‘Man, he must really be worried about his skills if he’s this embarrassed with just me.’ Taichi thought.  His mouth was more sensitive. “Hey, don’t sweat it, I’ll be gentle.  Just ask Koushiro, or Ken, or Miyako.  On second thought, don’t ask Miyako, she likes to spread rumors for fun.  Just ask Kou, ok?”
“Kou?” Haru repeated.
At that moment Ken emerged from the changing room, clean and ready for hours of nerdtime, as Daisuke not so affectionately called it.
Taichi reached out, patting Haru on the shoulder. “Just think about it, you don’t need to force yourself, I just want you to have fun.  Your friend would have wanted you to be happy.”
“I, uh, yes,”
“Yes?”
“Yes!” Haru screamed darting off towards the school doors.
“Okay then,” Taichi said. He wasn’t sure if that was a ‘yes I’ll think about it’ or a ‘yes I’ll do it’, but he supposed for now yes would suffice.
Haru clearly needed someone who could force him out of his shell, and while things had clearly ended painfully in the past, there was always time for a new beginning.

If anyone is wondering, I am actually planning on finishing my Digiweek series. I became too attached to all of the ideas I had planned (characters who are underrepresented in fanart galore!), and I might tweak my Menoa/Morphomon drawing slightly to match the others stylistically.
So, we’re at 3/7 done, really. Look forward to the whole set!

DigiWeek 2022 - Day 4: School's Play/Drama
Days: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] Title: The School Play Characters: Sora Takenouchi, Yamato Ishida, Aiko (OC), Kouji (OC), Takeru Takaishi, Kimi Takaishi (OC), Kenichi Takaishi (OC), Natsuko Takaishi, Toshiko Takenouchi, Hiroaki Ishida, Haruhiko Takenouchi (both mentioned). Summary: Aiko is going to perform on a play for the first time.  Sora held the fancy burgundy dress in front of her as soon as she finished sewing it, with a large smile on her face. Though she specialized in kimonos, she just couldn't say no to the opportunity to make the outfits for Odaiba's Elementary School play, especially when Aiko was in the cast and relentlessly begged her mother to accept it. The hardest thing was keeping it a secret, as Sora wanted to show it to her daughter so bad. She neatly folded the dress and put it on the top of the high pile of outfits, feeling extremely grateful and proud of everyone's effort into making it work. All that was left to do was take the request to school and wait for the day of the play.
****
Kouji was already waiting by the door when she opened it. She immediately bent down and picked him up, not surprised at all that he was standing there. He's always had a sixth sense when it came to her, maybe because he was more attached to her than Aiko was. "Mommy." He hugged her tight. "Hey, sweetheart." Sora dropped her keys over the counter and walked into the living room. From the kitchen, she could hear Aiko speaking loudly and found out she was actually rehearsing for her play. "Did the kids give you too much trouble?" "Not really." Yamato looked at her from his seat on the couch. "Kouji was watching TV pretty much the whole time and Aiko has been reciting her lines from the play who knows for how long. At this point I could easily replace her." "She's just that excited for it." Sora stated with a light smile. "She reminds me of you whenever you had a concert. I swear I could hear you playing from my apartment and I lived on the opposite building." "Oh come on. I didn't play that loud." He protested jokingly. "Sure you didn't. It's a good thing your father only arrived late at night. He'd have gone crazy if he didn't." "Are you insinuating I was a bad player?" He stood up and walked to her. "Who? Me?" Sora laughed and put Kouji back down. "No, I actually think you were an amazing player and singer too." "I can be amazing in many other things, you know?" He wrapped an arm around her and pulled her towards him. "Don't I know it?" She whispered staring intensely into his blue eyes and kissed him briefly. "I'm so happy you're staying longer with us this time." "Me too. I always feel like I'm missing out too much when I'm away." Yamato looked at their children. "They weren't this big when I left a year and half ago." "Well, eighteen months had gone by since then. They grow up incredibly fast at this age." "Tell me about it." "Mommy, did you finish my dress?" Aiko stood beside them and looked at Sora with apprehension and hope. "Yes, I did. I finished it today." "Is it beautiful?" "It is. It's the prettiest dress I've ever made. You're gonna love it." "Can I see it?" "Sorry, sunshine. It's a surprise. But you'll find out a little before the day you're going to perform. It's not much long now. Just be a little more patient." "You're telling her to be patient?" "Yeah, well…" Sora smiled. "She will have to be." "Judging from the way she's looking forward to this play, I'd say it's highly unlikely." "Probably." Keep reading it on FF.net or AO3

[ digiweek 2022 day 2: sports day/relationship “Tell us a relationship in Digimon” ]
Well now I’ve got six.
Friendship: Taichi and Koushiro. Probably my favorite Taichi relationship AND my favorite Koushiro relationship. There’s nothing more iconic than these two in that film, but honestly the way Taichi values Koushiro’s opinion and Koushiro values Taichi’s leadership throughout Adventure us just... *chef’s kiss* beautiful.
Family: More Koushiro. I always found the story of Koushiro learning about his birth parents to be extremely meaningful-- I think we all feel that way. But the relationship he has with his adoptive parents is just so heartfelt and important to his development as a character.
Romance: Daiken my #1 Digimon OTP. Daisuke never gave up on Ken and Ken let Daisuke into his heart 💖 And of course they can hear each other’s hearts. Falling in love with the first person who meant something to you as a kid....oh gosh. I’ll be a fan of this ship forever. Catch me adding them to every Digimon fic I write.
Romance: Jyoumi is an extremely close second. I adore both of them tremendously and honestly how can you ignore the cute and often hilarious chemistry between them? They compliment each other so well and their moments together in both Adventure and tri. always make me cry.
Rivalry: What’s better than a regular rivalry? A rivalry where one of them takes it seriously and the other thinks the mere concept of their rivalry is hilarious. Giving Takeru a “rival” in the first place is so funny because he really just could not give a damn. He loves messing with Daisuke though, just to keep up appearances.
Partners: What always struck me as powerful is how different Jou and Gomamon are. Their conversation in the finale of Adventure is my absolute favorite thing: “You and I might not have been a good team, Gomamon... but I had a lot of fun being with you.” “So did I.” These two had to work hard at their partnership and it always paid off in the end.

Digiweek 2022 - Day 2: Relationship
There are tons of platonic relationships in Digimon I thoroughly enjoy - but shedding some light on my favourite romantic relationships is always a lot of fun as well!

DigiWeek 2022, Day 4 (Drama)
In honor of Appmon Episode 42, which is brilliant and amazing and will make you laugh and cry at the same time. I love this poor awkward edgelord, and what this episode means for his character arc (hint: it means A LOT) <3
"But Citrus," I hear you say. "Rei is one of the main characters in Appmon, he's not underappreciated!" And while that is true, I must counter by saying a) Appmon itself can always use more love, b) I still don't draw Rei enough, and c) there is not nearly enough Rei-as-Jumping Happy Mouse fanart, so there :)

DIGIWEEK 2022 DAY 5 - Festival (Crossover)
Happy Odiaba day! I finished this drawing a day late, so I decided to wait and post it on August 1st! I'm so happy digiweek helped motivate me to make content for this au again! There's a lot of story elements and lore I've created to give this story more depth, but I'll save that for a future post. Thank you, and happy digi day!

Currently working on commissions, so I don’t have a lot of time to devote, but I made this quick little scribble for day one of @digiweek ! today’s prompt was “first day (beginnings)”, with a sub-prompt of telling about a character you like and such.
and, well. if you know me from when i made digimon content much more frequently, you’re well aware by now of the fact that rina is my favorite
