Rajasthani Kitchen! Do you like Rotis and stuffed parathas? I like it a lot! We took a diversion into a rural village in Rajasthan on our way to Ajmer and spent almost three hours shooting various activities of the people. I got this shot of a young girl preparing Rotis in a traditional way. The simple, small, open kitchen in front of the house was very impressive. Though the girl ( present generation ) at home was not wearing the traditional native Rajasthani dress, her actions and expressions are quite natural and candid. I captured the roti in the mid air when she tossed it on the tawa. I like the shot for the overall feel of colour and lighting. The smoke from the fire wood adds to the mood and environment (scroll the next images). The overall mid grey in the scene made my exposure easy. Bottom line: Simple subjects always make our photos beautiful. Look for the feel, emotions and shoot directly to the point for better storytelling.
