this is random but like. i dream to keep at LEAST one thing w/ lots of sentimental value in it and in idk 5-ish years??? Look back on it n think. Huh. Yeah, that was nice. Nostalgia and remembering memories ur fond of is just the fuckin best yknow????

YEAH!!! I GET U!!! for somebody as detached as i am im surprised to see im very attached to Objects and the memories that come with those objects. i have kept so many useless fucking things out of sentimentality. i have a sticks, a pinecone, certain marbles, old passed notes, and more garbage. i have a certain cardboard box from 2009 which ive kept cuz it was a box i got back when everything sucked during ondoy and i had nothing to do but doodle on it. i have kept an old musty box that cant even hold things. i would probably genuinely cry if i ever lost it.

Is it, uh, bad that i think he KIIINDA deserved that? I mean, I seriously doubt Endeavour actually DIED but like, he was kind of a horrible person, and I still have no idea what to feel about his redemption arc other than the fact that I just want Todoroki to get better w/ or w/o his father's influence.

Nah mate, you are absolutely free to feel whatever. And a lot of people are pretty like “hell yeah, payoff time” towards what happened to Endeavour, which I think it’s brilliant. It makes us see how much of a reaction that character can bring. So interesting! He was indeed horrible in so many ways. It’s such a grey and complicated character. A good example of a “villain” within the heroes, just like stain was something like a “hero” between the villains.

Oh man, yes, thanks for bringing up Todoroki! We’ve got a whole intense panel of his reaction. His shock, his hurt. I think, despite all his mixed feelings, hurt and hatred, that he has towards his father... Todoroki still admired him and respected him as a hero. I have said this before, when we saw their interaction during the Remedial Course arc (here and here), that Todroki understands his father very well, and he recognizes his wrong doings for what they are (he has no illusions regarding what Endeavour did). And yet Todoroki chose to do his internship/placement with Endeavour’s agency, to learn how his father work. Because he might not like Endeavour as father, as a person, but he recognizes that there’s professional merit in Endeavour holding the 2nd place position. Just like the rest of society, I think Endeavour being so powerful also gave Shouto a sense of security, even if he didn’t necessarily admit it. In that sense, seeing Endeavour be defeated like that.... is like his whole world is crumbling down. This is such an important thing for Shouto’s plot/storyline, make no mistake.

Without Endeavour, I think Todoroki will be forced to grow up very fast, even more than what he already did (and he is, indeed, very mature for his age). He will get better, and he has been freeing himself from the psychological shackles Endeavour put him under during his childhood since the sports festival, mind. I expect Todoroki to keep following that trend. So your concerns should be less hevy in that regard, Todoroki is somewhat free from Endeavour no mater if his father is dead or alive. But... his deal with Endeavour is not finished, so it’s important that Endeavour doesn’t die yet. Todoroki needs him alive still, I think.

MORE HAWKS! YES!! Alright, I have a feeling this'll be long, because WOW. So, I remember seeing apost about Hawks being an Icarus parallel. Which,yeah, I totally see. But here, his dream, intentions, and more of his personality are revealed! He wants heroes to have more free time than they know what to do with, which in turn means there's hardly any danger for heroes to worry about. Maybe he just likes taking it easy, like he says. Since he DOES seem laid back and chill even when fighting (1/?)

–that villain from earlier, and his slightly joking (at least, in MY head it’s joking) “Roger that!” to Endeavor. I know he still does care about the safety of the nations, since he secretly launched an investigation when he first heard the rumors and even did his own investigating around the nation. (He says he flew, and I honestly can’t tell if he flew w/ his wings or by plane. Probably by plane, but it’s an interesting thought) This is also proven by his attentiveness and how much he (2/?)

appreciates his fans (THAT WHOLE THING WAS GREAT). Whatever the reason, I don’t think he’s an Icarus parallel (It’s less that and more that I dON’T WANT HIM TO DIE) because of him saying that he won’t do much. He’s letting Endeavor rise to the top and I don’t think that parallel’s Icarus at all. THAT or maybe it does and I’ll cry myself to sleep because Hawks gets a little TOO into his plan to be the leader and die/lose his quirk. Seriously, I’m way too attached to this man. But on a (3/?)

lighter note, TOKOYAMI INTERNED W/ HAWKS. IT’S CANON AND I LOVE IT. I also love how he joked about being a bird himself!! (I don’t remember if it’s been confirmed canon before this chapter, so sorry if I just forgot) and woah!! It’s Endeavour’s first fight as no.1 (which I’m not too happy about, since. Yeah.)!! And him interacting w/ that kid was kinda hilarious, to be honest. I think he’s trying to copy All Might. This became a really long Hawks analysis, whoops. He’s just so interesting! (4/4)

IT’S TIME FOR HAWKS WANK-- wait that didn’t sound quite right. Oh, you get it.

Aye, I can see the Icarus metaphor working here. I reckon some people have been tracing a parallel between the tale in a way that predicts that Hawks will fall because he rose too fast. So while I found the metaphor interesting, I didn’t quite buy into it. Would feel very off if Horikoshi simply offed the 2nd ranked hero he just introduced of which he kept the identity a secret for such a long time in the manga. This tells me he has at least a good plot panned involving Hawks. Besides, he just killed a pro-hero. If anything, it seems that this arc is about advancing some worldbuilding, some plot points, and to generate character development for Endeavour.

I agree with you 100% that the metaphor worked better when we knew less about Hawks personality and thoughts! With this latest chapter we know that Hawks desire peace, so he and other heroes can have an easy going life. He wants everything to be alright, and he doesn’t necesarily want to be the representative of that (he would rather be just another hero in the ranks, probably because they he can take it easy without worrying about public opinion), while at the same time being involved into bringing about that change. You know who he reminds me of? Asakura Yoh, from Shaman King (one of my favourite animes of all times, up there together with Full Metal Alchemist).

Now, while i don’t particularly mind if Hawks dies, I don’t think he is going to die anytime soon (definitely not in this arc), which doesn’t mean that he isn’t going to die by the end of the series, of course. Like I said, it would seem repetitive and a waste of character, and a waste of the whole mystery buildup. As I see it, I think this is using Hawks in part to create a foil for Endeavour. We had that wee chat between Endeavour and All Might on the Remedial Course arc before, in whic Toshi told Endeavour that he didn’t need to be the symbol of peace, and instead should be his own version of the number one, that Endeavour should be himself. There’s wisdom in being who you are, and it’s immaturity to try and become another (thus we have the classical Buddhist saying perfectly represented. Be; don’t become). Endeavour however has strove his whole life to achieve number one and overcome All Might, in the process he was trying to become All Might. He is now starting to realize that this was foolish. He cannot be All Might. But if he can’t, than what he is? And who is he?

Then we have Hawks, a young successful hero, very different from both Endeavour and All Might. A young hero that did not want to be like All Might, but respected him. Hawks is telling Endeavour he can see how he can be the number one hero, that the hero society needs a new direction. A direction All Might wouldn’t be able to offer. In a way, Hawks is saying to Endeavour the same thing as All Might did. However, as Endeavour is going around with Hawks and observing him, he’s noticing a different way to be a hero and he shows how lost he is, since he tried to copy Hawks and give a fan an autograph. Hawks is a very different foil to Endeavour than All Might was, and in a way, he’s probably what Endeavour needs to figure himself out. Or so this plot is promising, at the very least.

The real question is. WILL WE GET A DABI IS A TODOROKI REVEAL OR WHAT.

Also it was confirmed some chapters back that Toko was interning with Hawks. Uraraka commented it on chapter 184. There was some clues dropped during the internship arc that Tokoyami was interning with someone, and we didn’t know who (as well as no confirmation that he was actually interning at all). And then Uraraka dropped the bomb oh-so-casually lols

But honestly I’m really enjoying this arc and I really like Hawks

Also I think he flew there with his wings, not by plane. LET ME HAVE THIS.

Geez, this new chaoter was a LOT. I was so hyped up when the Noumu was heading towards the evacuation area, i couldn't process what i was reading!! Kcndhdbd and wow, I KNEW Endeavor wasn't dead, but i didn't expect him to keep pushing so much?? It was also amazing to see natsu and fuyumi talk about endeavor, especially the whole thing about them KNOWING he was stubborn and wouldn't give up but refuse to really accept it. (1/2)

On a lighter note, OH MY G O D HAWKS LOOKS UP TO ENDEAVOR. Maybe not in the same way deku looks up to all might, but you can tell he admires him to some degree. (Honestly, spicy wings is literally the wierdest crack ship ive ever come across. I hate that i understand why it’d be a ship tho fhfghdg) Though is it wrong of me to feel slightly… I don’t know, disappointed? That’s not rlly the word, but I keep thinking ‘If Hawks knew how Endeavor treated his family, would he still admire him’? (2/2)

THIS CHAPTER WAS SO GOOD ACTUALLY. I really enjoyed it!

Yes man, it was such a tense moment with the Noumu. I honest to god was expecting Endeavour to stay down and that other heroes were going to have to back up and it would be an absolute disaster of monstrous repercussions, what with All Might not being around anymore. So Endeavour getting up again was the best possible outcome, which i’m glad about. But listen, even if he defeat that Noumu… where did it come from and are there more of it? Like bloody hell.

I mean, I know we were all surprised that Endeavour kept pushing, but in a way that is pretty much one of the core components of his character right? lols Plus Ultra aside, he did pursue All Might stubbornly, even as everyone else thought it was silly and useless (even Hawks thought that as a child).

Hmmm aye, maybe Hawks is intrigued/inspired by Endeavours persistence? Hawk’s personality seems to be quite laid-back and he even outright said that he’s useless in a power battle, which might mean he wouldn’t keep pushing and trying if he knew it was a power battle. But maybe, because Endeavour kept striving to surpass All Might, despite their obvious gap, made Hawks think over his own natural limitations and choose to push himself harder instead of giving up, even if it goes against logic? Not saying that’s what happened, but I can see the possibility.

OMG PLS LET’S MAKE SPICY WINGS THE SHIP NAME. I LOVE THIS. I don’t particularly ship them tbh haha but it could have some interesting dynamics. Ngl, I was reading some fics for them the other day, there’s some good stuff around already. Have you seen some people shipping Hawks and Fuyumi, tho? I reckon @blamedorange has been doing some nice drawings for it (and as far as I’m concerned, single-handedly created the ship and made the some of the fandom start adopting it, you can’t convince me otherwise -q).

It’shard to say how Hawks would feel, tbf. We know very little about his character at the moment. I am inclined to think that he would still admire the Endeavour’s traits that he consider positives, while also not approving and being unhappy about the negative traits. I reckon Hawks would be very discreet about this information if he ever found out. He seems loud and happy-go-lucky, but he strikes me as a very respectful and good sort when it comes down to the really important stuff.
