“Sweet Embrace” ———————————— This is one of my recent favorites that I’ve been working on. I really like the interplay of shapes and color here. As he folds and sets aside her gown, he takes his time now in working her up to the point of frustration, planting soft, sweet kisses starting at her face and lips before letting his mouth slowly wander all the way down her body. She’s begging him to go faster with her tender little needy noises, unconsciously spreading her thighs as he makes his way closer to the core of her with each kiss trailing down from her neck to her navel, but he’s positively determined to get her into the perfect state of mind before making his inquiry, so he simply pulls away right as he reaches the part of her she so desperately wanted him to pay attention to.

DEATH AND THE MAIDEN is Schubert's 14th string quartet. For the next 14 days each day we'll publish a tidbit about this work. Here we go with tidbit #1 ❤ Schubert composed his masterpiece 'Death and The Maiden' in 1824. This image shows his manuscript for the 2nd movement of the work. The Andante con moto is a set of variations in G minor, based on the piano introduction to the famous song Der Tod und das Mädchen, “Death and the Maiden”. The song was set to a poem by Matthias Claudius, an 18th-Century clergyman fascinated by the Totentanz, the “dance of death,” a late-Medieval theatrical form that showed Death dancing and talking with the townsfolk - king, beggar, youth, knight, and maiden - before taking them away with him. So soft and gentle she was, the perfect little complement to him, something so great and hulking and ultimately destructive, but around her, around the peace she brought, it was like he could suddenly make flowers bloom with his touch. When he touched her and pulled her close to him, when she giggled and leaned into him and communicated her mutual want for him with nothing more than a nod and a shared look of consent, he could give life to orchards of fruit that would keep them fed in perpetuity.
