For A Dear Friend’s 70th Birthday

The kind of friendship one has, is one of the most valuable relationships to treasure. My customer came to me, with a grand idea of making a book for her friend on her 70th birthday. It was to be filled with dedications from people who were touched by her friend. The tricky bit was that, all these dedications were sent from all over the world.

The book starts off with a poem, beautifully handwritten by Clarence, a calligrapher from Craft Varies. It was quite a feat designing the layout of the dedications as they came in all sizes, but it all turned out very beautiful. It then ends with a hand drawn/written heart, also by Craft Varies.

For the cover, I printed on canvas, of a piece of artwork provided by my customer of photographs of people who were touched by her friend. The endpapers was made up of a scan of her friend’s grandmother’s dairy farm name card from the 70s.

Presents like these, let us know, how as humans, our gift from our hearts can show a person how much they mean to us. Books are worth investing in, as they carry not just words, but the immense love that is laid out of paper, for all to see, remember and treasure.

31 Days of Dead 2020 | Project Wrap-Up & Links

I want to take the opportunity to express my thanks to all of you for following this year’s edition of the Unofficial 31 Days of Dead and for all of the messages and kind words that you have sent me. It was a fun ride and we covered a lot of ground. Here are some quick stats:

As in past years, I have provided a full track listing and zipped and uploaded all of the mp3 files so that you can download for your future listening pleasure.

WHAT WERE YOUR FAVORITE TRACKS???? I would love to hear what your favorites were this year. Some of you have reached out already and I truly appreciate it. I’m always curious what you liked and what you didn’t like so that I can make improvements in the future.

THANK YOU!! These projects are a big undertaking and there is no way I could do it all on my own. I want to take this opportunity to recognize two key people who helped out. First, a big thank you to Brian Levine who has been providing the artwork since I started doing these projects in 2010. Each year his artwork gets better. He obviously takes our tagline very seriously – “When they go high, we go higher.”

I also owe a huge debt of gratitude to my long-time friend, Jason Freitag, who hosts these projects on his blog, Liner Notes Music Blog. The blog provides an online home where you can reference these projects anytime you want.
