Congratulations, you've survived The Horrors!
Thank you so much to everyone who participated in our very first Hermit Horror Week. We hope you had as much fun as we did creating and consuming all the fantastic writing and art made for this event!
If you want to see what was created... Here's the tumblr tag, and here's the tag on our blog. You can also see each day's set of posts by clicking on that day's specific tag at the bottom of this post.
If you still want to create for the event... Feel free! Reblogs will be a little slower from here out, but we'll get to everything you post eventually!
If you made something, and we didn't reblog it... Please please please reach out! We promise we didn't slight you on purpose: Tumblr is just a very functional website that does not show posts in the tag sometimes, and we are just some guys. I caught at least one post this happened to already and we would really love to make sure everything gets reblogged and archived.
And on that note, please add your fic to the AO3 collection! We've tried to catch everything that didn't get added and bookmark it to the collection, but things fall through the cracks and it's much better if you actually add it yourself. So if you haven't, please do and encourage others to do so as well!
Thank you all for playing, and Happy Halloween!

newton's apple
Up. Down. The apple is bright red against the pitch-black star-speckled blanket of space beyond the reinforced glass, and Ren follows it with his eyes as it floats gently up, hits its zenith, falls back down to his hand just slightly slower than it should.

More old art of F.A.N.G mains from 2022 to 2023. A continuation from a previous post:
Capcom Cup IX…my goodness, I remember it was absolutely glorious. And can you believe there were 3 F.A.N.G mains that qualified on that year?! First it was Mono of Puerto Rico 🇵🇷, Vegapatch of Spain 🇪🇸 , and Mortsy of Canada 🇨🇦 . At first I thought I’d celebrate F.A.N.G’s last hurrah at EVO 2022, but Capcom Cup IX was even more hype. I was rooting for all three of them.
Tumblr media
Though sadly Mono and Mortsy had to face each other since they were in the same pool, but their mirror match was spectacular.
Tumblr media
A fun bit from that same pool was that Mono helped Momochi (Cody) get into Top 16 by winning against Big Bird’s Ken. From then on, the two were dubbed Monochi 😎👍😎👍
Vegapatch managed to nab the #7 spot, so a F.A.N.G player made it to TOP 8 in Capcom Cup. He beat out EVO 2022 champ Kawano’s Luke. Yes, a F.A.N.G won against a Luke, and that Luke was played by an extremely strong player from Japan. Now THAT is something to talk about!
Tumblr media
Yes, that’s me screaming like crazy there lol!
I must mention that Garnet of Italy almost made it to Capcom Cup IX. He would have been the third F.A.N.G player (I drew that picture before Mortsy became the actual third) to have make it. There would have been 4 FANG mains really lol. But he was outdone by Geeck-O’s Cammy. That is not the end of it though. Garnet is qualified for this year’s Capcom Cup X as a Dhalsim main. Yes, he did tried out A.K.I. because of the F.A.N.G affiliation, but her playstyle is not quite the same as her Master’s…and AKI is in serious need of buffs lol 🙏🙏, and the game mechanics can be overwhelming. So he went back to Dhalsim. Nevertheless, I’m rooting for Garnet because he was an amazing former F.A.N.G main. And don’t mind the error on my other Garnet fanart as my mind slipped away writing 2020 instead of 2022 😅😅
Sometime after Capcom Cup IX, Mono competed at EVO Japan 2023 and placed at the 5th spot against a total of 1,797 participants. There was also a Monochi moment. And just a few days after, Mono flew to Southern California and placed 1st at DreamHack 2023 at San Diego. Super awesome!
Tumblr media
Yes, that’s two-time Capcom Cup champ MenaRD celebrating Mono’s birthday on that art.
One F.A.N.G main placed at 9th at Capcom Cup in SFV’s Season 1 in 2016. Three F.A.N.G mains at Capcom Cup was made possible in 2023, and one placed at Top 8. Hopefully we’ll get to see at least three A.K.I. Players in a Capcom Cup event by the end of SF6’s lifespan or even earlier than that 💜🤞🤞💜

June 2023 Brawl Talk
Tumblr media
OH FUCK DANI IS IN THE BACKROOMS!!!!!!
more below the cut!
Tumblr media
the new brawler this season is Cordelius, a, um..... mushroom, guy...? they say he was a gardener in starr park, but the toxicity of the place drove him mad; now he's stuck there. oh shit thats LORE!!!!!! nothing we didnt already know but wow!!!!
most of his kit isnt a whole lot; his main attack seems a little on the weaker end, but he is very fast to make up for that. on top of that, his super transports himself and whomever he hits to another dimension where they fight... TO THE DEATH!!! however, the odds are most definitely in his favor, as he gains a speed(!) and reload speed boost while his opponent can't use any gadgets or supers.
there's also spore mind cordelius, the tier 70 brawl pass skin, but frankly i dont care about it. blah blah blah another evil tier 70 brawl pass skin. this is like the third one we've gotten so far, right?
Tumblr media
this skin (haunted house 8-bit) sucks dookey im not talking about it.
Tumblr media
STONE TROLL LOU IS AWESOME THOUGH!!!! but its the power league skin *among us sound effect*
Tumblr media
i actually quite like wood spirit chester. the face reminds me of el muneco from guacamelee 2 :) might not go out of my way to get it however.
finally...
Tumblr media
ughhhh i could talk about my gripes with this skin now, but i'll save that for another post. tldr its a fun design but its also a big day for annoying people
there are more skins coming in The Summer of Pirates (keeping to the theme of summer of x) but i dont really care for any of them enough to cover here. which is funny considering griff and surge both got skins for this event.
its time for the best fucking part of this brawl talk though DOUG!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
hes actually so awesome and looks so fun to play mechanically. plus i looooove hot dogs WAIT THATS WHY HES NAMED DOUG BECAUSE. BECAUSE THE THE THE HOT DOG!!!!!!!!!
mechanically he has a range similar to (maybe a little smaller than?) jacky, but with attacks like byron. that is, they both heal and hurt. there's also a bit of a point-blank mechanic in play where the closer everyone is to doug, the more health they gain/lose. i also noticed that the healing and damage arent 1:1, which actually makes me a little peeved since they refuse to do something similar for byron. but its whatever though (-:
moving on, he is the first brawler in the game that is able to revive others and himself! wait what about 8bit with extra life?? ...anyway, his super functions very similarly to gus, but replace the shield with a revive effect. of course, this revive effect doesnt last forever! i noticed that brawlers dont drop their gems if they get revived though, which sounds like he will be really good in gem grab. maybe. idk.
theres also the obligatory recolor skin draco doug. not much to talk about with that though <3
not to mention skin remodels! dark tide carl, iris tara (now stara), smuggler penny, and phoenix crow!!! wow!!! bonnie is also getting some 29 gem skins, unicorn bonnie and footbonnie (LIKE FOOTBALL. GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE GUTTER!!!)
finally, the moment some of you have been waiting for...! ARE! BOXES! RETURNING!!!
NO!!!!!!!!
i audibly cheered when they said that. however the mechanics are coming back in their own unique way. its in a way that i feel is a lot less predatory, so im overall happy with this, er... rework...?
Tumblr media
introducing starr drops! you earn drops through winning matches (any kind of match counts) that can range from rare to legendary, much like the brawlers. you also get four chances to upgrade these drops, but the chances seem very small. drops can give resources, brawlers, pins, sprays, icons, and even skins! small caveat, only skins purchasable with bling that are not limited can be rewarded.
they also go into some stuff about how this is an overall buff to resource gain. i'll take their word for it :)
some extra stuff! payload is back, but the payloads themselves have no collision (basically meaning you can walk/shoot through them now. like hotzone but the zones move). takedown my beloved and wipeout my despised are back in rotation. quests can now be completed with more than one (but not every) brawler. speaking of quests, premium quests can now be progressed, even if you havent purchased the premium brawl pass. this makes it all the more sweet when you purchase the brawl pass after the beginning of the season :D
finally, paula is going to be leaving the brawl stars team. i wish her all the best <3

answering the nukani Q&A because I have a need to be constantly talking about this game even when no one asked
1. What got you interested the game? What kept you playing?
My friends were talking about the upcoming gacha What In Hell Is Bad, and linked to a reddit post about it. The comments on the post mentioned NU: Carnival, and I downloaded it as a joke, thinking it'd be another trashy, poorly written porn game. Turns out it was not!
I was also sort of in-between hyperfixations at the time. My hyperfixation immediately before NuCa was FFXIV, but I was doing a lot of raiding and got kinda burned out. It was a perfect storm of coincidences.
2. Who was your first SSR?
FG Quincy. I was... not impressed. That outfit is so ugly. I didn't know about rerolling at the time and had already bound my account, so I just kinda thought to myself, "man, I don't know any of these guys, but the other two are cuter."
Then I got FG Olivine. All is well.
3. Who’s on your home screen? Do you tend to stick to the same character/card or switch it up? Do you have Eiden onscreen with them?
CoD Olivine <3 It's always Olivine on my home screen, except for the day home screen Eiden was released and I wanted to hear everyone else's exchanges.
I currently have Eiden on my home screen, but only because I wanted CoD Olivine to have something to sit on, and the way I positioned him, it looks weirdly empty without Eiden. I actually prefer for him to not be there because hearing the start of a long-ass exchange every other minute drives me nuts.
4. Favorite character?
Take a guess.
5. Favorite Eiden ship?
Take a second guess.
6. Favorite non-Eiden ship?
I don't really feel strongly enough about non-Eiden ships to pick one favorite. I just really like kitchen table poly clan. Olivine ships rank higher for me because I have a problem, but they also don't rank higher than each other.
7. Favorite territory of Klein?
The Fire Territory is neat! I want to learn more about it.
8. Favorite chapter?
I think chapter 10 is the most interesting, plot wise - most of the other chapters were more about introducing one guy. I did only start playing early January of 2023, so the wait for chapter 11 wasn't as painful for me compared to older players.
9. Favorite event?
Idol Fest Idol Fest Idol Fest
They made a whole song!!!!
I'm a singer irl. I took graded exams and everything. There is no universe in which I don't love the idol event.
10. Favorite original SSR?
Blade! I love his outfit, and his OG SSR is just so cool for having unique lines and a different personality.
11. Favorite event SSR?
Take a third guess.
12. Favorite H scene?
CoD Olivine's R5 man,, it's just everything to me. Even just remembering it right now is making me Feel Things.
13. Current level?
Level 60 babey!
14. Most powerful unit?
ZfL Olivine. He's my only 3* SSR, and even my most powerful SR (Quincy) is only 4*.
15. Least powerful unit?
Apparently it's OG Quincy. He's only 1* and I have invested nothing into him, so that checks out.
16. How many of your units have maxed out bonds, if any?
3... Events aren't giving me time to grind intimacy gifts orz
17. Do you strategize & focus on gameplay, or are you just here for the spice?
Yes.
Honestly, there's not enough horny for me to stick around if it were the ONLY thing I was interested in. You know how I mentioned above that I'm a FFXIV raider? Believe it or not, the harder NuCa fights actually scratch a similar itch. They're scripted puzzle fights and sometimes you have to maximize damage output to pass, so they're kinda similar to FFXIV raids in that sense. I often find myself using similar logic, in any case.
18. Thoughts on the challenge events? (Sorcerer’s Trials, Lost Relics, etc)
My teams are too goddamn baby to finish the Sorc Trials ladder, but I'm managing to snag all the contracts off it! Trial 55 of the current season is my personal hell. I know how to do the mechanics but I straight up don't have the stats, which is so frustrating.
I was kind of surprised at how easy the earlier Lost Relics stages are - I cleared some of them with a level 40, 2*, pot 2 SR Yakumo. Yeah, he was my second best healer at the time. Lost 04 and above are just not doable for me, though.
19. What’s your favorite thing about the game overall?
My non-NuCa friends lovingly make fun of me when I say this, but the character writing is genuinely good. They're still pretty tropey, but there's like, actual depth to them.
Also! Love love love that it's a harem with absolutely zero jealousy and an actually likeable MC. I'm so sick of harem fiction where they're constantly fighting each other over an oblivious MC who has the personality of a wet paper bag. Everyone in NuCa knows what's up and they're all fine with it.
20. Got any wishes for the future of the game? (Story, events, new characters, etc?)
So many outfits I want to see Olivine in,, Enough that I'm embarassed about how obsessive I am, honestly.
I also hope that we get one more bottom, for an even 50/50 ratio of tops to bottoms, then no more new characters. I don't think bottom Eiden is superior and I'm tired of pretending otherwise, and I also don't want the cast to get too bloated.

FP2: Russell heads second practice in Mexico City as Leclerc crashes out
George Russell put Mercedes at the top of the timesheets during second practice for the Mexico City Grand Prix, with the extended session – featuring more 2023 tyre testing – punctuated by a heavy crash for Charles Leclerc. As per the United States GP weekend, Friday’s second session at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez was stretched out from 60 to 90 minutes, allowing for plenty of prescribed runs (which included set stint lengths and fuel loads) on the unmarked development Pirelli rubber. READ MORE: Sainz leads Ferrari 1-2 as Mexico City weekend gets under way But it was Russell who led the way with an early lap time of 1m 19.970s on 2022-spec soft tyres, given that the regular drivers who sat out FP1 were permitted to run their own programme for the first half of the session to help them make up for lost time (Russell having handed his car to Nyck de Vries). Not long after Russell’s pace-setting effort, Leclerc lost control of his Ferrari at the entry to the high-speed Turn 7 and dramatically slid backwards into the barriers on the outside of Turn 8, inflicting significant damage on the car’s rear end and bringing out the red flags. 1 George Russell RUS Mercedes 1:19.970 2 Yuki Tsunoda TSU AlphaTauri +0.828s 3 Esteban Ocon OCO Alpine +1.207s 4 Lewis Hamilton HAM Mercedes +1.539s 5 Sergio Perez PER Red Bull Racing +1.609s With Leclerc unharmed, his car cleared away and the barriers repaired, the action resumed shortly after the halfway mark, but there were no changes at the front of the order as drivers worked their way through further tyre tests. Behind the pace-setting Russell, Yuki Tsunoda and Esteban Ocon also used the current C4 soft as they returned to action, albeit with the AlphaTauri driver some eight-tenths adrift, and the Alpine man more than a second off the pace. READ MORE: Red Bull enter Agreement with FIA over breach of 2021 Financial Regulations Lewis Hamilton led the pack of cars running solely on the unmarked Pirellis, 1.5s down on his Mercedes team mate, followed closely by the Red Bulls of home favourite Sergio Perez and double world champion Max Verstappen. Leclerc wound up P7 after his hefty crash, as Ferrari team mate Carlos Sainz, Alfa Romeo’s Valtteri Bottas and the other AlphaTauri of Gasly completed the top 10 positions in overcast but warm conditions. FP2 was another valuable session for Pirelli as the manufacturer gathered more 2023 tyre data Alpine’s Fernando Alonso, fresh from his P7 finish in Austin being reinstated, wound up 11th, ahead of Sebastian Vettel, the man he will replace at Aston Martin next season, with Alex Albon 13th after he sat out FP1 and lost around half an hour of track time FP2 as mechanics worked on his Williams. McLaren pair Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo took P14 and P15 respectively, as Lance Stroll’s Aston Martin, the Haas cars of Mick Schumacher and Kevin Magnussen, Nicholas Latifi’s Williams and Zhou Guanyu’s Alfa Romeo brought up the rear – the latter signalling a slightly early end to the session when he stopped in the final sector. READ MORE: Remembering the Rodriguez brothers – Mexico’s first F1 superstars Magnussen was the other driver to miss first practice, during which stand-in Pietro Fittipaldi ground to a halt, with the Dane’s day made worse by confirmation of an engine change that will lead to a five-place grid penalty for the Grand Prix. Attention will now turn to the third and final practice session in Mexico City, which is scheduled to get under way at 1200 local time on Saturday. Visit the RACE HUB for more information.
