"My mistake." The dry voice comes out with a tinge of desperate humor. Laurentius is struggling, they can hear it in his voice.

They are companions in that struggle. It's terrifying, immense and seemingly invulnerable, entirely lacking any mortal softness to slash apart.

It bears down with a silent maw. Fire lashes out, spectacular, blinding.

Bless you, pyromancer, Ifsahan thinks - maybe says - but there's no time.

They follow his fire with a swift miracle. A single, shouted word and a raised hand: force blasts outward, enough to rattle stones in their channels. Enough to knock the bone thing off its balance and maybe buy enough time for a longer chant.

It bears down on them; Ifsahan raises their shield, but it crunches down on shield and arm and all, and the song ends mid-phrase with a dissonant shout.

Not enough to kill. It turns its toothy head away. Ifsahan draws their sword and launches at it, intending to draw its attention away from Laurentius again.

Pain sings through their body, but at a distance. Healing will come soon.

If only they survive the battle.
