x. jessamy - headcanons

As an entity, Jessamy by species is a dream. Her original raven form was half-white/half-black in the service of Dream of the Endless.

Unlike other ravens who were once human and became ravens brokered by deals with Dream such as Matthew’s case, Jessamy was created in The Dreaming. She was born of dreams of truth through the Gates of Horn in service and companionship of Morpheus.

Though not his first raven, she is one of his longest serving and among most loyal subjects, second only to Lucien/Lucienne. (per plotting with iterations tbd)

As one of Dream’s creations, her death in the waking world created the paradoxical alternative to Matthew Cable’s deal to gain a human form for the sacrifice of her life to Morpheus.

As she is half-dream, half-human form she can exist between realms in either form giving her the variations of black and white markings from her original raven form. She possesses qualities of both though even in her human form, many of her personality traits resemble qualities of a raven and she lacks in human forms of interaction or social cues at times.

As it is suspected that ravens mate for life, her bond and loyalty to Morpheus is the manifestation of this type of relationship. She is protective of him, unnecessarily so at times and this is why she is often blinded by her devotion and loyalty to him, ultimately to a fault as it previously facilitated her death at the hands of Alex Burgess.

While in human or raven form, Jessamy can and does dream though a recurring nightmare she experiences is due to the trauma of her previous death.
