I’m Gonna Git You Suka (1988)… The exterior for the “Big Rim Bar” on the corner of West Pico blvd & South Norton ave. I watch this movie for the first time at 13 and laugh hysterically. I rewatched it during the lockdowns and it still laughed. Recommend it to a kid a work with after telling him about it. As far as I know, hasn’t watched it yet. Cine: Ray Wilkins (Scary Movie)

La serie “In Living Color” (1990-1994), además de darnos un primer vistazo a ese monumental e histriónico talento llamado Jim Carrey, consolidó a los hermanos Wayans como astros de la comedia estadounidense contemporánea.

Seis años más tarde, uno de ellos (Keenen Ivory), aprovechando el renovado éxito del cine de terror adolescente en cintas como “Scream, Vigila quién llama” (1997) o “Sé lo que hicieron el verano pasado” (1997), emprendió el objetivo de revitalizar otro género cinematográfico: la parodia. Y así dio el primer paso a una franquicia por demás exitosa que alcanzó cinco películas, de las cuales llegó a contar con la intervención de David Zucker y el guión de Pat Proft, verdaderas eminencias del humor absurdo merced a clásicos como “¿Y dónde está el piloto?” (1980), “Top Secret” (1983) o “La pistola desnuda” (1987) a partir de la tercera parte.

Haciendo gala de un humor hoy impensable, la entrega inicial presentaba una historia repetida hasta el hartazgo: un grupo de adolescentes es acosado por un temible, aunque torpe, asesino psicópata que se esconde bajo una máscara grotesca. Entre los muchos chistes de trazo grueso diseminados a lo largo de una hora y media de puro desmadre, uno de los más recurrentes es el de Ray Wilkins (Damon Wayans). En apariencia es un deportista orgulloso de su heterosexualidad y de su actitud de macho alfa, pero constantemente saca a relucir su verdadera sexualidad mediante chistes y gestos opuestos a lo que supone demostrar con actitud desafiante; ahí reside la gracia del personaje.
