Alex isn’t really looking for love – he’s got enough on his plate with law school thanks – but when he’s approached by Henry at a bar one night, all it takes is one small, shy smile and Alex is smitten.  Or, Alex accidentally takes a hot, hungry vampire home and almost dies (not really, he’s just being a dramatic little shit)

So aside from hurt/comfort, soulmate AUs are my JAM. Do people even say "my jam" anymore? Am I old? Anyway.

So I've been trying desperately to come up with a unique and original idea for a soulmate AU, and I think I might have something to work with. I don't want to put too many of my cards on the table right now, since it's very much still in its idea form, but I'll say that David is going to play a fairly important role in this one.

Anastasia was the first thing I thought of to ask you because it was the last thing we spoke about! Oh! and a bonus question: favourite scene in Anastasia? 👀

All right, well, you specified the film but I AM going to have to be annoying and give you one from the film and one from the Broadway show.

From the film: "Journey to the Past". It's such a beautiful, hopeful song that really highlights Anya's bravery, and the animation of it is just so much fun, and it always makes me smile.

From the Broadway show: "The Neva Flows". Almost... entirely the opposite of my above answer. I know the changes for Broadway were, oh let's say controversial, but while I LOVE the film I also really have a soft spot for the more grounded setting of the show. And I think there's something really important in this song about how nothing is ever actually black and white.

My favourite scene in Anastasia, film and show, is the Once Upon a December scene when the ghosts/memories/however you want to interpret it of her family appear and dance with her. 😭

Book: I’m gonna give you two favorites bc they’re so intertwined: Zoya Nazyalenksy and Nikolai Lantsov - particularly in the King of Scars books (the last series in the Shadow & Bone universe).

Movie: This is a super hard one for me! I could go with Alan Grant from Jurassic Park or Dottie Hinson from A League of Their Own and they would both be true on any given day.

Television: All time would be a day to day battle between Josh Lyman and CJ Cregg on The West Wing. Current would probably be … idk. Maybe Todd Wright on So Help Me Todd. Or Nick Torres on NCIS.

@myheartalivewrites: one of my go-to for comfort, all time fave fics. Alex and Henry as co summer camp counsellors, pining and bickering for years. The tension is top notch!

@dot524: It’s funny and I really enjoyed the camp setting and their journey from enemies to friends to lovers. This is a fun and cute fic.

@rmd-writes: an AU of The West Wing ep 'In the Shadow of Two Gunmen' - mind the tags, this is an angsty but beautifully written fic with very clever use of multiple POVs to tell several stories of love (including platonic love). This is so good I was mad I didn't write several lines in it myself.

@thesleepyskipper: Truly an incredible and unique work that was done with care. The way the various memories/flashbacks are done and how they are used as part of the storytelling absolutely blew me away. Loved that we got multiple POVs here too!

*weary sigh* So I'm still sick, which means I've been doing a lot of lying on the couch feeling sorry for myself and scrolling tiktok, and I... may have fallen down a rabbit hole. Between this and all the clamouring on sex club spanking for a sequel, my WIP list is now up to an even 60. Send help.

Alex is grinning as he reads the name he’s drawn, but Henry sees it—the way his smile goes fixed and brittle, the smallest of twitches between his eyebrows—and he knows what’s coming even before Pez leans over Alex’s shoulder and smirks, microphone pressed to his lips. “Alex Claremont-Diaz dancing with… Henry Fox-Mountchristen.” Alex practically stalks over to where Henry’s sitting, thrusting a hand out with the air of a man feeding one of his favourite appendages to a particularly hungry lion. Henry wonders if anyone else recognises how much fun Pez is having with this when he adds: “We are in for a treat with this one, folks.” “Why the fuck do you follow, anyway?” The words barely escape through Alex’s clenched teeth. “Don’t you think it would be more appropriate for you to lead?” “Because I’m a man?” Henry has his competition face on as much as Alex does, so he hopes when he quirks his eyebrow it looks teasing rather than challenging. “Bit of an outdated position to hold, don’t you think?” Alex rolls his eyes. “Not because you’re a guy, Jesus. Because you’re fucking eight feet tall with legs for days.” Henry blinks, suddenly unclear as to the exact turn this conversation has taken.

today i will be sharing the first bit of my (currently untitled) spanish tutor!alex fic because i love my bilingual king!!

“Hey,” Alex approaches him, breathless from the flights of stairs he mounted. “Henry, right?”

Henry turns his head to look up at Alex, slightly startled from his reverie. “Yes, and you’re Alex, I presume?” The roundness of Henry’s vowels immediately rivet Alex’s attention, along with his sharp blue eyes that seem to be looking everywhere else but him.

“Yeah, shit sorry I’m late. Time blindness, am I right?”

“No worries,” he rubs his palms over his jeans and Alex settles down into the seat next to him, setting his bag on the table with an obnoxious thud.

“So,” Alex begins, taking a notebook and a pen from his backpack and then shifting his attention back to Henry, “your application said you're taking spanish101, is that right?” Henry nods his head reticently. “Okay then, let’s start off with what you know and then we can work our way up from there.” Alex gives Henry a lopsided smile.

“Well, my spanish is very… limited, to put it quite frankly.” Henry scratches the back of his neck nervously, a light shade of pink spreading across his cheeks as he looks down at the Spanish textbook in front of him.

“That’s alright.” Alex smiles warmly. “We’ll start off simple, yeah?” He opens up to a random page of his notebook and begins to write down formal greetings in Spanish, along with the translations. Alex can feel Henry’s attentive gaze on him as he does.

“What about the textbook?”

“Oh— screw that thing.”
