When we finished watching honor among thieves, I turned to my friends and said that I really enjoyed it, and that it was better than the old dungeons and dragons movie.

One friend turned to me and said “they were in the movie you know? In the tournament as a cameo!”

I looked at him very confused because I did not remember this lot being a team in the games but guessed I must have missed them.

Man was fuckin talking about the cartoon.

Like no bro, im talking about the 2000s movie dungeons and dragons,, I have not seen the 80s cartoon. ALSO THAT IS NOT A MOVIE,, that’s a tv show.

That was fucking amazing. Xenk wasn't in it as much as I thought he would be, but he was amazing. They were all amazing. Besides Xenk, Holga was definitely my favourite.

one thing i really liked about honor among thieves is the attention to detail. like, for example, when they're entering the underdark, xenk, holga, and edgin carry lanterns, while doric and simon don't - because they have darkvision

Just watched Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. I knew as soon as they mentioned they could only ask the corpse five questions that they were going to accidentally waste them all, and yet the scene still managed to be laugh out loud hilarious.

My brain just realized that BG3 and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves are not only literally set in the same world (duh, they’re both DnD based projects and both projects were collaborated with the publisher of DnD), but also just years apart from each other (BG3 is set 1492 DR and DADHAT is late 1490s/generally believed to be 1499 DR) and not that far away from each other location wise!!

My brain, it has exploded and won’t let me sleep now over this discovery

“I am comfortable sitting here in silence, if it is such a burden to converse with me,” Xenk says, reasonably and when Ed narrows his eyes, he bends close and whispers, “my friend, do you realise you are saying all your inside thoughts out loud?”

“You are,” Ed scoffs.

In which Ed has a simple request, Xenk speaks fluent common, but everyone misunderstands each other anyway.

even if you don’t play DnD definitely go see honor among thieves; it’s super fun and well-done and accessible to people who’ve never played. if you want a slightly enhanced experience, do what I did an go with folks who do play, and ask them some of their favorite settings, character types, creatures, or tropes on the way over so you can be delighted when you recognize something.

#I was so thrilled to know about the underdark #and owlbears and mimics #really enhanced my delight #dndhat #dadhat #idk how long it’s been since I went to the movies #years probably #but it was so much fun #i was really impressed by how enjoyable the movie was for me #not knowing any of the tropes or lore or such #very accessible. they talk in interviews about using structures viewers will be familiar with to ease them into the setting #and they do a good job of not getting bogged down in terminology and just showing what things are/do #at the same time there are tons of settings and creatures and items that the friends I went with could recognize and enjoy #most weren’t plot related but they obviously added to the atmosphere #fight scenes were great #dialogue was funny #and there were a few times where you could even intuit mechanics despite it not being part of the movie #j next to me in the theater: persuasion check #or the dm making a complicated puzzle or obstacle course only for the party to immediately break it or go around #rip thank you for your service
