The first time I played Wytchwood I wasn’t able to finish it, so I wanted to take my time and try again. It’s equal parts cozy crafting and silly witchy vibes, which I love.

The gameplay is relatively easy to grasp and it's another game that was really easy for me to just hyperfocus on progressing. Even combat isn't just the standard hit-the-thing combat and is more dependent on crafting things to defeat each enemy.

I’m really glad I found time to continue it, and I really want to 100% it. I've been working on creating a series of guides for new players. I'll probably use this post as a way to keep all the Wytchwood guides I make in one place.

It’s not a very good quality video, but here’s a little look at the project so far!

After a VERY busy month, not much progress has been made, but it is starting to shape up I think. My goal design-wise is to create the “bones” of the level design, then fill the gamespace with detail.

I’ve leart that the two main ways to make an environment feel alive are sound design and movement, so I’ve worked to add these elements in three key ways:

-Water that moves/has sound effects

-A day/night cycle

-Movement sounds/animation

There are additinal steps I’m going to take to build further “living” elements into the game space, to really make it feel like a place worth exploring. I am DEFINITELY dodging the harder parts of development (i.e. actual coding), but I’m still happy with the progress so far.

AER is a breathtaking game, that lets you soar through the air through a world that is absolutely wow-inducing. You’ll also be able to put your puzzle-solving and navigation skills to the test. I really enjoyed my time playing it and definitely recommend it if you enjoy relaxing games.
