Watched the rest of the absurdity of a hostage story with Laurel and Collin...
Still...no words.
Like I could see that having been somewhat interesting if Marshall was like...still around? And this was how he finally got truly free of his father and that really made him start thriving or something as a character that was going to stay on the show. And maybe if Marshall had some part in the rescue attempt and got to help turn his father over to the police.
But as it stands...there’s just absolutely zero pay off for anything that happened in the last two episodes. I mean truly...what was supposed to be the point here other than giving them a headline or two in the soap mags??
It’s not even like Laurel not going to India originally was based on some fight she and Jai were having and him rescuing her was bringing them closer together again. Or even if Jai and Suni had really had more of a falling out before he left and them working together to find Laurel had brought them closer.
Like literally none of that.
It wasn’t even particularly satisfying to watch Colin finally get what was coming to him because I feel like him melting down in front of a reporter at the bus shelter reveal did that. Him losing his job and having nothing, that was good enough and not a convoluted mess.
Also the fact that Laurel didn’t just get up and fucking run when he sat her down on the bench was kind of ridiculous. As we learned with Aaron’s kidnapping skills, you have to tie their legs together so they can’t run...unless you’re Laurel. So silly.
And if all of that wasn’t bad enough, all of this hostage/kidnap nonsense totally undercut any significance to Rishi’s already off screen funeral. They just had to have a shock death, killing Rishi on Jai’s wedding day without them having made up. And then he gets like a day to grieve and a week to plan the off screen funeral. And then he’s off to India. To my knowledge (cause I can’t possibly be bothered to watch a whole episode), they didn’t even show the drinks they were supposedly having for Rishi in the pub. Instead of focusing on any of that, they decide to do a hostage story with fucking Colin who no one really cares about and make it all about that. And all about losing his wife and then Laurel losing Ashley and like...you just killed off a character of 12 years and this is what you’re focusing on?!
Sigh....
Not to mention all of the extreme pacing problems they have lately because they’re so fucking desperate to have new snappy spoiler headlines every week that insane things just happen all the time and have absolutely zero on screen impact because they’re over in an episode or two and then everything is back to status quo and you’re supposed to forget it ever happened.
It reminds me a lot of Kate Oats’ crazy Thursday doubles where you’d get Robert hiring a hitman to kill Chas and then be expected to forget it happened. And like Maxine wrote that episode and did everything she could with it, gave it nuance where there absolutely was none but that doesn’t make it any less ridiculous. And Isobel Cameron wrote this episode and like...the scenes themselves weren’t actually terrible if it had any business being a story in the first place. But I digress.
All that to say, current Emmerdale feels like Kate Oats’ crazy Thursday doubles on crack. (But at least Kate Oats had other longer running better paced stories with impact going on and not just all silly thursday doubles, which is what this feels like)
And it’s a fucking problem.
And I’m so jealous that the Hollyoaks producer is leaving because I want Jane and Company gone too. It’s not fair. We’ve all suffered enough.
okay...rant over

Jenna Coleman on DVD/Blu-ray: a quick reference
I last did this list a couple years ago, which sadly is an indication of the move away from permanent physical media releases, making collecting a Jenna Coleman library a bit of a challenge (though there's more out there than you may think!)
So time to update for September 2023. Courtesy spoiler break first...
As I am in Canada this list is primarily for North American releases but I acknowledge the UK where known to differ. As of September these are Jenna's shows known to be on DVD, either currently or out of print. Corrections welcome. List does not include bootleg/unofficial releases.
Waterloo Road Series 5: UK only DVD; Jenna's episodes were officially put on Youtube internationally. Season 1 came out on DVD in North America back in 2012, but no sign of the others.
Captain America: The First Avenger
Titanic (TV miniseries)
Dancing on the Edge
Doctor Who: Obviously, though with Disney+ now distributing nuWho it remains to be seen if this continues. Some of the shorts featuring Clara/Jenna, such as Five(ish) Doctors Reboot and Doctor Who: The Ultimate Guide, are only in special sets like The Matt Smith Years as far as I know. I can't recall if the 2013 Proms (including the golden ticket sketch) has appeared on North American DVD or Blu-ray.
Death Comes to Pemberley: North American DVD is reportedly the PBS edit, which may differ from UK version. I haven't seen any comparison done with the UK version.
Me Before You: sadly, I see this one a lot in Wal-Mart remainder bins
Victoria: Series 3 is difficult to find and might only be on DVD in North America, but Series 1 and 2 are widely available on DVD and Blu-ray and I've seen DVD box sets of all 3. The North American DVD/Blu-rays have the episodes as they aired on ITV and so do not include the extra scenes added for the PBS broadcast and also lack many of the bonus features of the UK releases; on the other hand, the DVD of Series 3 has the unedited Christmas special, which was edited down quite a bit by PBS (eliminating the entire "Victoria's sexy painting" subplot). I believe in the UK the special was released on its own DVD. I've heard the PBS edits are, or were, available for streaming in the US on the PBS website, but I haven't been able to confirm (which is a shame as there are some cute Jenna moments in the "bonus scenes").
Thunderbirds Are Go: Jenna did a guest voice in Season 2. It's had a DVD issue in the UK, but in North America it's only available on streaming.
The Cry: Only got a DVD release here (UK got a blu-ray too)
Inside No. 9: Jenna's guest appearance in series 5 is available on DVD (and maybe blu-ray) in the UK; it's only on streaming over here.
The Serpent: as it was a BBC broadcast in the UK, they got a DVD release back in 2021. Over here it was a Netflix exclusive, so at least so far, no physical release.
The Sandman: despite being a Netflix series, Season 1, which has Jenna in three episodes as Johanna Constantine, is getting a North American blu-ray in November 2023. According to Amazon UK, the release will be region-free and therefore should be playable in the UK.
---
At the present time, there is no indication of any releases for Emmerdale (given she was in hundreds of episodes, not a surprise. With the sole exception of Dark Shadows "soap operas" never get home video releases); Room at the Top (it's on streaming but given the licensing issues that nearly prevented it from being shown at all, it's unlikely to get a DVD issue anywhere); All My Sons (National Theatre Live has allowed home and school streaming but they don't do DVDs); and Corporate Monster (a short film likely only to be found on Youtube). Too early to say if Klokkenluider and Jackdaw, or the Amazon Prime-streamed Wilderness, will see DVD or Blu-ray release. The Jetty, being a BBC series, will likely get a DVD in the UK, but whether North America gets it will depend if it goes to streaming or gets picked up by the likes of PBS.

As much as I'd love my Robron ending haha, I feel like if they did that, it'd be similar to JP and Craig on Hollyoaks (like how they had two sunset endings but James Sutton kept returning, and it ruined the happy endings), which I'd find sooooo annoying lol. I just get this idea that Danny might be on Emmerdale basically for the rest of his working life - like even if he leaves and says he's going for good, I can't actually see him leaving the show permanently. In 2012 he left and came back in 2014, and in 2021 he left and is now back, so with both absences he only had two years off. Whereas I don't get that same idea about Ryan
The rational part of my brain doesn't want a return either. Definitely not with the current state of the show. The Robron part of my brain wants it and wants it now. I don't know anything about JP and Craig, I only watched Brendan Brady's storyline on that show, but I don't think anyone thought Danny was gone for good. And Danny is back now so if Ryan doesn't come back they'll eventually put him with someone else and I already hate that and that person, lol.
The basic truth is I just miss them. I miss how stupidly happy I was just to get to see them everyday. Yes, some of the fandom was a nightmare, and I definitely haven't missed the spoiler stress, but I have desperately missed them. I want to look forward to them again. And the buildup to the eventual reunion would sustain me for years. Ryan isn't doing anything else either and there is a big part of me that really feels like it's different this time. This time it feels possible and I like the anticipation of that.
Ryan is not like Danny in that the show is not his security blanket. But he clearly isn't busy with other projects. He does have another baby on the way and, they come from money, so he doesn't need the show but I need him to need this, haha, at least for now.

Hi. Great photos again today of the boys! But I do have a question for u to ponder about. Baring in mind that Danny Miller has returned to filming temporarily at emmerdale for their 50th celebrations. There were 3 confirmed returnees( Danny was one of them) but there has been a rumour going around that there might be some others. Do u think that Ryan has done some secret filming for the show or is that wishful thinking on the Robron fans 🤔 and the show is keeping it under wraps?? What are your thoughts and that can be to anyone else. 😀
Argh. My reply did not post so here we go again. I've heard about Aaron, Diane and Tracy (didn't know she left 🤷‍♀️) returning from a few weeks ago. At this point I don't really pay attention to current ED or spoilers but have shifted my interest to EE (unlike ED, I don't feel like I'm watching a plot but actual stories) as well as continuing with Robert's story on Classic ED. The show's focus on pregnancies, affairs and repeating plots just gives me zero interest in it. As for Ryan returning (for a cameo more than likely), I'm not getting my hopes up because we don't get nice things for our lads. Maybe the show will throw us a bone and there'll be parting shot of Aaron making a call as he leaves the village again to Robert (who's either still in prison or in their cottage working in their veggie patch in France) saying he's on his way back and he'll see him soon.
Sorry about the negativity but I just feel the anniversary is gonna more of the same with a side of a disaster (hurricane, tornado or of the similar ilk, don't recall now). The anniversary should be about embracing their history (including Pollard since he was there from the start) and that includes their original family (Sugdens/Merricks) but since they've pretty much wiped out the bulk of them, it won't be the same. Then there's the fate of Faith apparently moving ahead (wrong decision as with Val) making it down lifting rather than uplifting.

Did i read well? A cheating's storyline just ends and we have an other one? And this time with the most awful character of the soap, wendy posner. They are really doing everything to make her relevant. It's insane. Her character should had leave Emmerdale since years. They didn't even show how Victoria and her reconcile after Vic told her she wanted anything to do with her years ago.
And now, Wendy is treated as this lovely lady who did nothing wrong in her life. I saw some fans love her. I tried to give her character a chance because she was in an abusive relationship but she was the one who protected her Lee from justice. She was the one who harassed a girl in her own town and decided to move in Emmerdale as if she had any right in this baby. Some said she made amend of her mistakes but she never did. All she does is crying and lies.
And now, we will have that....😭
I mean we already have a current cheating storyline. Nicky is cheating on Gabby with Ally. So this is just a couple more since we also have Bob and Bernice almost kissing.
I don't, the spoilers for next week are pretty horrifying. I've also seen something about Bear thinking he has a chance with Mandy?!?!? I mean what the fuck is that?! Honestly. These people are just picking the literal worst combinations at this point.
But yeah I've seen this Wendy/Liam affair being promoted as a racy affair, a steamy fling and an illicit affair. I can almost guarantee it will be absolutely nothing of the sort. No one on this show knows what a steamy affair is. I mean look at what we've had in the not so distant past. Bob and Laurel? Nate and Moira? Pete and Priya? I wouldn't really consider Chas and Al a steamy affair especially considering the circumstances but at least I wanted her to cheat.
But in general, yes, Wendy is not a character that should EVER have been long term. She should have never been seen again after the sentencing. Luke should never have existed. But if she had to stay at all, she definitely should have followed Luke out the door. Because now she's just...there. And we get further and further away from the Lee story and how awful she was and how she had no business moving to the village to pressure Vic into having a relationship with Harry. And they want us to forget and a lot of people will but I will not.
But also, even still, she's not a very interesting character. I feel like she has all of Emma Barton's annoying "popping up everywhere to declare she's a medical professional (which she's technically not)" and none of her fun unhinged parts.
Truly a useless character. And it doesn't feel like we'll ever be rid of her. And ruining poor Liam with the likes of her is even worse. It better not last.
