Gorgeous 1965 mid-century modern tree house style home on the Pacific Ocean in Big Sur, California. 4bds, 3ba, $11.5M.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This home has been impeccably maintained and features a cupolaed living room with a panoramic view and round stone fireplace. Look at the wood flooring pattern.
Tumblr media
Not sure I like the stove in the middle of the floor, though. There's no counter space.
Tumblr media
I wonder if the bed conveys, since it's attached.
Tumblr media
What a cool bathroom, it's like being out in the garden. In fact, it looks like it IS open to the garden.
Tumblr media
Look at the tub.
Tumblr media
Round window with a view of the patio.
Tumblr media
All of these multi-million dollar homes have yoga studios.
Tumblr media
Spiral stairs in the hall.
Tumblr media
Bedroom #2 has a pyramid-shaped window and lights, b/c pyramids are said to have positive energy.
Tumblr media
This is a beautiful office with a fireplace and stone floor.
Tumblr media
It's a stepdown from this bedroom and can be closed off by a sliding accordion door.
Tumblr media
Cozy family room with an ocean view.
Tumblr media
It's so private up here there's an outdoor tub next to the pool. That hill, though, is a little too close.
Tumblr media
Terrace over a pond.
Tumblr media
There are 5.10 acres of beautiful land, but most of it looks hilly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Path to a cute she shed.
Tumblr media
This is called the Big Creek State Marine Conservation Area.

Run of "Yinmai Cinematic" commissions from 2022. Commentary on each piece (yes, each) below.
I learned that I really, really liked comms where I was tasked to tell a story in a single still composition. The Yinmai series of commissions was an experiment in limiting/directing the prompts to suit this desire: the composition is inherently limited with the anamorphic-esque crop, which means having a typical character-on-white-background comm isn't really possible. The space around a character becomes exaggerated and emphasised, and so by nature this comm style forces you to engage in visual storytelling.
Luckily, I seem to have really good clients who know how to rise to the occasion. I actually had a contingency tier for Yinmai, where I would accept avatar/portrait comms for those not interested in the whole cinematic affair—no one took me up on it.
In order of appearance:
AstroVernox
She commissioned me years ago, before she came out as trans. I think her initial prompt was actually a more mundane scene of being in a cupola, but to work with the drama of yinmai we agreed to adjust it, as well as making a bit of a reference to her transition.
Noir
A fun experiment in quads composition, where the negative space around the subject is further exaggerated and creates a strong sense of empathy. Good for a bit of horror.
Flake (Light Era diagetic)
Ditto as above. One of the two trial comms before I opened publicly. The character of theirs is Trellis, and they included a Dropbox folder of inspiration images; one of them was of the hydroponics scene from the film Sunshine. I incorporated that into this.
Fosh (Light Era diagetic)
She wanted a piece about being out in the field in the Olympic forests. I had a lot of fun with the trees and the colour in the sky makes it really stand out amongst this set.
Taky (no social media) (Light Era diagetic)
They requested them as a Wintertide Adept, which got me a bit hesitant since I never liked to romanticise the military aspect of Light Era too much, but I read their prompt further and they requested a more sombre mood of anticipation, maybe dread. A great example of a client understanding the assignment, if you will. I thought about showing the feeling of isolation by strategically placing the window frame to separate him and the rest of the group in the background.
Forth & Hydrophagist
The other trial comm of this series. The dramatic nature of Yinmai means it's predisposed to show character at a moment of weakness or emotional vulnerability. It makes me more comfortable portraying military themes as it moves it away from ideas of dominance or strength.
Ashii (Light Era diagetic)
Much the same as above, but taken to a larger scale—a little more chaotic, a little more frantic. Playing with depth was very fun. This one is the most popular piece of the series, apparently.
Panzica
Prompt was making a call under the feeling of uncertainty, if I recall correctly. I sneakily referenced a police interrogation room for the environment. The worm's eye view works for the idea, but I feel like I could have executed the anatomy better.
Phenokage
The prompt was of their character, Trouble, whose backstory is a lot of them learning how to deal with being turned into a macro; feelings of being out of place and learning to cope felt resonant as someone of Asian descent living in a foreign country. I felt like I could evoke this feeling by trapping her between a building and the cage-like railings of an expressway headed in the wrong direction.

Roženski manastir (Rožen monastery), view of konak čardak
Rožen (Rozhen), Bulgaria
The northeast corner of the monastery is marked by an čardak and cupola (bell tower) that project from the konak galleries and rise above the perimeter walls. Views from the square-shaped čardak platform span east, south and west to include the monastery church, courtyard, and surrounding konaks as well as the mountainous landscape beyond. The bold wood construction of the čardak constrasts with the delicate octagon of the cupola, whose eight wooden posts are topped by plastered arches that rise outward as soffits to the roof eaves. One of the funniest conceits of jumping through time and space is that you find a (habitable) planet on the other side. Even if you're just moving through time, the earth is in constant orbit around the sun, which is in constant orbit around our galaxy's center. Chances are, your ass will end up somewhere in space.
Naturally, I'm thinking Ciri yeets herself through spacetime to escape the Wild Hunt and then bonks into the International Space Station or some shit.
It's theoretically possible to survive exposure to vacuum for a few minutes (although you'll probably only have a few seconds of consciousness left.)
And because it's too funny not to, imagine Ciri just bonked the cupola module. There's this beautiful vista of Earth and then Ciri spins by holding her head before she vanishes in contravention of all known physics.
Shortly after that, a bunch of wraith-larping weirdos on horseback appear, bonk the cupola, and then disappear just as quickly. Not before the horses poop though, which leaves a trail of frozen manure nuggets in low earth orbit.
POV: You're one of the ISS crew who had been enjoying the view of Earth with some peanut butter on a tortilla

Quite certain that this is the only vantage point in architecturally-impoverished Vancouver where you can perceive a classical Composite column and a domed cupola without even having to swivel your head. And we've strategically inserted ourselves right into the view. This only works in the leafless months before the Victory Square maples conceal the Sun Tower so hasten down to historic Crosstown*, we are open our usual 10-6 daily all through the Easter long weekend.
*Crosstown is that area of downtown that’s not Gastown, not Chinatown, and almost but not quite the DTES. Historically it was home to Vancouver’s Book Row, a concentration of used booksellers, which is perhaps from whence it got its name (Curmudgeon Alley having been rejected as being too much of a mouthful).

How about this non-credible gem!
I remember when things like this were getting posted on
r/Noncredibledefense all the time, the mods started removing them for being "low effort posts". I happen to thing they're pretty low effort as well, so I'm going to rate Just This One and ask that you send me some thing other than a photoshop in the future.
This is an M113 with the gun and mantlet from a "Hetzer" photoshopped to the front. This would not work, the front of the M113 is entirely taken up by the engine and driver's positions.
But, I'll tell you how to turn an M113 into a casemate gun TD anyway.
In the 1960's Germany had something called the Kanonenjagdpanzer 90.
Tumblr media
This guy, the idea of gun TDs was starting to become obsolete, but this is what we're going to try and mimic.
Put a water proof side hatch on both sides of the M113
Move the engine to the back of the tank, the original rear door is the new engine service hatch
Take the gun and traversal system from an M56 scorpion mount it where the previous engine hatch was
upgrade the gunners sight with nightvision
make a mantlet for the gun and install the sight in it; don't worry about armor, just make it waterproof with good traversal speeds and angles
mount panoramic nightvision periscopes for the driver and gunner
enlarge the commander's cupola and install a rotatable nightvision view finder
install seating for the gunner and loader
install ammo racks
And that should do it! If you followed the instructions your vehicle will have a FINAL SCORE of:
Credibility: 7/10 - Ready For The A1 Model
Coolness: 6/10 - Forest MultiCam
BONUS
The Online Tank Encyclopedia ,where you'll fine plenty of cursed things that people actually tried to build! (sometimes they even succeded)

The Commonwealth Calls
An Excerpt: Steel Clad Coffins
Hey all! Wrote up a scene for SCC, and in a sense it's the one that started it all. Now in a very different form, of course, but I still liked it, at least as a one-shot first draft.
Major spoilers below, though, so proceed with caution.
Tagging @athenswrites @theprissythumbelina [I'll tell you that Goyan's here, but not in a way you'd probably be happy about] @hessdalen-globe @caxycreations @nerdexer @thatndginger @coffeexafterxmidnight
Bright light. Pitch black. Somewhere outside, a furious, throaty roar, and something was burning. The thick smoke stung her awake, and Goyan opened her eyes, wet with more than just tears, and saw the pit of hell that her armtrack had become. Smoke filled the turret compartment, and down past her own feet she saw Kopp’s slumped form lying there, unmoving. Her mouth creaked opened without a sound, and trying to grab his shoulder she found she couldn’t even raise herself, her arm pinned against the turret wall by her own weight. “Major…” Goyan heard a voice, or thought she did, somewhere to her left and out of sight. A horse, crying voice, and suddenly a pair of hands on her left shoulder pulled her facing straight. She saw Cochise’s wide-eyed face stare into her, and gasped for air more to let him know she still breathed than to fill her lungs with the fumes. He stared for maybe another second, before his wits returned, and the corporal reached up to his hatch on the ‘ceiling’. With a final burst of effort he swung it out and open, and scrambled to find enough purchase to crawl out of the turret. Though her legs felt as dead as wood, Goyan strained, and with a hiss of pain turned her head up to her own cupola. Its hatch was as tightly shut as she’d left it, but steeling herself she reached out with one hand, then the other, crawling up in her seat and dragging her legs all the way. Her hands tried to grapple with the hatch, but suddenly it swung open, and the sounds of battle raging beyond leaked into her world once again. For a moment, she could see the stars, before a helmeted figure came into view. Not Cochise, but they reached with a hand down into the turret, shouting at her with words she couldn’t hear. She turned her head back down to Kopp, still face down at his gunner’s station, then took it.

Just look at this beautiful freshly restored 1882 Victorian with the mansard roof. It's in Stillwater, Minnesota, has 3bd 2ba, priced at $550K, and some lucky people already have a pending offer on it.
Tumblr media
I thought that they painted the wood black, but that's its natural color and patina. Note the original bell on the door.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Enter directly into the living room and there're stairs, plus a cute alcove.
Tumblr media
Isn't this a sweet little niche to sit with a book or needlework, and a cup of tea.
Tumblr media
The living/dining room are an open concept layout.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The kitchen was completely remodeled and is super cute. Plus, it has a nice-sized everyday dining area.
Tumblr media
Off the kitchen is a powder room with the cutest little sink.
Tumblr media
Nice stairs to the 2nd fl. has the perfect choice of carpet.
Tumblr media
Wow, this is a spacious main bd.
Tumblr media
And, the interior reflects the shape of the mansard roof.
Tumblr media
The secondary bedroom is just as lovely.
Tumblr media
And, here's the smaller 3rd bd. that is also very nice.
Tumblr media
What a sweet little claw foot tub.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sunny little yellow Victorian is a dollhouse and it's know as "Grandma Bean's Playhouse," to the family.
Tumblr media
There's a nice 2 car garage.
Tumblr media
A small stone patio in the garden.
Tumblr media
The cupola is the jewel in the crown.
Tumblr media
Plus there's a great view of the St. Croix River.
