I'm very torn between wanting to spoil myself for CSI NY so I can know when/how Danny and Lindsay get together (and also make sure nothing dreadful happens because I have CSI-related trust issues), and also making myself wait because they're so freaking cute that I want to be surprised.

You were by the nurse’s station, tablet in hand as you read over one of your patient’s chart. They were already doing so much better since you had first seen them. The moment you touched them, their injuries disappeared and they started healing from the inside. Another day and they’d be well enough to go home and finish their healing there. It made you smile to yourself, once again grateful for your abilities.

“Dr. {Last Name}?” a voice called out from behind you.

You turned around, coming face-to-face with two men you’d never seen before. One was taller than the other, giving you a soft smile as if to appear nonthreatening. The other did the same, except his was wider and more friendly.

“Yes? What can I do for you?” you asked.

“My name is Barry Allen with CCPD’s CSI and this is my colleague, Cisco Ramon. Could we talk in private?” the tall one named Barry asked.

“Sure, we can talk in my office,” you told them before beginning to walk away from the nurse’s station.

You led them down the halls of the hospital towards a small room that was your office. You opened the door and let them go in first, entering yourself once they were inside and closing the door behind you. When the door was shut, you turned to look back at them, wondering what the CSI division needed with you.

“We’re here because you were attacked a week ago, by Goldface’s men,” Barry explained.

You stood still at the mention of Goldface, for a second reliving the night you were attacked. You were walking home from your shift at the hospital when they came out of nowhere. You didn’t know what they wanted with you at first but three of his men were holding you a knife point. Their intent was to kidnap you and they would have, if it hadn’t been for The Flash saving you.

“What about them?” you asked.

“We need to know why they attacked you that night. We think it might be related to a case we’re working on,” Cisco told you.

You stayed silent for a moment, contemplating on what you should say. There was a reason you were attacked, they had planned to kidnap you for your abilities. How they found out about them was beyond you but they knew you were a meta with healing powers. A meta like you was worth millions on the black market and their every intent was to sell you to the highest bidder.

“I-I don’t know, I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I’m sorry, I don’t think my situation is related,” you lied.

You saw Barry’s eyebrows furrow for a moment, fully knowing he didn’t believe you. You didn’t want to be involved in this, you got lucky that night and you wanted it to stay that way.

“We can help you, we’ll make sure he and his men won’t hurt you again,” Barry said, hoping to ease your worries and encourage you to speak.

You were quiet again, but something about him told you you could trust him. He felt familiar somehow. “They wanted me for my abilities. I’m a meta-human with healing powers. I don’t know how they found out, the only time I ever use my powers is here at the hospital.”

Neither of them spoke but they shared a look between each other that told you everything. They weren’t shocked about what you told them so you could only assume they had already known.

“You need to come with us. We can keep you safe until we know his men won’t be after you again,” Cisco said.

“I’m sorry I can’t. I have patients here who need me, I can’t just leave them,” you argued.

“Dr. {Last Name}, please come with us. We want to ensure your safety so your patients can continue to have a doctor like you,” Barry spoke this time.

You furrowed your brows this time, thinking about his words before ultimately nodding your head in agreement. He was right, in order for you to keep treating people as you were, you needed to be safe first. After you agreed, they told you they’d be back after your shift was over, giving you the chance to finish your day and pass your patients to someone else in the mean time.

'Irish actors claim they have been treated like the poor relations in the film industry for decades despite big government tax breaks for major studios.

LA-based actor Alan Smyth revealed that Colin Farrell, Ruth Negga and Cillian Murphy have signed a petition for fair and equal pay for native performers and crew.

Over 2,500 people have added their signatures online.

It says the Irish diaspora in the US and worldwide strongly support the efforts of Irish Actors Equity, which is in talks with several government ministers to secure a guarantee “that Irish performers will not be subject to lesser terms and conditions regarding their intellectual property rights than international performers in similar roles”.

“This, unfortunately, has been the case for many years,” it states.

The petition is still open as Irish Equity plans to hold a solidarity rally with the striking SAG-AFTRA union and the Writers Guild of America today.

Smyth, who is from Dundalk, has first-hand experience of the set-up on both sides of the Atlantic. He has reaped the benefits of the American system where actors traditionally got residual cheques whenever their performances are aired.

The threat now, he says, is that the so-called “streamer” networks are imposing drastic cuts to the value of the residuals.

Hence, the strikes.

“It’s a lot worse in Ireland,” said the actor, who has starred in a number of big TV dramas, including CSI: NY and Criminal Minds.

“The system in Ireland is that the Irish cast and crew for the most part, unless it’s Colin or Cillian, are put on buyout contracts so don’t get residual payments.

“The awful thing about it is the Irish Government gives tax breaks to film and TV productions. Within the productions, the Irish cast and crew are paid far less than anyone brought over from England or the US. It’s 100pc discriminatory.

“Colin, Cillian and Ruth Negga have got behind the petition. They know how hard it is until you get to a point where you’re doing really, really well. I can really see how hurtful it is in Ireland.”

Actor Gerry O’Brien lodged a cheque for $800 (€735) yesterday for his role as an Irish man in Pirates of the Caribbean years ago. The payment covers just a quarter of the year.

He got a US contract for the job, rather than the typical Irish buyout one.

In contrast, he has earned just €54 in residuals in the last 20 years here. That was for an RTÉ TV series.

O’Brien said Equity wants a contract for Irish actors like that on offer to their British counterparts. The coveted UK contract sets out minimum pay rates, residual arrangements and other terms and conditions.

Irish production companies offer the buyout contracts on behalf of the major international studios when they are in town, he says.

A Dublin-based actor (27) did not want to be named for fear he would be “blacklisted” when going for jobs.

He has been following the Hollywood strike very closely.

“It shines a light on just how unfair the industry is,” he said.

“Those at the top are earning incredible amounts of money and profit. In a large part, it is due to those at the bottom scraping a living.

“I graduated from drama school in 2017. Last year, I made the most money I ever made working as an actor and that was €14,000. Obviously that is not sustainable.

“If you work on an Irish film, you get paid for the day of work and never see another penny. I routinely sign off my rights for €600 or €700 a day.

“I’m delighted that Cillian Murphy and Colm Meaney are coming out in support of small fry actors like myself.”

Actor Owen Roe has won many theatre awards during his career and his film appearances including Breakfast on Pluto, Intermission, Wide Open Spaces and Michael Collins.

He said actors here are “not prepared to go on strike” but it is an opportunity to inform younger ones of their rights.

“It’s far more competitive as well . There is AI and all those things. The whole buyout situation is not good for us.”

He was glad to see Cillian Murphy and other stars walk out of the Oppenheimer premiere in support of their US union.

“They don’t have to financially, I’d imagine,” he said. “It gives confidence to people who feel they are being exploited.

“I think it will be interesting to see what happens in America. If the whole thing of buyouts and residuals gets sorted. The attitude that we’re cheaper is offensive,” he said.'

Hello! Someone here has like, general tips to writing 'episodic' case fics? I'd like to write this idea that involves a series of autoconclusive cases that bring the characters close, until the final case which is the most longer and the one that finally has the characters becoming a couple.

I've decent read amount of crime novels here and there (Hercoles Poirot and Father Brown being my faves), but well... the novels are novels. It's One Big Crime happening (or sometimes two!), not a series of crimes (that aren't even related a la Moriarty) like you typical American TV Show.

And of course, I could google "how to write a crime story" (I did) but you all know how shitty the articles can be sometimes LMAO (one I did open and one of the tips simply was "write a flawed detective"). So I'd like better to have tips and (perhaps good article?/posts/what-have-you) recs.

Your typical CSI plot is mostly distinguished from novels by being simpler. The overall structure is often still Red Herring One, Red Herring Two, Conclusion, more or less.

Man, I love ncis. I think the shows I was first ever obsessed about were csi and ncis. I've loved this show for ages now. Annnd with being an og ncis fan comes the adventure that was following Tiva's story upclose for all those years they were on screen. If I'm being honest, truly honest, even though I always name another couple (that also gave me so much) when asked which is my favorite otp, the real answer has always been Tiva. The way just the thought of those two makes my heart vibrate is... otherworldly.

And I've been active here on tumblr for so many fandoms but never for ncis/tiva. And I don't know why???

I started watching ncis when I was a child and I'm almost 30 now. I'm not an American and I didn't have any friends who liked it when I was a teenager, not even my fandom friends on the bird app, I was literally the only one watching it, dying over tiny Tiva moments alone... so I never posted anything about it. Sometimes I write fanfiction, but my only Tiva fic I wrote just a couple years ago, and I also love to make gifsets but I don't think I've ever made anything ncis related. That frustrates me now, because I just noticed the amount of people here I could've been interacting with.

How come I never thought of checking out the ncis and tiva tags in here??? I remember it being so SO lonely watching and suffering through Ziva's departure alone 'cause there was nobody to talk about it with. A couple seasons after that I dropped ncis for a while, but couldn't stay away for too long and went back to watching it.

I'm still as in love with it as the first day. All other shows that last this long tend to lose intensity and/or quality, but ncis just keeps on giving me life. These days I've been missing Tiva way too much, my heart hurts. I started rewatching the show and wanna be making some tiva content.

(btw, what are all these rumors about them coming back, I'm about to have a heart attack just thinking about it)

and he will ask if you want to see or stroke his snake and then make horrible suggestive puns afterwards

but he's actually a complete sweetie with his little serpent baby(s)

calls himself their daddy, makes weird comments about how they're just like him when he feeds them mice (like it's obvious he's making some comment about predator and prey but it's weird)

he's not a fan of using them as a prop, so he won't be seen out with them around his neck and using them as a symbol of fear

i think i got this exactly right, because he could have had rats, he could have any number of the night time trash animals actually

but he wouldn't have a pet intentionally

it would have to be something that kind of existed in the same space as him, that he vaguely related to

that he caught doing it's thing one night and it just resonated him as their little eyes caught one another and they slowly went back to their own sneaky business

and that's how he ended up becoming the reluctant but semi-caring not-really-an-owner of imp, the possum

he doesn't live indoors with eddie, and he comes and goes as he pleases

but he frequents the dumpster right outside the entrance to the water company

and eddie feeds him leftover scraps and sometimes buys him enrichment toys from pet shops if he's feeling particularly soft

imp probably has some kind of disease, so eddie has never petted him, but he secretly wants to (he could keep his gloves on!)

but it's fine, he sees him more of a colleague anyway, one that is comparatively intellectually equal given how many times he broke into the dumpster

anything poisonous or completely deadly is something he would be keen to add to his 'collection' at some point

he's spent a lot of time learning how to handle them carefully and respectfully and sees them as little works of art more than pets

and he won't let anyone else touch them or handle them, because no one can be trusted with them

so there's an element of feeling towards them there, definite admiration of his little beasties

and he walked out with four terrapins and everything he'd need to give them the best little domestic life possible

they're weird but cute, and so small, but they bite

plus they are absolute catnip for partners

those terrapins have got his dick sucked more than he imagines a puppy would have

but aside from them being a magnet for potential partners, they are also his pride and joy

they're misunderstood, they have blame placed on them for things they didn't do (looking at you black plague)

they're the villains of every city, more so than the other pests

but they're geniuses, so clever, capable of intense emotions and acute reasoning

but to look at them, people are either scared or don't think twice

and that's how eddie has lived his life

so taking comfort in knowing that he's there with them, the other outcasts

two lonely creatures sharing in each others space, and their intelligence, and their sadness, and their inevitable entrapment

it's very on-brand for him

and he really did his research, trying to think about what would be the coolest to have

and which ones weren't already in use by other villains

because god forbid he look like some copycat hack

they're an exccellent threat, they're a wonderful water feature

and he genuinely has a lot of feelings towards them

plus the looming threat of having to clean their tank out keeps miss tuesday in line... kind of

also, he's found that people really like the way he rolls his "r" on pirrrrhana

plus he likes how his desk looks in front of it, the lighting really brings out his skin tone and how bright his eyes are

his desire for companionship and someone to chit chat with

something to stave off the loneliness, to satisfy the need for friendship

and more importantly, that won't leave him or abandon him any time soon

so, while it's not super unique, it is kind of uncommon

that he has a precious little african gray parrot waiting for him at home when he's been beaten up by children

or imprisoned by children

or mocked by children

there's someone waiting for him who depends on him

and he doesn't love anything more than his little bird friend

idk if anyone else does this but music is distracting for me when i do homework but i still need noise so i usually try to watch a show or movie thats somewhat related to the topic im studying at the moment. that way even when i take a little break i still feel like im engaged and keeping my mind on track. ex: when i took my forensics class i would keep csi vegas on in the background.

im having trouble finding anything that has to do with anthropology/archaeology thats actually interesting for this purpose. (the things that show up on netflix is stuff like ancient apocalypse which im not a fan of) what i have on currently is outer banks lol does anyone have recommendations?

‘Cold Case’ Reboot From Creator Meredith Stiehm Eyed By CBS

EXCLUSIVE: After bringing back CSI: Crime Scene Investigation with CSI: Vegas, CBS is looking to revive another Jerry Bruckheimer Television-produced crime procedural from the 2000s. The network is in negotiations with Warner Bros. TV for a reboot of Cold Case, which aired on CBS for seven seasons from 2003-2010, Deadline has learned. The followup comes from the series’ creator/executive producer Meredith Stiehm.

Set 15 years after the original series’ final episode, the untitled Cold Case reboot would follow a new team of tenacious detectives who investigate cold cases across the Southwest.

This is a new location as the original Cold Case was set in Philadelphia. The move would allow the potential new series to introduce a new group of characters as they tackle unsolved homicides.

Stiehm is writing the script. She is executive producing with JBTV’s Jerry Bruckheimer and KristieAnne Reed for WBTV and CBS Studios. Talks between CBS and WBTV have been going on for weeks, and sources stress that the two sides are not close to a deal. Reps for the network and the studios declined comment.

The original series follows Detective Lilly Rush (Kathryn Morris), a homicide detective with the Philadelphia Police Department specializing in cold cases, who was partnered for the majority of the show’s run with Detective Scotty Valens (Danny Pino).

No talent is currently attached to the reboot though I hear Pino has had informal conversations to reprise his fan favorite character Det. Scotty Valens, possibly in a significant way. I hear Morris has not been approached about the reboot but is aware of it and could potentially appear in some (likely limited) capacity to provide additional continuity, having led the original series for seven seasons.

Cold Case‘s main cast also included John Finn, Jeremy Ratchford, Thom Barry and Tracie Thoms.

Before proceeding with talent discussions, WBTV has to close a deal with CBS, which I hear had been a challenge. According to sources, the sticking points include some of the issues that the two sides faced during the renewal negotiations for WBTV’s then-freshman East New York last spring that reportedly contained a request from the network for additional streaming rights.

After months of back-and-forth, those talks fell through. The Cold Case reboot would mark the studio’s first drama sale to CBS since then as the two sides are trying to hammer out a new deal template. (The studio and network have an ongoing relationship on the comedy side through Chuck Lorre’s Big Bang Theory franchise which recently got another offshoot series, Georgie & Mandy, for next season.)

There is no particular rush as CBS’ 2024-25 slate is already stacked with three new drama series, Matlock, pushed due to strike-related delays, NCIS: Origins and Watson.

Since the end of Cold Case after 156 episodes, Stiehm worked as an executive producer on Showtime’s Emmy-winning drama Homeland and also co-developed and executive produced FX’s The Bridge, based on the Danish-Swedish format. She is repped by UTA and attorney Bruce Gellman.

In addition to CSI: Vegas, currently in its third season, JBTV has sophomore CBS drama series Fire Country, which has been renewed for a third season and is eying a potential Sheriff-centered spinoff. The company is repped by CAA.
