Warmup #17
Rating: G
Summary: Fox has enough of the Senate's bullshit, time to send anonymous letters of complaint!
~
Fox found himself putting down his datapad and reaching for the empty cup of caf for the third time. It hadn't been that long since he'd run out, but he hadn't gotten to send someone for fresh caf yet; didn't know whether Thread had caught on yet and restricted his caf permissions.
He stared mournfully into the cup, the last dredges of caf clinging to the bottom. Maybe he could get the tiniest bit of energy from-
The door slid open and he decided that was more interesting than his caf that had forsaken him.
There was a vod'ika in the doorway.
Fib saluted him, picture-perfect, then smiled. "I have the new comm scrambler for you." She held up a device. "We tested it rigorously and not even W can get into it."
Fox hummed. That did sound promising.
Fib put it on the one little desk that was free of datapads.
"When you go, can you get me some-"
Fib stopped his attempt at shoving the cup at him. "No can do." She sang. "Thread has banned you from caf."
Fox frowned. Of course they had. Evil kriffer. He would write a formal complaint to the medbay. Something about misappropriation of power.
Or he could write an anonymous formal complaint to the Chancellor's office, using the new comm scrambler. That sounded fun.
"Fib." She was already at the door but looked back at him. "Help me draft a letter of complaint."
Fib cautiously walked back, interest piqued. "To what department? CorSec?"
Fox blinked. They could write an anonymous formal letter of complaint to CorSec. Ka'ra knew those bastards needed an intervention before their incompetence hurt even more people.
"Yes." He decided. "And also to the Chancellor's office. And the senate guard. And-"
"I'll get Cherry, he likes that legalese."
Fox hummed. That might not be that bad an idea. He could start plotting against CorSec in the meantime. A list of their shortcomings would be a good starting point.
~
Fox looked up when the door slid open to admit his CMO. He was sitting on his shitty couch flanked by his two vod'ike and sending several government institutions straight to hell.
"Hey Thread!" Fib smiled at them.
Thread shook his head. "Fib, I sent you here to stop him from working."
"You didn't say that!" Fib protested. "And he's not working, we're writing letters of complaint to be published in an independent news portal."
Cherry nodded seriously. "We're making great progress exposing all the crimes."
Fox was so proud of them and only had a nod of agreement for Thread.

Warmup #26 - Coruscant Guard
Rating: G
Summary: Three Corries and their thoughts on the stars.
~~~
The night was clear, as nearly every night on the forsaken hellhole that was Coruscant. The weather machines worked tirelessly, ensuring clear skies. Breathable air. .. though that part was debatable.
It wasn't like the clear night sky had any benefit though, Coruscant was so bright not a single star could be seen.
Stone shook his head and drew the blinds shut. It wasn't worth it. Maybe he'd go out to stare at the sky another night.
For now, he'd just get some rest.
~~~
Xat leaned back as he stared up at the empty sky. He kept the memories of the hyperspace journey to Coruscant close to his heart. One of the only times he'd been able to see the stars. Even that one time was enough of a motivation to inspire him to draw them, often.
"Look at-"
"Satellite."
His twin crossed her arms. "How would you know, huh?" Fib jabbed him in the ribs and he quickly scooted away to escape her wrath.
"You could sing that song about the stars again, see if you coax any out of hiding with it." He suggested, and Fib stopped her pursuit of him.
"You've been reading too many holo novels, stars don't just appear because I sing."
"But have you tried it?"
Fib rolled her eyes. "Of course I did, back on Kamino." She frowned. "You know that."
Xat grinned. Then he had to flee.

Warmup #28 - Corries
Rating: G
Summary: Xat and Fib escort a clan of younglings to the zoo.
"And we'll get to see all the exhibits?"
It was an important question. Fib had checked over the entire zoo map in preparation and there were a lot of them. When Ciph had told her that their clan couldn't go on field trips anymore because of the security risks, she and her batchmate had immediately volunteered. They could protect Ciph's clan and take tons of pictures for their fellow Corries. It was a foolproof plan.
"With the plan I have devised, nothing should be able to stop us from seeing all the exhibits." The creche master assured them.
Plans did not hold up for long around Corries. Fib decided not to tell him that.
~
"We're going in disguises?" Ciph gasped. "I always wanted to do that!"
Fib nodded very seriously. It had been in the security briefing. They would pretend to be a school class since those visited the zoo regularly and no one would be paying any mind to them that way. It was a foolproof plan.
~
Fib tugged on the civvies she'd picked out for herself. Loose pants and a Corrie-red top. It wasn't cold enough for the cool jacket Paperclip had found for her and she hated the weather machine for that.
Xat spun to show off the short cape fixed to his shirt. "I could get used to this."
"I prefer my armour." Fib hummed and started to stash a vibro knife in her sleeve. "More protection."
Xat considered that for a moment. "Armour-weave vests would be cool. Protection and we don't have to lug our entire kit around."
Fib made a sound of agreement. It was true. And high quality armour-weave vests likely offered more protection than their plastoid shells. The Republic had definitely shared no expense. Ha.
~
"What are you most excited for?" Ciph asked, tugging on Fib's hand to lead her to the big map of the entire zoo. Jokes on them, she had done her research.
"I'd like to see the tookas that make sure the zoo says pest-free."
Ciph looked up at her, their eyes glittering in the sun. "They have those?!"
Fib grinned. "Yeah. They're not in any specific enclosure, but they should be around. They're very busy doing their jobs."
Xat walked up to them. "Animals with jobs?"
"Animals with jobs!" Ciph cheered.
Well, they had their objective set. Now they just had to make sure they met it.
~
"Where exactly could we find the tookas?" Xat asked, eyeing the map he had snatched from a cart.
Fib shrugged. "They don't have a designated area. We'll have to be lucky-"
"Tooka!" Ciph interrupted.
"Yes, like a tooka."
"No, tooka!"
Fib looked over.
A beautiful red-coated tooka was sitting in a patch of sunlight, taking a nap.
"They deserve a nap for working so hard." Ciph announced. "We shouldn't disturb them."
Fib agreed. She snapped a quick picture anyways, Fox would love it.
Mission successful.

Summary: Xat loves drawing. What he loves even more though, is easing the pain his fellow Corries have to go through by drawing for them. He leaves the drawings in the medbay, on bunks, for the shinies before their first patrol. And sometimes he sneaks into Commander Fox's office to leave them there.
