Continental Knitting

So I figure after I am done with the 2 knit projects I currently have in my bin of #wips, I will focus on learning continental knitting. Does anyone have any advice? Me being a crocheter aka hooker tends to affect my going back and forth and I have been told that continental knitting would be better for me.

Hello lovelies! Today, let's talk technique. There are multiple ways to knit. The two most common are English and Continental. My mum uses the former, I the latter. No, I didn't learn from my mum. Though she tried. Recently, I've been seeing more crochet pictures and videos around, as well as looking up some new-to-me stitches. And they all seemed to holding the hook oddly. Then, I watched #thetryguys video where they learn crochet and were instructed to hold the hook like a pencil. And realized why all the crochet media I'd come in contact with looked weird. They hold the hook like a pencil (picture 2). I hold chopsticks like that, not my hook. (My mum did teach me to crochet). So I went to dear old Google to find out if I've been crocheting wrong. The short answer is no. The longer answer is that I use the less common "knife hold," (picture 1). Which to those that know me, is quiet fitting. I tried the more popular hold today, and I don't get the appeal. It's much more awkward, for me anyways. Though I can appreciate learning it for tutorial videos. It's easier to see what's being done. Finished my first twist front headband. I’m super happy with how it turned out. Thanks @_claudetta_ for the great instructional video on @youtube. The project was super easy and a great intro to doing a simple cable twist. I used @lionbrandyarn Thick&Quick acrylic yarn.
