Rima Day uses thread, fabric, and paper to create artwork that is inspired by nature and the human body. Day studied fashion design both in her native city of Tokyo, Japan and later in New York City and worked as a freelance custom ballet costumer in New York City and Connecticut. Her skills as a fashion designer are evident in her beautifully hand-stitched artist’s book. This is our third post in honor of National Embroidery Month!

🕰 Throwback Thursday! 🏔 These lasts weeks, between birthday holidays in Sweden and dog-sitting Mia (my brother’s 4-legged baby) in Switzerland (with daily excursions of avg. 14 km! 😱), I haven’t produced much. 🧵 I have several embroideries and crochet portraits in the works, but nothing really shareable yet here. 🪡 So today I decided to post an old piece that I haven’t shared in this account before, and make a #throwbackthursday post. 🥰 This embroidery on tulle is the piece that told me that what I really love to make are portraits. 👉 I made this portrait as a class project for @kathrin_marchenko course.
