Embroidery

This was by far my favourite medium that I explored with this project. I had never tried bead embroidery before but I taught myself how to while doing this project. I was inspired by Andrea Zanatelli, a multimedia artist I have spoken about before. I wanted to create precious looking symbols that could be either worn as jewelry or displayed as artwork. I am delighted with the results of these.

The first one I did was the drop of blood. I did this while researching blood diamonds. It is meant to symbolise the value of blood of jewels. I would have preferred if the lines of my cross were more straight but the result is still good. I moved on to sequins when doing the sacred heart, however I found it easier to get my desired shape with the beads. The sequins take up more space though so they require less time.
