My story for the RK1700 BINGO EVENT 2023 ♡ Prompt: Stasis

Nines doesn't know what love is. But maybe, maybe Connor is the one who can make him understand it. The one who loves him for the very first time.

°•°•°•°•°• He feels one of the lieutenant's hands on his shoulder. Comfortingly, the older man's warmth seeps through the fabric of his jacket. In a sympathetic gesture, Hank gives his shoulder a quick squeeze. "He'll be all right. A little nap and he'll be as good as new. He's made it through the worst of it." A wry smile settles on the human's lips. In his eyes, however, Nines can still see the echoes of the fear Hank had gone through in the last few hours. The same kind of fear that Nines still feels inside himself. "I'm fully aware of that. I'm not worried," he says, and as if to convince himself that nothing has changed about the condition of his predecessor in the last few minutes, he reaches for Connor's hand. As soon as they touch, their skin deactivates. Nines closes his eyes, within seconds he is able to build up a connection to Connor's system. The tension in his body eases a little. Above him, Hank snorts in amusement. "Yeah, sure. You're not worried at all. Says the android whose LED is still running amok." Knowingly, Hank taps his own temple. " Whatever, I guess we should let him rest after all that bitching about the repair." Hank tries to sound relaxed. But they both know exactly how close it was. The repair took what felt like an eternity. Hours in which an unknown coldness spread inside Nine's. While Hank restlessly made one round after another across the waiting area, Nines had been frozen. He had never felt so useless, overwhelmed and lonely as he did in that moment.
