reminder that letting clinical zoanthropes exist is not "encouraging delusions"
We need a safe space to talk about our experiences. Some of us find comfort in the therian, otherkin, and alterhuman communities because our own community is very small.
It's okay to let people with psychotic disorders talk about their experiences. If you don't like that or it makes you uncomfortable, simply do not interact.
Our disorders don't just go away. We're stuck like this forever, so let us embrace ourselves in peace.

shout out to nonhumans who:
- have complex queer identities
- use contradicting queer labels
- push the boundaries of gender and sexuality
- use their species as their gender
- physically identify as nonhuman due to a mental condition
you are all awesome, and I love you

shout out to anyone whose disability gives them species euphoria in some way. to the hypermobile eldritch creatures whose bodies contort in ways past typical human ability, to mermaids in wheelchairs, to any creature who can't speak/only communicates vocally via sounds, to the autistics with heightened senses, to the horses who use crutches, to the schizophrenic wolves who hallucinate their paws and ears, to the ones dogs allergic to chocolate, to any and all in between.
(please feel free to tell me abt how your disability gives you species euphoria in the tags/replies! i would genuinely love to hear it :°])

My time interacting with the community after a long break has been wild. So many posts and individuals putting an emphasis on how we don’t actually think we are animals… I saw stuff like this back in the day, throwing each other under the bus to try and look better to humans. Sad to see it still going on. If you are a therian and you ‘know you’re human’ that’s nice for you. Your experience is not universal. I am a lion. I am not a human in any way The end

CALLING ALL WOLVES!
otherkin, therians, lycanthropes, doesnt matter what you are! if youre a wolf, please block celticmountainmists for your own sake. this is a porn blog that interacts with alterhuman blogs, seemingly only wolves, and ignores boundaries. they have followed me and liked my posts despite me being clear that i dont want porn blog interaction, reblogs from other alterhumans and wolf picture/gif/video blogs including a minor, and adds sexual commentary to posts with wolves. not furries or werewolves, actual wolves. i would suggest reporting them but i dont know if that would really do anything? but if having your alterhumanity sexualized doesnt sit right with you, please block and (obviously) dont harrass.
UPDATED THE URL SINCE THEY APPARENTLY DROPPED THE BLOG PART IN IT!

Hey guys, reminder to everyone that I don't just identify with the terms nonhuman and therian, I fully identify as a canine alongside my (sadly) physical human body.
I am a physical nonhuman. I am a dog.
And I'm tired of seeing hate towards physical nonhumans/alterhumans in our own community. Physical nonhumans, endels, shifters, and clinical zoanthropes are all an important and valid part of our community. Sure we may look like humans to you, but we are animals. We are not 'crazy' or 'mentally ill' because of this.
Everyone in the community is an animal in their own way and we all have to learn to respect that.

I'm tired of the rhetoric that's "physical shifters are dangerous !1!1!!1" when in reality, us physical shifters are just misunderstood.
Physical shifting is often the result of a psychotic disorder. We are not dangerous. We aren't going to harm you.
Claiming that us physical shifters are dangerous only feeds into the harmful stereotypes against schizophrenics and other psychotic disorders.
Do better.

I've only recently immersed into modern therian/alterhuman/nonhuman/etc community on tumblr (and in English-speaking community in general) and oh how does it confuse me
For years I've only been communicating with those who don't really draw lines between all those labels. I would love if someone helped me with choosing the right one, because I think using the wrong one may confuse others.
I usually feel the whole outline of my dog body roughly aligned with the pose my human body is in. It is always present, yet sometimes certain features become more prominent and these sensations interfere with my usual train of thoughts. Most of the times it's muzzle, hind paws, claws, cheek fur and mane.
Are those delusions? I don't know. Probably not. I think I had those when I was younger and was desperately trying to transform, lying in my bed and grabbing the sheets in pure angst of feeling the teeth, the fur, the bones aching, but then I looked in the mirror and cried, having all of my internal sensations of finally being in my true form crushed.
"Shift" is a word I use to describe sudden urges, cravings to do nonhuman things, like catching and eating a small animal, run and jump on all fours.
And I don't do quads, because they only intensify the disconnection between the body I feel and the body I feel stuck in. I want to transform, to have my bones be the right length, to move as I'm supposed to move, but I can't.
I've seen Nimona recently and loved it when she described the feeling as "it's like really want to sneeze, but can't". Hits real close.
I've always called myself a therian but it ?seems? that in last several years the definition of this word changed a lot. And "otherkin" feels weird because I am not dogkin, I am dog.
But when should one call themselves alterhuman, or nonhuman?..
I feel like nonhuman isn't really the label, because I am, unfortunately, human shaped, and the stuff that works for human brain and bodies works for me too.
And it seems to me that alterhuman is mostly used by humanoid creatures like fae, elves, etc?
So are there any other words that can be used as labels for such a creature? I feel somewhat drawn to the cynantrope label, but I can't claim to be one just like that. I think so. May be I am wrong.
Please correct me if I understand something wrong! These are genuine thoughts and questions, and I'm open to discussion and new experience.
