Sanctuary of Madonna della Corona, an impressive cliffside sanctuary, is a pilgrimage site in Italian municipality of Verona in Veneto, Italy.
Blog: https://artifactsmuseumhistory.blogspot.com/?m=1
Initially a Hermitage location in 12th Century CE, first church was built into the rock in 15th Century CE. From 1437 CE, small church and hermitage were linked to “Commenda of the Knights of Jerusalem”, later called “Rhodos Knights” and then “Order of Malta”.

The Mithril Archipelago, more colloquially known as the Pious Pools, refers to a cluster of islands to the southwest of Tetrahex an orn and some groon out from the shore. When seen from above, the island chain appears to form a large hand rising from the sea, with the ‘palm’ being the largest of eight.
Despite being collectively referred to as the Pious Pools, the most notable tide pools are largely clustered on the eastern side of the palm, index, and middle islands, while the largest natural springs are located on the thumb.
All of the islands in the archipelago are quite rocky, but the hotspot at the base of the thumb has historically produced a notable number of amphibious mecha and triple-changers with alt modes suitable for both the cliffside environment and the warm Mithril Sea.
Most locals live in the center and southeast portions of the palm closest to the thumb, though there are smaller fishing and tourism based areas on the index, middle, and ring fingers. The Pious Pools are well-known for the peculiar traditional architecture of the area, which comes from a mix of the islands originally being settled as a hermitage and simple practicality; most buildings and residences are tucked inside and built out of the natural caves formed by sea erosion over millions of years, or otherwise secured into the sheer cliffs in tiers!
If you wish to visit the ruins of the hermitage, the Little Temple (also known as the Conduit or the First Temple,) please be aware that there is an active and ongoing restoration project underway to restore the damage that occurred under the Functionist Mandate of Singularity. There is a priest in residence and dormitory space available to those devoted or simply curious. Liturgical services are held every orn at 08.45j and end of decacyle services at 17.15j/18.15j depending on the season.
The Iaconian Academy of Science and Medicine has recently reestablished the historical outreach campus of the Grand Archives in the curve between the middle and ring fingers with the help of Deltaran Hospital and Optimus Prime, who has taken up semi-permanent residence on the islands to assist with preservation and archeological efforts.
The tips of the index and middle fingers are recognized by Primal Authority as a preservation site and mechanimal sanctuary. Permits are required for hunting and fishing in the area.
The two islands that make up the smallest finger are generally considered to be uninhabitable, as the middle island and the spit of land that bridges it to the palm is flooded each day at high tide, and the last of the two has recently become the source of a great many strange sightings and ghost stories. Visitors are highly discouraged from lingering.

These geometric patterns are carved into a sandstone cliff at Blackstone Rock near Bewdley, Worcestershire. The hexafoil or daisy wheel is commonly seen as a "witch mark", an apotropaic symbol marked on buildings - and occasionally boats - to protect against sorcery.
This is often true but the symbol has been in use within many religious contexts since the Bronze Age. I have no idea who carved the patterns at Blackstone Rock or why, but it seems appropriate as the cliffside hermitage where monks lived in caves stands just across a nearby field.
The track along the river is well-worn, having served monks, pilgrims, boat crews and river people for a thousand years.

New Ghost of the Saltmarsh DnD campaign
Tumblr media
Originally from a semiaquatic tribe of omnivorous iguana-like lizardfolk who lived at the mouth of the Dunwater river. Bask was raised by monks at their cliffside monastery after they found her as the sole survivor of some mysterious tragedy that destroyed her whole tribe, being hidden in the truck of the largest cypress tree in the village.
Not knowing her name, but being familiar with lizardfolk ways due to frequent trade with her tribe, the monks named her Bask due to how often she laid in/meditated in the sun. They also strove to teach all they knew of her culture from memory and what bits of artifacts they were able to recover from the village.
Growing up with the monks was easy for Bask since her practical nature lent itself well to the monk's mindful and present teachings. She learned martial arts and of the energy that was in her and all things. While many emotions escaped her she learned so much from the monks and treasures the whole hermitage. After they turned 18 the monks suggested she and the other young monks venture out into the world to connect with the world and themselves.

Rules:  Always post the rules. Answer the questions and write 10 (or 11!) new ones. Tag 11 people and link them to the post. Tell the person who’s tagged you that you’ve answered their questions.
I recently reblogged a post about soundwave tattoos. What sound would you want a tattoo of?
There are so many options, but given my thesis work with bird research, a part of me would love to have a bunch of these of various bird calls. Plus some of those sounds are so much a sound of childhood (white-winged dove calls feel like summer to me, for example). If the tattoos can be longer than a few seconds too, the soothing sound of a thunderstorm would be awesome.
Tell me about your ideal sundae.
Vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, melted caramel, whipped cream, multiple cherries (one never feels like enough)
Build the perfect sandwich.
I’m not sure a perfect one, but my favorite one to order at Subway is Italian herb and cheese bread, tuna, Swiss cheese (or provolone), green pepper, black olives, and Ranch dressing, toasted. (Don’t ask me how I wound up at this combination, but it’s delicious.)
You’ve decided city living is no longer for you. You’re going to retreat into hermitage. Which do you pick: seaside cottage perched next to a rocky cliff, cottage in the woods that almost looks like it’s become part of the forest, a house on a farm/orchard/ranch, or a cabin in the mountains?
Ooh. I’d say cottage in the woods, but I do love the high ground too. A cliffside or mountain location with a view would be nice.
Describe yourself as a Disney villain.
Maybe someone who doesn’t seem like a threat at all, quiet and unassuming until the time The Turn happens and then being underestimated works in my favor. My villain song at The Turn would be a memorable Broadway-style dramatic ballad. (In this imaginary reality, I can belt. If it’s actually me being me, this will come out unintentionally comedic.)
Who is your favorite villain (and why)?
Scar in Lion King is always a classic. If we’re branching beyond Disney movies, include Teatime from Hogfather, Grand Admiral Thrawn in the Star Wars Expanded Universe, Scorpius/Harvey in Farscape...
What is your favorite flower?
I’m drawn to stargazer lilies because they have significance to our family and they’re just plain pretty. I also like snapdragons. They’re awesome.
You are a room. What is your color scheme?
...I have no idea. Uh, if it’s reflective of me, ecclectic, vibrant (possibly clashing) colors, very little central theme or reasoning beyond that it made me happy.
You are a wine/beer. What is your flavor profile?
These are hard questions! lol I don’t like beer or wine, so maybe I’ll just say sweet with an unexpected aftertaste?
What’s your favorite recipe?
The recipe for chocolate chip cookies on the back of the Nestle Tollhouse chocolate chips (semi-sweet) is a classic we made all the time when I was a kid and still my favorite cookies. I also do a pretty nice breaded chicken.
New Questions
1. What is your favorite breed/type of dog or (and?) cat?
2. If you could master one creative art medium, which would you want it to be?
3. What do you do to pass the time when you’re riding in the backseat on a car trip?
4. Which singer has your favorite voice?
5. Similarly, if you had to pick the voice of one animated character to be stuck with as your voice for the rest of your life, which would it be?
6. What other language(s) do you speak?
7. If you could have one exotic animal as a pet (and it would be healthy and the animal was happy and liked you too), what species would it be?
8. What is your favorite flavor of fruit juice?
9. What is your favorite type of technology that’s outdated/not made anymore/obsolete, one that you miss?
10. Which would you rather have (imagining you have the budget for either one), an apartment or a house?
Tagging: @funkelly, @araniaart, @katiecrenshaw, @cosmic-llin, @peytonofthevalley, @thegirlsinthefirehouse, @ainewrites, @notresponsibleforlostitems, @notsolittlegirlevenmorelost, @stezton, @stholtzmann, and anyone else who finds the questions fun or interesting!

Catholic deacon given job of hermit at 350-year-old cliffside retreat
Catholic deacon given job of hermit at 350-year-old cliffside retreat
A Catholic deacon has won a competition to live in one of central Europe’s last hermitages, beating 50 other applicants to occupy a 350-year-old cliffside cell above a small Austrian town. Stan Vanuytrecht, 58, responded to an advertisement placed by Fr Alois Moser, which asked for someone with a “connection to Christian belief” and “at peace with themselves”.

Places to see in ( La Gomera - Spain ) La Gomera, the second-smallest of the main islands in Spain’s Canary Island chain, is marked by craggy volcanic mountains crisscrossed with hiking trails. In higher altitudes, dense forests of ferns and moss-covered trees grow in the mists of Garajonay National Park. Toward the coast, the Valle Gran Rey canyon leads past the whitewashed cliffside village of La Calera and ends at black-sand Atlantic beaches. La Gomera is one of Spain's Canary Islands, located in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa. La Gomera is very mountainous and steeply sloping and rises to 1,487 metres (4,879 ft) at the island's highest peak, Alto de Garajonay. La Gomera shape is rather like an orange that has been cut in half and then split into segments, which has left deep ravines or barrancos between them. The festival of the Virgin of Guadalupe, patron saint of the island, is the Monday following the first Sunday of October. Every five years (most recently in 2013) is celebrated the Bajada de la Virgen de Guadalupe (the Bringing the Virgin) from her hermitage in Puntallana to the capital. Wanted: sociable hermit for Austrian cliffside retreat
Town of Saalfelden seeks replacement for its outgoing anchorite, who must be ‘at peace with themselves’ while dealing with a steady stream of tourists There are no neighbours and the views are stunning, and if you can live without heating, running water, electricity and internet, then why not apply for a job as a hermit? Such is the position that Saalfelden near Salzburg in Austria is seeking to fill, inhabiting alone one of central Europe’s last hermitages, built into a cliff above the town. “Since its creation 350 years ago, the Saalfelden hermitage was inhabited every year. But we don’t have a successor to the last hermit,” local priest Alois Moser told AFP.
