Ok I get the appeal of director Lexa/actress Clarke. But what about both of them are actresses, maybe Clarke is already well-known but lexa is just beginning ? And they play in a movie together and they have to play as a couple
I'm pretty sure there are a couple clexa co-stars fics out there 🤔
That being said.....
Lexa is a theater actor. She knows how to command a stage like no other and that is why she gets one of the lead parts on her first big break on the big screen with Clarke, industry veteran who has been doing TV and cinema since she was a little girl.
Clarke is the chilled kind of actress, go with the flow, very adaptable to changes mid-way through shoots while Lexa is ritualistic and precise and with a theater background she likes to get things right first time around. Needless to say that even with Clarke's efforts for them to get along they find themselves being far too different to really manage more than a quick hello before shooting. Despite it all, their characters have wonderful chemistry, a will they won't they trope and the movie ends with them just barely becoming a couple.
The characters gain a massive shipping following and the studio pressures Lexa and Clarke to at least pretend they don't hate each others guts during interviews but hard as they try, it becomes obvious they aren't to fond of each other, fans and the media blow it out of proportion, rumors of jealousy, loud fights and some even propose a short lived romance that ended badly that has them both roll their eyes when they read it.
It takes two years for the sequel to be announced and during those 2 years Lexa and Clarke ignore the other exists. Clarke goes through a very public break up after getting engaged rather quickly to another co-star, Finn, and having him cheat on her as paparazzi followed him. Lexa has gotten more roles and kept herself pretty busy for a personal life to the point of publicly saying she does not have the room for love in her life as it was a distraction she could not afford.
They both dread the thought of spending the next few months filming with one another, the memory of the bickering and passive aggressive comments already exhausting them.
But things are different this time around.
Now more experienced with the industry Lexa has stopped being so up tight about how things run and now actually spends time with the rest of the cast instead of closing herself away in her trailer. Clarke has grown and let go of the idea she must make everyone on set like her to the degree of being annoying - which includes not being a constant presence at the door of Lexa's trailer, trying to get her to come out.
They grow closer. They hang out outside of filming, sometimes venturing the streets for some dinner together and are lucky enough to have very little evidence of it other than the rare blurry picture of them where the internet tries to figure out if it's really them or not. Half way through filming they realize there is more there than just co-stars hanging out but Clarke is still processing her break up with Finn and even if Lexa is ready to throw her no love rule out the window she respects Clarke's choice. But that unresolved sexual tension and those stand by feelings sip through their acting and by the time trailers come out the fans are yelling and screaming about how the characters love is palpable and authentic.
They last until the premiere of the sequel. There's praise for them all around, their chemistry, their acting, their emotions and they feel high on it. Clarke initiates it. Their hotel rooms are right next to each other and both stand in front of it like they don't want the night to end. They're both sober, Lexa not letting Clarke drink as she developed a bit of a problem after Finn, so there is no alcohol to blame for the decision. It's desperate from the start, finally, finally being allowed more than the short kisses they shared on screen.
It's a secret supposed to last until the press tour of the movie is over to avoid any theories about them being a publicity stunt and interviews becoming a gossip fest about their love-life. They arrive separately at award ceremonies, Clarke in all her jovial charm, sometimes accompanied by her latest co-star, including Madi, the little girl who plays her daughter and that Clarke has become extremely protective of, knowing what is like to grow up in the spotlight. Lexa, with her glamour that makes her look like a timeless being, prefers to go alone and Clarke has to suppress a laugh over how much the cameras love her.
For the next few years they post to occasional photo together but to the untrained eye it just looks like co-stars turned friends hanging out. They enjoy the secrecy of it even if they don't try too extremely hard to hide it. It's a secret that only comes out when each posts a picture of their engagement rings with nothing but a tag to one another's page.

Nina would you ever write an clexa!truman show au, where Lexa is Truman and Clarke is sent to play her love interest but she actually falls for her and finds it harder and harder to not tell her the truth? Also; you know the producers that control tru’s life? That could be the “past commanders” ? Idk I’m spitballing but I think you’d write it BEAUTIFULLY
can you believe i’ve never watched it?? i’m a disaster when it comes to movies (i’m slowly trying to catch up on the classics, at least) and i think i’ve only heard about it in a youtube thing i was watching the other day.
but the trailer looks so good??? truman being the first baby adopted by a corporation screams nightblida being raised and trained to be commanders
