1992

Rough. That’s the word Slash would use to describe his life. The band, the tour… but most importantly him and Y/n.

Y/n had been touring extensively lately, and from what she’s told him, they were only coming back to LA to record their second record.

To recap a bit more, after the Clash of the Titans tour, they took a week off then were back on the road. But Slash had a lot to say about who she was touring with. The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

1991, December

“Are you serious?” Y/n said, disbelief written all over her face

“Yea. I am I don’t want you going on tour with him!” Slash yelled

Y/n exhaled, trying to calm herself down “Lower your fucken voice Slash” “I get why you wouldn’t want me around him” She said in the gentlest voice she could muster

“So if you get it then why are you going?” Slash asked

“Because Slash! I have to think about my band” Y/n said, “This is a great opportunity for us, i can’t just let it go cause you’re upset”

Slash shook his head and scoffed “I bet you just wanna go for him”

Y/n looked at him, her eyebrows raising “You’re fucken unbelievable” she said, offended.

After that argument, things have been going more and more downhill for the pair, they argued more, and saw each other less.

He was just so upset that he couldn’t have Y/n all to himself, all the time it was tour, tour, interview, photo shoot. Selfishly, he wished Y/n would just quit the music and spend her days attending him.

Slash knew that he was in the wrong for the way he felt, at the end of the day there had been countless of women he had left out in the cold cause he was ‘Putting his band first’.

Like the one he was sitting across from now.

“Comon Renee, just one more chance” Slash begged.

Slash had left Renee as soon as he got word that Y/n was back in LA, and he really liked her, he just didn’t like her more than Y/n.

But he was desperate, and lonely. And Renee was the only girl he could think of that could satisfy his needs. Renee didn’t have a band to worry about, so if Slash could get her to get back with him, he would be satisfied.

“I’ll only get back with you under one condition” The redheaded woman said, crossing her legs “You marry me”

Marry? Slash repeated in his head, blinking slowly after hearing her request (Yes, he was very high).

“Marry?” He asked

Renee pursed her lips “Yup”

“Fine” He said all too quickly, his eyes bulging after he had realized what he said, but he was unable to take it back. Renee already pressed her lips against his, and he just gave in.

‵   hey, shortpants ! i heard it's your birthday ...  ʹ he tries to be nonchalant about it but his clammy hands beg to differ, shifting in it's midst a tiny carved wooden robin he'd worked hard on from the moment he'd snooped into his file and found out his date of birth. the truth of it was that the titans were the first instance roy had found friendship since he'd left the reservation, and despite his often turbulent and, at times, violent clashes with their leader ⸺ he had to admit that he had become closest to dick in spite of their ample differences. ( and their even greater similarities, though they'd both prefer to ignore the existence of any ) ‵   here. i had this lying around from when i was crafting arrows and got distracted. it reminded me of you, so i guess y'should have it. ʹ he presses the wooden figure into his chest, pivoting quickly as he makes a hasty escape, chin tucked down to hide his reddening cheeks.

dick was just about done for the day. he'd trained, finished his notes on their last mission, and even started prepping for their next one, but there was only so much 'stalling' he could do before it just became wasting time. by now, alfred was surely finished with the 'dinner' (read: 'surprise' party with alfred, bruce and probably clark) and he wouldn't have to politely hide in the cave for an hour now. he's heading to his room, to grab some of the things he wanted to bring home this weekend when he hears the call. surprise teases at his features as he really hadn't expected anyone else to be at the base today, and maybe most of all, not SPEEDY. they called him neurotic but dick thought checking the logs to see who was coming in & who had taken off to just be good practice. his eyebrows crinkle a bit because he surely didn't expect him to have 'heard' it was his birthday, considering how close to the vest bruce plays every card. even still, even not knowing the real source of his findings: he doesn't question it. in fact, the thought warms him, mostly, because adverse as they were to admit it, it confirmed what they'd figured out some time ago now: roy was his friend. a good one, even, and the idea he'd put thought into finding and getting something for dick on his confidential birthday unfurled the tight coil ever present in his stomach to something . . . nicer. " oh. " he says, mind unable to work as fast as he would've liked. when the object touches his palms, he gets to open it, bringing it closer to his face to inspect what he now recognizes as . . . A ROBIN. oh. it's near exact the ones dick used to see back when he toured the world with haly's, and it's got these little notches and grooves where dick can see an expert set of archer's hand had to have hand-crafted them. by the time his awe wears off a bit and his face is not pressed so closely to the intricacies of the design, his gaze only falls on the back of the archer's head. neck red, he imagines from exertion and whatever it was that had him in such a time crunch that dick barely has time to shout " thanks, speedy! " before he's turned the corner and out of sight. dick suppresses a grin at that, because for all that roy 'found it lying around', the craftsmanship spoke to something much different. with a smile on his face and a new lightness to his steps, he finally enters his room --- gently placing his new robin on the most prominent shelf. all in all, a pretty great birthday.

 Alice in Chains was the supporting act for the tri-headlined Clash of the Titans Tour featuring Slayer, Megadeath, and Anthrax. This was the second leg, the first being a European tour supported by Testament and Suicidal Tendencies.

Alice in Chains was not originally met with cheering fans and friendly greetings, unfortunately. According to Sean Kinney, “Slayer fans were impatient, to say the least, with Alice’s deliberate, Complex arrangements, hurling verbal abuse and-in one instance-jugs of Kool-Aid at the group…That was one of our finest shows.” says Kinney, in an interview with Request’s Daina Darzin

Originally, Alice in Chains was not on the bill for the North American tour. According to Get Thrashed, the 2006 Thrash Metal Documentary, Death Angel was to be the supporting act instead. However, after a near-death bus crash, they were forced to pass on the gig; opening up the space for Alice to promote their first studio album, Facelift.
