Lissa starts hanging out with Gaius and Maribelle starts complaining to Chrom about it because that is her beautiful and delightful best friend and Gaius can't have her. And Chrom's like, "that's my little sister he can't date her that's illegal I think"

Meanwhile Lissa sees Maribelle hanging out with her brother and she's like "no. No, Maribelle can't like Chrom, he's CHROM. No. Not a thing." And Gaius is like "idk I'd smash" and she's like "gross"

So both duos think that bthe other two are secretly dating but really there's mutual pining on both ends.

Maribelle's not going to let some ruffian marry her cute best friend, she called dibs already, and Gaius is like "Chrom hot, gave me the candy his sister gave him"

FE Awakening Modern Detective/Bakery AU

Focuses on my two favorites Chrom and Gaius (who need more content)

An idea I was sitting on for a while, then suddenly a lot of things started coming together as I was working on my Final Fantasy Dissidia FBI!AU

Chrom:

Eldest son of the most influential family in Ylisse (a city/town).

Highly respected alongside his sisters Emmeryn and Lissa. Practically royalty really. 

He is also a high ranking detective who has been put in charge of looking into a series of criminal acts committed by a group that goes by the name of Grimleal as well as a prolific thief that has been stealing from the rich constantly. They’ve never been caught, seen, no one even knows their name. But Chrom assumes that the thief and the Grimleal may be connected.  

Is married to his wife Olivia and has two children Lucina (12) and Inigo (9). 

The shepherds are all part of the detective organization

Gaius

A baker by day, a professional thief by night.

He specializes in all the parts of the black market and is well known there under the alias Guire. Mostly steals from the rich but gives to the poor which is why he’s a rather famous thief and no one has ever ratted him if they’ve seen him. 

Those who frown upon his “chivalrous” thievery don’t say anything because he is actually good at what he does.

Also occasionally tasked assassination plots, but they’re few and far between and he rarely takes them without the right price or reason.

Runs a bakery called Sticky Fingers and it’s quite popular. 

Best friends with Libra and quite good friends with Lon’qu even if Lon’qu never admits it.

Libra is aware of his... side hustle, but that doesn’t mean he condones it. He just knows Gaius won’t listen to him if he tried to stop him, and he has tried. But he doesn’t want to see him in jail. Also, heals some of his wounds if he comes back with them.

Chrom meets Gaius at the bakery Sticky Fingers after being recommended to it by Lissa who has gone there a few times with Sumia. Chrom wants to get a nice custom made cake for Inigo’s 9th birthday.

Gaius of course delivers and the family begins to fall in love with the bakery so they go there more often for events. Gaius finds out the unfortunate news that Chrom is married when the latter requests an anniversary cake for his wife. 

This is a Chromgai fic, but it’s a series of terrible, terrible (angsty) circumstances that lead to that. Shit goes down and bad things happen. It’s a real, real, slow burn.  

I liked the idea of Lucina and Inigo being siblings and then Papa Gaius is there too. 

Olivia and Chrom have known each other for a long time before they got married (none of this “three months after meeting they get married” jazz). 

Maybe I’ll write more of this idea out later. And include other characters and how they fit into it more like Robin, Libra, etc, and the dynamic of characters or something. Let me know if I should write more.
