Happy Valentine's Day, Queliot!

Chapter 3 of you want it darker? || dark king eliot is now live! As a Queliot gift for Valentine's Day!

This chapter does still focus on Eliot's grief, and Quentin's still technically dead (but not really/permanently?). But, as dark and angsty as this story can be, there's a strong emphasis on the Queliot love story. It feels essential to me. Hopefully you’ll agree! Big 🍑❤️ to all of you today (Happy Valentine’s Day, no matter when you read this!) (Yes, today this fic finally earns its E-rating!)

Summary for Chapter 3 specifically:

Eliot sees glimpses of Quentin everywhere. Hears his voice. Feels his phantom touch.

He knows it's really Q. And that no one will believe him. Telling Margo or Julia will only make them worry more.

Meanwhile, attempts to bring Quentin back continue to fail. Will a visit with an old friend help turn things around?

21. “You were held to my flames and came out stronger. How could I not adore you for that?” - Queliot pleaseeee. Still recovering from season 4 finale

A/N: Oh my god, same. I can’t even hear Take on Me anymore without wanting to bawl my eyes out. But anyway, here you go! Some Queliot fluff to get us started, maybe? Yes. Maybe a little fix-it? Sure. Let’s give it a try. I’ll admit, not my best but hey, it’s my first time writing a little fanfic

Eliot made a promise to himself when he was possessed by the monster. He found his happy place, and watch his deepest regret play out in front of him like a play. It wasn’t his father, no. His father was his deepest fear. Letting go of Quentin, after having 50 years together, real or not, they had proof. Proof that they worked, and he ran away. He wasn’t brave enough then to say yes. But he was now.

He made a promise to be brave, for Quentin’s acts made him so. He needed to be brave for him. Before it was too late.

And it almost was. Eliot was stuck in a bed the moment the monster was taken out of him. Stuck in recovery, he couldn’t help the others make a plan on ridding them of the monster and his sister. But he was up in a heartbeat when he heard that Q was back. That he almost did something bad. Almost sacrificed himself for the sake of everyone else. No. That wasn’t okay. That was the final push Eliot needed to get off his ass.

“Eliot..” Quentin breathed out in surprise, sucking in a breath as his friend walked into the room. Well, limped into the room. Holding himself up with a cane that was given to him. “You shouldn’t be up yet. What are you doing?” He rushed into action then, pulling Eliot to the couch to sit down.

“I needed to see you. Q, you idiot… What were you thinking?” Eliot whispered out, turning his body to face the man he denied. But no more.

“That the world would be saver with the monster gone, no matter what the price,” Quentin admitted, not finding it in himself to hide from the man.

“Not at the price of you, Q.” Eliot shook his head quickly, leaning forward to look him in the eye. “Not at the price of you. You’re lucky Alice broke free of Penny’s hold to push that librarian into the mirror and pulled you back.” Quentin let out a small laugh at that, sighing afterward.

“Yeah.. she’s furious with me. Before.. before then, we talked and agreed to give us another try. But now.” Quentin trailed off, shaking his head.

“Now?” Eliot sucked in a breath, watching him. That was it. The moment. If they weren’t together again, maybe he still had a chance.

“My only priority was you, Eliot. Getting the monster out of you. Saving you. I didn’t care what happened to me. All I ever cared about was protecting you.” Quentin whispered out, putting all of his emotions in his words as he turned his head. The last time he did that, he was rejected. And after being rejected by Alice, agreeing to stay friends, he didn’t know if he could handle another one. Again.

“Q.. you stupid boy. You were held to my flames and came out stronger. How could I not adore you for that?” Eliot cited with a shake of his head, watching as Quentin turned to look at him in shocked-confusion.

“We lived a lifetime together. You know me just as much as Bambi does, maybe more. I did the stupid thing to protect you by attacking the monster, getting myself possessed. And even then, you stood by me. You took whatever beating the monster threw at you-”

“That wasn’t you. No one blames you, El.” Quentin was quick to interrupt, biting his lip when Eliot shook his head.

“It was still my face. But even before the monster, with every stupid decision I made, you stood by me. My flame burned you once, and you still stayed. I vowed to myself I would make it up to you.”

“What are you talking about? What’s your flame?” Q was so confused, watching him.

“My deepest regret. Letting you go.” Eliot watched as the boy sucked in a breath. Finally, he was understanding. “In my happy place, to take over my body for even a moment, I had to face my deepest regret. Rejecting you. I promised myself if I was freed, I would make it right. I’d be brave. For the man I adore most. You. The bravest man I have ever met. And what you just went through… you are also the strongest.”

“El…” Quentin was losing his will to speak, not knowing what to say. Once, this is what he wanted. To give it a try. And now it was here. The man was ready.

“Just say yes if it’s not too late,” Eliot whispered, bending his head down to the shorter man, pressing his lips together tightly as he waited. And waited, but only for a beat.

“Yes.” Quentin breathed out, and like memory, his eyes closed when soft lips touched his own. A hand going to the side of his neck, curling into his short hair. It felt like before. It felt like home.

Finally, Eliot found his home again. In the soft hair, pale lips, and nerdy Quentin. His hero, his heart. His home.
