i chose to pick two songs here bc i’m in a mood to talk about the ocs, so tyvm for the ask!!

song 1: bad moon rising, mourning ritual / youtube link

reminds me of: honestly i relate this to twd since it comes from there lmao, but also can very, very easily relate it to my whole wip of fate’s protégés!! ‘bad moon’ as a concept easily refers to the prophecy moons that signify a bad time for zira and llevan, while the ominously warning mood of the song fit the eventual unhappy ending of this prequel very well!! because i daydream far too much, i can see this as an animatic in my head [that maybe one day i’ll make if i ever find the motivation to!] and it fits the heavy, gritty mood of fate’s protégés very well!

song 2: blue lips, regina spektor / youtube link

reminds me of: :’)) this song reminds me heavily of fate’s protégés’ zira, who quite literally gets the fate of the kingdom shoved on his shoulder halfway through the book. it’s such a burden to carry and eventually takes its toll on him, in the worst sort of way (no spoilers here!) but the whole repetition of “he stumbled into grace and thought ‘god is this all there is?’ is VERY fitting for him. and he quite literally gets blue lips and veins and blood with his powers, so all in all? incredibly fitting and incredibly sad.

reminds me of: this reminds me so, so much of erzse from pre-fate’s protege! the whole song to me holds a sense of longing and loneliness and growth, and these are all things erzse endures. she’s incredibly lonely before the events of fate’s protege, with only really her brother and horse to talk to, and though she tries very hard to make friends, it doesn’t ever seem to work out that way. she’s looking for a connection in the friends she has that she lacks with them all, and it hits her hard. nonetheless, she tries her best not to let it weigh on her, and continues life as normal without letting it bother her too much, and goes out of her way to make herself lonely on purpose. this all changes in fate’s proteges when she grows closer to zira, llevan, riles and eventually domini, but this is very pre-fp erze!!
