Interview: Catherine Talbot
Dossier:
Name: Catherine Talbot
Age: 58
Species: Werewolf
Circle: Night
Known Relationships: Connor Talbot I ( Husband ), Connor Talbot II & Clifford Talbot ( Sons ), Lilith Gaumond ( Mother-in-Law ), Esmeray Talbot ( Daughter-in-Law ), Cameron Kiskadden ( Former Brother-in-Law )
Interview:
What's your name?
“Help me with these groceries, baby,” the she-wolf says, words falling somewhere between a command and a request though it’d be impossible to decipher. “You don’t need my full name do you? The whole thing doesn’t really roll off the tongue if I say the first, middle and last. Catherine Talbot though— can you believe this guy put the eggs at the bottom?”
How do you know Tabitha Spencer?
“Tabitha Spencer,” she muses to herself, trying to recall as much as she was able from the night, “I might have had some light conversation with her, asked me to call her Tibby and I sat there wondering why when Tabby was right there. Anyhow, I couldn’t tell you much more besides that. She’s a bitten, you can tell, but not one of ours.”
How do you know Jose Alves Cruz?
Setting another bag aside, Cathy moves to the fridge, opening it and moving around its contents to better accommodate everything she’d bought on her grocery run. “Mayor of the unassuming majority. A thrall. A widow. Very much a politician,” she lists off, knowing nothing more than the very basics of a man who was all too inconsequential to her. Jose could have been beneficial if they were any other family, but the Talbots didn’t need the mayor in their pocket to exert their own control over Las Vegas; they preceded him and anyone else that would replace him thereafter. “The usual, I’d say.”
How do you know Hollis Fiala?
“The Wild Circle’s leader; they got shot that night, right?” For Cathy and the rest of them, it was in their best interest to know who was in power, whether that was directly above them or adjacently. Anyone of those people had a chance of becoming Orator though the Talbots could be expert lobbyists if they needed to be. A campaign funded by dirty money was a campaign still. “They’re heir to the Fae throne, I used to see them around Fenrir sometimes...talking to you.”
Did you see the shot/what happened that night from your perspective?
Cathy lifts a hand to her ear, rubbing at the area, “I heard it, both of them. The first one was a little weird though, missing all the bits and pieces of a gunshot.” And she’d heard a few in her youth. “It hurt just the same though. Nothing like a close-range gunshot to make the ears tender...so you’ve got two shots, everyone running around like idiots and Rosie— you remember Rosie? She starts turning, and that itself becomes priority number one. Next thing you know, we’ve got thousands of dollars in property damage on our hands— Connor, you know that’s not where I put the spices, it’s one over.”
When did you get the invitation for the party/know you were going to work it?
“It came in the mail, same as it always does. One of those things you pretend you’re unsure of attending, but it’s been marked in your calendar as a no-zone for any other events because the invitation comes like clockwork.” Nothing else about it. Events like these are par for the course with these positions of power; your husband becomes pack leader and more than ever, all those date nights turn into events like this. “Take notes for your future. Go on as many dates with your wife now, before you’re so booked your planner starts looking like a catering calendar,” she lets slip, words spoken without much thought as this conversation lulls her into some sense of normalcy.
Did you go with someone?
“Is this a serious question?” If it is or it isn’t, is of no consequence, it stops Catherine’s movements nonetheless. “Just for whoever else you’re interviewing, Connor, don’t ask a married wolf whom you know is married, if they attended such an event with some random someone. I went with my husband, your father, only man I’ll ever love, etc etc, I’m sure you would understand had I asked you if you went to your own party with someone.” And she doesn’t mean for those words to sound harsh but she’s only ever been caustic; abrasive even. “Something to think about.”
Do you own a gun/have you ever owned a gun?
“You know, I’d thought of it once, before I started dating your dad...didn’t live in the nicest area, but your grandmother thought guns made a wolf soft, docile. Why would you ever rely on a gun when Artemis gave you everything you’d ever need to defend yourself? She thought it was weakness or blasphemy and instead of letting any of us disrespect Artemis’ gifts like that, Elara Hemming taught me ten ways to kill a man with your teeth. So no, I’ve never owned a gun. There isn’t a single weapon in this house save its inhabitants.”

I love it when historians go "we need to take this relationship as seriously as this other relationship" before seguing into how the other relationship is totally fake and made up and perpetuated by hack historians.

The Myth of Catherine Middleton: Mary Boleyn
Originally written by Meg McGath, 30 May 2011 PHOTO: MAX MUMBY/INDIGO/GETTY IMAGES Before their wedding in 2011, there were several articles for the ancestry of Catherine Middleton, now HRH Princess of Wales. This claim—from the DailyMail (complete with a tree!)—is that Middleton is a descendant of Mary Boleyn, sister to Queen Anne, through Boleyn’s granddaughter, Elizabeth Knollys, who’s…

Following their visit they also spent time greeting the locals who had gathered outside.

The Princess of Wales’ Stats - First Quarter
In the first three months of 2023, the Princess of Wales completed 35 engagements, averaging around 11.6 engagements a month. Her work rate was fairly steady, completing 12 engagements in both January and February and 11 in March. She also appeared in four released photos, videos, or statements in both January and March, while she did so 7 times in February - many of which were linked to the launch of her Shaping Us campaign. In January, Catherine was spotted four times. As well as this, four unusual photos of Catherine have appeared during this quarter - a photo of the Wales family at Winter Wonderland (taken in December) surfaced on January 1st, while a photo of Catherine from Halloween 2022 was released by an acquaintane a few days later. Similarly, two wedding photographs appeared - one from the wedding of Catherine's step-sister-in-law Laura Lopes and one from her brother James Middleton - both appearing to show Catherine in the background. All three months have been fairly quiet for the Princess of Wales.
Of her 27 patronages, she has visited or completed work for 5, totalling 18 engagements in total. In January, Catherine completed nine engagements on behalf of her patronages. 8 of those were for the Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales, while the other was for the Rugby Football League. In February, two of Catherine's six patronage related engagements were for the Royal Foundation, while she also completed one apiece for the Rugby Football Union, The Irish Guards, Polar Preet's Polar Mission, and the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. In March, four of her engagements were related to the Royal Foundation, while two more were related to The Irish Guards.
Of her 35 engagements, 16 have been solo while another 16 were when she was accompanied by her husband, the Prince of Wales. Two engagements took place with the Crown Prince and Princess of Norway, while Catherine also undertook one engagement with the wider British Royal Family - Commonwealth Observation Day.
All of her engagements have taken place in the UK, in England (31) and Wales (4). More specifically, 15* of her engagements took place in Windsor, the first time her most common UK-based engagement site has not been London. She also halso undertaken 5 engagements in London, 2 in Leeds and 2 in Cornwall. She also undertook engagements in Liverpool, Birkenhead, Luton, Surrey, Derby, Slough, Cardiff, Salisbury, Llanelli, Port Talbot, and Rhondda Cynon Taf. NOTE: A number of her engagements were meetings and could have taken place in either London or Windsor. A number of the Princess of Wales’ meetings were confirmed to take place in Windsor Castle, I will be counting these as taking place there until informed otherwise.
With the launch of the next phase of her Early Years Campaign - the Shaping Us campaign - many of her engagements have linked to the Early Years, with fourteen engagements falling in that area specifically, with another one engagement linked to mental health and one further related to children and young people. 4 of her engagements have linked to both the military and sport, while 3 engagements have been focused on diplomatic natures. Two engagements were on the theme of culture. She also undertook one engagement specifically linked to the outdoors, as well as one linked to the Commonwealth. Four of her engagements did not fit into the theme headings I have created.
Clotheswise, her most worn identified designer has once again been Alexander McQueen, followed by Burberry, LK Bennett and Roland Mouret, although she has worn sixunidentifed looks. Her most carried bag designer was Mulberry, followed by Emmy London. Her most-worn shoe designer is, again, Gianvito Rossi, althought she has worn her Blundstone shoes four times. In terms of jewellery, she has predominantly worn Shyla London pieces, although 8 of her accessories have been unidentified. or pieces inherited from the late Princess of Wales (with 5 wears each), She has also worn items from Daniella Draper and Spells of Love with 3 wears each. When it comes to hats, Catherine was seen in five hats, each made by a different milliner/brand - Inverni, Juliette Botterill, N Peal, Sean Barratt, and Jane Taylor.

Leslie Howard and Norma Shearer in Romeo and Juliet (George Cukor, 1936)
Cast: Norma Shearer, Leslie Howard, John Barrymore, Edna May Oliver, Basil Rathbone, C. Aubrey Smith, Andy Devine, Conway Tearle, Ralph Forbes, Henry Kolker. Screenplay: Talbot Jennings, based on a play by William Shakespeare. Cinematography: William H. Daniels. Art direction: Cedric Gibbons, Frederic Hope, Oliver Messel, Edwin B. Willis. Film editing: Margaret Booth. Music: Herbert Stothart.
If Shakespeare's Juliet could be played, as it was in its first performances, by a boy, then why shouldn't she be played by 34-year-old Norma Shearer? Truth be told, I don't find Shearer's performance that bad: She lightens her voice effectively and her girlish manner never gets too coy. It also helps that William H. Daniels photographs her through filters that soften the signs of aging: She looks maybe five years younger than her actual age, if not the 20 years younger that the play's Juliet is supposed to be. I'm more bothered by the balding 43-year-old Leslie Howard as her Romeo, though he had the theatrical training that makes the verse sound convincing in his delivery. And then there's the 54-year-old John Barrymore as Mercutio, who could be Romeo's fey uncle but not his contemporary. In fact, Barrymore's over-the-top performance almost makes this version of the play a must-see -- we miss him more than we do most Mercutios after his death. Edna May Oliver's turn as Juliet's Nurse is enjoyable, if a bit of a surprise: She usually played eccentric spinsters like Aunt Betsy Trotwood in David Copperfield (George Cukor, 1935) or sour dowagers like Lady Catherine de Bourgh in Pride and Prejudice (Robert Z. Leonard, 1940). In the play, the Nurse rarely speaks without risqué double-entendres, but most of them have been cut in Talbot Jennings's adaptation, thus avoiding the ridiculous spectacle of Shakespeare being subjected to the Production Code censors. (Somehow the studio managed to slip in Mercutio's line, "the bawdy hand of the dial is now upon the prick of noon.") Some of the other pleasures of the film are camp ones, such as Agnes deMille's choreography for the ball, along with the costume designs by Oliver Messel and Adrian, which evoke early 20th-century illustrators like Walter Crane or Maxfield Parrish. No, this Romeo and Juliet won't do, except as a representation of how Shakespeare's play was seen at a particular time and place: a Hollywood film studio in the heyday of the star system. In that respect, it's invaluable.
