Grief.
It was grief that drove The Monitor and my creator to insanity, and it was grief that drove Jewelcutter to rain hell on his own world. It was grief that created Nameless. It was grief that caused The Reversed to go missing.
There are many reasons, in the end, but it's common. Arceus and Giratina are bound to tragedy, no matter who they are.
Mortals put a lot of faith in Arceus, anyhow. Even The Monitor isn't Almighty, she's just timeless.
