It hurt in the beginning, but it hurt much MUCH more later on. You aren't even really aware that things are happening to you. They are subtle like that. After all, They have had the chance to prefect this process down to almost the second of becoming like Them.
Unfortunately, the perfected method is very painful. You feel it in your bones. Just a dull ache that makes you think of growing pains as a child. Something that once was easy to do; no longer works for how your body is structured (like climbing a tree or how when you used to cry, it would always be with tears that made your face too hot).
The shift from bones to being in your muscles would seemingly happen over night. Tendons feeling too rubbery and bendable and cartilage always became brittle. The nosebleeds became normal, and you are reassured that it is normal. (After all, it is to them.)
Eventually, it buzzes under your skin. Sometimes it feels like a phone vibrating under anywhere that might have blood, but then others it's impossible not to think of their being insects just under the first layer. (There are no bugs in the End. You know that. At least, you haven't seen any Endermites...) You hear it in your ear drums. Your teeth rattle ever so slightly in a way that makes your jaw hurt. The perpetual motion makes stomachs easier to upset and falling asleep almost impossible.
But eventually, after sitting too long in discomfort, you find out the meaning of these sorenesses. It is so much easier to mold something if it has been made pliable. They desire to bend, to snap, to stretch you as far as you'll go and then go farther.
Watchers are massive things in their fullness. Large and hulking creatures that can blot out the sun at their full hight. But one simply does get to being that size naturally. No, they had to be pulled up; spines and fingers being elongated, arms and legs extending out, and smiles made even wider to show more teeth.
The smile is why Grian doesn't ever bother having one shown. He hates to remember hooks pulling at his cheeks.
-Phantom
The way you go from DMing me to put him in a microwave, to this, is always fascinating, really, a littol gift to me 🫶
I think the Watcher holds his hair back when he’s sick, or gently rubs his back when he’s sore, even though it’s their fault he’s like this!!

the most IMPORTANT tmmn alien lore from the new ep was the earrings. no not the story behind them or the power. the SHAPE. look at the shape of the clasp. look at the placement on the ears.
the aliens don't have earlobes. or at least not ones that are pronounced enough to notice or commonly pierce? (I mean, cartilage CAN be pierced obviously, but it's a bit more painful than lobe piercings, and considering these were at the lil vendor booth, I assume they're the popular style?)
...they use clip ons. the aliens use clip ons!!! that are clipped around the lower/middle part of the ear!! not the bottom! so these earrings are actualllllly: ear CUFFS!!! which are an actual thing that exist you can get. it makes perfect sense for the aliens to use these, because they're meant to wrap around the cartilage of your ear without needing an actual piercing, and their ear faces down, rather than sideways like our Human Ears do! so! they'll stay on easier with just a cuff!!
see, same ball clasps to hold them in place as above!
so. hear me out...I bet if they like earrings but piercing isn't common, and cuffs are the Style, that they'd LOVE wrap around cuff earrings like these!!!
(x) (x) (x)
Also...all of Madeline's dolls/plushies/figures had ears. ears are clearly like, a Defining thing for the aliens within their own culture. So for fanfic concepts...earrings!!! as courting items!!! or in the place of wedding rings!!! Would love to see these concepts 👀

Do Machete’s ears have triangles cut out of them? Or is that a natural thing sorry if this is a stupid question or has been answered before
They have pieces cut out of them. He doesn't have them in any of the pictures where he's under 20.
I think I have an explanation for them but it's not that important. He doesn't talk about them in story setting.

surprise!
from 6 ear piercings to 8! ✨ (first pic is a before and the other two pics are an after with my new piercings)
something I’ve been promising myself for years (some of my long term mutuals may remember me mentioning this) is that once I passed my NAVLE, then I would treat myself to new piercings! I had 6 piercings- 2 sets of lobe piercings on each ear and 2 cartilage piercings on my left ear. other then my original lobe piercings (which I got when I was like 11), each set since then has marked something important in my life. I got my second set of lobe piercings on my 21st birthday. then I got my 2 cartilage piercings on my left ear when I got accepted into vet school. during my first year of vet school, I made a promise to myself that I would only get another piercing that I had been dreaming of when I passed my NAVLE. of course, as y’all know, I failed the NAVLE on the first attempt and postponed my piercing plans. but that’s okay because I studied hard, and this week I passed the NAVLE on my second attempt and I graduate vet school next week! with the passing score and my graduation just 5 days away (where I can officially call myself a DVM), I decided it was finally time to treat myself! I now have 8 ear piercings and I’m obsessed with them!
tl;dr- I passed my NAVLE and treated myself to new ear piercings, and I’m in love with how it looks! 💖💎
