what i think badger hockey players are like irl
these are my impressions of the guys, i do not know if they are like this irl. please do not send hate to the guys or me, i’m just sharing my opinions because my friend thought they were hilarious
also, ik this isn’t the whole team, these are just the guys i felt like i could form an opinion on lol
de st phalle is a frat boy through and through, drunk every weekend type but super smart and does really well in school
urds is a golden retriever who also loves to party and definitely gets the girls but is a family guy and will always put them first
shay is a man whore and probably not super book smart, i don’t think i need to explain those
brock is the sweetest man to grace this earth but also kinda shy
moe is probably an ass, i’m also judging off of his mustache so
tyson is an impressionable guy who does whatever anyone else wants to do, and has go with the flow vibes. he is definitely shy and keeps to himself, introvert with extrovert tendencies around people he knows and trusts
dom is like the dad, not just because he is the captain
cruz is living his best college life like he got a fake 3 days after moving in (not that he needs one, kk will let him in no matter what), goes out to bars and parties and tries to impress the girls. lowkey lives in his brothers shadow and always strives to outshine him
lamaster is definitely super quiet and shy but when you get some alcohol in him you wouldn’t be able to shut him up otherwise is super sweet with slight temper issues, but overall one of the funniest guys you’ll ever meet
malmquist is always up for a good time, bffs with dan, has all the good qualities you want in a guy
bantle i feel like would be one of the sweetest guys ever and is genuinely a good guy
lindmark is sweet and fratty but not douchey and just be so nice and dependable like he’s the guy people call when they are drunk and need a ride home, aka the responsible one
gorniak def has dad vibes and does not give one fuck what anyone has to say, he will do whatever he wants whenever he wants
morrison is a sweet lil guy who is respectful and the perfect guy to date
vorlicky def gets all the girls and uses the fact he plays for the university to get them.
dan is def fuckboy but its respected because he’s hot, but is shy so most of the time the girls come to him. he is besties with malmy and whatever malmy wants to do, dan will do
cools is like a classic canadian with his mannerisms and stuff, probs super smart with a idgaf personality/vibe

Potential 2022 US World Juniors Hockey Team: In Case We Still Have A Country
To say the least, it’s been a hectic week for Americans in international hockey. On Tuesday evening, the nation won its sixth gold medal in theWorld Juniorswith a dramatic, 2-0 victory over Canada. A gang of insurrectionists stormed into the United States Capitol around 12 hours later, ending a 200-year record of peaceful power transitions. So it’s a bit of a mixed bag all in all. Fortunately, IIHF president Rene Fasel reaffirmed the federation’s commitment to hosting tournaments in both the United States and Belarus later this year, indicating that a functioning democracy is not a deal breaker.
Tumblr media
With that in mind, we shift our focus to a possible US World Junior team in 2022, just in case. The US will return to Edmonton to defend their gold title with players born in 2002 and younger. Six players from the gold medalists will return, leaving a large number of roster slots open for the United States to fill.
The second elephant in the room for next year’s lineup is the continuing coronavirus epidemic, which isn’t the man with elephant horns marching through the Senate chamber. As much as the virus caused havoc on this year’s roster, losing a few of players their chance at a gold medal, I believe we may see even more of an impact next year. When the virus shut down USA Hockey’s summer camp last year, I argued that the US was in a strong position since their roster was largely set. They had a lot of returning players and had seen enough from everyone else that most of the remaining slots could be readily filled.
The next year will be more challenging. There are just six returnees, and most of the rest of the team hasn’t played enough hockey in the last year to form views. The US will likely have summer camps, but I still believe it is a poor substitute for being in the rink and seeing someone play important games. This is going to be a tough squad to put together.
Here’s my best estimate at what a US World Junior squad could look like next year.
Best guesses: Matty Beniers*, Brett Berard*, Landon Slaggert*, Thomas Bordeleau, Luke Tuch, Ty Smilanic, Dylan Peterson, Mackie Samoskevich, Hunter McKown, Cross Hanas, Chaz Lucius, Sasha Pastujov, Justin Janicke
Matt Coronato, Blake Biondi, Jackson Hallum, Jack Smith, Jackson Kunz, Antonio Stranges, Carson Bantle, Chase Yoder, Joe Miller, Wyatt Schingoethe, Chase Bradley, Dylan Duke, Matthew Knies, Jeremy Willmer, Chase Stillman, Caden Brown, Connor Kurth, Hunter Strand, Isaac Howard, Maddox Fleming, Frank Nazar, Ryan St. Louis, Jack Devine, Red Savage, Jack Hughes, Mark Estapa, Avery
With the great ‘01 class aging out, there is clearly a lot of scoring to replace. They return three players who played important roles on the gold-medal-winning squad, albeit not necessarily scoring ones. Thomas Bordeleau would have been on the squad as well, but was unable to participate owing to Covid limitations, which we hope to resolve before next year.
Beniers has a chance of getting selected early enough, particularly given how well he performed in this tournament, that he gets signed immediately and plays in the NHL next year, rendering him ineligible. However, I believe the odds are slim.
I’m fairly confident about the top eight names on my Best Guess list. There will be some '03s who make it as well, with Lucius and Pastujov being the early front-runners. Due to a dearth of high-end scoring in the 2002 age group, the US may need them to be significant offensive players. Also, I haven’t watched them play yet, but there may be a chance for a '04 from the NTDP squad—which seems to be a very good group—to earn their way into the team.
Because there are so few youngsters in the qualifying age group playing college hockey at this time, the bottom few roster slots are more difficult to fill. I went with McKown, who didn’t contribute much with the NTDP U18s but has looked excellent so far at Colorado College. However, there is the possibility for someone in the USHL right now to have a great end to the season and a solid start to their collegiate career next fall, which would strengthen their case.

image With that in mind, we shift our focus to a possible US World Junior team in 2022, just in case.
Defensemen
Best guesses: Jake Sanderson*, Brock Faber*, Tyler Kleven*, Wyatt Kaiser, Luke Hughes, Eamon Powell, Aidan Hreschuk, and Sean Behrens
Possible candidates include: Anthony Kehrer, Connor Kelley, Jack Peart, Ian Moore, Jacob Truscott, Mason Langenbrunner, Kyle Aucoin, Noah Ellis, Ty Murchison, Scott Morrow, Roman Schmidt, Luke Mittelstadt, Owen Gallatin, Daniel Laatsch, Ty Gallagher, Evan Bushy, David Ma, Alex Gagne, Hank Kempf, and Ryan Chesley.
This bunch is really appealing to me. Sanderson and Faber were outstanding in this event. Kleven had the experience of traveling, even though he was used little, and I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve seen from him thus far this year. There is considerable doubt about Sanderson’s availability for next year’s tournament or his ability to play in the NHL. Right now, I’d say it’s around 50/50. Sanderson seems to be up to the task.
In terms of newbies, Wyatt Kaiser has pretty well worked himself into being a lock in his first 11 games at Minnesota Duluth. Luke Hughes is the team’s top defender.
Powell and Behrens are both skilled puckmovers. This year’s squad demonstrated that it is possible to achieve success in this competition by going a bit smaller on the blue line. Hreschuk is a good player and a '03 who can return for the next event. Beyond the group I chose, there isn’t a lot of depth, but who knows where some of the other '03s may wind up in the following months.
Goalies
Drew Commesso, Gibson Homer, and Louden Hogg are the most likely candidates.
Noah Grannan and Kaidan Mbereko are two possibilities.
It will be Drew Commesso’s net for next year’s event. It’s a step down from having Spencer Knight, but Commesso is capable of leading the US to where they want to go.
Overall
I’m less excited about next year’s squad than I was about this year’s team. Even in what might be considered a weak year for the United States, they will have a squad capable of earning a medal, if not the gold.
It’s a tournament where you really only need to win 2.5 games, and this bunch believes they’re capable of accomplishing so. I have some worries about this team’s scoring, but the defense should be very, really strong, and that’s a fantastic place to start if you’re trying to steal a few victories.
The issue is whether they can pull it off. In the four tournaments that followed the US winning a gold medal, they won two bronzes and did not medal in the other two. Back-to-back matches are the next challenge for them.
