hi ! i was wondering if there were any videos that helped you learn gif making or if you were open to talking about how you developed your gif making process ? (sry I’m on anon I just get nervous af telling people I’m a fan l o l but your work is grade a+)

i'll link a couple of things in the answer and it's probably gonna get long, so i'll post the rest under the cut if you don't mind!

i learned almost everything i know from a kind friend who's really really good at making gifs and who has the patience of a saint cause she always answered all my questions when i was feeling very much like a monkey pressing random things on the keyboard, love you @ueberdemnebelmeer 💕💕

now for the important stuff:

this is what i usually use to download the files i need: ❖ 4kvideodownloader for YT stuff ❖ this for twt clips ❖ this for IG videos ❖ and this one for ttk videos without the watermark my beloathed

and if you want to gif something the advice i can give you is to always, always go for the highest possible resolution for your files cause yes, you *can* gif something in 720p (looking at you, channie's rooms and twitter clips and youtube lives) but the gif will inevitably look kinda grainy in the end

2. "official" tumblr gif sizes:

source but nothing stops you from experimenting a bit! like for my vertical sets i like to resize my gifs to 350x525px just keep in mind tumblr's limit for your file is 10MB (the new editor rounds it up so it's more like < 9.5MB)

3. the ✨tutorials✨

❖ this one was a huge help, it covers everything from the basics to the coloring to adding captions plus a couple of fancy effects and it has a lot of images which is great if you're a visual learner like me

and @usergif is my go to for tutorials when i want to learn how to make this or that effect!

#my giffing process is slightly different because instead of importing a video i usually import the screencaps i grabbed using PotPlayer #maybe one day i'll make a tutorial but im terrible at explaining things and these were all things that helped me a lot <3 #answered #anon
