bunch of Phantasy AU doodles n wip from earlier this year

Basically I just found out this year that ball-jointed dolls actually have strings in them and not just... magically attached by the ball joints themselves? And 31 in this AU is a ball jointed doll that were made out of Danny's energy so here we are :3c

I've been watching a lot of doll customization since earlier this year and found out from dollightful's video that no they are all connected by elastic strings inside so that's where the idea came from

...i was looking on google to find a good example to put here and clearly I'm not exactly paying attention to how the main body strings are actually.. pinned to?

the video I've been watching the most is dollightful n moonlight jewel and they have their bjd usually only to the bottom of the doll head instead of all the way to the top on the skull pin like the diagram above

Which is why 31 has his strings all connected to the 'heart' in the middle instead of the head kasjdnkasjnd

But yeah uhhh specifics aside...

Those ball jointed dolls made me think of 31, and then thinking about the clones in Phantasy AU and like.. the logistic of it

for 31, the idea is that during the circus gothica arc for this AU, Danny actually got kidnapped all the whole way into another universe/plane in which he met Valeska (Enn's oc) who unalive what his face the circus leader n break Danny's hypnosis

and now that Danny is essentially stuck in a whole other plane/realm/or sth he just following Valeska hoping she'll help him find his way back.

In one such trip, Danny got kidnapped (again) by another group/cult who wanted to use his power/energy as a gate keeper to the ghost zone to make their own gate keeper so they can open portals to ghost zones and maybe other realms too

31 is part of the experiments. He's a doll made with part of Danny's energy as his core.

And then it's.. uhh.. sth sth Valeska finally found out where they kept Danny and devour everyone there safe from Danny n 31 who helped him escape so now the three of them travel together~

The last pict is me thinking about clones and kingdom hearts :tm: so dramatic about Danny being the soul separated from the main body and 31 a clone made from part of the soul too and all that Not sure where I'm going with that but it do sound cool

And there's also Danielle but I'm not exactly sure.. how she would fit in? but it would be interesting if she was made from Danny's body somehow

so 31 made from part of teh soul and Dani from part of the body sounds poetic somehow

heterogenia linguistico is so interesting...

#before i knew it i caught up X_X #being about language tho it feels like its especially important to get the translations accurate akndjccjdnd #if i could find physical copies id get them immediately esp since its like at 4 volumes still #but its also reminding me how little i remember of my linguistics degree AKAMNDNDNDNCMF #and our field methods unit.... #which was super interesting but really impresses upon u the difficulty of learning (observing?) a language from the bottom up #also my socially anxious ass was not fond of the idea of field research erhsbscbd #which i understood to be necessary in pursuing a masters? so i didnt want to LOL #im looking at it now and that may not be true.... or it depends on the actual degree #in any case anything linguistics related will involve talking to people lmao so even tho based on my knowledge #it would make sense to pursue further linguistics...... i dont think i would actually be good at it career wise in any form #ok hang on ive just taken a look at an applied linguistics degree. there IS a capstone project #which would involve field work but maybe not to the extent i was imagining #in any case im not actually confident i remember enough from my undergrad 😭😭😭😭😭 #holy shit i finished it like. 6 years ago......

What a week 🥲

In positive news, I finally ordered myself a bluetooth keyboard & mouse! Look at those colors! And it has the old school, clunky keys with the grooves in the middle?? SO good to click-y clack on 😍

In less positive news... this paper is kicking my ass. I am finished reading the first book for my capstone project/paper (it was terrible. Not a fan of this man for a million reasons. 0/10 Do not recommend.) I now need to write a 5pg analysis/critique of the book, and my brain is fighting So Hard against me :')

I ended up calling my mom and just completely broke down sobbing about it, so I am now ~at~ my parents' house trying to get some work done here.. idk there's something magic about Mom and Dad's Dinner Table, yknow? Hopefully its magic works this time as well and I'm able to get a good start or outline of the paper before I go back home tomorrow morning (the deadline for this part of the project is Tuesday and I work sunday/Monday so... 🤞)

This is literally my last class to graduate with a degree I've been pursuing on and off for the past 14 years... im trying so hard to stay strong, but im struggling SO much and it makes me wanna just quit lol 🥲

Ope, dad just came out of his home office and scolded me for being on my phone lol that's a good sign to post this and return to my Daunting Tasks. (I may be in my 30s, but the dad scold is still effective and the reason why I made the trip up here 😂 )

earlier when I was saying bye to my favorite teacher she was so nice to me and she gave me a hug and told me to keep in touch and said she was also sad I didn't get to take more classes with her and anyway I love her so much she's been such a good teacher and I will keep in touch even if I'm a scaredy cat about it

just once i'd like to complete one (1) bigger project that i can actually be proud of

#hrrrrg met with my advisor for my thesis and it's Not Great!! #idk how i always manage to set myself up for failure #struggled so much with thinking of a specific thing to write about so now i have this super broad paper about everything which essentially #amounts to writing about nothing #cuz that's not how history works you can't just make a huge argument like that (at least not without much more extensive research than ive #done) #and im not saying anything novel or interesting anyway #but i already have a whole semester of work dumped into this thing so neither my advisor nor myself wants me to tear it apart and start fro #scratch #there definitely wouldn't be time to do that anyway #so now it's just gonna be yet another thing where i have no confidence in it while working on it and just eke out an end product thats #decent enough to satisfy others while i know inwardly that its really not good #the professor for the capstone class last semester said the paper was good and i was in a good spot to finish it this semester #but this is the first time my actual advisor has really looked at it and hes confirming all of the doubts i had about it :(((( #agh itll ultimately be fine i just wish i could do something to justify the 'oh youre such a good student!' im really not!!!!!!!! #i have no idea what i'm doing!!!!!! #p

16. At what point in the process do you come up with titles?

Usually at the VERY very end. Like, "I have the Ao3 tab open to "post" and am frantically googling song lyrics" very end. I struggle with titles. They're hard! And also I find it difficult to encapsulate a fic I'm not done with yet. (This is also why I don't remember any of my fic titles.)

for this reason my scrivener folder looks like this and is fully incomprehensible to anyone but me. also sometimes to me. (the x is how i mark completed fics)

17. What’s something you’ve learned about while doing research for a fic?

Oh man. back on twitter I would occasionally just post what I'd been googling lately as teasers for the fic. I did a lot of math about how fast humans can safely go without protective gear for that one scene in timkon roadtrip where kon flies tim back to the grand canyon. It turns out people have tested this back in the 50s, mostly using sleds with rockets on the back; John Paul Stapp tapped out at 630 mph, although he was wearing a helmet and a bite block. (The thing that kills you mostly isn't the speed itself, it's the acceleration and deceleration, which humans are much worse at withstanding than straight up velocity.) In the classic story of my life I did a lot of reading about this and then decided to handwave it. (Tim super could not survive Kon's full speed, which seems to be about 2300 mph, or mach 3.)

I also did a fair amount of background reading on the 80s Midwestern farm crisis when I was thinking about Clark and his approach to money for Mission Parameters. this was really depressing.

#Transitionary periods of life are So! Stressful!! #I hate getting texts and stuff from friends and family like ‘did you get into [prestigious university i applied for] yet?’ #like. No! they only let in like 15% of applicants! it’s going to take them a while to decide!! #and their immediate follow-up question is ‘when will you find out?’ #That information! is NOWHERE. on their WEBSITE!!! #plus we just had three snow days at work and I missed out on like 20 of my work hours for last week #so my paycheck is gonna be super slim on Friday! #and I have not bought groceries in a while! #thank god I have a remote job or I would probably be freezing my ass off in a tent right now! I won’t know the questions until the weekend I have to write the paper. 5 pages in 2 days. that’s stressful. #i am suprised I’m not wearing a rut in the floor from pacing so much! #I will be going insane. ​through no fault of my own. I have to finish my annotated bibliography of 10 books and choose the three im going to be using in my research paper ~and~ have developed my working research question by tuesday ..and i am The Stress about it!! I'm glad the fist couple weeks of class were a little more mild, just getting ready and collecting reading material, but it's now taking off in a big way and I must come to terms with the loss of my social life for the next 3 month :')

at least i have my children (cats) to keep me company...
