oh i'm sorry, i didn't realize we were taking moral standing points from the asura now. y'know. the race that full-hog experimented and ripped apart sylvari even after knowing they were wholly sapient beings (and it wasn't even inquest! it was regular fucking asura! the arcane council most definitely okayed those experiments! never mind the fact that the council TO THIS DAY fucking openly allows inquest to do as they please so long as they don't cause trouble in rata sum) and have done little to nothing to apologize for that fact to their sylvari allies.
but no, you're right, the humans are the worst race in tyria just by way of existing and trying to find a place for themselves. how could i have ever thought different?
#from beyond the grave#hi i'm going to go fucking feral#I'M NOT EVEN A HUGE HUMAN FAN. i have them and i love the ones i do have! but i greatly prefer sylvari as my playable race.#what the FUCK are you talking about#“did everything they can to push other people off their land” are you talking about pushing charr out???? cus uh.#i don't know how to tell you this but the charr STOLE THAT LAND IN THE FIRST PLACE EVEN BEFORE HUMANS#dont even get me started on their HoT take (the One Expansion that anet gave sylvari before forgetting they exist)#and the icebrood one (the charr should have never been the fucking main focus of the goddamn NORN PLOT ANYWAYS)#the “human interference” in icebrood was literally a fucking BLIP amongst the bullshit of the charr getting involved#don't even fucking talk to me about “humans being lynchpins” for icebrood. it should have had NOTHING but NORN LORE.#it was the NORN PLOT. jormag had always been NORN STORY AND PLOT.#“buhbuhbuh humans” I DON'T GIVE A SHIT. THE CHARR SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN THERE EITHER#it's extremely telling that you don't care that the charr shouldn't have been there either#and only focused on the .0000000000003 seconds that kas helped in anything related to the plot#while also framing crecia and rytlock's relationship problems throughout as “human-looking” squabbling#god forbid rytlock get some character development where he WANTS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for his kid#(even tho it should've happened in a charr-centric story thread and NOT THE FUCKING NORN ONE ANET)#and every charr in the world is like “but why do you care??” because charr society is so incredibly FUCKED re: their kids#“being attentive to the story” my fucking ass. just say you fucking hate humans as a race and move the fuck on.#i didn't mean to rant this much in the tags but the more i stared at the post the more i felt like biting someone#OH. OH SORRY. i just noticed that#the person was like “lol inquest figured out how to harness elder dragon energy before xunlai <3”#JUHGTFJHKDFJHGLKFD ??????#okay for one the inquest are a bunch of literal rat bastards who caused a NUCLEAR REACTOR EXPLOSION in metrica#i'm not going to trust a fucking inquest ANYWHERE NEAR ME let alone praise them for “ethical” dragon energy#the “uhm ACKSUALLY S W E A T Y” tone of voice re: canthan tech vs. asuran is asinine and also annoying as fuck#“all of PoF was about humans :(” IT IS LITERALLY. ABOUT A HUMAN GOD? IT IS *THE* HUMAN XPAC.#IT WAS NOT A SURPRISE FOR IT TO BE HUMAN THEMED? WE KNOW ELONA IS H U M A N S ?#yet again. what the FUCK are you even talking about.#OKAY. jesus christ. i think i'm finally done bitching about this.

omg i love your drabbles! Could you please do something (charr, hcs or drabble) about the bsd men (pls incluse nikolai!) with fem reader who squirts? Was it a surprise, were they absolutely trying to get it to happen, are they into it?
OKAAAAAAAAY, let's go: he fucks you until you squirt. how does he react?
Tumblr media
It's his goal to make you squirt, and he loves it when you do.
Ranpo (drinks squirt like it's the elixir of life; if you don't squirt he won't stop stimulating you until you do. He wants it all over his face, he wants it dripping down his chest. He is the #1 squirt fan and will die on this hill), Chuuya (loves pleasuring women, and he knows that making someone squirt is to get them to reach an elevated sense of pleasure. He wants you to feel as good as possible, so he loves to make you squirt), Dazai (knows how the body works, knows how to pleasure it, and enjoys teasing; most of the times you squirt with Dazai are after he's edged you for quite some time and your body can't take it anymore), Jouno (is cocky and thinks you need to squirt because he's doing a good job. If you don't squirt he feels like he isn't doing well enough so he takes you another round and maybe another until you do), Tetcho (also thinks that you squirting is a reflection of his sexual ability, so he pushes you to the farthest edge every time so you both feel good), Kunikida (heard that squirting feels extra good for his female partner, so he wants to try. He studies how to do it, practices with you, and can reliably squirt when you want to; it's awfully messy, though, so it's not something you two do a lot), Ango (just loves fucking you so much that you two accidentally found out that you can squirt, and now when Ango is in another desperate, hooked-on-you kind of mood and he won't stop fucking you, he knows you'll squirt (and he typically puts down a barrier on the bed to prevent it from seeping into the mattress), Tachihara (knows you can do it because he tried the first time, but he's satisfied with that knowledge, he doesn't need to do it a lot and you don't seem to care about doing it much either).
He doesn't expect you to squirt at all, but when you do he loses his mind for it.
Junichiro (is right behind Ranpo as squirt's biggest fan after you accidentally do it once; it makes him go absolutely feral and he laps it all up. He instantly tells you he wants you to do it again, but you struggle to replicate it), Atsushi (only briefly once heard of squirting so he's confused, but you explain that it's a good thing and he feels proud and wants to make you do it again), Nikolai (knows he pleasures you very well regardless of if you squirt, so it's not a goal of his but he does like when it happens by surprise), Fukuzawa (thinks squirt seems very pornographic and almost unreal; he likes it if you like it, and he won't try to stop it, but he doesn't like the mess and he isn't eating it), Poe (thinks he'd like to make it happen but doesn't so much think he can get you to; when you do it's a great surprise and he gratefully slurps up every drop), Oda (doesn't try because you said you can't, but when it happens on its own he nearly cheers and is very proud of you).
He consciously makes you squirt but doesn't care to play in it himself.
Fukuchi (makes you squirt to prove that he can and that he's so good at pleasuring women, but he doesn't like the mess, has no interest in consuming it, though he does like to be in the splash zone), Fyodor (will try a few times until he gets you to do it, then he decides he does not like it, it's dirty and weird and you better not do it again).
He doesn't expect you to squirt, and when you do he has mixed feelings.
Mori (literally does not want you to do it and will avoid letting you orgasm if he thinks you're too worked up; he's a doctor, he knows what's going on in there), Akutagawa (had no idea what the fuck was happening; when you explained it was a good thing you over-explained and said some people think squirt is just pee, and that really confused him; he's interested but keeps it very low-key), Mushitaro (despises the mess, will not date someone who is a regular, but obviously can't fault you if it's a one-off), Bram (makes you do it by complete surprise and is not impressed, not intrigued, just wants to move on, never brings it up again), Sigma (doesn't know what it is, is turned off thinking it might be pee, doesn't like the mess, tastes it but says it's not the same as your cum, is pissed that it soiled the bed and now he's gotta have someone come clean it up when he wanted to have you all to himself today).

sometimes i feel like gw2 feels a bit narratively lacking just as a personal opinion -- but sometimes following a collection you will end up in front of a tangle of rusty pipes, one of which has an opening missing its grate and overgrown with leaves, and you will walk through the tunnel until it emerges into this vast utterly hidden green grotto with sunlight streaming in through cracks from above and facilitating the growth of these little strawberry patches. and a little charr kid is tending the strawberries and shes like Aw man you found my strawberries, you can have some, please just dont tell anyone else about this, its my secret place. this serves no other plot purpose but to be a moment you experience. and its little moments like this forever.

Okay, so I'm replaying mass effect and I've started a list of things I stumbled on for the first time. Might be interesting, but it's mostly not taking interrupts.
If you tell Anderson to go to Citadel Control instead of making Udina pay a visit to his dentist, he will actually be caught and get shot, but he is still going to get it done, like the main character he is (what do you mean the story is about Shepard? No it isn't!)
If you don't take the renegade interrupt to headbutt Uvenk on Grunt's loyalty mission, then ask him if he wants to die, Shepard will warn Uvenk that if he keeps talking crap, his "few brains are going to meet the light of day". The Shaman will be impressed and call Shepard (at least femshep) a "human Shiagur", then proceed to shit on Uvenk.
Alternatively, you can investigate, then take a paragon choice to call him the worst insult Shepard can think of: A Citadel politician.
If you take Thane to recruit Jack, when the Warden says "bounty hunters aren't dependable", he'll tell him to "try assassins"
If you ignore Bailey until you get reinstated, he will call you "Spectre Shepard" the first time you talk to him, and you won't get the "scanners think you are dead" conversation.
In the first part of Garrus loyalty mission, when you are talking to the volus, there is a renegade interrupt to shoot the bodyguards, right? If you don't take it, Garrus is going to tell them to leave and... they will. Without a word. While the volus screams for them to come back cause he already paid the guys.
If you go paragon with Elias (the guy who hired Kolyat), then take the last renegade interrupt, his lawyer will show up and tell him to "shut the hell up". Before that, you will also get the chance to rat on Mouse.
Also on Thane's mission, Talid will talk how about he is being observed and how someone is "walking on his grave, or thinking about it". His bodyguard will dismiss him by calling him paranoid.
If you don't take the renegade interrupt to blow up the krogan in Mordin's loyalty mission, you will start to regret it immediately. He will have a LONG speech about what Weyrloc is going to do to the galaxy, like throwing the Citadel in the sun, keeping salarians as slaves and eating their eggs as "a delicacy" (Mordin didn't like it much). The good news is that the interrupt will be there until he is finished talking, so there is no need to actually hear the guy.
If you stick around to hear Charr's whole poem, he will kneel in (one of) the last verses. Just a tiny detail but it was actually adorable.
If I find anything else, I'll let you guys know!

DogBlud traces? Like, from her own other images or from others? Can you elaborate?
She straight up takes screenshots from movies/shows and traces those or used Ependa's sketches and traces over them. She showed me and Rex her entire process on stream a few times, where she heavily leans on tracing. Here's an example:
Tumblr media
It's not like she can't freehand, but she was so anal about how "her werewolves" looked that she straight up would trace the entire face of a wolf then just move around or add features. She used to get on to other people that "she could tell" were heavily referencing/tracing but never exposed how much she actually did it. Any human and werewolf art prior to her using Ependa's sketches were mostly traced or heavily traced, Ependa was just saving her the trouble of digging for references and making her look better by not making it as obvious how much she leaned on it for finished pieces. And yeah, it's is the majority of her artwork. I know a lot of her GW2 Charr art was traced cause I literally watched her do it with my Charr.
I'm not against tracing for practice or corrections or personal pieces, especially if it's references you took the time to gather yourself. My issue comes in with Dog, where she conveniently never mentioned how much she leaned on it for personal work, commissions, and art for others. She was just lazy and wanted to make her skillset look better than it actually was.

I know there's people who like their fantasy storytelling to take a few steps away from reality, you know. Nothing that verges on allegorical to the stuff we worry about in real life. And I think I'm on the opposite team to that and y'know, the further away we get from gw2's original core story the more I see The World Summit instance as more pivotal than it appeared.
Tumblr media
It's the part in the middle of Season 2 where you bring the world leaders together to try and insist that they need to aid you fighting Mordremoth, a primal force who's only just now awakened and started causing disruption and deaths. Mechanically, it serves to show the various cultures being made aware of the upcoming antagonist for mostly the first time.
But there's something that grips me to this day about the realism in that segment. You know full well that this thing is beginning its warpath and will kill those around you. You and your guild know that you need to take action immediately before it gathers itself together to a point you cannot fight it any more. I don't think the scene serves much more than obligatory scaffolding in a narrative sense but it echoes the way I feel in real life all the time. It's the focal point where I've never felt more aligned with my Commander.
Smodur: They're plant creatures! How hard can they be to fight. One good flamethrower and…
Knut: Mordremoth is not yet as close as the Sons of Svanir. They press in around our homesteads. That is more important.
Phlunt: Are you saying we should put ourselves on the line to protect all of you? We are safe in Rata Sum.
Jennah: I'm not ashamed to admit that I don't see how this will work. What are you asking of us?
It's not easy to ask the Main Five Peoples to get anything done together - they do come from legitimately incompatible cultures and there's bad history between humans and charr, and sylvari and asura. But you have to present an argument to each one to convince them this is the most important thing to devote resources to.
It's been about ten years since this was written and it still feels exactly like every conversation that deflects from the reality of climate change. The 'we have bigger things to worry about', the 'it's not that bad', the denials, the giving up, the ones who have enough to feel secure individually and don't really care.
That and the way the narrative turns from 'you're the hero, slay the dragon' to a domino effect that cannot be stopped, wrenching the planet off its hinges and it was all down to you. There's a big difference in changing the threat from ancient dragons awakening to devour all life... and it being the Commander's fault that the stabilising effect those dragons had is unplugged. The allegory becomes undeniable - you doomed the world. You have to chase down that tether and pull the weave back from unravelling even if it'll tear you apart. And even if nobody realises how close their lives are to ending, even if nobody respects you for it.
You have to look the most powerful people alive in the eye and plead with them to fucking help you for god's sake knowing it's a crisis and if you don't take action right now instead of waiting for it to get worse... being able to tell them 'I told you so' will be no solace at all.
And fuckin.... if fantasy stories are there to give us hope for ourselves, nothing hits as directly as the journey from "It's not that bad, why should we put anything on the line for you?" to
Tumblr media
That hope means something very real to me.

Secrets of the Obscure: Lost Commander
Playing through the first sections of Secrets of the Obscure, it got me thinking.
The Commander is lost.
Since the beginning of the game, when we take hold of them, they've had some kind of mission, some kind of goal. It started out small; help out in Shaemoor when things go bad. Or end a nasty Inquest prank/assault by destroying their cube golem. Or help put down Lord Barradine's ghost (again). Or literally defend the Dream from the psychic marring the Nightmare Court are trying to inflict on it in the hopes of spoiling the Dream into the Nightmare. Or taking part in a celebratory hunt and taking down the biggest Ice wurm to date.
From there it just snowballed for them with the Personal story, leading up to joining an Order, meeting their mentor… losing their mentor… Creating the pact and eventually bringing down Zhaitan.
And it kept going from there. One crisis after another. One war after another. Friends gained. Friends lost. Enemies found. Enemies ended. World saved, again, and again, and again.
Finally, things are falling into a nominal peace. Oh there's skirmishes and stuff. There will always be strife. But the big stuff? The world is starting to slowly move past it.
Human and Charr not only have a tenuous peace treaty; the heads behind the resistance to that treaty are GONE. Almost every main legion is headed by someone ameniable to peace, to a new way of life.
The Nightmare Court, while not gone, doesn't seem to have the violence they used to. Oh they still tempt the new sprouts to join them, to indulge in pain and decadence and rebellion… but with Faolain dead, the guiding source for their brutality is gone. Maybe they'll be trouble in the future, but not nearly to the degree Faolain turned them into.
The Inquest have lost base after base, including a Rata. It's unknown what their command structure is like now, or where other bases are, but they seem to at least be keeping their heads down. And with the Arcane Eye taken down, they don't have anyone on the inside anymore, to cover up their misdeeds.
The White Mantle are dead or badly scattered, with no real hope of reforming.
The Svanir have lost their totem beast, if not their lives. If they still linger on, they're no longer the power they tried to be.
Even Joko is finally dead. One of the biggest damned threats to the world, someone who would have killed and turned everyone if given a chance, is now Elder Dragon burps.
The Gods are gone, never to return. The one that tried to is dead.
Through all this, the Commander struggled, trying to save as many as they could. Eventually rising to become the Symbol of the desire for peace and stability.
And it finally happened.
But what do we find? The Commander is… lost. Everyone they knew is either dead, retired, has moved on to positions where they can no longer 'go on adventures'. The threats that brought them all together are gone. Now it's just the wind-down. Fix broken things, find the lives they left behind to fight their fight.
Except the Commander.
They don't have anything else. Their whole existence for the last 10 years has been nigh-constant fighting, threat, intrigue, near-dying, and ACTUAL dying.
Everyone else has moved on. But the Commander can't. What can they do?
It's so terribly sad. I listened to my Commander, Cyrus. My own self-insert. Walking around Salma district. He was relieved that things were peaceful, but you could tell he didn't feel at home. He didn't feel at home, at HOME. Because it wasn't home anymore. It was just a place he protected for a long time.
When he was trying out Taimi's new phone system (I just think of it as the smartphone system), with each call, it was clear that everyone had moved on but him. They'd all found lives to life, new purposes, new loves…. old loves…
And here you have him, standing alone in the street, unnoticed by everyone but a nosey reporter from Cantha. At a loss for what to do with himself.
Going back a step, even the triple-'date' Taimi set up to help Rama was awkward as hell. It wasn't the Commander's idea; they got hijacked into it. Even had their date pretty much picked out for them. As pleasant as it was, and as relaxed as it made them in the end, it was an oddity in their life. When was the last time they'd had a date? Before the Personal Story, somewhere? Maybe never? Was that the FIRST date the Commander had ever had?
It just kinda made me sad that, they knew they were basically going through the motions of 'normal life', because it wasn't normal to THEM. Trying to fit in to a world that no longer needed them.
If it wasn't for accidentally stumbling onto the Astral Ward, I don't think they would have been able to settle into a normal life.
But it still doesn't end there; accidentally brought into association with the Ward, they run into perhaps the ONE other person who might understand that sense of emptiness, that loss of the sense of home. Zojja.
And in her usual faintly self-centered way, you find out she blames the Commander partly for not being there when she needed someone. The one person who not only would have been there if contacted, but ALSO needed someone to confide in, to take some of the weight off them…
It hurt to hear Cyrus very slowly say "We would have come. I know I would've." There was pain there. Like 'You really thought we'd abandon you, so you immediately discounted us.'
So here's Zojja, the last of the people he knew from being the Commander who hasn't yet disappeared… and she's telling him that if she Ascends to Wizard, she'll lose memories, or they'll be come dull and unimportant. That the Zojja that comes out the other side might not even view him as a friend anymore.
And the Commander, already knowing he's probably going to lose his last friend, can only offer an understanding, painful smile and tell her that no matter what, he'll support her, even if she doesn't recognize him anymore.
They'll call him Wayfinder in the Ward… but it's just a new war front. A new rank. A new title. And he'll have to start over again.
At least he'll have R'tchikk to remind him of a past that's already starting to fade away in Tyria.
Everyone in the Ward knows of the Commander; they've been watching through their crystal balls, wondering if the Commander was a big enough threat that they'd need to quietly eliminate them. But now that the Commander is right there, the Ward is going to use them as a new weapon.
And we all know the Commander is just going to accept that this is what they're gonna have to do because… what's the alternative? At least they know how to fight.

Fregions bones ached, his muscles sore. It had come for him slowly, so slowly he hadnt even noticed it. He was already long in the tooth by a large mark compared to most charr. He thought, maybe that meant he'd just keep on going like this forever. But one morning in a borrowed bed visiting Kas and jory, he felt it. This ache, this weakness. He was so tired… Kas had been the first to find him. He'd tried to get out of bed but he just couldnt muster the strength.
The heavy thump of his body hitting the floor must have drawn her attention up there. She had gasped, and he had laughed, weak and raspy, as she tried to help him up without looking at his naked form. Even now as he drew closer to the end…he was still embarrassing her. He was glad that never changed…she was fun to tease. She had asked if he was ill, running a fever. But no, he had shook his head and smiled sadly at her.
"Im dying…" He had said in a low voice. "I think my times up." She had panicked. Clones jumping every which way as they ran to likely contact a doctor, send letters to their friends and who knows what else. He remembered her shaky hands on his forehead as she scolded him for joking like that. But she knew he was telling the truth…
As the days drew on and his strength failed him. He cursed the world. What an ignoble end for the legendary Charr Commander. Hero of Tyria. To die peacfuly in bed. Not on the field of battle, not with a sword in his hand. But in bed, with his friends worrying over him.
Braham and Rox were surprisingly the first to come see him on his death bed. They walked in, hand in hand and he had to stop himself from laughing himself in to a coughing fit. Leave it to the young to wait till your dying to figure themselves out. Rox spoke about Olmican spirituality, about not needing to be afraid. He corrected her of course. It wasnt fear he felt after all, just disappointment it wasn't fighting. Braham joked that he could grab his mace, and send him to the mists, but before he could take the norn up on the offer Rox punched him in the shoulder with a disapproving look. He thanked them, for their visit, and wished them well in their new life. Peace lets one think on these sorts of things he supposed.
The next to visit him was Anise and Livia of all people.
"Even if we forced your hand…you were still a blade member. And an invaluable ally to Kryta, Commander." Anise said.
"Could always reanimate you if you want. Maybe let you touch the scepter of orr so you can keep on going?" She had a sad look on her face. "This is the second time I've watched you go, big guy. Wonder what you'll come back as next time?" She chuckled. "Maybe one of those bears in the north?"
Anise chuckled behind her hand. "Or a Tengu? You were always oddly beautiful for a charr." Fregion smiled. He was glad they could joke with him like that.
Crecia, Logan and Rytlock came next.
"Commander…" Logan spoke first. "It has been, an honor working with you. I also took your advice with Rytlock, and Crecias." He wrapped his hand around the charrs waist and pulled him in close. Rytlock blushed but did not fight, simply nuzzled the human affectionately.
"Its a shame we aren't out fighting something Commander…no charr wants to go so sweetly." He nodded. "Though I suppose, after killing Gods, Dragons, Demons and a slew of other horrors, I think that more then makes up for it."
Crecia stepped forward, hesitant. "I know we… and the legions…have had a rocky relationship. But I speak for all charr, thank you commander. Without you, the charr may just be icy thralls under Jormag, or worse. There may not have been any charr left at all." She placed a blood legion flag, folded neatly, on his bed. "For the legions…soldier." She and Rytlock both saluted.
Zojja came down from her large tower with a letter in hand from the Astral ward as well. Though she wasnt alone he was sure. He felt the familiar whispers and carssing of Peitha in his mind.
"Wayfi- I mean…Commander." After a moment looking forlornly at the ground she whispered. "…Fregion." She placed the letter on the bed side stand. "Considering what uh, what we know about me…and our previous history. I thought I should come see you off. I- I didnt think I'd feel this awful though." She sniffled and sent a watery smile his way. "I'm going to live a long time, ya know. The Astral ward wanted to ascend you but, given how volitile and poorly your relationship with them was, i figured id tell them no in your stead." He couldnt help but laugh at that, though it took him some time to stop coughing after.
"Mortal…you have been most amusing, I could bring you in to my fold. It would be a shame to lose someone like you…" She knew the answer, and her voice, normally low and composed, had a hint of desperation to it. "But I know the answer. Maybe we'll stumble in to each other in the mists. May your journey be gentle and easy." Zojja choked out a sob. He reached a trembling claw to her face, wiping a way the tears. He smiled. He was glad his friend was on the road to being better now too. She gripped his hand tightly, soft whimpers and sobs escaping her as she clung to him. He pretended to not hear the whispers of 'dont go' and 'please dont leave me alone again…'
On his final day…he knew it was time. He told Marjory and Kasmeer as much. They sat with him through out the day. Helped him out to the plaza of Kormir. The moon was high and the stars were shining. As if the universe itself was winking sadly at him. Or maybe his eyesight was starting to get blurry. He had asked them, told them and no one else of his secret devotion to Kormir, about his past connection to her. Kas had been extatic the first time he had told them, so many years ago. So in secret, with only the priests of Kormir to read him his last rights. They sat beside him as he lay, Caladbolg in hand, on a small cot prepared for him.
"Commander…?" Kasmeers soft voice broke the silence. Marjory gave her a quick comforting squeeze. "Fregion…" She corrects sadly. "Im only now realizing myself how little we…we used your name. And it- it hurts knowing the whys, and that only now does your name come easy."
Marjory presses her forehead against the side of Kasmeers head before turning to him and saying. "You lived a long, hard life commander. What are ya, 100 years old? You got to be a miser of a charr." she laughed. "Its a shame none of your cubs are here to see you off…charr cultures been changing, its a shame you…you wont get to see it." Fregion smiles up at the stars. He understands.
He only breaths deeply in response. His eyes are growing heavy. The comfort of Caladbolg on his chest, Tybalts lucky cog at his side. His warbands old pin, a pen that Demmi had given him that hed treasured after her death. He closed his eyes, and for a moment. He felt surrounded. Warmth and love filled him.
"Good to see you again, agent."
"The three of us are back together huh lightbringer?"
"Fregion, you've carried Caladbolg with honor. Im grateful we get to meet again."
"Hey there he is! Took him long enough! Look how OLD he is!" The cheers of roudy charr rung out.
"…Goodbye. I love you all…and hello again." He exhaled for the last time. Carried away by loving hands.

This is super disjointed, but I have a lot of thoughts about charr and their horns! Sometimes on how charr horns are regarded in their culture, as tools, fashion, weapons, and how all of that varies from charr to charr and legion to legion. So here's a very disjointed rant and collection of headcanons I have about charr horns!
The different varieties of horns there are (that are, at least, shown in-game) brings a few ideas to mind for me.

Clearly, most horns there are in-game are true horns, being that outside of the horn is actually more or less a keratin sheath for a bone core (aka the "typical" kind of horns you'll see on ruminant animals, cattle, sheep, goats, etc. etc.) They don't shed like antlers do and they grow continuously through the lifetime of an animal.
Then there are antlers. These shed yearly, grow back yearly. These are entirely composed of bone as opposed to true horns, which again, only have the bone core.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Antlers seem to be far less common among charr than actual horns. And who knows whether that the charr that do have antlers will even shed them or not? I don't think I've seen anything in the game that suggests that they do, but it's an interesting idea: charr with antler horns shedding every winter and then growing them back the next spring, larger, stronger, more impressive than the last. It's not something I personally headcanon, but again, is an interesting thought.
Charr with true horns growing theirs throughout their lifetime. An old, grizzled charr bearing the most impressive, gnarled and spiraled and scarred, massive set you've ever seen. Being able to tell how old a charr is by how large or long their horns are.
But I've also thought about the idea that, after death, charr horns are often sawed off (or broken off if the situation is time sensitive) and given to the deceased's warband or their cub(s), though the former is much more common. Often the horn will may be turned into some kind of tool or accessory; the hilt of a blade, an honored drinking horn. Something useful. A piece of your 'bandmate still there, helping you, protecting you. Whereas keeping a loved one's horn as a simple piece of memorabilia to mount on a wall is generally frowned down upon, suggesting that you didn't really respect the charr that the horn belonged to.
This would only done if the deceased is cremated; if a burial is requested in advance of death then charr will be typically be buried with their horns in tact. I believe that charr typically cremate their dead*, so this would be a rare occurrence.
I've also thought about horns being sawed or broken off while the charr is still alive, as something of an extreme punishment among the legions. Perhaps the only alternative to death within the Bane; live with the symbol of your wrong for your lifetime or die at the hands of another by fighting in the Bane.
And to be fair, the former would still be a bloody, bloody mess too. Dehorning is an extremely painful thing. Charr experiencing a battle wound of this nature would have to be treated quickly, because it can be fatal.
I really, really wish horns were mentioned more in charr culture, because they can do and mean so many things! Charr actually using them as an effective weapon in battle. Charr settling a disagreement with one another via headbutting. Charr with an amputated horn having a false metal one in its place. Bone tools made of charr antlers.
Maybe the different varieties of horns varying from which legion a charr is from. Ash legion? Sleek horns, generally sweeping back, not intrusive, easy to conceal. Blood legion? Forward horns with sharpened tips, good for goring. Iron legion? Curled, broad, wide horns, maybe even good for hanging tools on.
I would love to see some of this depicted!! Obviously it's such a broad topic to cover because of how many different ways horns can be portrayed, and this is all probably a bit convoluted, but you know... it would be fun to at least have it acknowledged somewhere in the game that horns offer much more to charr culture than just visual value.
*I think that this is canon because I swear I've read it before, whether through in-game dialogue or some other canon source, but I can't find anything online confirming this, so I could be entirely wrong. I know that Rytlock burned the bodies of some fellow soldiers on a pyre in the Edge of Destiny book, but that may just be specific to that circumstance.

Downtime in Cantha
CW: touches on the commander’s PTSD very lightly, spoilers for Icebrood Saga
Arborstone had many nooks and crannies to hide in if you needed to get away from everything for a bit. Though if you needed to be approachable for whatever reason, the back of the building opened into a clearing in the dense forest. That was usually where you could find the Commander if one needed him.
It wasn’t hard to spot him, he was tall even for a charr. Reddish striped fur broken up by large black patches, he was pretty difficult to miss.
Corvus sat in the grass beneath a large tree, papers strewn about and weighed down with rocks and sticks to keep them from flying away. A book was placed in his lap as he wrote.
His mane was frizzy and had patches of dirt and grass in it, presumably because he had napped at some point.
“Are you answering letters?” Kasmeer carefully sat down on the grass, not wanting to disturb any of the pages in the area.
Corvus flicked his ears before turning his head to look at Kasmeer, she had sat down on his blind side, completely forgetting about his missing eye for a moment.
He sighed and lowered his shoulders, seemingly releasing subconscious tension he had built up. “It’s for my warband. Or… I guess what’s left of them.” Corvus scratched the top of his head.
“And how is that going?” Kas didn’t want to assume.
“Well… Admittedly not great.” Corvus chuckled. “I don’t want to bother you with it though-“
Kas gave a comforting smile at that before replying. “You really have an odd idea of what ‘bothering’ someone is. If I can help, just ask.”
“I- Thank you.” A rare smile managed to reach the corners of his mouth for a second before once again fading.
“So, what are the letters about?”
Corvus took a second to think, like he hadn’t expected her to ask. “You know how I covered up my face in Drizzlewood?”
Kas nodded.
“I-“ Corvus chuckled. “After everything… After Zhaitan even- I tried to return, y’know?” Corvus looked past Kas, like she wasn’t there.
“Why?”
“Going back to my life after everything… It seemed impossible. I couldn’t- I can’t connect with people who haven’t seen those things. And I thought I was, well, saving them I suppose.” Corvus sighed, he knew how wrong that idea was now.
“And then Almorra-“ he cleared his throat, trying to compose himself. A good soldier doesn’t show sadness. “I just couldn’t face the Charr after that. Couldn’t look them in the eyes knowing that they knew I couldn’t even keep Soulkeeper alive.” He sounded angry, Kas knew it was mostly directed at himself. That was pretty normal for Corvus.
“Sure, Ash agents knew who I was, but- that’s Ash. I knew they wouldn’t tell on me to Blood or Iron, and certainly not Flame.” Corvus sighed. “I hid, because I can’t talk to people anymore, and I abandoned my warband because I couldn’t go back to my life, so I left.” Corvus shrugged like it was nothing, but Kas knew better.
“Corvus,” Kas reached out, placing a hand on the charr’s paw to comfort him. “If anyone would understand it would be your warband.”
“Euryale, sure, but I don’t even know the others. The ones who were there before I joined the pact are all dead.” Corvus chuckled. “Joined Bangar, had to kill them before we even crossed the river in Drizzlewood.”
“I’m… Sorry.” A look of concern spread its way across Kas’ face as she squeezed Corvus’ paw.
“I’m fine.”
“You know you don’t have to be, right?” Kas let out a chuckle.
“I do.”

Someone tell me where this person on the forum is finding all this asura-centric storytelling and lore because I sure as hell can't find it.
Are the Asura Anet's favorite? It seems like as far back as I can remember we're being led by the nose by Asura characters and their technology and their techno-babble. Can we take a break from Asura culture, please? Just when I thought we were done with Taimi and Gorrick, you bring back Zojja. What is it with Asura favoritism? IBS was good for Norn and Charr, at least. But Sylvari seem to be totally forgotten, apart from the odd appearance from Caithe..

Uncomfortable Truths
“Corr? What is going on?”, Kying turned to his beat up friend. Confused. He spoke about an emergency - an assault. But in this place was no trace of something like this. Then Kying noticed something else,... this was the place he always met up with Val. In the past at least,...
“Exactly Corr. Tell him. What is going on”, was suddenly heard from the shadows. Valefor emerged shortly after. And as Corr backed away in fright. Kying took a step forward in irritation.
--- A few moments before
Within moments, Corr's Companion fell lifeless to the ground. They didn't stood a chance against the stranger, that came suddenly out of nowhere. Corr backed away. In his Claws holding a little Knife to protect his life. But he knew, that won’t save him. With a swift move his blade was took away, before he found himself on the ground. It was now his own Weapon, that was hold at his throat. He could feel the blade slowly cutting into his flesh.
“Interested in speaking, in exchange for your life?”. It was an offer Corr was more then willing to take. Without hesitation he started babbling, only to save his own skin.
Coward, promptly went through Valefors head. The contempt for this man grew with every second. Not only that he betrayed Kying and spoke disparagingly about him. He was a spineless rat, too.
“Well, thanks for the information,...”.  Corr gave the red furred Charr a scared smile, before he was attempting to leave. Only to find that he was still being held.
“Can,... I go?”, he stammed. A wicked, wide grin spread across the others face. “You said-”.
Valefor immediately interrupted the Charr. “I know what i said.”, he growled and leaned a little forward. “But there's one small thing, I need you to do for me.” Val’s grip tightened momentarily. Contempt boiled inside him.  He would’ve love to get rid of him right here and now. But it had to wait.
“Bring me Kying.”. Again, there was no hesitation from Corrs side. He nodded eagerly. Valefor frowned, but he kept his anger together. “And don't even think about telling anyone about this. I'll keep an eye on you.”, with that Valefor let go of Corr - with one last instruction. Valefor gave Corr a very designation place, where he should bring Kying. With that the Charr frantically stumbled away. At his heels was Valefor, keeping an eye on him from the shadows - making sure he won’t do something stupid.
Luckily for Valefor, the threat has worked.  Corr obediently complied with his request, without telling anyone. He even made sure, no one saw him and his ugly beat up face.
Nobody, but Kying. With him, he showed up at the agreed place.
---
“What is is?!”, asked Kying tensely.
Valefor ignored the Warrior. Instead, his eyes were on Corr. "Don't ask me. Ask him.".
Now Kying eyes also focused on Corr. The eyes of the supposed friends met and with that it slowly was dawning on Kying.
"What do I have to do with that now? Leave me alone!", Corr scolded, stepping back slowly.
“Corr,... what is the meaning of that?”, Kying intervened. Corr turned silent. His gaze shifted back and forward. With every second that passed without an answer, Kying seemed to break. His gaze filled with sadness, disappointment... pain,...
“Can,... Can I go now? You’ve got what you wanted from me!”.
It didn’t made sense to Kying, yet a bitter fear seemed to be confirmed. It explained the gnawing feeling he had with Corr in the past days. Something was off and now he seemed to know why - Valefor played a fucked up game with him and Corr. But the question was why? His head went spinning,... Confused Kying lashed out at Valefor in anger. He seemed to notice what was going through Kying's mind. Instead of saying anything, Valefor answered Kyings angry glare with a steady gaze, before running towards Corr and ignoring the Warrior once more.
Kying was now boiling with anger. “What the fuck is wrong with you!? You're a sick!" he scolded, while he watched Valefor catch Corr, that was about to flee. He was captured with ease and found his throat resting on a blade again. "Try to escape again and I'll make you bleed like a pig." A warning aimed solely at Corr. A cold whisper in his ear. Then he was pushed back in Kying's direction.
"It hurts me that you think that of me... but I'll ignore it for now." reploed Valefor to Kyings angry face. And it wasn't a lie, it really hurt him. At the same time, he couldn't blame the warrior. The whole situation was fucked up. Valefor felt deeply sorry for the other. Something similar happened to him, too. It ended with a knife in his chest,... A memory and a scar, that has never left him.
“Now, tell him what you told your friends so eagerly before.”. Valefor crossed his arms and waited for Corr to talk. Kying on the other hand, grew more and more confused.  And even though Corr came forward with the situation bit by bit, it was as if the words missed Kying. He was shocked and visibly overwhelmed by the situation. It was only when Corr suddenly fell lifeless to the ground, that Kying was torn out of the trance.
“Did you really have to?”, Kying muttered angrily. It was less about Corr, but more about everything else.
"Did you have to destroy that for me, too?" The words almost became a wail.
“Acting like the biggest asshole. Saying we're nothing more than strangers and now posing as a savior and friend. Just fuck off,... what a fucking joke is that...”, followed bitter.
Why does every relationship has to end in a mess for him? But in the end, it seemed to be his fault again. He knew something was off,... yet he craved for something good so badly, he closed his eyes to all the red flags. But being betrayed like this, was a new low for Kying.
“Better you know it now, than later,... when you get to close.” Valefor looked at Kying with a firm expression. It was not clear, what was going on in his head. But this lack of emotion drove Kying mad.
"What do you know?! … just,... just fuck off,...”, he spat.
Better than you think, Valefor thought to himself, but he didn't dare speak. So he turned to the lifeless body of Corr and picked him up.
"I'm sorry that it had to happen like this.". He looked back one last time, then he disappeared into the shadows as so often.
Without looking back Kying also left the place. His thoughts as heavy as his heart. He felt lost,... betrayed,... empty.
- To be continued.
--- Follow up of:
RIP Corr, your were a spineless waste of space. A pretty waste of space. I really liked your hair. Still I feel a little sorry for him in the last panel. He looks so beat up. But,... he deserved it. He was actually a piece of shit <:T
But Corr's death will have consequences. Maybe not right away, but later.
