Camelot / David Hemmings as Mordred

I must thank @northernmariette for reminding me about this costume, as I can't remember when I last saw this movie! Mordred makes his first appearance wearing this spectacular leather suit. If it were shoes, I'd call the color oxblood.

The design is sort of vaguely medieval/renaissance-ish rather than trying to reflect any particular time period. But that's appropriate for a story set in the Arthurian world, since the time period there is equally vague.

The Witch of Heart would quest on a planet similar to the Land of Clarity and Heart, reigned over by Aphrodite (Goddess of Love) or Yaldabaoth (Devourer of Souls). #thought this was a good day to post this #guinevere is such a compelling character that's been reduced to two extreme sides of an spectrum a lot of times #she's either a femme fatale or an ingenue #or simply a love interest #and all of that is SAD and BORING #she was not only a wife. she was a queen #i particularly love how this movie portrays her. yes. she makes a bad decision and does things that may not be right. #yet she is not cruel or a bad person because of it. she's flawed. #nor she is a saint- one damned or too innocent to know better that's kept by the narrative as only that. she's flawed. #she's also a tragic hero. she's not limited by black or white. she has all these beautiful and violent colors!!! #she has the power to both ruin and save herself #and i love that. she can be really interesting when writers care about her as her own character and not only as a wife or a lover. #camelot #camelot movie #camelot (1967) #camelot 1967 #arthuriana #arthurian legend #queen guinevere #guinevere #vanessa redgrave #my edit
