Barely organized Deltarune/Undertale yellow thoughts GO

because I am fucking dying to talk about this game with more people-

Some of this is also influenced by a discord server I'm in, even though I can't remember who shared some of their ideas that influenced it which i feel bad about- (Also minor warning before I get into it, this does have spoilers for stuff like the true pacifist ending, so proceed with caution.)

Theres the idea I had and really like of making the Ketsukanes the holidays in an AU like this, so you have Kanako as Noelle, Chujin as Rudy, and Ceroba as the mayor, someone else mentioned having clover be the dess, which I honestly like a lot!

Another idea is like, the Ketsukanes being the Dreemurrs, so clovers big sister Kanako is away, and either their parents are divorced, or Chujin is either fuckin dead still or just away for his engineering job a lot.

Alternatively, Kanako is just, someone who attends Asriels collage, maybe they're friends, or just acquaintances, who knows. Here, Clover would. be dead, they died like- saving people from a fire or somethin, to add another layer of tragedy to them, and also to match how in Undertale Yellow they die from self sacrifice in the true pacifist ending.

ALTERNATIVELY alternatively, clover is alive, and they're still Kanako's sibling, or just a family friend or something I dunno lol. Either way, clover themselves would actually be closer to Asriel, at least sorta (bc its cute to think they'd be genuine friends, even if in UTY Flowey is still a little bitch who was using them the whole time,

So yeah just. a bunch of random shit. If Clover isn't fuckin dead they'd still be friends with everyone, though they're now just. regular ass people. Starlo still does LARPing stuff, Dalv probably ended up helping out on the farm bc he also likes growing corn, Martlet is just a local handywoman, who's pretty good at it. Chujin is probably still an engineer, just. not making robots, maybe he makes "axis" as some kinda toy for his daughter, since he. doesn't need to make murder-bots here. He also may still die or just fall sick, but here its just something natural and not him ripping his soul apart. Axis is tough to fit in here honestly, since deltarune is more grounded, and sentient robots aren't remotely a thing, beyond darkners I guess, which granted Axis could absolutely be! If the Yellow cast somehow gets dragged into dark world stuff too.

Who is Annello?

Didn't think I'd ever have to be asked this but here goes bc I'm So Normal about them.

Ok short version: annello is a fusion of Annie and Garcello. They were created purely as a character for the song Unleashed, atsuover's mashup of Release and Animal, and they aren't canon to either the mod or the Canon lore of these 2. They almost made it into Hazy River with an updated design, remastered instrumental and new voicebank but it was scrapped. Their only presence in the mod is the icon unfortunately sjgkdjgkd

But for a longer version, the story doesn't end there.

Yeah, annello doesn't have any real lore. Except they sort of do??

Rageminer has offered some idea of how they think annello would come to exist, just keep in mind this isn't planned for any kind of official content or anything

This was stated I think once on a livestream but multiple times on Discord, that clover imagines they'd come from Annie finding Garcello while he's still all ghosty after he dies, and fusing with his ghost. The fusion would mostly be relying on Annie, and would be difficult and painful to maintain.

My interpretations usually take this in a different direction with the same basis but that's not important

Ok some extra stuff I couldn't fit in with the rest and I think is notable:

- Clover said once on discord that annello has 6 fingers, but even sprites in the video of the unused unleashed build with a new design don't have this. It was present in art by atsuover that circulated around discord while the new design was being developed, however. I think it's neat so I still draw them that way

- Yes it means they have 6 toes too

- their original voicebank was created by overlaying Garcello's normal chromatic scale (i.e. not the nerves one or the ghost ones) and Annie's updated scale. This was the first time Annie's new scale was technically used, but it wouldn't be heard on its own until Golden Arch March

- the voice from the remastered Unleashed was made by combining Clover and Anne's scales. This was done to make them sound more distinct from the 2 while still sounding like they could be a fusion of them. I personally prefer the old one but that's just me

- Annellos,, I guess associated color is yellow-orange, as seen in the Spotify art for unleashed and in art from discord or their new design

- with the new design, they got their own magic item, a canister of vapor that when opened creates clouds that produce acid rain. It can be seen in the remastered Unleashed video. This seems to be based on the Spotify art for Unleashed that shows them in the rain.

- and yes, their name is ANNELLO. A LOT of people used to mess this up, Anncello being the most common misspelling. It's been confirmed both in clovers comment on the remastered Unleashed and several times on discord that ANNELLO is the correct spelling.

- although, Garnnie was the name a lot of people, particularly the Japanese speaking part of the fandom, assumed for them and ended up being used for "failed" fusions of annello by atsuover

- and for those who are somehow still unsure, their canonical pronouns are they/them. Source: the time on discord someone tried to argue this with people and anne atsuover herself came to settle things with a screenshot of her own damn tweet about them.

I can make a separate post with a rundown of about MY interpretation of them if anyone wants but that's for another day

here’s my analysis of the v8 trailer :smirk:

ok so. the intro begins w/ the standard by roosterteeth thingy, however there’s pictures of mantle (pretty sure that’s mantle) with glitch effects which makes it appear red with burning houses and grimm. i think that alludes to remnant REALLY does not know what’s going on, since it glitches in very suddenly.

after that, it transitions into ruby, jnr + wby + oscar in a snowy place. this is probably them abt to go into battle, nothing too notable about that. then it goes into team rwby with them and their weapons and shit with their VERY VERY VERY first appearance in the show (the white/black/red/yellow trailers) in their like chest or hair or weapon or something. probably is something like they’ve been like OH YEAH i am so hot we r so cool we CAN DO SHIT!!!

next it’s ironwood like burning with I thinkkk the silhouette of atlas/mantle in him?? think it’s almost saying he is a BAD leader he is BAD he is going to die or something. also probably alludes to his fairytale (the tin man guy) idk im just getting those vibes <3 anyways it goes to clovers lucky thingy w/ the people. their leader just died so they’re all sad and angry. ALSO the five people kinda look like the five stages of grief. atleast I think so. maybe that’s what they’re representing! I don’t know man

then it goes to qrow in robyn in jail ok they’re in jail. yeah. oscar is holding his head in his hands as salem grows wings and has claws. poor guy salem leave him alone :( he’s trying his best. then it goes to the weapons of ruby & weiss and blake & yang. whiterose and bumbleby :ohyeah:. it goes to jaune holding a sword and nora and ren in the background. camera focuses on ren and nora dramatically looking at each other. they probably will get separated sometime during v8

goes to the schnee family. probably it’s like, theyve grown really apart throughout rwby. maybe they reconnect? idk man we’re only one episode in. then again when it goes to salem the schnee symbol shatters. could it be a cool transition effect? probably not it probably means they’re going to grow further apart. maybe salem does something to them

THE CHESS IMAGERY IN THE NEXT SCENE IS ACTUALLY FANTASIC. ironwood is standing there with chess pieces as salems Grimm (think of it as chess pieces) attack his chess pieces as they fall apart. the chess pieces is probably being like he’s playing “chess” with salem, and he no longer has any pieces bc NOBODY trusts him anymore. loser.

watts in jail. Pietro and penny are there, that means that penny & pietro MOST LIKELY have connections to watts. the mirror cracks behind penny, she’s probably doubting who she really is rn bc she looks down at her hands as the mirror cracks. then it’s the teams with a pink petal. even though it’s pink and starts out as a snowflake, I think it probably represents pyrrha. ren holds it in his hand tightly, and another petal goes across the screen as Nora tries to get it. it’s like no matter how hard you try ur never going 2 get pyrrha back. she is DEAD.

quick battle scene. didn’t catch anything notable during that. cinder like freezes time, then grips her Grimm arm as there r flames around her and she screams in pain. cinder is slowly becoming more grimm <3 fuck

then our main guys r standing outside of mantle (or atlas I DONT KNOW). the floor collapses under them, and there r the relics. ruby reaches out for them but fails as the Grimm arms drag her deeper into the void. I think this is mirroring that one scene in that one episode where salem falls down into the water (I DDINT NOTICE THE PARALLELS SOMEONE ELSE DID I REBLOGGED IT A BIT AGO IF U SCROLL DOWN)

then it goes to a very cool (yet BAD scene bc it implies DEATH and BAD THINGS R GOING TO HAPPEN TO THE TEAMS) scene where it’s like outlines of the people. grimm (nobody CARES abt it it literally has no significance that I can notice) penny flashing from her normal colors to red (she probably is going to get hacked or like corrupted in a way ALSO INDIDNT NOTICE THAT SOMEONE ELSE DID I DONT REMEMBER WHO BUT IF I CAN FIND THEM ILL REBLOG IT)

then it goes to rwbys weapons (this is bad :ohyeah:) and then Ruby’s weapon (think it parallels her trailer since it’s on top of a mountain)

UNDERTALE YELLOW. THIS SONG HITS ME IN THE FUCKING FEELS.

I WAS WRITING AND THEN IT CAME ON AND I HAD TO STOP WRITING BC I WAS WRITING FOR TMTS AND I LEGIT HAD TO STOP WRITING BC I STARTED CRYINGG

It's such an incredible song but it makes me a little teary every time i hear it because whenever i'm listening to it it's usually when i'm working on uty stuff, and the intro makes me so sad because of the justice motiffff

like c'mon clover you poor baby no i need to stop enjoying your funeral song

*sobs more* i get like protective every time i see clover now like i want to hug them, wrap them up in a warm blanket, and give them soup

that's how you know i find a character a trauma bean, when i want to do that to them that's how you know.

this fucking SONG makes me so sad but it's so good. just like Undertale Yellow the game. when replaying the game, I'll usually replay the Neutral Route, both for the INCREDIBLE final boss and because it makes me the least sad and frustrated. (rip martlet tho) Pacifist I'll play, and replay, but i need to take a break and cry after i finish. Genocide i will play for completion but never again. Zenith Martlet is a badass design, but her fight is actual hell. Her music (as well as Enemy Retreating and Trial by Fury) is really good too, but no, i've played the geno route once and never intend to do so again.

Flawed Pacifist I straight-up won't play. Like, i'm sorry, but even I have my limits. You're pacifistic lil baby clover for most of it, but by the end of it, clover has depressed martlet, killed ceroba, got starlo to hate them (and made starlo lose his best friend) added to asgore's guilt, and died a violent, sad death. I can't do that to myself, Star, Ceroba, Martlet, or the baby bean. like NO. Flawed Pacifist is a route I actually hate. (no hate to the devs i just really don't like that route, nothing on them.) I cannot play this route. Mainly because of Starlo hehe. I feel so bad for him. I've never played Flawed and have no intention to, i've just watched a video. Flawed Pacifist arguably leaves everyone more hurt than traditional pacifist, and it really shows just how beautifully-written messed up the game is.

I love Undertale Yellow. I really do. It's just that if I play Pacifist I start crying. Or if I listen to Undertale Yellow (song). It's that powerful and I love how perfectly this game has nailed some songs, particularly the boss themes. Guns Blazing? Showdown! ? Remedy? Forlorn? Trial by Fury? AFTERLIFE? The Specimen Themes? All INCREDIBLE, and right up there with Toby's music.

This game. I love this game.
