Have been reading your analyses since I've returned to Tumblr. Please make one of the Draupadi that we see in pop culture and the canon Draupadi, if you haven't already. Thank You so much :)

Okay! So, here I go!

So, Draupadi in pop culture is mostly two things, the shows, and the books. Let me start off with the books. I am taking three main books as base:

Karna's wife- The outcast queen: This book is based on some fictional girl named Uruvi, who is the Princess of Pukhya (ig?). She and Karna are the typical Wattpad OCs here. Draupadi here happens to be the female Arjun in Karna related stories, someone who is "jealous" of Uruvi. Uruvi happened to be involved with Arjun, beforehand, idk, am not much aware about this book. Uruvi seems to believe that the disrobing of Draupadi is a private moment b/w Karna and Drau, and that Drau is in love with him. Ugh.

Arjun-Without a doubt: DK much about this one, but apparently, Draupadi is jealous of fucking GANDIVA of all things. Oh, pls, do u srsly think that she has that to be jealous of? If I were this book's Draupadi, then I would be jealous of Nakul, for his insanely good looks-

Palace of Illusions: again, IDK much, but IK this much, that this book as well, loves to show the DrauKarn agenda. Plz. Draupadi does not need to be in love with the man who wanted her disrobed.

My conclusion, with these 3 main books, is that these authors love to degrade a perfectly fine female character. Pop culture Draupadi has ruined her image. Close your eyes and think about Draupadi, and think what you get in mind. Is she angry/short tempered? Is she always raving about her revenge? Is she being blood-thirsty? Is she being well...self righteous? Is she being jealous of her co-wives? If yes, then that is NOT her. That is a shadow, an insult. And trust me, these pop culture influences ruin your image of her to the extent that you CANNOT differentiate at all b/w the real her and the fake her.

Now, part 2, is Draupadi in the shows. *Rubs hands* now, if you like any shows, I shall tell u, this is gonna be BRUTAL. No hate is meant to any actress who has played Draupadi.

BR Chopra's Mahabharat: The first mainstream adaptation of Mahabharata on screen. In my opinion, their portrayal of Draupadi WAS , IS and WILL BE....in the finest of words, shitty. She says the word "andhe ka putra andha", she refuses to marry Karna as he is a sutaputra (We will get on that soon), and she raves about "mere kesh", and is clearly bloodthirsty. Draupadi is not even mildly disgusted or shaken by the fact that her hair is drenched in someone's blood, and it makes her come off as inhumane, arrogant and selfish. Draupadi did have a heart, and canonically, was moved by the destruction of the whole Kuru dynasty. Roopa Ganguly could have been a fantastic Drau, IF, the directors did not do this. Her friendship with Krishna receives a plus point, as does the scene which SHOWS that she is in her periods during the game of dice.

Dharmakshetra: Draupadi here is just straight up...bitchy? She is being blamed by both Kunti and Gandhari for "causing the war". Oh pls, if someone should be blamed, it is your SONS. She was the victim there. But then, honestly, this Draupadi deserves it. She roasts Arjun for not loving her, but then does the EXACT same thing with her other husbands. She roasts Yudi for "loving his brother's wife". Plz, shut your mouth bae.

Kahaani Hamaaray Mahaabharaat Ki: Yup, this was the OG spelling. They have Anita Hassandani as Draupadi, and she is....well, acting like she is a part of some random nukkad naatak. I watched one episode, and that was enough for me. If you want your sanity intact, then don't watch it.

Draupadi: This show has quite the pretty Draupadi, but here, the other Pandavas are literally getting horny over Draupadi. They show her "wedding night" with each one of them, and Arjun actually says that he was jealous of the fact that Bhima got to sleep with her. And I am jealous that you get to rest your head on Krishna's shoulder and sob, Arjun, but do you see me complaining?

Suryaputra Karna: Draupadi is fucking weird here. The scenes are copied from StarBharat, clearly, and well ah. What do I say? This show is clearly not watchable for man kind.

RadhaKrishn: eh. Copied again, from StarBharat, and they showed the andhe ka putra andha wala thing, and my feelings are terribly hurt. *sigh* if I could get this director to gamble off the whole Production House to me, then the world would have been a different place.

1. They're the og champions...very chill, very fun vibes.

2. Yaar.... I know Hyderabad is a great team and everything but.... Do you guys have to go this hard?

Watching Abhishek, our Indian player, a youngster, bat like that feels amazing tho.

3. Kolkata.... Man.

Gautam bhai aaye, and suddenly Sabka Chris Gayle bahar aagya.

I feel like sunil will take both purple and orange caps this year and gambhir bhai has already planned on picking the trophy this year so... Yea.

PS : once gautam bhai is done someone pls convince him to come as ICT's coach.

4. Chennai = 7 letters = thala for a reason.

They're doing great, but their recent performances makes me worried about what will happen to this team when Mahi Bhai retires.

If they don't start taking more responsibility now there's a good chance csk will crash land in the bottom next year. Hope thT doesn't happen tho.

5. LSG, you beauty....

They look like they are a weak team but they've defeated rcb, gt, pbks and...sabse importantly.... CSK.

But their next matches are quite tough too... So we'll see where they end up after 2 - 3 more matches.

The way kl Rahul hits sixes is just beautiful.

6. Mumbai.

I...... Have no idea what mysterious substance this management was on tbh.

If you want to remove someone from the captaincy, there's gotta be a better way to do that so the fans aren't offended and the player also isn't disrespected. Look how kohli left rcb's captaincy for example.

Then, if you wanted to look towards the future, Bumrah and Surya, both who have captained team India and have stayed with the franchise despite having so many opportunities to earn more if they leave should have been considered.

Or they could have just choosen Ishan. Just like csk and gt choose youngsters, Ishan could have been a good option too. Plus He's captained his team during u-19 in 2016.

But no. They choose Hardik.

Tbh, I feel so sorry for him cause in his mind, when MI offered him captaincy and called him back, he would have been happy to go back to his old team...like going back home.

But the sad truth is, MI management saw how successful he was in gt, winning in the first year and then reaching the finals in 2nd year....and it pissed them off that their player is doing well in some other team. So they brought him back.

Despite so much backlash from fans, so much hatred and trolling against Hardik, this shitty management never held one press conference to clear up misunderstandings and give answers to their fans honestly. Because they knew, if the truth comes out, they'll be on the receiving end of this hate.

Fuck them.

The only mistake Hardik did was leaving gt. But... Oh well.

thoughts on the big ganondorf fight(s)! i totally forgot to post them, but i got THOUGHTS INDEED.

okay first off, RLY wish we had a cooler arena for the humanoid fights. Just A Dark Room(TM) felt boring and dull. it would've been neater to slowly walk into deeper and deeper darkness, until finding a light root. then when you light it up, you're face-to-face with The Horrors(TM) (like idk a bunch of gibdo corpses, creepy gloom, whatever) and ganondorf awaiting you. and then you gotta fight in the creepy depths arena lit only by the light root with all the outside edges of the arena pitch-dark and very spooky scary. just. just anything, pls.

MY MAN CAN FLURRY RUSH OUT OF MY FLURRY RUSH?? WHAT. the way i actually screamed when i did a flurry rush (which i rarely do successfully i am SO bad at timing) and he flurry rushed out of it and beat the shit out of me. or when i'd do a flurry rush and he'd just do a sick backflip. what the fuck. why is he so AGILE.

again, HOW IS HE SO AGILE?? he is HUGE and was doing backflips and front flips and flying through the fucking air PRE-DEMON KING MAGIC FORM. if i didn't have to do the stupid army bit every time id love to just go back to watch him do his insane acrobatics.

to beat him i literally had to shove him into a corner against the wall so he'd stop back-flipping away from me. literally every time i would try to hit him he'd slow-motion backflip away and i was going to lose if i did not fudge it a little.

it took me a total of three hours-ish to beat him, including my first try. as cited to blue, i needed the following to beat him: fierce deity armor (all save for the headpiece at 3 star, headpiece at 2 star), gloom-resistant food, defense-up food, LOTS of gloom removal food, LOTS of heart-up food, and so many prayers.

OH AND I FORGOT, THE FACT HE CAN PERMANENTLY REMOVE YOUR HEARTS?? I WAS SCREAMING?? BRO WHAT THE FUCK??? if i didn't have all that fucking extra heart food he'd have KILLED ME. literally was about to go into a rage if i lost after struggling SO hard.

the dragon fight was super fun and i found it very rewarding, personally, after getting my ass beaten into a blood stain. i honestly don't mind a super easy final fight after a really hard fight, it feels like a lil 'u did it!' final lap.

all in all, i was caught between being SUPER pleased at how hard he was and how they made him rightfully super tough, and also dying because PLEASE nintendo i JUST want to see the last few cutscenes my GOD.

not ganondorf related, but i did like how the game ends with link finally being able to grab zelda, and it was nice to yknow, do it urself. i almost wanted to see what happens if u let zelda go splat but i didnt wanna replay the boss fights if it restarted u. STILL do not like everybody swearing fealty, i didn't like it with the og sages and rauru, ESPECIALLY did not vibe with it and zelda.

idk how to exactly put it into words, it just puts everyone on a subservient level to her when they rly should be kicking the outdated monarchy system to the curb and functioning as equals each trying to boost up their individual societies and hyrule as a whole. but it was rly funny to see link wearing his usual resting bitch face while everyone else is fumbling thru their vow.

So I thought of this : Imagine if quirkless people had a things, a sort of ritual, that one would do when they were going to end their life its like super simple juste light a white candle (I hadn't though of the implication so far but I was thinking something like to represent those who went before them those still living and those that would follows it that makes sense ?) Imagine Izuku that was just told by Bakugou ukw and All Might saying No u can't be a Hero ? Whitout going into details Izuku does the candle things but before he dies the candle juste burst to life and saves him in a burst of lights ((I should draw that ....)) and it's a crossover it is NOT an AU

In this crossover... Izuku is a direct descendent of Mirabel. Madrigal, Midoryia same thing. And when Izuku did what he did the Miracle of familia Madrigal protected him like it protected them before. Izuku was saved by the Miracle but the Miracle is directly linked to him now and thats mean that now he can use the powers of the miracle. And he can see the Madrigals too and can interact with them and that the story of how Izuku Midoryia gots his quirk and got trained by ghost of his ancestors.

Imagine how he would pass the entrance exam the physical portion part would be something to watch for sure because he use a lot of different things while the only information they have on the quirk is that it's called somethings like legacy or Madrigal's legacy and All might thinks that AFO is behind it because it is not normal blablba. So he really does a good impression etc (specially Nezu that boy smart and he knows it)

the drawbacks of Legacy are things like migraines, sensory overlord, sore muscle to the point he can't move etc he has drawback for almost all gifts because while the Madrigal's lived with their power for years etc he just got them. + He has to shape up a lot for Luisa's gift and he can't use it often so he doesn't rely on it.

Yess of course🤭 happy to help fuel the fire for Milo’s characters😮‍💨 And exactly!! Kirby is the movie geek of Scream. no contest. I genuinely like that she fits the role but is also her own character in other ways. She pursues a (fake) love interest, we see her house and her personality as a movie geek is tested (and she is proven to be wrong towards the end.) Which is muchhh different than randy who felt like this invincible God at times, helping Sidney with his over the top knowledge of the movies (even more so when he literally goes with her to college and all). Plus, he’s so intense about them that it’s almost comedic. Yeah, her and Anika’s relationship was definitely good in 6, I just wish they didn’t use Anika as one of the only “major” deaths of that movie😭 I totally agree with Chad, he survived these major bleed outs and gets stabbed so much, yet Dewey was stabbed less and to a lesser severity and died?? Insane.

Exactly! I kind of saw it in Wally because it’s supposed to be a mystery and there are times where he feels almost apathetic to Maddy’s issues, especially when she’s so concerned with the human world that she forgets about him and the rest of the ghosts. I like that they didn’t make him the “villain” (since they’re multiple) but there were layers there that could be expanded in his other roles. I can’t wait to see him finally act as one🫣 maybe in a thanksgiving sequel… one day.. I’ll watch It’s a Wonderful Knife first then!! Exactly, Tommy > Eddie just saying. I found him to be more interesting and having better, hotter dynamics with Steve and Billy over Eddie. Honestly, Saw I has the worst rewatch ability out of any Saw movie because it’s not a fun gorefest like Saw II and beyond, and the twist isn’t really all that crazy after you know what it is. It ends up feeling boring but I can appreciate it🫡 Jigsaw being last is so real. It had potential going into it but the twists suck and the first guy “dying” in that room with the buckets on their heads and the saws made me realize I was going to have some sort of problem with it.

Yesss and it feels like less work went into developing the characters in TQ (even though Jacob is my favorite for being the most flawed of the bunch), there isn’t the same level of quality that UD has. Presentation-wise, it’s better and I found less technical glitches during my multiple playthroughs of the quarry, but yeah… still feels really flat. Yes ugh i hate that “reader” is synonymous with White/straight/female (usually those three specifically) and anything else needs specification. Curse my inability to throw a challenge! By winning this challenge, OG Tromoya will be at a numbers disadvantage at the merge which could be pretty bad. Honestly, I can definitely see Bethany flipping back to her OG tribe. So, I am thinking that we should throw the next challenge to get her out? Of course, this means that the Tromoya on the other tribe (Zach or Arvin) is highly likely to be the one that flipped. Honestly my mindset is if they vote out Zach I should throw and get out Bethany, but if they vote out Arvin then I should not throw so they can take out Zach.

Again Hidra’s tribal council is split votes and another Tromoya goes home. I’m so disappointment that Julia went home and AJ couldn’t keep her promise to protect her. Also hearing Arvin’s voice sounding so defeated like that just heartbreaking 💔

I honestly think it’s Zach who flipped at one point and then I thought it was Julia but now I’m thinking it’s Zach again. I mean we were never close to begin with and haven’t had much talk.

Alright so I need you to know that I didn’t really understand what this little confession thing was supposed to be but I went and looked at past seasons and now I know and feel so so so so embarrassed by my previous answers lol lol lol. We DOMINATED the sticker challenge and I was so proud I got the first point. I think we can keep riding this high till the merge and at that point…. I’m scared to see what will happen.

We lost again to literally no one's surprise. But honestly it’s really tough to lose so many times in a row. It really hurts morale. Especially when I know for a fact that I’m doing all I can for these challenges so we can get a day off. I’m staying up through the night, I’m putting my all in for each challenge, I’m making sure to read and clarify the rules as best I can for others. And it sucks to be putting in this much effort and still coming up short because other tribe members aren’t dedicating as much to this.

I’m really praying I make it to merge. Really truly praying. Because I feel like with how much effort I put into each of these challenges, doing them individually I’d have a higher chance of success than we’ve currently gotten. Fingers crossed I don’t get blindsided, I don’t think I will but I can only hope. The next challenge we’ve got the equivalent of a 10% disadvantage between us and the other tribe, BUT, it’s a challenge I know in my gut we’ll be good at.

So ever since we have swapped I’ve been trying to make it a priority to build a relationship with Raffy and it took time but it’s finally starting to work! He seems to be telling people that he likes me now and I think that he is a good person to have your side in the game. He seems to have a good amount of sway which obvi makes him a threat so I am weary but right now I just don’t see him going anywhere no matter what I do so I might aswell make something work

I felt kind of left out of this last challenge since my strategy was to not talk much in the sticker group chat so the other team would sticker me. However I only got stickered once, lol. Whelp. I didn’t get to talk much to the other team members from Hidra that I haven’t met yet. Idk if that’s a good or a bad thing. I definitely feel like I’m under the radar rn but can’t say for sure. This challenge took me back to tug of war flashbacks of anxiety and alarms every 30 min however not so intense lol. Did have a mini heart attack when Raffy called me to let me know I was stuck but my body was in game mode and woke up almost instantly 😂 Love my tribe and their determination to keep killing it in these challenges!!! Woooo 🎉 I’m thinking Arvin or Zach will be the ones to go unfortunately but considering they turned on each other after tribe swap I’m not very concerned about it tbh. Once again, AJ and I are on the same wavelength. Last night, I realized that she has the old Hidra idol. There's no way it's not her. She searched near camp, had to insert a weird phrase into the main tribe chat, then claimed someone else had gotten there before her. Then for the next vote seemed unbothered about the idol, like saying probably nobody had one. There was too much going on for me to connect the dots, but now I realize- if someone else had gotten there first, they would have ALSO had to insert a weird phrase into the group chat. And nobody else did, I'd remember.

This morning I woke up to a message from AJ asking if I'd tell her if I had an idol. I DO have an idol, but no I wouldn't tell her lol since she hasn't told me. I'm 99% sure we both have idols which is hilarious.

Also- Toni messaged the vecepia chat (me, Jinx, Toni) about how iconic it would be if 3 Black girls made it to final tribal, which I'm interpreting as "hey don't forget this main alliance, and also AJ isn't coming with us." yesterday, raffy was telling tyler that i'm "sketchy" and brandi was telling champ that i'm "distant"

let's break down all the reasons that annoys me!! 1) hairie is the only og tromoya to EVER reach out to me first. we have been on this tribe for a week at this point. but i'm the one that is distant???? make it make sense. 2) I HAVE DONE NOTHING SKETCHY i literally have been so open whenever i am asked about the game, and i'm not even doing anything. i'm literally just standing here. existing. but nooooooo there's a spooky non-men hidra alliance so i'm sketchy just because i am a woman from hidra despite the fact that logically, i would have no incentive to team back up with them when they will be in the minority.

but with the way i am being treated on this tribe, they are giving me 0 incentive to stick with them at the merge if we win the next challenge! i will immediately be throwing esteban and every single og tromoya under the bus if things don't change real quick and praying that one of the hidras who stayed on hidra have an idol honestly because this is wack and i don't just want to stay on the bottom all game long not even having fun. so tbh they should hope that we do go to tribal and that they do vote me off because otherwise, i'm not going to be a number for them and i will do whatever i can to put a target on every single one of their backs. and i have enough info from champ to do that, with some embellishing of course :) i'd rather shake things up than just waiting around to be voted off after doing other people's bidding who have given me 0 reason to ever trust them once we do merge.

You know my worst fear for Jikook would be new Army's coming in now & instantly being hit with the TK algorithm & now more then ever, cause of the current situations, it is gonna be a hell of a lot more easier to convince new people, TK are a couple and Jikook don't even hang out & are rarely friends. I mean nowadays these new fans don't do their own research. They just fall into the shipperverse & rely on shippers. I saw recently a new tkk of about 6 months, had no clue Tae posted the get out of your imagination on weverse, cause they never bothered to watch OG content. I saw another claiming the VK sign TKK use as the cult symbol in their bios was created together by TK. They don't even know That was what Tae did for Vante & has nothing to do with JK or TK. And when you try to tell them the truth, they don't want to hear it or call you a liar.

I even see Jikook support dying. Channels are closing. They're leaving. So when BTS comes back, its gonna be worse then it is now for Jikook, cause more likely TK will overlap their releases & promo together & that's just gonna draw in more fans for them & shippers. Unlike his counterparts, he doesn't leave the house(besides if the bloodlust grew stronger, then he would reluctantly go)and would stare at you across your bedroom. He has separation anxiety, so that explains why he's afraid of not being near you.

!!! these are very good questions. i'm uhhhh a little conflicted about the whole thing, here's too many words about it (under a readmore for folks who are avoiding redemption talk):

honestly i think the main reason i was initially so negatively affected by redemption is that i watched it all in one day, and a lot of the things that bothered me were in the last couple of episodes. so it all felt REALLY condensed, and the disappointing things were the most fresh in my mind when i was finished. oof. if i could do it over, i would take my time with it instead.

overall, i actually really loved 1b of redemption!! i had a ton of fun with it and it felt a lot more like og leverage vibes-wise than 1a. I love harry and i LOVE breanna and i really really enjoyed a lot of the episode premises in this half (there were a few where i was like...this is exactly the kind of thing i've been wishing there was a leverage ep about and i am Experiencing Catharsis)

the season as a whole was really enjoyable for me, and there are a few episodes that i think might be as rewatchable as original leverage, which is cool. it was more big picture character arc/characterization stuff that genuinely bothered me, and due to the nature of what redemption was really focusing on this season (introducing new characters, finding their footing again, etc) those parts were really not a huge part of the actual viewing experience, percentage-of-content-wise.

deep sigh. that being said.

i don't think it Ruined Leverage for me...but for a few days afterwards i definitely did have a bit of a spiral about it. just lyin on the floor like...does this ruin these characters for me. does this lessen my enjoyment of the original series. do i still want my nanowrimo project to be leverage-based. do i want to keep writing fic for this television show at all

the parts i'm grumpy about were small, but they were important to Me. leverage has been such a joy and a comfort since i stumbled upon it, and has been getting me through quarantine, and got me to try writing fic for the first time because it gave me Big Thoughts And Feelings the first time i watched it

and while i really tried to keep my expectations very low for redemption, there was a vague feeling of like...oh. i feel kind of? stupid? for having put energy into this? and for expecting more than this? because what they're making is not going to be like what fandom has built together out of love. the cautious first season of an amazon prime reboot is not necessarily going to have the same depth and feeling and love behind it as an old show that has—in part due to being Over and available for Endless Nostalgic Analysis And Interpretation—been very stable ground to build upon for years, or as the fanon that's come from that.

(this feeling is not 100% gone, and i don't think i'm alone in struggling with redemption; i'd never seen a fix-it-fic for leverage Until This Week, and i'm sure there are going to be more to follow.)

anyway. i've been conflicted about it!!!!

what i've settled on is that it very much does not Ruin Leverage for me, because original leverage is always going to be there, and so is the decade of fan content that's come after it, and so is the fandom. i've gone the comics fandom route of Seeing the Separation. it's not More Original Leverage; it's one creative team's well-meaning (if clumsy) take on post-canon content that got put into production. it can't ruin leverage any more than a really popular ooc fanfic can ruin leverage.

there are genuinely a lot of really Good, solid, touching moments in redemption, and even if some parts are...bewilderingly executed and irritating and just Unfortunately Done, i would still say that if there's any part of you that wants to watch it, 4 fun and enjoyment, you should watch it. it's fun, it's a good show, it's still enjoyable, and fandom's already picking it apart for Useful Scraps as we speak.

if u actually read all of that...you're very cool and i wish you luck. i would just say go into it with realistic expectations; it's not 100% old leverage, it's not fanon, it's coming to the table with the buckwild takes of a creative team that had these ideas for season 6 character arcs 8 years ago and thinks they're still 1) relevant 2) necessary and 3) fitting with the trajectory of the original series despite this.
