Song Inspired Shorts Masterlist
She took my arm, I don't know how it happened, We took the floor and she said, Oh don't you dare look back, Just keep your eyes on me, I said you're holding back, She said shut up and dance with me, This woman is my destiny, She said oh oh oh, Shut up and dance with me
Kuai observed the party with a smile. Shinnok had been defeated, the world was safe once more. He was not the biggest fan of parties, but even he had to admit it was nice to be able to celebrate with his friends. He was so proud of the kids, Takeda, Satoshi and Frost were a given, since he'd had a hand in raising all three of them, but he was equally as proud of Cassie, Jacqui and Jin. They had all faced great adversary and triumphed. Who wouldn't be proud?
He stood to the sidelines a little, wine glass in hand, watching the party go down. Hanzo was talking to Takeda, Kenshi, Jacqui and Jax, given how Hanzo was standing straight with a large grin it was likely to do with the events leading to Shinnok's defeat. Frost was with Cassie, the taller blonde having her arm slung over Frost's shoulders, while they talked with Johnny and Sonya. Meanwhile Jin and Satoshi were talking with Fujin.
Kuai blinked and scanned the room again. Where's Harumi got to?
He got his answer almost immediately when he felt a hand slap his ass from behind.
"Harumi!" He turned around to look at her, she was grinning widely. He shook his head, "will you please behave."
"Aw, where's the fun in that?" She said, hand still hovering over his backside. "How are you enjoying the party, love?"
"Not as bad as I normally find them," Kuai admitted, looking around again. He snorted slightly when he noticed Jin having picked Satoshi up bridal style. Satoshi's face was bright red. He leaned into Harumi, "do you think-"
"Yes. Definitely," she chuckled before he could finish the question. He laughed as he took a final sip of his wine and put the glass on the table. "All our babies have grown up."
Kuai looked between their three children again. It felt like a lifetime ago now that Satoshi had called him dad for the first time. So long since they accepted Takeda and Frost into the family. He was getting misty eyed just thinking of it.
"We did a good job," he stated. He felt Harumi's hand reach his shoulder and give it a squeeze. The song playing suddenly changed, and Kuai couldn't help but tilt his head slightly in recognition. "Isn't this your favourite?"
"It is," Harumi beamed, before hooking her arm between his, and pulling him across the floor.
He yelped in surprise, but didn't stop her. Harumi was surprisingly strong when she wanted to be. She dragged him to the dance floor, placing herself in front of him and grabbing his hands. He swallowed, he really wasn't much of a dancer. He tried to look over his shoulder to look for Hanzo, but felt Harumi's hand grip his chin.
"Don't you dare look back," she lightly warned, "just keep your eyes on me."
She wrapped an arm around his waist and she began to move in time to the rhythm. Kuai was a little stunned, but slowly began to realise Harumi wasn't going as hard as she usually would.
"Your holding back," he commented. He almost regretted it when she jerked him forward.
"Shut up and dance with me~"
Everything got a lot more lively after that point. Kuai was pulled and pushed around too fast for him to even consider what it looked like to anyone else or if it could even be considering dancing. Harumi was far too lost in the music to care, and soon Kuai felt himself let go. He kept his eyes on her like she said, not that he'd want to look anywhere else. Maybe they were all getting older, but you wouldn't think it to look at them. A few grey hairs here and there were nothing.
He wasn't sure how long it was before he felt another pair of arms reach around his waist, a chest flush against his back and a head resting on his shoulder.
"Did you two really think you could get away with dancing without me?" Hanzo asked, breath hot against Kuai's neck. He couldn't quite see the other mans face, but he could feel his smile against his skin.
"How can we dance as a trio?" Kuai asked. He may have been able to see Hanzo's face, but he could definitely see Harumi's. She was clearly having a silent conversation with Hanzo, as a smirk graced her lips.
And then she moved forward, wrapped her arms around both himself and Hanzo, while Hanzo did something similar, effectively trapping him between them. He squeaked, managing to just about twist his arms out from between them. He settled one hand on Harumi's arm and reached the other behind Hanzo's neck.
As they began to move, Kuai had no doubt they looked ridiculous. Yet he simply did not care. In that moment, everything was perfect, the world was safe, their children were happy, and he was in the embrace of the two people he loved.
These two are my destiny.
Everything was perfect.

SLBP “Transcendent Pleasure” Event Review
For all the sultriness of this latest SLBP event, it was a little shocking to me how new to the relationship MC and her warlords were supposed to be! :) Anyway, here are my quick thoughts, from least to most favorite story:
Tumblr media
I really wanted to 100% love Hideyoshi’s route considering how much of a babe he is in Inuchiyo’s MS, but alas, it features one of my least favorite tropes in a story: jealousy. MC’s been tasked with secretly finding a gift for H, and while wandering about town she follows Hideyoshi into a shady establishment in the “pleasure district” after seeing him enter with a pretty lady (spoiler: it’s innocent). But according to Kyoichiro the ultimate reverse weaboo, the place is actually a respectable business that specializes in luxury European goods. ...Let’s just ignore the super flirtatious barkers and the private rooms that clients are led to, lol. Anyways, when Hideyoshi catches MC and Kyo in an accidentally compromising position, he 1) gets pissed/hurt, 2) drags MC into a storage room, and 3) aggressively kisses the secret out of MC while she’s up against the wall (!!). Truth is, I thought this scene was pretty hot (and MC thought so too). But... it also doesn’t really seem like a sensible reaction if you suspect your gf is cheating, yanno? That said, Hideyoshi does apologize later for overreacting very eloquently, and the route ends on a high note: “Anything else you’re hiding from me?” “Hm, who can say? Perhaps you’d better investigate.”
Anyway, boys and girls, the moral of the story seems to be: don’t keep secrets. As far as jealousy stories go, this was a pretty entertaining one, and MC and Hideyoshi both had valid reasons to be suspicious. And aggressive H is quite sexy imho. But I definitely think there are better Hideyoshi ES’s out there!
Personal enjoyment: 6.5/10
Tumblr media
Kenshin’s story is fun. In this ES, a very pretty, very flirty dancer lady named Okuni is in town, and she wants the chance to perform for the locals. Girl doesn’t hesitate to secretly befriend MC, taking her out for tea, calling her out on her lack of physical contact with Kenshin...even teaching MC how to sexy dance so that MC can perform for Kenshin on the day of the performance! Despite constantly flirting with Kenshin, it definitely seems like Okuni’s just interested in spurring MC on to greater heights: “Did you want me to be the one tempting him again, then?” But after watching MC dance, turns out Okuni’s interest in MC isn’t purely platonic. And then the great reveal: Okuni is biologically a man, who is happy being considered as either a man or a woman! Because, of course. I saw it coming from a mile away, but still! Okuni’s conversation with Kenshin post-reveal does produce some great dialogue (O: “So gender isn’t an issue for you?” K: “Not at all”). Never change, Kenshin. 💕
So, I absolutely adored Okuni. Every aspect of the character was fantastic, from the cross dressing (!!) to the feminine sexiness. But considering the fact that SLBP’s pulled the same cross dressing trick on us at least thrice so far by my count, I can’t help but wish that Okuni was simply a super sexy woman with a genuine interest for MC! That’s never happened before, and it’d be so amazing (especially given how mesmerized MC was with Okuni, haha). ^_^ In any case, wishful thinking aside, I did enjoy this fun story as it is!
Personal enjoyment: 7.5/10
Tumblr media
I don’t know what kind of bizarro universe we’re living in because Ieyasu’s story is incredible, and not because of some tanuki gimmick either. This ES is all about relationship development: MC starts hurt that Ieyasu’s skittish about being touched. But he makes up for it by being uncharacteristically tender, tucking MC’s hair behind her ear, etc. And when Hanzo, who knows what’s up, sends an oblivious MC to help out at the kitchens of a brothel like the snake he is, Ieyasu tracks MC down with impressive focus (fleeing from determined hookers! lol). Our couple finds themselves trapped in a hot room overnight, and Ieyasu bares his vulnerabilities to MC in the absolute best way (“I hate being touched by other people. It makes me feel awful. ...Or so I thought”)!
My friends, this is the first time I have ever found Ieyasu’s actions attractive! His insults in this story were hilarious instead of offensive. He was prickly and snarky, but also obviously caring and protective. Heck, he was even kind of sexy with all the times he kissed MC! If only we could bottle up this version of Ieyasu forever and get rid of the other one ^_^ Anyways, Ieyasu aside, I thought the plot was exciting and the dialogue was fantastic. Overall, I loved this ES!
Some of my favorite lines/scenes:
Ieyasu’s hilariously over-the-top reaction to the hookers: “Cease that...if you touch me, I’ll kill you.”
“Why are you smiling so goofily? Are you like that other deviant? The one who gets off on pain?”
Hanzo, gaining the trust of a cat through suspicious means, and petting said cat when greeting Ieyasu and MC after their night out like a villain
Ieyasu’s reaction to Hanzo in general (“I’ll kill him. ...That no-good, pox-ridden snake”) 😂
Personal enjoyment: 10/10
Overall, I really enjoyed this event! It was fun, and a welcome break from all the wedding stuff! What did the rest of you think? :)

Genji
Tumblr media
Surprise.
The emotion of pure surprise took home on his facial features as he stared at the strange scene before him as he stood in the doorway of the living room, his faceplate in hand as he curiously watched you. You stood in the middle of the lounging area, the coffee table moved off to the side, along with the sofa and chair – any breakable object nowhere in sight. You wore your usual everyday-clothing, which consisted of a pair of over-sized sweatpants and a random t-shirt you pulled out of your closet. One thing that was, most definitely, not apart of your usual clothing was the horse mask that covered your head.
You held a broom tightly in your hand, swinging it around, practically intimating Genji whenever he used his katana with his ultimate ability in the mist of battle. You stumbled every so often when the poll came into contact with the side of your thigh.
‘So that’s where the bruises come from.’ The cyborg thought to himself softly chuckling, hoping that he didn’t catch your attention.
You winced, lightly massaging the area, your eyebrows pulled together as you ignored the aching pulse. As it dissipated, you began to twirl the broom once again, lunging the bristled end forward, as if you were attacking someone.
“Ha ha! I’m the victorious one!” You exclaimed cheerfully, holding the broom above your head, your speak extremely formal compared to how you normally spoke, causing Genji to break out into laughter, a tear falling from his eye.
Slowly, you pulled the mask off your head, your hair full of static as you turned to face him, shoulders stiff with embarrassment as your face heated up with a bright red blush.
“Don’t laugh at me, Genji!” You cried, dropping the mask and broom, your hands being placed on your cheeks as you tried to hide yourself, your bottom lip pouted.
“I’m sorry, dear. You’re just too cute.” He smiled, walking into the living room, wrapping his arms around you and placing his head on top of yours before placing a kiss on your forehead, “You never seem to stop amazing me everyday.”
“I could say the same to you.” You smiled as your arms made way around him, hugging him tightly.
Hanzo
Tumblr media
This was definitely not the ‘welcome home’ he was expecting.
He was presuming that you’d be half asleep in bed, awaiting his return patiently, refusing to succumb to the need of sleep. Instead, he was faced with you wearing a horse mask on, holding a broom as if it were a spear, spinning the poll around between your fingers.
He was quite content with watching you as you enjoyed yourself.
You made exaggerated grunts, stumbling as though you had been hit before brushing it off and, once again, swinging around the broom. You were obviously enjoying yourself as you laughed happily, muttering something about “I’ll never be taken down.” to yourself as you fell down to the pillows that were scattered across the floor between the two sofas – the coffee table pushed away from you, far enough for you to not hurt yourself if you accidentally kick your legs; you made sure to take the extra precaution since the last time you did this, you slammed your toe into the leg of the short table.
Hanzo was significantly amused by your actions; oh, how dearly he missed you whilst he was deployed on a mission for the duration of a month – he had little to know contact with you during the time and he longed to hold you close immensely, how did he survive without waking up beside you every morning?
He cleared his throat, stepping away from the entryway, the floor creaking beneath his weight, making his presence known. You quickly stopped all movement, spinning on your heel to face your lover.
“Hanzo!” You smiled brightly, forgetting you had the mask on for a moment before pulling it off, messing up your hair, but it went completely over your head – you hadn’t see the archer in a month, the appearance of your hair wasn’t even worth worrying over, “I missed you!” You exclaimed, dropping the mask and broom to the floor before rushing to Hanzo, jumping up into his open arms.
You wrapped your arms around his neck, burying your face into his shoulder as tears filled your line of sight. He held you close as you hooked you feet behind his back. Your scent filled his nose, giving him a sense of ease – he was home now, he didn’t have to worry anymore.
“I missed you too.” He murmured into your ear, giving the patch of skin beneath your ear a kiss, his grip on you tightening as if you’d suddenly vanish from his grasp.
“I don’t know how I lived so long without you.” Your words were muffled, but still audible.
“I feel the same, as well. I longed to wake up beside you, but, instead, I was met with Jesse’s putrid morning breath.” You giggled, pulling away, your eyes meeting; you leaned forward, capturing his lips into a sweet kiss, your lips curling upward as Hanzo mirrored your movement.

guess who’s back for hot milkies!
I haven’t quite finished the last chapter to Hot Milky, which frankly isn’t very good lol, but I wanted to let you know I have been working on it off and on the past 2 years. Here’s a preview under the cut. 1,679 words, enjoy!
Genji was torn between trying to convince Hanzo to stay, remain the selfish boy he used to be, and helping him leave, as he should if he were the honorable sibling he wished Hanzo could see. That one second of indecision somehow prompted the arrival of McCree at the doorway to Hana’s den, complete with triumphant grin and the accompaniment of his charges, Junkrat and Roadhog. Everyone turned to look at the trio in confusion and Hana said brightly, “Hey, Jesse, you just missed Genji getting his ass definitively kicked!”
“Ain’t that right? Well, there’s always another day.” McCree glanced over at Genji and Hanzo, his smile sunny and warm and ever so deadly.  “Always another chance to redeem yourself, eh?”
Genji straightened from his loser’s slump with an indignant sound.  Before he could say anything in his defense, he noticed out of the corner of his vision Hanzo stilling, then tilting his chin up and back slightly in a familiar gesture out of their childhood.  At once, Genji took on a defensive position that matched his brother’s. McCree shook his head exasperatedly and just like that the environment in the den filled with that sort of chaotic barely-contained energy found in the simulation room right before Winston pressed the start button to the AI and unleashed robot hell upon the members of Overwatch.
In a matter of nanoseconds, the brothers completed the mad scramble out the nearest window, made a touch difficult by the breadth of their brawny shoulders, followed by an exhilarating climb up the sheer side of the building.  “Just like when we were boys” came to Hanzo’s mind again, this time in a much more light-hearted situation.  Some distance below, Jesse and Hana had poked their heads out the window, hollering at the fleeing duo but unable to get Roadhog or Junkrat to their aid. Any further babble was cut off by an explosion of hard light and more screaming from everyone except Satya.  At that point, the brothers finally reached the summit of the cliff wall, their escape from the insanity achieved.
They were not alone, as was usually the case within the borders of Watchpoint, for Zarya had just finished a brief perimeter rooftop check and was now going down to investigate the ruckus below.  Her sharp eyes caught Hanzo and Genji sliding over the wall and pooling onto the ground in giddy relief.
“What are you two doing up here?” she asked, paused and now regarding them suspiciously.
“We’re just practicing… ninja sorts of things,” Genji answered, as innocently as he could manage. “You know?”
Zarya gave them a look that said in as many words, “I don’t know enough about ninjas to know if you’re telling the truth or not.”  Another explosion shook the foundations, more yelling, and deciding that questioning the two would be of less use than supporting whatever was going on within the base, Zarya hurried down the stairs.
“That was close!”
“Too close,” Hanzo muttered, the high of the climb hundreds of meters above the ocean with nary a handhold quickly wearing off.  “We will be caught, sooner or later, Genji.  This place is a trap filled with absolutely uncontrollable thugs and lunatics.”
“Hey, Satya helped us get away, so technically one of them is a lunatic on our side.”
Hanzo rolled his eyes, for he had clearly heard Satya state her intention to kill each and every one of her fellow teammates several times over perhaps almost as often as he had, but instead of saying anything, he scurried to the other trapdoor and the ladder there. “I have most of my things with me, but we will need to hurry. The bounties have become the bounty hunters, and I don’t intend to be captured for their nefarious purposes.”
“What nefarious purposes?” Genji asked, leading the way through the storage room by the light of his visor.  “Are you still nervous about a simple check-up, anija?”  He tittered at the thought of Mercy commanding McCree and Jamison and Mako about like some sort of warrior goddess directing her high priests.
“Yes!” Hanzo clutched at his jacket fretfully.  “This is not the time to be joking around!  Help me escape, Genji.”
“And what do I get in return?” Genji retorted, stopping in the hallway and folding his arms childishly.
“You!  I will throw you out the window and off the side of this cliff right now.”
“Fine.”  He could do so quite easily after all.  “We’ll rendezvous at the aircraft hanger, the security is weakest there.”  With no further comment, Genji led the way to a little-used corridor that could be their best bet to slip out of Watchpoint.
Although that did not address the fact that Athena may not allow them past the perimeter, nor the valid concern that Overwatch will not easily let a potential member roam free, knowing its secrets.  If anything, Overwatch would likely increase their efforts to (re-)capture Hanzo.  But for now, a breath of the outside air, a moment away from the weight of the world and expectations, a minute to just be free and safe and together before they must return to reality.  Genji would do anything to make that happen for his brother.
Even if it meant blocking McCree with his drawn oodachi so Hanzo could slide past them.  Tossing shurikens at the two junkers and at the bystanders gawping at the clash to buy his brother more time to jump off a startled Reinhardt’s shoulders and up into the air duct which really shouldn’t have fit him at all.  Darting through maze-like hallways, throwing over his shoulder not the stereotypical ninja smoke bombs but a handful of glitter projection devices that gave off a burst of pink confetti and displayed Hana’s smiling face sparkling in mid-air (very cute) which he snatched from her gaming den after the tournament to distract Soldier76 from tracking them down.  Cyborg he may have become, but the rush of blood through Genji’s ears and into his chest seemed to thrum as if he were a boy again, and his face split into a grin beneath his mask.  Hanzo had dropped out of the air duct into the hall in front of him and together, they raced for the exit.
They reached the hanger unimpeded, Hanzo following after Genji scanned ahead to make sure no one else from the team lay in wait amidst the tiny fleet of aircraft.
“So are you going to fly out of here?” Genji asked as they approached the jet Lena used to fly.
“These aircraft will be locked down, I wouldn’t have access to the controls as a temporary member,” Hanzo murmured.  “I will be leaving on foot.”
“On foot?  They can catch up to you, anija!”
“Perhaps.”  Hanzo did not sound too bothered by this.  “As long as it is not right away…  That is all I need.”
“I understand…”
Hanzo stepped toward to the far exit, a simple push door that led outside of the base proper.  He saw the flicker of red light just in time and dropped to the ground while Genji, ever swift, darted in front of him. It wasn’t a bullet, otherwise they would have been dead from the accuracy of the shot.  Genji grabbed the needle-tipped projectile out of the air, just as it was about to slide into Hanzo’s neck.
The sound of reloading and another shot thunked uselessly off Genji’s left shoulder.  Knowing it was a sniper, Hanzo pulled Genji close and frantically searched the aircraft, the scaffolding, any tall secluded point where one of his kind would lay in wait.
Overwatch did not have a sniper in their ranks, not for many years… but that style of shooting, that kind of ammunition…  As isolated as he was during his years of wandering, he of course recognized the sniper playing with them.  So did Genji, it seem.
“Anija, anija, it’s okay,” he said quietly.  “Just a warning shot.  She won’t hurt us that much.”
“The Shrike,” Hanzo muttered, still tense, still trying to cover Genji’s body with his own even though Genji had a lot less soft mushy parts to pierce with a syringe.  A big brother’s habit.  “You don’t know them, they are one of the most accomplished snipers in the world.”
“The Shrike?  But… surely that’s Captain Amari…” Genji stared at the needle and syringe in his hand, realizing what he said could not be true. Then again, he began to learn that whoever died did not always stay dead, not if they were needed.
Distracted momentarily, they did not notice a delicate shadow alight on the ground from a distant fire escape heading towards them with deliberate steps.  Hanzo began to back away once he finally tracked the sniper’s movement, keeping Genji behind him.
“What do you want?” Hanzo asked, his tone and stance indicating that if it was Genji they wanted, they would have to get through him first.
The figure paused, assessing them, then stepped forward into a circle of light.  An elderly woman, slight build but with a proud bearing, a patch over one eye, carrying a magnificent custom sniper rifle.
“You are the Shrike?” he asked tensely.
The woman nodded at him, smiling peacefully though not letting go of her rifle.  “Hello.  It is good to finally meet a rival, Hanzo.”
“A-are you not… Ana Amari?” Genji asked in a faltering tone, unable to believe his eyes.  Everything about this woman he had never seen before, and yet he knew her somehow, as closely as he knew McCree, as deeply as he knew Soldier76 who was obviously Jack Morrison, who did he think he was fooling anyway.  “Aren’t you dead?”
“That Captain Amari you knew… has indeed passed away.  But I still know you, Genji, and you know me, don’t you?”
“How?  All of this time?” His mind spun, trying to process this revelation.
“I will explain, Jack apparently did nothing of the sort.  But you two, where are you going?  Won’t you stay and help this old woman find some rest?”

K, M, N, & Q for the fanfic asks!
I’m gonna answer K behind a cut since it’s got a couple spoilers for things I’ve written, so these are a teensy bit out of order. :)
M: Got any premises on the back burner that you’d care to share?
I do have one idea that was once going to be part of the original ending to TSatS. It is nothing like the fic is at this point, because it’s a lot more lighthearted than I thought really fit when I started taking certain parts of the fic more seriously, so I scrapped it entirely, but it could absolutely be its own story and I’ve held onto the parts I wrote to make them one day workable, hah. It involves a mission with just the two of them and possible Only One Bed shenanigans, antique stores, awkward drunk talks, and a bar shootout in a small town. Also bad diner food, but I cribbed from some of that for the roadtrip fic I wrote.
N: Is there a fic you wish someone else would write (or finish) for you?
Lmao, all of them. Honestly most of the things I write are out of some “why doesn’t this very specific thing I want, tailored to my very specific interests and needs, exist?!” impulse to some degree. So, you know, if other people could get on writing the stuff in my head, that would be great. ;)
But here, some fic ideas I wish other people would write just, like, in general: that funny personal trainer AU full of UST; a “Point Break” (1991, I know nothing about the remake) inspired AU because a) LOL and b) that movie’s so fucking full of (almost definitely intentional) gay subtext already it would take only the tiniest adjustments to make it text; more comedic takes on should-be-angsty tropes like hanahaki or certain soulmate type fics, etc.; an AU where they meet at the farmers’ market and McCree’s there selling succulents.
Q: Do you have any discarded scenes/storylines/projects?
Oh, for sure. I mentioned one in my M-answer, but there are just a ton of deleted scenes for TSatS that I wrote earlier on that, by the time the story started catching up to them, felt really off or like the wrong direction entirely. I’ve mentioned before that Jesse in NTIC was supposed to have Even More Awkwardness by having had previous crushes on several of his superiors, but which was super distracting from the rest of the fic. I stand by it being too distracting, but it was pretty funny and would’ve possibly contextualized his not-giving-a-damn about Hanzo bossing him around in entertaining ways, lollllll. I also had to table a second Reverse Bang fic bc that one just wasn’t working for me or the artist at the time; I may go back to it eventually though, because it really was a cool idea!
Now for the one that gets longer and a little spoilery for Our Heads Are Just Houses and TSatS unless you’ve read them all the way.
K: What’s the angstiest idea you’ve ever come up with? [aka robo rambles a lot about those two times she hurt her own feelings while writing]
Okay, for Our Heads Are Just Houses: the original concept was @bluandorange‘s, so the whole brainwashing plot, while already angsty in potential, wasn’t mine. However, I am absolutely the asshole who came up with the part where McCree was more or less himself with the serial numbers rubbed off, while Hanzo felt he was sort of “remolded” to be a very different person – the kind McCree might actually be able to love – and all the distressing feelings that came from Hanzo loving the real person but McCree loving the more palatable lie. Basically the whole scene where they talk on the flight to Gibraltar, ending with McCree’s “there’s no answer I can give that ain’t cruel in some way.” I have cried twice while writing a McHanzo fic, and that scene was one of them, heh.
The other thing I’ve written that made me cry, though it’s far less explicit in a lot of ways, is the scene in TSatS ch. 18 where Hanzo asks McCree if they’re friends and admits aloud that he’s never really had many friends and doesn’t know what he’s doing. I actually had to go back and edit to make it way more restrained because I Had A Lot Of Feelings. Anyway, then McCree tells Hanzo that he kept secrets for him even when he didn’t have to by refusing to be the one to tell Gabe about the Shimada dragons, because he didn’t want Hanzo to be used again? Even after everything that happened when they were younger, when Jesse had no “rational” reason to show him any loyalty? So the reason this whole thing kills me, and the reason Hanzo just straight up has to leave after he hears it, is because on some level Hanzo has to contend with the reality (and this’ll be explicit later in some fashion) that his entire life with his family was full of people who said one thing and did another, including Genji. Shit like “I love you” doesn’t really mean anything, if it’s always been accompanied by “so you owe these things to me and we’re going to use you how we see fit” or actions that demonstrate… not super loving things.
So Jesse was someone who loved him in a way that was actionable. He did things even when he didn’t have to and when Hanzo couldn’t possibly know about it or reciprocate, for no conceivable end except not doing more harm (and a harm that Jesse saw way more clearly than Hanzo did even back in the day). And he might be the first/only person in Hanzo’s life to have ever done that, although Genji is a different person now and is doing it in small ways these days. And Hanzo banished him and has been kind of a dick to him (even if it’s getting better) and Jesse now can barely even say they’re friends. So Hanzo’s being presented with both what he had and the knowledge that he lost it, and he actually just can’t process it in that moment and has to remove himself from it entirely, heh. Anyway, the whole idea kills me, from the “are we friends?” moment to the as-yet-only-suggested part where Hanzo kind of realizes that love is not an abstract feeling but also a set of actions taken and he pushed away the only person who’s ever really shown him that.
I am sure I’ve had angsty head canons that didn’t make it into fics. I know I have. But writing those two things made me cry like a stupid sappy marshmallow and I still think about them sometimes and wonder what I’ve done to myself and to people reading, lol. (Also I had to edit the above 4am ramble about TSatS because I kept writing “Hanzo realizes,” but the truth is in the text so far, he doesn’t realize in any conscious meaningful way beyond it sitting uncomfortably in his gut.)

Succession War Speculation
I just wanted to make a little (lol) post while all the princes are still alive. Once the arc is over I’ll come back and see how accurate I was in my speculation. (Behind a cut because it got looooong.)
1.      Benjamin is the first prince, and the most physically intimidating out of all the princes. He has a vicious personal army, a creepy nen beast, and a strong desire to obliterate all of his siblings. He will probably be one of the final princes in the battle if things go well for him. However, I kind of want him to be the first one to die, just to show that physical strength isn’t everything, but Togashi already kind of did that with Uvogin, so we’ll see if he does it again. (Also the nen beasts can possibly decimate his army if none of them know about nen).
2.      Camilla is the second prince, and we don’t really have much information about her as of this moment (Chapter 362). Tsubeppa calls her greedy, and she has a boob shaped jellyfish for a nen beast, but we don’t know much else. However, Tsubeppa and Queen Oito both named her as one of the princes who would be fighting hard for the throne, so hopefully she will hold her own when the war gets under way.
3.      Zhang Lei is the third prince, and like Camilla, not much has been revealed about him yet. Also like Camilla, Tsubeppa and Queen Oito acknowledge him as a threat in the succession war. I’ll wait to learn a little about him and Camilla before I really make any solid predictions. (He has one of the more aesthetically pleasing nen beasts, so that is a plus.)
4.      Tserriednich, the fourth prince, has been set up as the most terrifying prince in the succession war, brutally murdering two women in his first appearance, and making macabre art out of another woman’s skin in his second. Prince Tserriednich believes he is an extraordinary individual living among swine, and he would be the worst person to win the succession war. The less said about his nen beast, the better. He is also the owner of several of the Scarlet Eyes, even appearing to have a severed head of one of the Kurta clan among his collections, so Kurapika will be targeting him in addition to all the princes. Unless something completely unexpected happens, he will definitely be one of the final princes fighting for the crown.
5.      Tsubeppa is the fifth prince, and the last of the five mentioned to be seriously fighting for the throne. She tries to make an alliance with Tserriednich in chapter 362, and considers her other elder siblings completely inadequate to rule. She does seem to dismiss the younger princes as contenders for the throne, so that could be the one blind spot that could come back to haunt her in the future. Her nen beast also looks pretty fierce, so I think her chances to last in the war are pretty good.
6.      Tyson is the sixth prince, and honestly I don’t think she will last very long. She probably won’t be the first one out, but from what we have seen of her, I don’t like her chances. Tserriednich mentions her in chapter 348 only to talk about how protective she is with her handsome bodyguards. Tsubeppa doesn’t believe she has any desire to be king either. She does express some interest in being king him chapter 358, but I’m still not sure how serious she is about it at the moment. Her nen beast manifests as a bunch of small frog-like creatures (or possibly the thing giving birth to them in chapter 362?), and we haven’t seen them display any special powers as of yet (and her bodyguards seem to be more like personal man servants than actual guards). Kurapika’s old teacher Izunavi/Mizuken has also enlisted as one of her bodyguards, so we will see if he makes a difference in terms of her survival, or just gets mowed down in the crossfire.
7.      Lusurus is the seventh prince, and he is also probably going to be one of the first to die. Like Tyson, Tsubeppa mentions him as one of the princes uninterested in being king and doesn’t consider him a threat. Which is interesting, since Lusurus mentioned in 362 that he will be targeting her first, so we will have to see who comes off better in that encounter. Nevertheless, Tserriednich clearly considers Lusurus a moron, after all of his bodyguards fail the Hunter Organization screening in chapter 348. Lusurus’ nen beast might be the least impressive one I have seen so far, and it is also pretty arrogant of him to assume only he has bodyguards with knowledge of nen and that it will give him an advantage against the others, so. I guess we’ll see how that ends. As a last note, Basho is his bodyguard at the request of Kurapika, and I do not like his chances of survival as a result. Good luck Basho, don’t die.
8.      Harkenburg is the eighth prince, and while he would probably be the best king if he won, he will definitely be the first or one of the first to die. He doesn’t wish to participate in the succession war, and according to Kurapika in chapter 350, he wishes to make some radical changes to the Kakin nation if he becomes king. He doesn’t get along with most of his family as a result, although he does have a surprisingly close relationship with Prince Tserriednich. However, I have no doubt Tserriednich will double-cross him the first chance he gets, since he considers himself so above everyone else. Queen Oito also says that if he wins the war he will probably give asylum to the Princes left alive who don’t want to be king, and he is their best shot at surviving. So obviously that paints a bigger target on his back as well! The death off all his bodyguards only furthers my certainty that he will die soon. The only thing giving him a chance of survival is his nen beast, which looks properly menacing. Good luck, you poor doomed bastard.
9.      Okay, if Harkenburg doesn’t die first, it will definitely be the 9th prince, Sale-Sale. I mean, seriously. Look at him. He visibly shows no desire to be king, and only seems to be interested him women and partying (his nen beast seems to be in perfect agreement on that front). So yeah, he’s dead for sure.
10.  Kacho the tenth and Fuugetsu the eleventh might be my favorite princes so far!!! And I really, really don’t want them to be knocked out of the race so soon. I name them together since they seem to be the only two princes working together explicitly at this point, so it’s just easier to talk about them as a team. I can’t say how well they will fare against the adults at this point, but I want to believe they will hold their own. Okay, honestly, Kacho will probably be the one to survive the first volley, since Fuugetsu seems like a sweet girl who is just going along with what her sister says so she doesn’t get murdered. (I don’t know if Kacho is actually planning to let Fuu live in the end either, but I am waiting to see if she will keep her deal or not). I don’t think any of the older princes will expect the younger princes to be threats and it might give Kacho a leg up here. She’s obviously smart enough to realize she can’t beat the other princes without help, so I don’t think arrogance will hinder her too much. Okay, I don’t really have any basis to think she will do well, but come on! She’s a mean girl who pretends to be sweet and is actually devious and I want her to succeed so badly! Please don’t kill her and her sister off too fast Togashi, I love them. :( Also Melody is Kacho’s bodyguard, so if she dies Melody might die, and I don’t want to see that happen. Please don’t kill her Togashi I’m begging you.
11.   Momoze!!! The twelfth prince is my other favorite! Oh my goodness, I love Momoze. She seems like a sweet girl who likes to knit, but her nen beast can manipulate others and already killed three people. All while being an adorable mouse thing. I love it. I believe she’s also planning to kill her mother and little brother as of chapter 361, but her wording was ambiguous enough that I could be mistaken. It’s important to note that Momoze’s mother did take some of her bodyguards as extra protection for prince Marayam, and Hanzo was among them. I mention it mostly because he may get caught in her assault on Marayam (or be the agent of it?) as a result. Otherwise, I think she has potential to last in the war, and I definitely don’t want her to be one of the first to die because she is so much younger.
12.  Marayam is the thirteenth prince, and he might be in trouble. He has the least protection besides Woble and Momoze, and we haven’t seen if his nen beast is strong enough to protect him. However, he does have one thing going for him. Biscuit is his bodyguard! She is one of the strongest nen users in the Hunter Organization and will definitely be able to hold her own against any of the nen beasts (hopefully). So with her on his side, Marayam definitely has a chance of surviving. (Unless Momoze takes control of her and uses her to kill Marayam.) (Please don’t kill Biscuit Togashi; I won’t forgive you if you do.)
13.  And finally, Woble, the fourteenth prince! I…have no idea what will happen to Woble at this point. Kurapika being her bodyguard doesn’t actually comfort me at all. I’m honestly unsure if Togashi would really kill a baby just to make Kurapika sad and guilty. Her mother Oito might be in more danger than her as an adult, although maybe I just want Kurapika to be forced to take care of a baby all by himself. It would definitely be interesting to see her live (or even win) despite all the disadvantages she has at this point. But people might be expecting her to win since she has Kurapika as a bodyguard, so it would be more unexpected to just kill her off? I don’t know. We haven’t even seen her nen beast yet, and it could potentially be strong enough to help her survive. Maybe. I’ll just be waiting to see what happens. (Just to be clear, I’m not in favor of murdering the baby, but Togashi is a cruel man and I don’t trust him).
So that’s everything I have so far! I don’t know if it was so much predicting as summarizing everything we know about the princes so far, but I’m too tired to write more. I might go back and add links to sources later, but for now I’m just gonna drop this and run since it is way too long already.

Girl, i love how passionate you are when you talk about OW. Answer some Q's? Favourite/least favourite heroes and why? Favourite/least favourite maps and why? What do you think of 2CP'S, I never rage more than playing 2CP on ranked. Anubis especially. I have more questions tooo but i dont wanna overwhelm you with my noseyness lol.
Aaaaa thank you, that’s so sweet!! I always feel incredibly dorky when I talk with a lot of passion about video games but they do mean a lot to me LOL, especially ones I play so much like Overwatch. And you can ask me all the questions you want, I love talking about the game so it’s no problem!! ♥♥ I’ll put it behind a cut ‘cus like always I have a lot of opinions haha
Favourite heroesThis is kind of always a hard question for me, because I have several heroes I LOVE playing in a casual setting, and heroes I enjoy/prefer playing in competitive. I always feel kind of weird saying Mercy is my main, because there is a huge stigma behind it about ‘every girl only plays Mercy’, ‘Mercy one-trick ponies’, etc. It’s not at all the case. I come from a long background in TF2 where I mained both Medic and Scout, so making the switch to Overwatch I was immediately drawn to Mercy (that and I loved her Valkyrie skin since I’m obsessed with them lmao). I still think Mercy is incredibly fun to play and she is definitely my go-to character. Apart from her, I love playing Hanzo, Reaper, Widowmaker and Symmetra. Those are pretty much the typical ‘fun’ heroes for me. Other heroes I like playing are Orisa and D.Va.
Story-wise, though? Gabe by far, followed by Hanzo (I like Genji, too, but idk I think the whole being the eldest child and having expectations put upon you really draws me to Hanzo more) and Symmetra. Gabe/Reaper is my sun and stars, though.
Least favourite heroesTo play: Roadhog, Genji, Törbjorn, Junkrat, Winston. To play against: R O A D H O G. Words can not describe how much I hate seeing this guy on both my own team and the other team. Roadhog takes a lot of gamesense and skill to play right, and frankly, a lot of people in Diamond/Master don’t know how to and just end up feeding the enemy team their ults. Enemy Roadhogs, however, are flawless aimbots with 100% hook accuracy and a right click that can one-shot every hero in the game somehow. Also Mei is a menace.
Based on just the characters/their story, I really really do not like Soldier. There’s nothing about his character that speaks to me, the way he talks and acts does nothing for me personally. Sometimes I joke about calling him stale white bread, but that kind of sums up my thoughts about him. I’m also not a fan of Törbjorn (especially during the Uprising event he comes across like a jerk, kind of?).
Favourite mapsIllios and Dorado by far! I generally prefer playing on KOTH maps, since they are the least stressful for me somehow? I always get really worked up on 2CP, so I know your pain on that one lmao. It’s just really frustrating to capture the points, and even though they kind of tried fixing it, it’s just… a hassle of a gamemode in my opinion. I also really like Numbani and Route 66.
Least favourite mapsAnubis by FAR, like you mentioned lmfao. After that, I really don’t like playing on Volskaya (it’s just a really bland/small map imho?) either. Oasis is beautifully made, but I hate the look of everything in the sunset kind of time of day? It gives me a really uneasy feeling for some reason, and I always seem to lose on Oasis lmao.
Sorry this got so long lmao, but yeah!! I’m always up for more questions, no problem
