Debated about writing this for a few weeks.

Dear Staring Lady,

On June 4th it was at about 1:51 at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg Va. My 7 year old daughter was having a complete meltdown. You stared at her than continued to stare at me with dirty looks. You may have seen a bratty child having a fit because they couldn’t get something. But in reality is what you don’t see. My daughter was diagnosed with autism in December of this past year. I’m still learning and processing everything. We both are together it’s been a long several months. We decided to do a spur of the moment weekend trip to this amusement park. It was our first time her dad, myself, her and her two teenage brothers. At the time you saw us it was meltdown central because she was being overstimulated. This mom makes steps towards helping with them. Than it all changes and something new. I have several people in my head constantly pushing what I should do in those situations. Sometimes it doesn’t work sometimes it does. At the point of you staring and giving looks didn’t help. I was on the verge of crying and feeling hopeless as we waited for my husband and her brothers to get off a ride. I tried all of the methods of helping it didn’t but you judging and giving dirty looks never helps. Im guessing you aren’t a mother of special needs child nor even a mother yet. I hope one day someone will give you compassion when your child is having a meltdown. Instead of them judging you like you did to me. I know what date the time and even the ride because you made me cry in the shower later that night. Your face has been burned into my brain as a moment of feeling like a complete parent failure. Do better.
