Indigo not pulling similar numbers like the others did doesn't take away from how much of a masterpiece it is.

On the Street featuring more J. Cole doesn't take away from how meaningful of a song it is.

Layover not being written by V doesn't take away from how amazing of an album it is.

Because for 10 years, BTS laid the foundation and proved that their lyrics, their message, their performance, and their love for music are their core. For 10 years, they nurtured that relationship with ARMY so that we'd accept that Jin wanted to say goodbye with one song, so that we'd know that RM doesn't care for numbers but that his album would stand the test of time, so that we'd know how important it is for j-hope to pay homage to his idol, so that we'd accept Yoongi's raw and visually-violent portrayal of pain, so that we'd embrace Jimin's vulnerability and honesty, so that we'd understand that V wants to do music that feels true to him, so that we'd understand that JK wants to be an artist who can do all kinds of genres and so a full-English album also wouldn't take away from how stunning he's gonna sound on that album.

They attribute the fact that they can experiment and do anything musically to us. We're their dream and they became ours and now they're clinging onto what we built together, that we'd appreciate and understand and cheer them on as they do what they want as artists, with their assurance to us that they'll be back together and our assurance to them that we have their back.

They've pulled massive numbers, have broken records with Korean, Japanese, AND English records, have written countless of amazing songs with varied meanings and genres these past 10 years. Expecting them to do the same things in chapter 2 while also acknowledging how different they all are is hypocritical. Knowing how much they value music and then calling them lazy is disrespectful.

IMPORTANT INFO: issues around Jimin’s album

I have an ARMY friend (who shall remain safely anonymous) who works in film production for the music and entertainment industry here in the US. They offered me some valuable insights today into production limitations and possible issues related to Jimin’s solo album.

Below the cut is a transcript of their messages to me. I share this in the hopes it better informs our discussions around fair treatment of BTS members’ releases. It is by no means a definitive account of Jimin’s situation—simply an insider’s ideas on what likely happened around a few things.

I understand there are very big feelings about this topic, especially with the apparent differences around JK’s single, and I appreciate everyone’s viewpoints. However, if you choose to interact with this post, you will be respectful to others (including members) or you will be blocked. Some “light reading” while you’re resting up and recovering, lol. This is all just based on what I’ve been watching and seen. Of course, I don’t have access to their production budget sheet and Korea works very differently than the US when it comes to production, but this what I’ve been seeing when it comes to their videos and particularly the promotions for FACE.

(I’m sending in sections, lol)

Alrighty - I’m still like deep in edit-land (still am two days later 😭) but I started typing this on the train between meetings, ha ha. (And am still on the train doing this, lol.) Also this rambles a bit I’m sorry! So the first thing I did was go back to the interview where Jimin talked about the music videos — it was a Japanese TV show and he’s talking with a host in Korean.

He’s talking about “wanting to do it all,” laughs and says, “I wanted all the music videos” and that “they” (the company assuming) said “무리다” which has its roots in the word 무리 which means a herd, a party, a group — basically “it’s too much,” “it’s unreasonable,” and “it’s impossible” are decent translations as it refers to something or an idea being “too much” — then the host and Jimin burst out laughing and the host goes “서리와 무리다” which I read as “sorry (in konglish) but we can’t” and they continue to laugh. So based on that —it sounds very understandable.

We can imagine Jimin sitting down with his team and planning out SMFP2 and LC videos, with the 30 dancers and all the party scene extras, and then Jimin saying he wants to do the music shows with 6 different sets in rented locations so they could have total control. And if Jimin in that process went “what if we made official music videos for all of them?” the team would understandably go “that’s just not reasonable!” 1) because it would give Jimin a budget no other member had gotten and 2) there aren’t that many production houses in Korea. It’s a very small scene — it may just logistically not been possible. There aren’t enough DPs and crew and editors. Sometimes, as a producer, you have to tell your creative talent “I’m sorry, but no.” — I say it every week!

So what about the music videos? Well, here’s what I know from meticulously watching all the behind the scenes for BTS videos over the years. They work with a small team. They likely own a good deal of the gear — they shoot mainly on RED cameras and heavy expensive Cooke lenses (which you can’t get this stuff easily in Korea. I lost a lens cap for a Canon CINÉ Lens in Seoul and it was like this whole big deal because getting gear there is an import challenge but anyways) they use MOVI and Ronin gimbal stabilizers and Jimmy Rigs a lot.

Recently they’ve been using technocranes but I wonder how many technocranes there are in Seoul. As I said, they likely own a lot of this gear which can help with costs. But we’ve also been told — and I’ve heard through my industry friends — that Hybe PAYS. And in Korea there’s no unions in the entertainment world, and often the rates are shit (hence Netflix investing so much there - blerg) their standard work week is also already 12 hours longer than the US. It’s a whole thing. and they spend so much money on sets. It’s incredible.

They rent these huge spaces outside Seoul and BUILD — I mean the build out for SMFP2 was astounding. They easily dropped 1million on that video. The rigging, the build-out, the custom set and the custom camera rigs to achieve the 360 shots - the drone shots. They’re astounding videos. No US label is spending that money on videos these day. Absolutely none of them are — my friend recently produced a video for John Legend. They were trying to pull the whole thing off for $100K which is ridiculous. It’s really almost impossible.

But on the Big videos they spend a lot of money, but they also produce a lot of other stuff too (and these are often looked at as Performance Videos vs all-caps MUSIC VIDEOS) -— like RM’s video shoot at DIA Beacon… that was a much smaller, fairly single camera shoot — all shot on drones or a MOVI handheld rig. No set, they also didn’t like pay for the set because DIA: Beacon is an art museum — and similar a little bit to Letter for Jimin, which was much smaller set and easy in-house gear.

(And it was also released on Bangtan TV channel vs Hybe Labels Channel, which is a good indicator of how they categorize these shoots.) But the big videos, they go for broke. I mean they spend so much money and again they may own a lot of the equipment but there’s still so much people-power and labor involved. Take the dancers’ rehearsals. You have to pay people for all that — you have to pay them for the weeks of rehearsal, you have to pay them to be in a video. It is so expensive — like, I would not be able to budget that video for under 1 million, that’s how much it costs.

So then Jimin wanted to do music shows —- and so because he’s Jimin and it’s BTS, Hybe rented larger venues and locations for all of the shoots. None of them use the actual Broadcast spaces or were provided by the broadcast studios. The smaller companies do though — remember when BTS first started out they went to SBS to film on the day? — but they don’t do that anymore. They rent huge facilities so that they could be a mini concerts for ARMYs to visit with Jimin and see him.

They also have to do this kind of outside of the city and they built huge sets because they’re going to want to show off if they’re gonna be on TV but that is so expensive. (I don’t think you were an ARMY then, but when ON was released, at the time it was the “biggest broadcast performance ever” and they keep upping that ante for sure!) It’s possible the broadcast companies spend some money but what BTS is doing is so outside the usual budget and given the tension with the broadcasters and HYBE — they (Hybe) wants control of their products, and so I think they pay for that control.

I can’t imagine they got out of any of those days for under $500K; I mean, there were two different sets, all the crew; they’re paying for all of it. We add it up and they probably spent close to $3-5 million between Jimin’s music videos and his music show performances, and I would be understandably like: “That’s it!” Like, that’s the budget for an EP, you know.

I don’t think Jimin could have it all because that wasn’t the case for the other members. RM got to lead videos and J Hope had pyrotechnics, which definitely costs money and safety and insurance. You know he had visual effects his first video (a lotta visual effects) and again a lot of challenging technocrane work, but I haven’t really seen them build something on the scale of what they built for SMFP2 in a very long time (or ever?).

We heard from the Art Dept that Jimin did not want to shoot on blue screen, so they built the set for him. This cannot be the same label that is shafting him — that allows him to spend that amount of money just because the artist said “I want to shoot in a real space!” because I’m gonna be completely honest— he could’ve done that on a blue screen — I’m glad they built a real world because BTS almost always shoots on Blue/Green Screen. They build him a huge set like that. It’s absolutely incredible.

I was also reminded this morning that people are talking about radio for Like Crazy and not supporting the song — and I just keep thinking that they did exact rollout for Butter, Dynamite, and Permission to Dance. They released Like Crazy. It had both a Korean version and English version. (Obviously that wasn’t the case for the English BTS songs.) They released two additional remixes. Then they kept releasing, like, alternate cover versions — alternate covers of the main remix, alternate cover the other remix. They were trying to maximize the direct-to-consumer store and exact same way they had tried to maximize it with Dynamite and Butter and Permission to Dance.

The way you were buying Like Crazy was the same process I took on Dynamite. They did the exact same playbook. So the fact that they were unable to get the kind of radio play they wanted or maybe they weren’t prioritizing radio because they knew that they were gonna have a better chance at direct to consumer sales... Maybe they didn’t want to fight radio. Maybe Geffen was like “We don’t have the right ‘Ins’ yet!” — I’m not sure, but the fact that they got completely screwed over by Billboard doesn’t mean that they weren’t actually rolling it out in that way, because as soon as they started doing the whole alternate cover thing, I was like: “Well, they clearly want us to try to go for number one!” You know, “They clearly think that they are going to be able to get number one on the hot 100 and we’re gonna use these sales to do that!” And clearly that’s all changed now.

They keep changing the rules on us, so — with JK, they’re obviously trying to, you know, use whatever tools they have available to them at this point.

Finally, when it comes to restocking the digital single CD. There are still albums available in the store. So why would they manufacture and ship more (likely thrown away) plastic that’s just for one song, when those CD singles only serve to raise sales for the charts? All of the other member’s CD singles are out of stock except The Astronaut, which they treated more like a proper album a bit (kinda like the Butter CD releases). Because they still have both versions of his full albums in stock, so if I were Hybe, I’d be like “No,you need to buy the album, we still have albums, we’re not going to sell you a single song when you can buy the album!” That makes more sense to me. The albums cost more.

TL:DR, haha — so I feel like this narrative around Jimin’s release has been ramped up because, from my professional opinion, he’s had the most expensive release so far (by far) and if we want to compare him to, say, Beyoncé — well she owns her own production company (Parkwood Entertainment), so she can funnel her own money into a Visual Album, I don’t know if Jimin has considered that at this point in his career, but in the future, he might!

((Not including costs for Suga’s tour because that’s a whole other thing, and the tour probably made money I would expect to balance out the cost of the tour itself))

This isn’t to say that the other things, the part where he didn’t get the cake celebration, or the posts, the issues with the linking and this general feeling that Jimin was short-changed in these things isn’t valid and understandable. I think Hybe relied too much on D2C sales and I don’t think they leveraged their might as much as could have for JM. They could have risked more for him.

So, listen, I still don’t think Like Crazy was sent/promoted to radio (which was a mistake and still is a mistake) and I am furious at the shady articles and lack of celebration for Jimin…

But after reading the way the members approach their work in the Beyond the Story book and now hearing from someone who produces these works for a living, I have to wonder if the company was doing everything they knew how to do for Jimin, but the second it didn’t work out because of the western music industry culling streams and sales, they pulled back all their resources and pivoted for Yoongi and JK. (I also wonder if leadership shut up about it all due to liability issues, or not to cause bad blood with the music industry for future releases.)

Again, I’ll never forgive the lack of celebration and the split streams (not without a great explanation), but at least now I think there’s a good chance no one was actively trying to sabotage Jimin on purpose. They seemed to have wanted that #1 and then it all went to shit because Billboard and radio want to get paid. Maybe leadership decided not to put any more resources into Face but instead pivot for all the future music coming out (including PJM2.)

Perhaps I'm a cockeyed optimist. I’m just hoping like hell they never engage in payola. I want all our boys to win, but I want us to win fairly. And even if everyone cannot have the same investment every time on every project, I hope when they come back together in 2025 that everyone feels good about their solo works and each other. Who is Kim Young Jin?

The man behind the looks, bringing BTS' vision to life, from photo-folios, to music videos to high fashion magazine photoshoots.

Kim YoungJin and his team have worked with the members as a group and as individuals on their concerts and everything in between.

“Seoul-based stylist Youngjin Kim has been obsessed with fashion since he was a child, saving up his pocket money to buy magazines. “It was so special to me,” he remembers. After majoring in photography at college but leaning into the looks just as heavily, somebody suggested he give styling a go and well, the rest is history. These days, he’s working with BTS, but can also be found dressing the likes of NCT 127, Super M and Daniel Kang for cover features, campaigns and album artwork.”

👤What was your entry point to styling?

“I worked as an assistant to [Korean actor] Jin Oh Jeon’s stylist for about five years and came to understand the overall system of the Korean fashion scene. Looking back, that time was so precious; time that brought me to this moment, I guess.”

👤Tell us about the type of work you do.

“Styling for albums and projects such as “My Universe” by BTS and Coldplay is receiving tremendous attention on a global scale. Whenever I style an idol group, I think of a designer creating a collection. I mix and match clothes from different Japanese brands such as Comme des Garçons and Yohji Yamamoto, and I express my own aesthetic with styling to fit each concept. I also style various editorials for fashion magazines. I consider myself a fashion stylist, and when I first took on the role of an idol stylist, I was proud of demonstrating what kind of visuals could be created if a fashion stylist takes on an idol.”

Kim Youngjin has worked with the members on the brand ambassadorship endeavours, such as styling for mag shoots like the Valentino photoshoot with SUGA

👤Of course, a stylist doesn’t just ‘style’. You’re often a bridge between celebrities and brands — a look you introduce to an idol could quickly become a trend.

“Exactly. In many cases, celebrities or models with good momentum are recommended to brands or magazines, and if the celebrity is an ambassador of a fashion house, they communicate more closely with the fashion brand.”

👤What do you think is the most important thing in styling?

“I try to combine the latest fashion trends with classic items. For instance, I like pairing Levi's denim and casual sneakers with a Saint Laurent blazer. As details are crucial for men's clothes, the overall outfit is often impacted by details such as perfect length and sleeves.”

In Chapter 2 of BTS' journey, Kim YounJin has been part of many of the members solo projects that were even released post enlistment for some, such as j-hope LV campaign and styling for Esquire Magazine

👤Do you have a favourite brand or designer?

“I’ve always loved Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci, which has had a huge impact on me as a stylist. I have such respect for a person who has accomplished what they’ve wanted to do for a long time — I think Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons are both great in that regard too.”

“I’m 32, so I was in elementary and middle school in the 1990s, which was when I started getting into fashion. Since I was really young, like 10 years old, I used to go downtown to buy clothes by myself. In elementary school, I wore baggy sweatshirts and jeans like this Balenciaga ensemble. I liked hip-hop and K-pop even back then and would dress up like this and dance at school festivals. Retro fashion is back in style, so it doesn’t at all look out of place or time to dress like this again.”

Hi BPP,

I really enjoy your blog and your level-headedness when it comes to everything surrounding BTS and Jikook. You often post really good takes and answer asks quite comprehensively.

Which is why I'm sending my ask to you regarding that short clip of Jikook at the airport during the baghug.

First off: Jimin seemed to really need that hug, it seems, because he (a) seemed a bit subdued during the walking-in part and (b) ge literally barrelled into Jungkook. There was impact made even tho JK was barely bothered. Maybe that interpretation of desperation instead of affection is what makes me a bit sad about my observation.

That JK did indeed remove Jimin. It's not like similar situations when JK was still a teen - it was rather gentle. From another angle, it looked like Jikook both moved at the same time after that talk with their bodyguard. A simple "okay, now it's time for travel business" motion.

I don't even know why this makes me think so much? Why I circle back to the fact that it wasn't entirely wanted which is apso not true, since JK was going along for the majority of the clip. Even swaying. Especially when we know Jikook are just as close as they've always been. I don't think the physical separation during their individual album releases hurt them, they're too good of friends for that. There are bonds in your life, nothing but an actual intense disagreement can ruin. And didn't we still get Kookie flirting with Jimin, and Jimin joining his golden concert?

I think, whatever they're up to in Tokyo, it will give them a lot of time to spend together. Off-line. Recuperating.

I read somewhere that In The Soop was kind of conceptualised to counteract a drifting apart of the members during the pandemic. Maybe Jikook and Hybe came to the conclusion, that with their schedules being what they are, producing a show would be the perfect cover-up for spending time together with the added benefit of having enlistment content. If that's the case, it makes it doubly...interesting let's say, that it's not all four or just the Maknaes or any other combination going places. That no other member has been mentioned in connection to this.

Well. I'm not anymore.

Because Jikook are allegedly headed to Sapporo (spelling might be wrong, sorry). The more we learn - even in snippets - about this trip, the more fuzzy my heart feels. Happy, even.

They went to Tokyo as close as they could probably manage to their last trip there, aka the GCF Tokyo anniversary. That last time was a "REAL LOVE" declaration during a time neither were in a really good place. Tokyo was an escape removed from the worries of their life and fame. A snow globe of happiness, you can shake every time your demons get to you. A gift from one person seeing the one always taking care of them falling apart, and deciding to take the weight of their shoulders. It's so fucking beautiful.

And now, after a year of emotional turmoil with their hyungs enlisting, of the physical separation that releasing two incredibly important albums brings, of duties and barely any breaks. Now they go back to Tokyo and Japan just before they have to enlist.

None of this is a coincidence.

To add to that Sapporo. Where it's snowing now. The implications for Jikook are big. We know Jimin loves snow, that JK knows that as much as we do, that watching the first snow together is a superstition for Korean couples. And now Jikook are there, in the first major Japanese city legalising same sex marriage - the city of love. While JK wore a rLOVElution hoodie, a line being dedicated to lgbtqia+ acceptance, just like during his NY outing with Jimin.

I could criticise everyone villifying their bond here, but now I don't want to anymore. Just look at what Jimin and Jungkook get to experience, even if only for a little time, and tell me that it's not the most beautiful thing.

The person having "please love me" tattooed on his body and the person singing "just let me love you". Serendipity and Euphoria. Black and White. Sun and Moon. Poets would weep cause they couldn't write a love this beautiful.

Then you sent in the second ask, and what you've said in this second ask is so beautiful, I don't want to ruin it with my pontificating. Regardless of anything, jikook have a real connection, a real relationship, and a real history. What exactly that looks like I don't know, but I do know whatever it is, it's real.

Let's not dismiss this right away, because there’s a possibility you're right and this could be true. But I don't see any of this, in my opinion. I don't think this Japan trip is arranged by the company because they're drifting apart, though I agree it's being made for content to keep parts of the fandom engaged. My counterpoint to that though is that if BigHit really was making this just for greenbacks, it would've made more sense for this to be a taekook trip and not jikook - given taekookers are the largest and oldest shippers in the fandom, and this would've been an easy way for BigHit to capitalize on the recent bromance we've seen from them in chapter 2. But it's jikook, and there could be many reasons for why, maybe sometime down the road Tae joins them or we get a similar show with him, but right now, with everything that's led up to now, the easiest explanation for why jikook are going on this trip is because they want to.

And that's good enough for me.

big hit was on the brink of bankruptcy while debuting bts so my group and bts suffered on our early days. in 2016 bts gained interest in korea which follows cosmic’s slow popularity growth. however, cosmic focused more in the western market and finally hit the charts after our comeback in December of 2016 (after zero wins since debut) while bts won the first daesang in 2016 and got tremendous hate, cosmic won their song of the year & hit the billboard chart and stayed first for a few weeks. also getting tremendous hate from k netz, not believing a rookie girl group managed to secure billboard for their first win.

the next year my group decided on each solo comebacks, where other member success domestically my solo album went back to the billboards charts for weeks gaining cosmic its international popularity along with bts. in the end of the year bts won best group in pop while my album won best solo after that bts and cosmic soars in popularity both domestically and internationally.

🗣️: What type of album did you intend to make when you started this project?

🐯: When I’m doing performances with BTS I tend to show my coolness/activeness during performances. For my solo project, I wanted to focus on the comfort/calmness/healing side of me. I wanted to give Army some comfort and calmness by sharing the music I like. I wanted to comfort ARMYs with the music I make. That’s why I made this type of album.

I'll never forget how armpits harassed JiminFunds 2 days before Jimin's debut, calling her a fraud and a scammer and trying to cancel her for accepting a DONATION of $10K from Japanese and Chinese Armys that weren't able to buy from the US stores, but still wanted to help Jimin have a good debut and also help for Hot100.

But now suddenly NO ONE is questioning how a SINGLE SOLO FANBASE from China tried to make a sketchy BULK purchase of over $800K albums in the very last minute, that got publicly called out by Hanteo for having overinflated the numbers of that member in the first 24hrs.

And get this, the many "OT7s" that were defending this Chinabar acc are doing so because according to them---

"---they're the ones who have been carrying the BTS album sales for many years. Its thanks to them that MOTS7 kept that huge record for awhile. 😊"

And there were also the solos of that member who complained that they had wanted that member's sales numbers "to match those of MOTS7 so that only HE would own this record."

(And don't even get me started on the streaming farms they also paid for him).

I'm gonna sound like the biggest anti right now for saying this... but are Armys finally starting to own up to every single accusation other fandoms have made against Army & BTS for years??

I'm open to discussing Jimin or Tae or any other member not getting as much push as Jungkook- in a way that does not negate JKs achievement.

But rather than look at things in a one dimensional way where Hybe is the big bad wolf and everyone else is being treated unfairly i like to look at it as a multilayered complex situation bearing in mind I have limited access to the inner workings of the company and the fact I, none of us, are Privy to the contract between the boys and the company.

Because at some point we have to recognize that Jimin is not quitting hybe or firing hybe and keeps renewing his contract with them choosing on his own volition to have them serve him as his agent, management, record label.

At some point he would have to pack his bags and walk away.

He has agency and autonomy and any analysis of his situation should factor that in.

Then there is the external factors such as whether Like Crazy is the song Jimin wants to break through the western market with.

Whether face is the album he wants to put on out there.

For a company that picks and chooses which songs to push and which to let simmer- if you've been in the Fandom for more than a year- you'd know it's not all songs of BTS the company pumps money into or pushes hard into the west.

We can talk of Dynamite or most of their recent English songs that were intentionally produced to get them into Grammy. I recall Koreans complaining heavily how disconnected they'd felt as they couldn't connect with those songs.

I also seem to recall people out in these streets mocking them and calling them Anglo pop Koreans and sell outs and how they missed their Korean songs and blah blah blah.

None of those English songs were marketed heavily in korea.

Compared to Be, which most of us felt was not pushed much in the west because the lyrics and theme spoke better to the Korean Japan markets.

At some point, we need to THINK about these METRICS and how they influence the decisions of the company and the direction of the member's promo.

I really be losing my patience explaining some of these things over and over I swear.

Like crazy came in two versions which seems to imply Jimin was well aware of the fact there are different markets and the two versions, an all English version and Anglo kpop versions suggest he had intended LIKE CRAZY NOT PRIMARILY FOR A WESTERN AUDIENCE BUT THE GENERAL AUDIENCE.

He is credited as the 1st Solo kpop artist to hit a BB1 with a Korean song....

The only other artist to achieve this to the best my knowledge is BTS with their life goes on which wasn't even marketed to the west per se.

Bts, hybe they cater to different markets at different times. They have specific markets and general launches or markets. There are times they target a specific market other times- like in JMs case with like crazy original, they target a general market.

Being pushed in the western markets does not make one a global superstar. If it were the case them BTS WOULDN'T BE THE BIGGEST BOY BAND IN THE WORLD because where is their push into the western market show me. SHOW ME.

RM has talked about this too.

When they make songs in Korean they don't intend it as pop songs or hype songs as he puts it.

English songs are meant to help them break into the US or western markets.

They could make Spanish songs or Japanese songs in order to break into specific markets but that comes at a cost of their brand and their identities as explained above by RM.

Safe to say they know and understand the market implications of the songs they make and the target audience of those songs.

Jimin gave us an English version of LIKE CRAZY not as his MAIN ORIGINAL SONG

His original was in Korean- DO THE MATH AND TELL ME WHY HYBE SHOULD PUSH A SONG NOT INTENDED FOR A SPECIFIC MARKET INTO THAT MARKET WITH ALL THEIR RESOURCES

Like I said, yall jx seem to have zero understanding of the inner workings of the entertainment industry, basic marketing and common sense is lacking 🙄

Besties ?

Today is the faithful day I've been waiting for, the MAMA Awards. A part of me was terrified. This would be the first time I would be without my members, though I knew this day would come. I was always trying not to think about it. Being the only female member of the world's biggest boy group was difficult. I mean, it was hard from the start, I don't know how many people stated my position was pointless and that we would never get anywhere as a group. Though at time I did want to quit, I refused to give everyone the satisfaction of not being able to take the heat. Pretty much all my members are enlisting now.

Even Jungkook, to think we used to walk to school together and I always clung to him, at the time he couldn't stand me to be honest. He believed u was taking his spot. Now he is my best friend or older brother like the rest of BTS. "Soo, are you excited? Your first solo album has been nominated like 5 times. I heard u even got nominated for the KBS awards." I looked at jk slightly while my entire team was trying to get me ready for the night. "It's good, but weird like a good weird kook. I feel like I'm actually growing as an artist now. I mean, I love you guys, and I can't wait to perform with you again, but everyone sees me as this little girl you know. Like you were able to grow out of it, but I still have people telling me my clothes are a little too tight for my age like I'm not a grown ass woman." I say breathing in a huff, not taking in a single breath after all that. "Babes, you just turned 20. You will always be bangtans, baby. And I'll call you later to see how it goes, with you being a big host and everything." I smile and see somi walk into the room. "Is that my beautiful baby girl? Don't tell me it is. Oh my omg, is that your back? You're just letting the world see, huh? Sexyy mama." I blush at her words before my makeup team signals they are done and tell her we have to go since we were running late. Walking the carpet was great, somi being handsy as always. I am answering a few questions here and there. "So how long have our favorite hosts known each other?" I stared at somi as she pulled me close, holding the small of my back. "To be honest, feels like forever. We met backstage during my debut when I wasn't a soloist, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't get rid of me." I laugh at that, knowing at first I did try to brush her off. "So it seems, ladies and gentlemen."

Everyone was running around, either lost or simply in a rush. "I remember when we had to go through that," I point towards the artists dancing and singing on stage and rushing backstage to change. "I still have to go through that tonight, baby." I then remembered she did, in fact, have to perform tonight and laugh out loud. "Oo right your bad, so how do you usually host?" She laughs and grabs my hand, holding it. "You're about to find out, babes." We walk out onto the stage, and the audience goes wild. I smile and start to wave at all of them. Before speaking in Japanese.

"Your favorite Japanese princess is here. It's crazy that some of you don't know I'm Japanese. The only foreign member in my group, like come on yall." The crowd starts laughing, and the camera points to the idols, and I scream, getting happy seeing Riize. "Wow, it seems someone sees their favorite idols." I smirk at some words while holding her hand, "I mean, it's riize like come on, guys. You all know why they get the hype. The girls that get it get it. And the girls that don't just don't." Me and somi start talking more about the upcoming performances while making jokes here and there. "OK, yall, I got to get Koreas national it girl backstage so she can change into one of her many chambers." I push her shoulder slightly before, "beauty is simply me." We laugh while walking off stage.

We walked out to present the next section of tonight with everyone gushing over my outify as usual. "Get like me, yall." Me and somi continued to make everyone laugh through the night. "I'll be back babes." Me and somi are sitting backstage eating some fried chicken. "Taste like home, girl. I haven't had this in a fat minute. I missed this." She laughs at me before continuing to eat, and we start to talk since we haven't seen each other in a while. "Your performance is gonna eat, I just know it." She smiles before pulling me closer, and I stop eating to stare at her. "What is there something on my face?" She pushes her chair closer and moves my food out of the way. I was about to argue before she grabbed my waist to pull me even closer. Now, this wasn't 100% out of the ordinary. I mean, somi was always a touchy person. So I never questioned it, though at this moment, it felt odd. "You're acting weirder than usual. I mean, you were acting like this on the phone when I was talking to you while putting on my dress. And earlier this week, what's going on som?"

She looked in my eyes before kissing me. This was completely unexpected. Sure, I mean, somi was a beautiful girl, and anyone could acknowledge that, but to kiss me was wild. "I like you," I stared at her still in shock from the kiss. "I like you to somi- she cut me off. Not as a friend, obviously. I've tried to express it for weeks. You're so oblivious to everything. When guys hit on you, I stand up for you. Telling everyone you're my girlfriend so leave you alone. Or showing up random times at night to your home because you told me you had a taste for a certain food earlier. Or even buy you gifts randomly because you are just so beautiful and I have every excuse to want to spoil you. Say something. Please." I couldn't find the words. I mean, my bestie had just confessed her love to me. "Did you just kiss me while I had chicken grease on my face?" She looks at me like she is about to cry before laughing. "You're very pretty somi, and you my rock. And I can't imagine my life without you. So, I guess I don't kinda like you too." I tell her sarcastically, before she leans in to kiss me again. In the process, we get notified she has to perform, and she looks back at me with that bug bright smile. "Will you watch?" I simply kissed her hands. "Miss a chance to watch my new girlfriend showing everyone what a soloist looks like, wouldn't miss it for the world."

I watched somi perform, and it was amazing to see her as my girlfriend was to see her in a different light. When she was done, I was dressed and styled, and she came backstage to change before looking at me. Kissing me on the mouth, not caring about anyone around. "Really all this babes?" I look at her with a bored expression. "The only no in fashion is to be boring, let's goo." We walk out there, and somi was walking ahead of me. "Wait a minute, guys, I gotta help my girl." I smile at her words blushing again. This would be like the 8th time tonight. "How has everyone's night been?" The crowd starts yelling with excitement, letting us know it has been amazing. "That's amazing to hear, I know mine has been way better than expected," she says while looking at me for the last part. "Sadly, though, we do have to close the night out, guys. we wanted to thank all of you for coming, especially the founding fathers of idols like TVXQ. I know it must've been hard trying to grab your oxygen pumps to get ready this morning."

The crowd starts laughing while the cameraman points to them, and they smile while looking at me. "It's ok to be elderly guys. It happens. I'll see you after to help you with your bad back, gentlemen." Somi pulls me closer before saying her goodbyes. After we finished, a staff member came out pulling me to the side, and smoi proceeds to read a card, and before I know it, I'm being handed awards. I kinda forgot about being nominated to begin with. "Omg, guys, omg. Fuck. Wait shit I can't say fuck. I'm sorry, children, tonight has been so crazy and I forgot all about this part, I just I don't even have speech. So unprepared, to all the girlies that decided hitting me with an award at the last minute was a good idea, fuck you and I still love you. Thanking everyone that has gotten me this far especially myself for being the baddest bitch kpop has ever seen. And too all the girls out there, I want you to know that plenty or people will complain about everything you have or don't have. But this right here shows that girls can do everything boys can do in this industry. If anything, RM is a worse dancer than me. That wasn't needed, but hey, it helps. And too, my best girl, somi, I love you, babes. Bye from your favorite baddest fairy godmother. And good night japan."
